Guest Reviews
- Mel (9/5): -
- John (10/5): Lovely boutique inn where you would want to spend more days than planned. - Lovely garden setting. Spacious well designed rooms and bath. RADIANT HEAT IN BATHROOM!!!! Lovely breakfast personally made up in beautiful contemporary dining room. While an easy drive into city center it was a challenging 30+ minute walk on a heavily trafficked road.
- Katherine (10/5): - Stunning property with very helpful and friendly staff.
- Sonja (10/5): -
- Blasse (10/5): The perfect place to end our trip. ❤️ - Everything!!!! Beautiful artwork, gardens, rooms and helpful staff. The food was fantastic and the mocha coffee the best I’ve had!!! Could have sat in the atrium area and lounged all day. Nice thought was the marshmallows by the fire to have at night. Great bathrooms with fabulous lighting. Couldn’t think of anything. The stay was perfect.
- Jean-Christophe (6/5): - Rigolo un côté suranné étrange
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional hotel and staff - Exceptional hotel..wonderful staff- they go above and beyond ! Chef was outstanding as well. The hotel and the gardens were so beautiful. So many private places to sit. Nothing
- Anton (10/5): Would visit again without doubt - Location was very accessible, walkable to the city, down hill, the return a little more challenging but a very short Uber ride. Breakfast was fresh produce, prepared virtually in the dining area with very attentive staff, absolute pleasure. NA

- jeffrey (9/5): We were sorry to depart! - Loved breakfast; the dining room and gardens are gorgeous! Someone checked in to the room next door very late at night & woke us up. Not fun.
Then someone began talking to a room-mate or on the phone at 4:00 am. Also, not fun.
Perhaps guests in the main house should be told upon arrival that the rooms are not soundproof at all.
- Brent (5/5): -
- Ismael (10/5): Great place, great service, perfect to discover Hobart, work or relax. - Breakfast, the room, the service, the little garden.
- Ulreich (8/5): -
- Corey (10/5): - From being greeted on arrival to check out, the stay was exceptional, Receptionist/manager was happy, the place was spacious and had plenty off outdoor/indoor area to chill to relax in from the Garden to the Lounges, Plenty of space to park especially with having a big 4wd, Room facilities were as described and on photos N/A

