The apartment was very run down, living room fan didn’t work. Beds and pillows were very hard. We feel like we paid far too much for the quality of the stay.

We’d wake up and the room would smell like someone had just blown up your toilet… but it was just gas from the shared building pipes.

• Elizabeth (4/5): Beware what you book and seriously consider going direct to the accommodation - we will next time! - We liked the location but unfortunately that’s probably the only thing we liked. We booked and paid for a renovated apartment via Booking.com however, we were placed in an unrenovated, almost original condition apartment which was incredibly disappointing. The building was fully booked so we couldn’t be moved, although the Managers advised they tried. Booking.com did not specify our booking was for a renovated apartment hence the mix up and have done nothing to resolve/ rectify / compensate to date. The apartment was absolutely filthy - mould on all the skirting boards, black hairs were constantly found on the ground even though we went and purchased a vacuum and mop and thoroughly cleaned the apartment. We have a 1 year old and it was distrusting. The ensuite - mould all in the shower, door didn’t close, rust everywhere. Essentially, we were expecting a renovated apartment and got a run down filthy original conditional apartment. Photos nothing like the what was displayed on Booking.com.

Easy to check in with a code and the parking was easily accessible with our large SUV. Not many amenities such as shampoo/conditioner. We had one soap. There is a washing machine but no laundry detergent.

• Lee (10/5): Family surf stay - Location in regards to Rainbow Bay and Duranbah was excellent. Location is very quiet. Rooms are spacious and it was a bonus having a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms. Rooms have good natural light and beds comfy. Underground parking was very secure. Nil

Otherwise nothing we didn't like about our stay
• Lauren (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE – Dangerous, filthy, and negligent management - We stayed at Rainbow Commodore with our young children and had the most traumatising experience of our lives. On the first night, our 2-year-old nephew found drug Paraphernalia in the TV cabinet located underneath a kids puzzle. He picked it up, yelling "yuck" – we were terrified he’d ingested something. We then discovered bags of drugs, a burnt spoon with residue, a plate with powdered substances, blood covered Valium tablets, bags of drugs and a blood-stained pillow. Management’s response? No gloves, no apology, no professional cleaning — just bleach poured over the drug drawer and a gaslighting email the next day. No offer to move rooms, inspect for further danger, or protect our family. Other serious issues included: * Balcony door that didn’t lock, dangerous with a toddler * No fresh towels or toilet paper for 5 days * Washing machine broken, we had to fix it ourselves * Apartment repeatedly entered without knocking * Ceiling fan didn’t work * Staff were cold, dismissive, and treated us like a nuisance This place should not be listed on any reputable platform. We’ve lodged complaints with Booking.com, Fair Trading, and the police. Avoid at all costs. Response to feedback below: Our family had no option to stay in this accomodation, as all accomodation was fully booked for Cooly rocks festival. We could not get 15 people on early flights home which would have been at our cost. We could not move accomodation as everything was sold out. Owners made us feel very uncomfortable. Our family felt uncomfortable and unable to ask for any toilet paper, fresh linen as mentioned via email. We have also not received a response to our email via booking.com but funny a response to a review on public forum. Also wish to highlight how rude the management was when they came to our room to remove the drugs - storming out and not even offering to check the room advising "what else would you like me to do' and stormed ou Drugs being found by a 2 year old - crack pipe, valium tablets all covered in blood and bags of pills. Also found a spoon which looked like its been used to cook herion along with blood stained pillows. Manager was rude to use when we freaked out about finding this and lines of white substances on a plate in easy access of a 2 year old. Did not offer so search room to ensure no further items would be found. Us scared a syringe would be found by our 2 year old given what we had found. Absolutely disgusting service, not to have moved rooms and only offered to clean when we emailed the next day - and only a vaccum was done on the carpet.

• Lisa (10/5): Huge apartments with unbeatable views of the beach. - So close to the best beach in Australia. Pool was open nice and late. The owners were so lovely and gave us lots of suggestions on where to eat and what to see around Coolangatta. Even tho our room wasn’t on a high floor we could still see the beach and watch people surfing all day. The rooms were huge, we had everything we could possibly need in the kitchen and laundry. It was a little loud. You could hear everything happening in the apartment above us, but that’s just how older buildings are and it can’t be helped.

• Alana (9/5): It was a wonderful stay at the Rainbow Commodore. I highly recommend it - we would live there! - The unit was large and spacious. It was furnished with comfortable and stylish furniture. Wonderful facilities and very easy check in and check out procedure. 1 block from Rainbow Bay, close to shops and restaurants. Underground car parking. The large pool and spa area was a particular favourite of my children. Very secure and safe. Everyone we encountered in the building were extremely friendly. Very clear communication from the managers. We were sad to leave! Older bathrooms and kitchen, although still very clean and all appliances worked. Fan did not work in the main living area - think it may had needed replacement batteries in the remote.

• Karey (7/5): Great location to beach - Great location to Snapper Rocks. Great view of ocean. Short walk into Coolangatta, however being so close to it could not get an Uber when it was pouring rain & waited 45 minutes to get a cab/Uber to the airport on the date of departure. We finally got one with 13Cabs and would suggest using them. Uber came and left as he said he couldn't fit our bags in. It was difficult to make contact with reception as it was not open often & response to booking.com messages was a little slow, but they were helpful. Some of the fixtures in apartment we old ie; power point hanging out, fans looked like they would fall off, carpet a bit manky. There was no air con, which l obviously didn't read correctly. It was mostly fine with the sea breeze however at night it was really warm. It was super noisey as we had to leave doors open to get breeze through and there was a fair amount of traffic. Overall we liked staying there, but the addition of air conditioning would be great and just fixing up small things.

Close to resturants and shops. Quite location. Large room with balcony. Nice pool and surrounds. Off street secure parking. Maintenance on the property was poor. Unable to use one of the showers as the head was not fixed and kept flipping up wetting everything. Door in ensuit shower leaked so was stepping into a wet floor. Limited towels and bath mats.

Some things were not clean. The table was sticky and some of the utensils were a little dirty. Nothing bad and would not prevent me from staying there again.
