Guest Reviews
- Nadia (2/5): Flys in the room - When we walked into the room, it was disgusting. There were flys in the room, the bathroom was dirty, and there was food left in the fridge. The owner was not accommodating to the situation.
- Joseph (10/5): - The host was awesome!!
- Brandy (6/5): - When we arrived I had a bad feeling in my gut. Ibwent to check in and got the key and the remote to the ac (I thought that should of been in the room). One the first inspection it was an ok looking room. 2 beds, refrigerator, microwave and a full bathroom. Im the type of person that needs to try the bed so I moved one of the pillows and thats where things changed. I saw stains all over the bedding. Nothing looked like they had been cleaned and if they were and still stained they should of been replaced. The corners of the room had cobwebs and the white towels werent white. The trash cans were dirty on the outside like someone spilled a drink and it splashed on the can and never cleaned. We went to a local store and bought bedding and towels to use. If there was another hotel availabe I would of taken the loss and slept elsewhere but their wasnt.
- Michelle (8/5): Quaint Stay - This is a nice little family owned motel/inn. It only has 10 rooms. The view is amazing and just outside of the city, so no light pollution if you want to look at the stars. The bathroom was very quaint and I loved the rain shower head. My only concern was there was trash under the beds that was not ours and there were some stains on the box spring of the bed. But honestly, we didn't notice that until the very end when we were double checking to make sure we didnt forget anything. This was a one night trip.
- Kenneth (2/5): - Floors were dirty, there were hairs on the pillows and in the bathroom sink. Bathroom door did not close. Very expensive for the type of accommodation. Pictures were very misleading. No wonder there were no pictures of the building, I wouldn't have picked it because the price was not adequate to the look. You could hear every person next door talking. We did not have any other choice but to stay because it was late, but made sure we wash everything when we got home
- Dennis (2/5): - Needed accessible and they said they had it and did not. Did not stay there
- Joshua (8/5): - N/a
- John (6/5): - Absolutely not worth the money. My room was just sad. It desperately needs a renovation.
- Danny G (10/5): 6/5 stars, amazing stay - We went to visit Honda attraction in the area. The little motel was amazing! It looked like the Bates hotel from outside. When you got inside, it was super nice and comfy. The interior was very well done and professional. The innkeeper was a very nice gentleman, I give it top stars!
- Joseph (10/5): - Quaint motel style property, surrounded by cornfields for a rustic feel. Great customer care and waterfall shower head was a big plus.
- Robert (10/5): - It nice and quiet
- james (2/5): - horrible
- amber (10/5): - This was our 2nd stay here. Owner is very sweet and location is perfect for visiting Pennhurst. We can tell theyve done some remodeling and its not so creepy looking lol but again we love the creepy vibe.
- Guilherme (10/5): - Good
- Shannon (4/5): - No dining at all about 10 rooms but Not my complaint biggest complaint was room was uncleanly toilet had blood and fecesall over it. I understand things happen when we ask kindly for it to be serviced it was cleaned poorly blood was still on the toilet. I asked nicely if he could finish cleaning or if I can take a cleaning product to finish the job. I service the whole room, cleaning, old, sticky dust all over the mini fridge and cabinets also the nightstands and tables. Everything was sticky and covered in dust He was slightly rude, but gave me some cleaning products never came to our room for service to give us any towels check up nothing our whole four day's nothing was provided. I bought a whole new bed set because the bed set provided had blood stains on multiple layers. They looked like they tried to wash them, but didn’t succeed so I went to Walmart to buy a mattress plastic cover a whole bed set that I left most of at the room in the end I don’t recommend staying at this hotel otherwise the area is nice convenient for tourist close to the Pennhurst asylum, but there has to be a better hotel somewhere in the area. Don’t recommend going to this one.
- Raquel (2/5): Dirty - Room was dirty. It smelled like smoke and cat pee. I think there was mold in the shower. The comforters smelled bad with cigarette holes in them and brown stains. The mattresses smelled bad. The shades on the windows were stained with what looked like human fluids, if you know what I mean. Not worth the price or risking bringing something home with you.
- Brett (4/5): - We booked a room with two beds. However, when we got there the guy at the desk said we had a reservation for a single bed. But then he said they didn't even have one of those available, and that the only room left had two beds, which we would have to pay extra for. On top of that, there is no breakfast, as advertised on both Expedia and on the hotel website.
- Raquel (8/5): - As others have said this is a small motel. It’s well kept, clean and family owned. Stayed here for close accommodations to a local event and it was lovely. The staff was friendly and accommodating and gave a great recommendation for local restaurants. The room looked exactly like the pictures… and there were no issues with any of the amenities. I will definitely stay here again for this event next year!