- brooke (10/5): - great service, breakfast and lucky enough to snag an upgrade to a bigger room. The garden is stunning plus I love the ease of parking on site/being out of the city a bit for privacy. Third stay.
- Dreamer67 (10/5): Excellent except for air-conditioning - It was amazing and the staff where super friendly. Air-conditioning in room was locked and could not be change. Very clammy and sticky at night.
Also in booking.com it stated free mini bar but mini bar was definitely not free.
- Adele (9/5): -
- Emily (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): Three nights in Hobart - Lovely boutique hotel, nice people
- Eadie (10/5): - We absolutely loved everything.
Beautiful boutique hotel.
Amazing gardens around the property.
Excellent service from all the boys.
Liam and Beshir, thank you for such an enjoyable stay.
Nothing was a problem for them.
Very good breakfast prepared by the chef daily.
We will definitely be back. Loved everything
- Shane (10/5): The perfect getaway, stunning property and exceptional service, highly recommended! - It was stunning and exceptionally presented, the staff were amazing , attentive and very hospitable, made a birthday stay perfect. Nothing to complain about at all
- Gabriela (10/5): -
- susan (9/5): -
- Siobhain (10/5): Perfect for our first trip to Tassie - Everything the manager Kerry Anne what a beautiful lady goes above and beyond. Nothing
- Siobhain (10/5): We will return - Beautiful N/A
- Julieanne (10/5): A decadent stay in a wonderful small hotel. Thank you. We will be back. - It was luxurious, quiet and a delightful experience. Nothing
- Ben (10/5): - The staff were beautifully personal giving an immediate homely feel.
The shower and bathroom were spacious, well lit.
Turn down camomile tea was a nice touch, as was the variety of pillows on offer (although the ones we had on check in were perfect).
A huge a very comfy bed.
- Roger (10/5): -
- elias (10/5): - The warm welcome and took care of all our needs Nothing to dislike
- nicole (10/5): Home away from home. - From check-in to check-out the staff could not do enough to enhance your stay.
Upon arrival the manager of the hotel greeted us with a big smile and made us feel like we were a long lost family member. We sat down and had a cuppa with her where we were told the history of this unique residence that has been re invented over the decades to create this unique hotel. We were then shown to our room which had breathtaking views of Mt Wellington and the manicured gardens. We went into Hobart city for dinner and on our return to our room we found a complimentary tea and treats. After a great nights sleep sleep we had the included breakfast, pastries cakes etc. I could not fault this place at all. In fact, I believe the hospitality industry should look at the Islington as a model for which other hotels could aim to be. Thank you Islington, We will be back.
- Vianne (9/5): - Very good location , view and very quiet , nice small boutique hotel 🥰 The food not many variety
- Maria (10/5): -
- Nathan (10/5): - This was a wonderful location. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.
- Clayton (10/5): Highly recommend, amazing people, very special stay - Beautiful views, even better people! It was perfect
- ariel (10/5): -
- Vance (10/5): Superb - The heritage of the building, the comfort, the staff & everything! I couldn’t stay long enough
- Ka Lai (10/5): -
- Lyn (10/5): - Beautiful hotel. Great lunch. Excellent service.
- Karen (10/5): Cannot fault this beautiful heritage house. We are coming back for our Anniversary next year. - Everything. From the moment we stepped in the front door, our host Karen was absolutely amazing. She made us feel so welcomed and comfortable, made us a complimentary cup of tea with bickies in the morning room. Our room was stunning, I could have stayed for a week. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Just a stunning place. Nothing
- Jaime (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, natural surroundings and very welcoming host. Nothing, it was amazing!
- SUET MEI IRIS (10/5): - The garden view from our room is perfect, flowers full bloom in this Spring season. Breakfast is well served with their famous local teas. But they don’t serve dinner so we need to go out to eat.
- Jules (10/5): Beautiful hotel and gardens run by friendly and helpful people - Beautiful hotel with lots of character and history. The garden room was very comfortable with a view of the stunning garden. Breakfast was delicious and sitting round the fire with marshmallows was fun! Nothing
- Zara (10/5): The best 5 star experience in Hobart! - Absolutely everything was divine Nothing to fault
- Richard (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Islington. Exceptional service with a smile everyday in superb surrounds including the manicured gardens. We will be back again very soon!
- Denis (9/5): Beautiful and very comfortable boutique hotel a short distance from Hobart CBD in an upmarket area - Staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly, chatty and approachable. No request seemed too much trouble!
The hotel was beautifully presented with an interesting mixture of old and new sections that were stylish and blended well. The gardens are also lovely and very well maintained.
Rooms were a good size, very comfortable bed, and the bathroom was also a generous size with under-floor heating.
The breakfast options were simple but delicious with lots of local produce. An open fire in the dining area created a warm and cosy atmosphere. It was nice sitting by the fire, too, in the evenings!
The hotel is easy to get to and there is on-site parking. Nothing negative stands out. The dining options in the evenings are limited but there are plenty of places nearby so that this is not likely a problem.
- Moana (9/5): We will now stay here every time we’re in Hobart - Such a lovely hotel with wonderful staff, you feel at home instantly The restaurant was closed for dinner when we stayed, but the room service suited our late arrival perfectly so this didn’t affect us at all
- David (10/5): - Excellent Parking a little tight
- Frank (9/5): Excellent. Not much else to say! - We stayed in room 11 in early September 2025. We would not normally stay in a place like Islington due to budgetary restrictions, but as this was a special occasion, we splurged. We had stayed here before, so we knew our stay would be special. The Hotel is a magnificent blend of old and new with meticulous gardens and a stunning view of Mount Wellington (it snowed during our stay). The whole stay was wonderful and the breakfast is top-end restaurant quality. The onsite property manager was very attentive and her focus on customer satisfaction made our stay even more enjoyable. The only thing we could complain about was the Restaurant not technically being 'open' for dinner. We did have dinner in the restaurant one night and the meals were excellent and the open fireplace and ambience certainly made up for the reduced menu. The staff were very attentive and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed what was available.
- Janice (10/5): Beautiful Boutique Hotel - Absolutely LOVED this hotel. It was our first stay here but it certainly won't be our last! Stunningly appointed with a rich, eclectic and intriguing range of original art works positioned throughout the property. Luxurious rooms, super comfortable bed, views over the immaculately kept garden nestled beneath a snow topped Mount Wellington. Attention to detail with considerate touches. The hotel was stylish, yet felt Intimate and homely. The staff were wonderful too - they couldn't do enough for you. We couldn't have asked for more! Highly recommended, best little hotel in Hobart (and being based in Tassie, we have stayed in most of them!). A slightly later departure than 10.00 am would have been the icing on the cake, though at no time did we feel pushed to leave - we were able to have a very leisurely breakfast not leaving until 10.30 (and we were not the last guests to leave!).
- jamie (10/5): - I have to say this is the best hotel in Hobart, my partner and I get a hotel room 1 to 2 nights a week.
From the time you walk in the front door, to when you leave, the staff are welcoming, attentive, and helpful. Breakfast is the Best and it's included in the stay, parking is on-site, easy to find.
We'll be back again