- MICHAEL (2/5): - I did not like anything about the property. Arrived after 6 and they didn't have my reservation. Its not a hotel, its a motel...the room wasn't ready and when we got in it it was dirty. The mattress is old, pillows even older and yellow the toilet seat was dirty. I left the room ASAP and booked a room at the Residence Inn. Which is where i will be staying next year when we come to the Pennhurst Paracon. What a bait and switch with pictures that are very misleading.
- Thornton (10/5): - Clean room nice shower quiet place nice scenery
- amber (10/5): - Older little property. We were only staying one night as we were doing an overnight ghost tour of pennhurst. Manager was very nice. Room was fairly clean, could use a good vacumming around floor board edges. Its located in the middle of beautiful country side. Bed was comfortable. Will be going back for another ghost tour so we will be staying here again.
- Michael (2/5): - There were bugs in the bed and the sheets were covered In stains
- Tiffany (4/5): Not so good - The beds had hair on them the cups had dust on them so I couldn’t use them there was white stuff on the red thing that goes at the end of the bed the shower was going every which way but on me
- Edward (10/5): - Excellent hospitality!
- James (6/5): - It is quiet and the room is nicely laid out. the two lights by the bed don't work and there is not instruction for how to use the TV. The staff person at front was very nice though he was told he needed to keep a paper copy of all my credit card information. I insisted that was not acceptable, so easy to steal. He understood. Currently I am wondering:
When do they deliver the continental breakfast to your room? No sight of anyone.
- Bruce (4/5): - Advertised queen was a comfortable double, slow drain in the sink, AC was extremely loud. These are things that would be tolerable if the price was less than $100, but they charged $150 . We got ripped off!
- Amy (6/5): - This is not a hotel: it’s a very small motel with few rooms in a row. The room was cooled with a window AC unit that was very noisy & turned off and on throughout the night, making it impossible to sleep well. The room itself was clean and spacious. The host or owner seemed friendly. While I paid in full online, the host or owner took a written imprint of my credit card & driver’s license in case of incidentals; I’m now concerned I will be charged extra despite leaving the room clean & undamaged, and I’m very concerned the written credit card info won’t be shredded properly for fraud prevention. Everything in the description was elevated or padded to make the motel, room, and amenities seem better than they were. I chose this motel based on proximity to an event; the relatively low price; and the very short duration of stay. Even so, I would not choose this motel again.
- luis (2/5): Outdated - Terrible condition .. it’s a low budget hotel.. place to stay if you are just trying to save money and not going to spend a lot of time in the room..
- nick (8/5): - Property was overall good and property owner was great about follow up and was very helpful. Had left item in room and property owner shipped it back to us.
- warren (8/5): Quiet and simple - The gentleman who checked me in, I assumed he was the the owner was very courteous and very polite. The location is rural and very tranquil. Room was simple but clean. Only downside was no ice machine on site.
- Kristi (4/5): - First, by definition, this is NOT a hotel. It is a motel. Old school motels can be very charming, so I booked two rooms at Anuva because it was very close to where my family was and there were no other places available. Once there, I felt it was very overpriced for the accommodations. Like other reviews, things were old and run down. The rooms did not smell fresh.
I was uncomfortable that no receipt was given even when I asked for one. The owner told me Expedia would be billing me. All other hotels give a receipt even when booked by an online travel service. Another reason why no receipt was given was the owner was not sure how much the cost would be until we left in case of damages or theft. Unfortunately, I know that is a problem for owners, but it does not give confidence when someone has your credit card information and will not give you a basic receipt. I reminded the owner that one of the rooms already had broken tiles and repairs in progress not wanting to be charged for damage my family did not do. He said he was aware
It was advertised that breakfast was included but it was not. Covid was the reason given but all other places I have stayed in the last month are serving breakfast without a problem. That is not such a big deal except it is included in the cost and there are no convenient places nearby. I had my grandchildren with me and could have planned better had I known.
On a positive note, I was happily surprised to hear birds singing in the morning.
- dawn (6/5): - This establishment charged me a $150 deposit when I checked in ..nothing was mentioned when I reserved my room online. Yes I did get my deposit back but would have been nice to know ahead of time in case I didn't have the extra money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible people. Rude.
- Not (4/5): - I kinda feel bad leaving this review because I feel like the gentleman who helped us at the front desk was friendly and kind, and might run the hotel on his own. Let's get the bad out of the way:
- this is a countryside hotel, not a motel
- no inside-only locks on the doors
- $250 deposit is completely unreasonable
- non-refundable room charge is unreasonable
- everything works but general state of disrepair
- carpet coming up, parts of A/C unit fell off while there
- neighbors noisy all hours of the night
- no breakfast served (cited COVID-19, but not masking)
- our room was only quickly cleaned
- previous tenant's food was partially eaten, could not try
The good:
- we remained safe
- our car and room were not broken into
- the appliances do work, even if rusting etc
- the bed was clean, no bugs
- someone probably likes the rainwater shower
Room rate was over $100 a night and I only got it because it was a bit of an emergency and closest to where we needed it. I would probably not stay here again unless the room rate were half the price and numerous things on the "bad" list were fixed.
- Aaron (10/5): - Beautiful hidden gem. Beds are not the best, but the shower makes up for it. $200 deposit on room, but worth it.
- ROSE (2/5): - The room was absolutely disgusting! The bedding had stains (brought my own bedding) and the furnishings were old and broken. The toilet was filthy with “hair” and urine residue that my husband had to clean for us to use. We barely slept and ended up leaving at 3am. I had read previous reviews and thought this would be a good choice with other hotels full due to local floods. Don’t even take a chance with this nastiness!!
- Francis (8/5): Surprisingly Decent. - I was surprised at the quality when I first arrived. You can tell it's been a family owned inn/motel for a long time. A main house with the check-in lobby nicely built in and a strip of units.
Service was very friendly; very "family owned" feel. The clientele did seem a little shady. I was there because everything was of course booked that Friday and prices were inflated, this place was in budget. Rennovated bathrooms, very nice overhead shower head, had a great shower. Nice bed. They need black-out shades though. The mini FRG & microwave worked.
Some of the furniture was damaged; the aforementioned shady clientele. I'd probably bring your own sheets to this one...probably most hotels for that matter. Located in beautiful rural PA, it also has a big field facing the strip of units. If you have a portable grill or kids.
- Karina (10/5): Awesome place ! - Our stay was great! Checked in late and the owner was very nice and accommodating. Wasn’t sure what to expect, walked in the room and it was beautiful. Very modern. Bed was super comfy. Very good lighting. Bathroom was the best part ! Awesome shower! It’s also very quiet with a nice view. It’s the first place I’d check for vacancy if I’m ever in the area again . Would deff recommend.
- Jennifer (10/5): Full recommended. - It was so comfortable, it can be a more clean but was ok. Really peaceful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Quite
- Matthew (8/5): Quaint and Simple - A simple room for a simple one-night stay. Quiet area.
- Nobody (2/5): - It's was the worse experience in my entire life of renting anything blood stained sheets with urine stains unclean bathroom.. absolutely no service or towels or sheets no vending machines ..total crook. Got a refund right away but it was a doozy. DO NOT GO HERE.
- melvinh821 (2/5): Construction - Manager is George was as rude as I ever seen anyone. He tells me I had to go seat in my car while he confirms reservation..I let it go at first then after being in the room for half hour I wasn't satisfied with room. Website is very misleading. After doing some research......It's not a hotel. It's not new just a few renovation to a old 10 room roadside roach and mice infested motel. Use to be called the G Lodge motel.he refuse to refund my money. I even asked for just half. He still refused.. I recommend using another motel or hotel
- Nathan (10/5): Great - It was a great stay for a very good price
- M.C.G. (2/5): - My father had a medical emergency, wasn't able to make my stay, wasn't able to get a refund. So literally out $90
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice little place, affordable, and in a good location out in the country.
- Javier (8/5): - Clean and comfortable
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I showed up after driving 2 hours . I went to the check in door which was locked and rang doorbell 5 times. No one answered there was no information in the window as to how to check in or how to contact someone to check in. I had to find another hotel to stay. This is a small country roadside motel not a hotel.
After all this the hotel would not offer me a refund.
- Alan (8/5): - This place from the outside looks nothing like the inside of the rooms. Outside looks like a bargain motel but the rooms are contemporary and very clean with great fixtures and the bed was extremely comfortable. A wonderful surprise after going into the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bed bugs carpenter ants did not stay property owner would not refund my money after I told him
Had to spend 400.00 to stay at Marriott and lost 250.00 at this place it was not a hotel
- NKB (10/5): - The manager was friendly. Check in was quick and easy. The hotel was near my event.