- Patricia (10/5): -
- Donna and Stephen (8/5): - No review
- EMILY (10/5): Luxury so close to the centre of Hobart made our stay an experience that we will always treasure. - Outstanding service, lovely view, beautiful architecture. Make sure you sit in front of the fireplace for a marshmallow!
- Samantha (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in great part of Hobart!
Breakfast was wonderful!
- 김 (10/5): - 아무튼 호바트 여행 숙소는 여기로 고정입니다잉
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - The service and the view
- Linda (10/5): Heavenly stay at the gorgeous Islington Hotel . - Amazingly beautiful building and manicured gardens. Comfy beds, beautiful artwork, interesting bespoke furniture and objects d’art delight the senses. There are lots of personal thoughtful touches like treats at bedtime ensured that we felt we were in a tranquil and relaxing setting. The meals and treats were so incredibly yummy- Thank you to the wonderful chef.
I wish to thank wholeheartedly all the beautiful staff for their welcome and kind attention to detail. The beautiful lady who welcomed us deserves an extra special thank you. My long time friend & I had a really memorable stay and we are already planning our next stay. We felt thoroughly spoilt - two very happy ladies. In all my years of travel I have never stayed anywhere I enjoyed more than The Islington. Linda & Leeanne Not Applicable- everything was perfect.
- Meng (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henry (10/5): Exceptional -

- Gargioni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Fantastic Service - outstanding - on arrival the greeting was brilliant- customer service professional staff! warm & welcoming, efficient & friendly, just amazing excellent & highly rated 🙂 It was a great place, but had some of the items in the room that needed maintenance - such as the air conditioning filter warning light flashing on and off all night, and there was a major crack in the window and a broken fitting in the bath. all of these things were minor and did not detract from an overall outstanding amazing stay.
- Wayne (10/5): - Overall excellent, however, we had no heat for the first night. Staff had to bring in a portable heater.
- Gareth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant choice for a trip to Hobart - Absolutely amazing accommodation and staff - we will be coming back !

- aya (10/5): - Like you own home . Every thee was very warm and helpful. I highly commend this hotel .
- Temyka (10/5): Unique Gem - This hotel was wonderful, we left wishing we had more time. The check in process was quite personal with a welcome beverage and tour and the staff put in the wood fire place (with marshmallows) for us to cozy up next too while we checked in and later in the evening set us up with a table next to the wood fire to have our take away dinner at the hotel. The service was phenomenal, the room was cozy, the bath was heaven and the grounds were stunning and communal rooms were great to sit and relax or play games. We booked last minute after a horrible experience at another hotel and were just blown away. We had the best, quiet and comfortable night sleep. We will be back, it's such a gem for Hobart.
- Rob (10/5): Loved returning to the property after a full day touring. - Spacious room with beautiful outlook.
Fabulous bathroom layout.
Beautiful garden and lounges to sit on outside room.
- David (7/5): We had stayed some 9 years earlier this visit did not live up to our expectations - Breakfast was very good, location was not so good Food offer very poor
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saimon (10/5): Excellent for resting your body and mind. - Very calm and peaceful place! With a bonfire, marshmallows and mountain views. Excellent breakfast. I will definitely be back.

- Jenelle (10/5): Excellence at its Best - Everything from the greeting with cuppa and biscuits, the room, the garden surrounds and breakfasts were all exceptional.
- Mitchell (10/5): - Outstanding hotel with great views, wonderful rooms, and friendly service. Terrific breakfast, too.
- dean (10/5): - Breakfast and cleanliness.
- Jill (10/5): Beautiful room. I was made to feel very welcome by the staff. I’ll stay there again. - Breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks Caroline! Beautiful quiet accessible room. Perfect for someone with a disability like me. Great location. I could have been a few centimetres taller so that I could get into the very high bed more easily. My problem, I’m very short!
- Riley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roy (8/5): Very good -
- Chantal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (7/5): Good - Good breakfast.
Beautiful grounds
Helpful staff Disappointing bathroom in our room
No restaurant open for dinner
- Megan (10/5): Incredibly beautiful hotel with excellent value. - I was very impressed with the hotel's cleanliness, style and aesthetics, from the communal areas to the room itself. For the price we paid for the room, I think we received exceptional value. The staff was great at every interaction and I will definitely come back and stay here again. The location was fantastic; it's truly is a gem in Hobart. I wish the hotel had a pool but the beautiful rooms, gardens and outdoor areas more than make up for this.
- Michael (9/5): Overall an exceptional property which just seems to be missing something since our last visit before it was sold to a Ho - The beautiful facilities and gardens. Exceptional property we have stayed at in the past They have stopped providing dinner service so each night means finding, booking and driving to another restaurant . Hot breakfast a little below par this visit and only cold croissants and muffins with very good muesli.