- John (8/5): Nice place to stay off beating path but close - Great Room (small for more than 2 though). Real comfotable bed. Had a desk and chair as well as another chair to sit in. Big cabinet/closet with coffee maker, fridge and microwave on it as well as full length mirrored door. Rainhead shower with tub. Night comes with contintental breakfast (you must call the desk and set this up as it room service, and they wont mention unless you ask)
(
- John (8/5): Nice place - Real nice place. Out of the hustle and bustle but close enough if you want to get into it. The only complaint I have is listing says contential breakfast but never saw it or a place that they could have it. Room is small for more than but great if u are two or less. Rainhead shower
- Areti (8/5): - Very nice updates. Found a food container with food in microwave and a ditty pillow case next to the bed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Reasonably priced and decent room and and clean - Decent place . Decent price . In and out
- Xavior (8/5): - The property was a quaint little spot in the countryside, lush greenery, onsite free parking.
Only think I don’t like were the towels, if you needed exfoliation the towels were rough enough to provide it.
- Upset (2/5): Creepy and rude manager - We we're scared to check in. I feared for my kid's safety. Asked for a cancellation but the manager was too rude and have no customer service at all. This is not a hotel as its name advertises. Don't ever go to this place.
- ECtheTraveler (6/5): - The breakfast is declared as continental, but it was far from so... You had a few things to choose from and the guy only said it is for two people although we made the reservation for a family of four... It would be honest if it was mentioned that there is no breakfast but complimentary items available...
and the guy was rude during the check-in...
- Erin (10/5): - My husband and I stayed here this past weekend driving 5 hours to attend an event in a nearby town. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the great location. A private and beautiful area that is J
just a short drive to Phoenixville, Valley Forge, and the highway. A hidden gem really. The room was exactly what we wanted. Modern and up to date, enough space to be comfortable and still move around. The entire room was very clean, and most importantly for me, not only was the bathroom nice and clean, it also featured a very stylish and updated shower. Staff was extremely kind and welcoming.
We will be attending his event annually, and this is the only hotel we plan on booking for our visits.
- Ken (6/5): Decent Place - I would not call this a "hotel" for sure! We arrived for a late check in. Driving up to the motel gave us some uneasiness, but once inside the room, we found it to be nice. I would describe it as oddly, uniquely nice. The room was clean and updated; sort of a new retro style. There was supposed to be a continental breakfast included, but it was not available that day. Overall, if you need a clean, decent place to sleep for the night, it's good.
- 'John (10/5): Nice clean place. - Owner was very very friendly. Let me check in at 11am since I was in town working overnights. The room was clean and it wasn't noisy. I have no complaints at all.
- Disappointed (4/5): - It was advertised with a deep soaking tub. The tub wasn't deep and the drain would not plug and my wife was unable to take a bath after a long day on the road. There was barely any room to set anything down anywhere. The toilet paper was razor thin. "Garden view" was non-existent.
- Tara (6/5): - It was OK. Not bad, not great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing, cozy hotel stay - I was so suprised by this hotel! When I pulled up in the middle of the night I thought, oh no. Harshad was such a gracious inn keeper kind and helpful. The room was beautiful, everything was recently remodeled. The room was the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. You can tell the pride Harshad takes in his hotel. I would highly recommend staying here, the room was small but had everything needed for a great stay
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible room & service. - The hotel experience was terrible. The room had bugs & the manager refuse to clean the room. He gave us a can of bug spray & told us to spray the room. We had to leave the room so not to inhale the toxic bug spray. Then the shower broke. The manager refuse to come by fix it & accused us for breaking it. We will not recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was ok, but the shower was broken and I burnt my foot.
- Ziggyz85 (10/5): Quite motel - It's a quite motel that is newly renovated and is very nice and accommodating including the staff that works there. I really like it here cause it's situated out of town and is very peaceful and it only has maybe 10 rooms so hardly any noise which I can appreciate, I would come back again.
- Edna (8/5): Plain but good - The room was a little on the spartan side--no dresser or drapes. However, it was very functional, the beds were good and the location was quiet.
- Mare (2/5): HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! - I reserved this hotel online and got the confirmation. Later when I got to the hotel, AFTER driving ONE hour just for this HOTEL, they told me there was no vacancy and that even though I had the Orbitz confirmation, that did not mean anything because they didnt have any rooms left. They DID NOTHING to help find another hotel and the location of this hotel was FAR away from andy other hotel and it was almost 11PM when I left there to go and try to find another hotel room at that hour. VERY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE and I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS TYPE OF SERVICE! IF there were not rooms left...I SHOULD NOT have been able to reserve one! QUITE AWFUL to do that to someone!! Also, on the website the hotel looks like it is one building and the rooms are inside...however, the rooms are all outside and there is a separate building where the clerk is to check in. ALSO, VERY MISLEADING based on the PICS!!
- Samuel (10/5): The simple things in Travel - This is a simple place, not a resort. If my lady friend had been traveling with me, this would not have been an option. Basic needs and minimal amenities, like windows... Door lock took a couple tries, but worked as after a fashion.
- timothybI1812HL (2/5): Rip OFF! - The rooms were dirty and the air conditioning was not working right and the manager gave someone else the room key so they just walked right in.
The manager also asked my disabled mother to work cleaning rooms.
I would give this place negative stars if possible.
- RhiaBuc (2/5): 7 room Motel... Not a hotel in any sense - Please do not go to this place. Here are the reasons why;
1. This is a 7 room motel behind an Indian family's home.
2. The rates are ridiculously overpriced for this place and is not inclusive of anything as advertised.
3. It is a common occurrence it seems for them to loose your reservation even though you have a confirmation email and show that you booked and prepaid for your room.
Unless you are ok with sleeping in an overpriced motel, do not book at this place.
Thanks
RB
- Verified traveler (2/5): Misrepresentation!! Not a hotel at all!!! - Pulled in to the "hotel" which is a small cluster of shacks!! Out in the middle of nowhere. No cars around. Called to cancel and they refused to refund our money! Would NEVER recommend or ever consider staying there! Looked like a motel from a horror movie!!
- brooket262 (2/5): BAD!! - I Booked this 'Hotel" on cheap tickets.com in August and was required to pay upfront. Check-ni was at 3pm and due to unforseen circumtances we were going to arrive late. I called at 6pm and spoke to a women and told her we would be arriving late and she said that was fine. We arrived at 11:00 pm to find this was not a hotel, it was a small motel that I pais $178.00!! for. The office was the back of a house and it was all dark. We rand the door bell and a man came to the door . I told him we were checking in and he informed me there were no rooms left. I told him no that I had a reservation and that I had called at 6pm. He told me that they had a room at 6pm but it was now not available. I told him but we already paid but he insisted that he was given no money. I called cheap tickets.com who awnsered as orbitz.com . The lady on the phone but me on hold to call the hotel for 10 minutes only to come back and say they gave our room away! to make a very long story short they are issuing a refund but that doesnt change the fact we were out until 3am to find another place to stay.
- Tyler (4/5): - The blankets and sheets had stains on them. There is no breakfast and it is not a hotel. It is a motel. We found black hairs all over the place. Very dirty.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Country style hotel quiet location. - The Hotel was ok, had all the necessities, good Wi-Fi, quiet location and it is set in a lovely green belt location. We were a little disappointed that we were so far from Philadelphia although the driving to and from was easy enough. Price is a little high for the location.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Small stay with quiet getaway. - Quiet area & peaceful. Small but personal. Lacks housekeeping. Not priced right for the money. Further than I expected to travel. Ease of parking.
- Tai (6/5): - I had a comfortable stay and was able to enjoy rejuvenating sleep!
- BCooney (2/5): Aew...just aew! - We had to stay somewhere a little while ago after losing electricity in our home. This place was around the corner and recently renovated so I figured we would give it a shot. Yeah, we would have been better off sleeping in our backyard. I think there would have been less bugs. I also know that the female thingy that was left on the floor next to my bed (unused, but still GROSS) would not have been in my backyard.
As others have stated, stay away!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight returning from a wedding - Decent place in the country and a quiet location. Good value in the area for a short stay. While the booking said there was a breakfast buffet, it either wasn't offered or not available when we were there. Should have asked, but we arrived late and slept in as it was, but not much in the way of food options nearby.
- Kenneth (8/5): - The rooms were nice and the bathroom was spacious.
- Sanges99 (4/5): Awfully Deceiving Dive of a Motel - What a dive. This place is billed as a *hotel* when it is a very small *MOTEL*. 10 tiny suites (for lack of a better term) all at ground level. Not only that, but many of the exterior pictures that the owners have posted across the internet are actually of a park--and even that's not very close to this motel.
We stayed here in the beginning of July, it was our fifth choice of places to stay in the surrounding area and the only place that didn't cost $300+ for having vacancy on a Saturday. The worst reviews we read were about outdoor bugs getting in, so we thought, 'well, that's not so bad as long as everything else is good-enough'--everything else definitely was not.
We got in, signed some paperwork and the owner/manager swiped our credit card with those old school kinds that originated in the 70's that are far too easy to hack so the majority of business did away with them (the kind that literally swipes over the card and makes carbon copies). FLAG 1.
We started to unload the car--we were given the Handicap Accessible room for the weekend (which we definitely did not ask for so we thought that was odd) and also the furthest room away from the separate house that acts as the motel's office. As we start to unload we're gawked at the entire time, by a woman sitting outside her room's stoop smoking--I said to Heather, as long we don't get mugged like in the movie GONE GIRL, hopefully we'll be alright. FLAG 2?
We get in, and start doing an inspection. My main concern was bed bugs and regular bugs--which thankfully we found none other--one of the only perks. The place immediately took a dive right off the cliff of being "nice." We heard from a local acquaintance that the place might've been given money a few years back when Mark Wahlberg had filmed a movie in the area--well, they apparently took all that money and spent it on the ceilings, floors, and lighting (which all looked nice), but nothing else.
On the bed, were three regular-sized pillows and a decorative pillow--for two occupants to share, really. The decorative pillow and the bottom sheet both had what looked like (and we hoped) could be described only as "packaging residue" like when something has a really nasty sticker adhesive on it and you only find out once you try to take the sticker off? The one pillow smelled faintly like someone's perfume, double-UGH.
There was a nice little desk in the corner, but that had an office chair you could pickup at Walmart for $20 which was obviously very-worn in. For usable surface area, the main room with the bed, desk and TV, had 2 nightstands, the desk, and room on the TV stand, along with a stand-alone closet (which someone beat the corners up exposing chipped-away particle board all over). Meanwhile the bathroom literally had just the sink, toilet and tub--if you brought your own amenities (and who doesn't at least travel with hair products, a toothbrush, or something anyway?) you have to keep them in the main room despite there being plenty of space in the bathroom for something--ANYTHING else. There were outlets all over the place, that's one other good thing about staying there. FLAG 3-5.
The tub had an enormous rainfall showerhead. Too bad it shot out at three different angles, making sure to narrowly miss you, or else soaking the tiled bathroom floor. It also didn't look like had been cleaned in nearly a year. One of the washcloths we were provided had a black, washed-in stain on it, oh and some of the towels were also threadbare, too. What is with this place? Has no one showed them what a clean and maintained "hotel" is actually supposed to look like? You don't keep it "clean" like you do a house, it's supposed to be sanitary like your guests are the first to ever stay in the room! Then to top-off the wonderful bathroom amenities, the narrow step-on fliptop garbage in the bathroom... wasn't emptied before we checked-in; it had someone's washcloth in it which didn't quite match the threadbare, plain-white ones the motel provided, so we were staring at a washcloth probably brought by a guest, and was still residing in our room. FLAG 6
Then to add insult to injury, the wifi barely worked on any of our devices; our ipod and ipad didn't even recognize either of the two signals and only my own android phone got one-bar. Even the wifi apparently hasn't been updated since the Wahlbergs might or might not have visited.
When we immediately complained the following morning and asked for a refund for the next night, the woman behind the desk refused to believe any of our issues and insisted that they've "never had any complaints." Well, now there's at least one.
Stay here, but only if you absolutely don't have a choice, or don't know what a decent stay at a real hotel is like.
- brookeg609 (2/5): Beware. Not a hotel! - I booked this "hotel" on hotels.com. Buyer beware. This is not a hotel by any means. It is a creepy motel. Prices charged for a room is outrageous. They have less than 10 rooms. Paint is peeling. Beds and mattresses are worn out and old. Hotel "manager" would not refund my money. I ended up not staying. Currently in the process of trying to get a refund. They also charged me twice for this horrible room!!! If staying in the area drive a little further to limerick or Pottstown. Don't stay at this dump!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Buyer Beware - First point this is not a hotel. It is a motel. This place has less than 10 rooms. These are not "suites" as advertised. They are shabby tiny rooms with terrible beds. We didn't even stay for the nite. Ended up getting a room in Limerick for a way better price. Management is rude. They charged my credit card twice. I am now disputing the charges. Absolutely misrepresented. This place is a horror. Your best bet is to not book this place and drive on.
- Tyler (10/5): A good night sleep - If your looking for a place to crash ether for the night or a weekend this is a great place to stay. Service was good, condition of the room was fine and the bed was comfortable. It's not to far from everything you might need (food, gas, shopping, entertainment, etc.) Don't expect much out of the room it has the necessaties you need; it's not really meant for a family just a solo person or a small group best used for a night or 2. Overall a good experience.
- 725janetp (2/5): This is a "MOTEL" not a "HOTEL". No pictures on any sites. Find that strange?? - I didn't notice that there were no pictures for this 'Hotel' when I booked it. Advertised as a new 'Hotel' in Spring City, PA. Wow! I'd love to stay at a new hotel! And, seeing three stars, I booked a reward night through my credit card and a second night that I paid in advance. I get there, it's a shack painted white with doors go the parking lot, directly from the rooms. Maybe 5 - 10 rooms total? OMG! This was no 'Reward'!! I didn't want to stay in this 'MOTEL'! I thought I booked a 'Hotel'. Hotel makes one believe that the facility will have restaurants, meeting rooms, etc. Nada. Went to the office. Door bell broken. Door a mess. Locked in the middle of the day (separate building). No way was I staying there! I don't care if the rooms were nice like these reviews said. I don't believe these reviews and wonder if they were sent in by the proprietors themselves? This is NOT a hotel and they DO NOT offer photos. Beware! I should have been more careful. I'm not looking a star ratings ever again and I want to see PICTURES! PICTURES WOULD HAVE SPOKEN A THOUSAND WORDS! Hind sight is 20/20.
- Roswitha Maria (4/5): The Anuva Motel - We went to attend a wedding, so only needed a place to change, shower and sleep.
To be honest, the Anuva is hardly a hotel - it's more of a motel..
But the room was clean enough and the beds were clean and comfortable
- 904raeh (6/5): Average. - Our stay at this place was ok. It was reasonably priced and not more than 10 minutes from Phoenixville. However, it is not a "hotel" as advertised in the name, but a motel..the doors to the rooms (of which there are 10) open directly to the parking lot. If you dont mind that, this isnt a bad place to stay. There are a few things I would take into account before you stay there though;
Pros:
- only $87 a night
- safe
- near a trail/outdoor activity area
- nice scenery
- pleasant managers
- updated rooms
- no bugs (other reviews said they found bugs, but our room was clean)
- Clean bathroom with working and draining sink, toilet, and shower. Some people don't care, but this is a big deal for me.
Cons:
- Room looked like it hadn't been dusted in 2 weeks or so; everything was clean, but there was a good layer of dust on everything. I can sort of understand this if we just dropped in, but I booked our stay 2 days in advance.
- There is no breakfast service as advertised. It was never offered, but perhaps this was because we did not specifically request it.
- At no point during our stay did we receive fresh towels or sheets, more shampoo or soap, or additional toilet paper. Again, I suppose we could have gone to the office to request these things, but really?
- The "recreation areas" they advertise are not on their property or premises, but are about half a mile down the road.
- Very thin walls. I could hear a relatively quiet phone conversation in the next room, so if you're going to stay here, be prepared to bring some earlpugs.
I've seen the responses to the other reviews and they all say something to the effect of "Thank you for taking the time to review...." and then they try to discredit all the complaints of the reviewer. I'm here to say I did not exaggerate or embellish anything in my review. I would stay here again in a pinch, but it would not be my first choice.
- Michael (6/5): Motel with a hotel name. - The manager was friendly, though he did not know the area well. Negative point was that the "free" breakfast was delivered through room service and had to be ordered the night before. That means free=tip. There was no kitchen or dining room. As others have noted, this is a motel with a hotel name. Oh yeah, the bathroom door didn't close properly.
- bhramorib (10/5): Very Cozy and Comfortable!! - I have been staying in this hotel 2 days a week for more than a month now. Its a small property and the decor of the rooms are very elegant! The rooms and the bathrooms are neat, clean, comfortable and extremely equipped. The small room has a reading desk, a microwave and a fridge. It is very reasonably priced and the breakfast is included (which is a room service). It is 20 minute drive from the highway located in countryside. It is a very good place to stay specially if you are on a vacation. Also the managers are very kind and helpful!!
- AshFurnace (4/5): Meh - I read these reviews before going, some good and some bad, but went in with an open mind. I was pleasantly surprised by the contemporary and new decor and furnishings and was happy to have a fridge. The breakfast that they deliver to your door in the morning was also plentiful.
However, we went to our event and got back around 12:30. We pulled down the covers and there it was, a black 1/2 inch bug under the covers! I was grossed out but it seemed too late to call the front desk so we shook out the blankets and tried to sleep. I told the gentlemen at checkout about the bug and hoped to hear "We're so sorry, we'll take care of it" or something like that but what I got was "It was probably a stink bug and they come in when you open the door and we can't avoid it". I get it, bugs exist, but for it to be in the sheets just felt gross. I wish the gentlement took my concern more seriously than it seems he did.
- mandeet2016 (2/5): Don't stay here! Bugs and management stole my money when I said I couldn't sleep with bugs - I was traveling alone and had seen the beautiful website and thought this was a very nice place...boy was I wrong. It ruined my trip. My room was dirty and had four large bugs on the wall and ladybugs all inside. I slightly freaked out and they offered me another room. The second room had bugs in it as well! I took pics and went back to office to be told my money could not be given back to me. I was on somewhat of a budget and after them taking my $(I was literally crying in the office) and telling management I couldn't afford to stay anywhere they STILL kept my money. Their offer to solve the problem was to "take care of the bugs". NO THANK YOU. I had to get money wired to me to finish my stay. I'm discusted.
- GEdwardH (6/5): Anuva Hotel after renovation. - The room was small but the amenities were new and the facility was very clean. I was the single occupant and would have had space issues with another person there.
There are no gym facilities. For some that means nothing but I would have used a gym if available.
The price was right for the area and the hotel is close enough to where you want to be but still quiet and secluded.
- RoundTopper (6/5): Thank you!!! - We tried the Anuva on the reference of a friend, and we're glad we did! It's newly re-done, and is quite nice. Underneath the "new," it's still an older place, though, but it's quiet, out of the way, and well-kept. We were a bit disappointed in the lack of surface area to put things, and also with the toilet paper, which was thinner than thin. But the bed was comfortable and we felt quite safe. There's a continental breakfast included which is delivered to your door; it's not a buffet, and it's not gourmet, but it's food and it was welcomed. There's in-room coffee as well. This place is not the best place we've ever been, but we will definitely stay there again when we come back to Phoenixville.
- 399ashleyf (4/5): Photos are decieving... - My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. We booked a room with a king sized bed. When we arrived, we were told it was given away and we had to take a room with two full size beds. We were disappointed. When we got into the room, it was very cold. We turned on the electric heater and came back a few hours late. It was still VERY COLD and the heater itself had obviously not turned on. I called management and let them know. They told me, "just wait it will come on." It did not. The temperature dropped down close to 40 that night. The television was incredibly blurry. The hotel is listed as a HOTEL, but really it is a motel. The rooms exit directly into the parking lot. There is no buffet breakfast as listed. It is a cold breakfast of a piece of fruit, a cold drink, and a cold cereal. The walls of the rooms are incredibly thin and we heard the couple next door. Unfortunately, I woke up with bites all over my arms the next morning.
- EvD2012 (8/5): Very nice - I stayed here a few times this winter and I think it is a good value. The rooms are clean and have some nice extras like the fridge and microwave. The highlight for us was the bathrooms which are very clean and the shower has great pressure..not weak like some hotels. It is a small property, but we have had pleasant stays w/no issues. I've checked out a few other places in the area and none really match the comfort and cleanliness.
- foxwa (8/5): Really met our needs - My wife and I stayed at this property for 3 weeks during late January and early February 2013. The location was perfect for our visit to the area - at the centre of everything we needed to accomplish. This is NOT really a hotel - it is a motel. The small rooms are well equipped for an overnight stay but need enhancement for longer stays - the management accommodated the best they could. Great beds. The old house at the front serves as the manager's residence and reception area. Access to reception is limited by a locked door - friends could not use it. We had trouble with key cards not always working. The layout is susceptible to noise in the car park which happened mostly on the weekend with late arrivals. All in all it served us well - thanks Anuva.
- RandyF795 (10/5): Impressive value, exceeded expectations - I needed a place to stay overnight while travelling through the area and found this hotel on a quick search of google maps. I generally stay at SPG properties, but there wasn't one in the area, so I decided to take a chance and stay at this independent based on some of the google reviews. I had a very nice stay -- the bathroom was one of the cleanest I've seen and the bed was quite comfortable. Wifi worked great and I was surprised to find that breakfast was included in the rate and was a room service type deal (place your order, they deliver it to your room at the time you request). Front desk lady was very nice and willing to help. Overall, this place is an excellent value, it could easily charge $30 more per night if they wanted to for the quality..and I'd still pay it.
- MarcusF243 (10/5): Excellent stay - This really is a little gem of a property that's in a nice quiet area while still being convenient to the major hubs. I stayed in a queen suite through an orbitz booking and the room was very clean and comfortable. I stayed for a little over a week and it was perfect for getting into King of Prussia via back roads and avoiding bad traffic on 422 in the mornings. Would definitely stay here again and recommend. The rates are unbeatable for the quality and location.
