Guest Reviews
- chester (6/5): Me - Old and wore out tv and room
- Michael (8/5): - Very safe and secure and amazing staff
- Jeremy (8/5): - close to everything
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): - very convenient to the unwinding establishments and shopping centers
- Duy (8/5): Pearl lane - It was good for price
- Verified traveler (4/5): - 10
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- AiAi (8/5): - Breakfast is better than then.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Lynne (8/5): Good accomodation, good service - I was given a smoking room but when I requested for a non smoking they gave me one but with an extra charge. Lesson is always specify before hand when you make the booking
- Patrick (8/5): - The things in this hotel is old. Hair dryer can only work for 15 seconds and stop. Awhile later can start again. Aircon control spoiled, can’t adjust temperature.
- Rogelim (8/5): Wifi. Wifi. Wifi. - Everything is perfect. My only concern is the wifi connection. Its not that good, that I have to open the door just to have a good connection.
- Verified traveler (8/5): enjoy relax - so good
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was pretty basic. Restaurant wasn’t open and ready on time in the morning though.
- Madjid (6/5): - Still a decent hotel with good amenities: Good Wifi (but it did not work for one entire day), good Cable channels, in-room safe (which functions well). This time my Superior room came windowless so without any natural lights but it was good for sleeping. All in all it is a good budget hotel and good value (for what I paid). Breakfast is buffet and is fine (if you do not expect too much and if you remember this is PH).
- Verified traveler (8/5): PL review - hotel was okay but getting old. Nice place for a short stay
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - We booked in advance a 2 night stay in non smoking FAMILY room but we were assigned at the first night in a smoking family room apparently due to its unavailability..
- Robby (6/5): Nice budget hotel - This hotel is my alternative.
Building is old and some facilities needs an overhaul.
Bath towels are a sorry sight and needs to be replaced pronto.
On the bright side it is walking distance to many restaurants and Robinson, a large shopping mall. Wifi is good on all floors.
Value for money.
- HH (4/5): Smoky Room - When I first walked in room it reaked of cigarette smoke. Room boy sprayed room room but it still smelled. No other room to transfer to since they are fully booked. Room is very small with fridge. Bathroom is small also. The breakfast buffet consisted of rice, meatballs, french toast, and fried egg. The lady cook was using 1 frying pan to cook eggs so had to wait awhile for other guest eggs to be cooked. Won't be staying here again.
- Madjid (8/5): Another good no-issue stay, no complaints. - I have used this well located (in Malate), comfortable hotel several times and for what I pay I always feel I get good value, good nights sleep and never had a single complaint. Front desk usually let me check in early (around noon, when the standard check-in time in 2pm) and please bare with them as they slowly will you check you in (I have to admit that check-in is surprisingly SLOW!). Rooms are fitted with all the amenities: small fridge (minibar), good cable tv (small flat screen tv), in-room safe and window aircon. Bathroom is small but SUPERB (which tends to show that a small bathroom can a zillion times better than a poor big one). Breakfast is Buffet and quite decent (but do not expect more than that). All in all I will not hesitate to book this overall fine hotel again and again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly staff but the first room smelt bad, aircon was too old and probably needed to be replaced. The bigger room on the same floor was in better condition, I was more comfortable.
- Naser (6/5): Budget hotel - Not enjoy room no window,,, small
- Lorie (6/5): Nice and close to anything - I stay there for 3× already,,,and I like it but they need to level up the breakfast
- Nakagawa Lorie (8/5): Nice hotel and convenient, good staff - Only they need more food for breakfast.I stay there for 3 times already...they need to level up the food
- Benjamin (8/5): Great location and Rooftop breakfast - The hotel is located just down the street from a major shopping mall with many restaurants. It's also convenient to get to from the airport (around 200php). The free breakfast buffet located on the top floor is a nice bonus.
- Madjid (8/5): Always a good stay at this decent hotel - Location is good too. Buffet breakfast is limited especially if you arrive towards closing time (better arrive by 8am or 9am at the latest). Staff are always smiling and seem genuinely friendly for the most part but check in was surprisingly slow (thought they did let me check in early).
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overpriced but convinetky located . - Don't stay for the food that was a big disappointment ,ehennin asia i always try to look for a place with breakfast as sometimes local fare can be risky and hate to go hungry. Breakfast was a disappointment, don't bother . Theres a mall a block away with everything. That being said the value for hotel i thought I was getting because breakfast was included was a bust. I wouldn't pay more than $40-50 a night for this place . Wifi didn't work well singnal was weak. Halls smelled of smoke. Rooms we're decent at least and free water provided.
- Dean (6/5): Mediocre - Nothing to tell. Mediocre hotel
- Madjid (8/5): Simple but comfortable with all the essentials - Rather slow check in (plus they ask for a 2000 pesos refundable deposit) but the hotel is clean and quiet and in a good location (for Malate/Manila Bay). The room is comfortable with all the essentials (wifi, cable tv, aircon plus a nice bathroom with excellent water pressure in the shower). Buffet breakfast is simple but adequate. Excellent value (with Orbitz).
- robert (8/5): - Always a very good stay at the Pearl Lane
- CHIA-MING (6/5): Great hotel for my stay in Manila. - Great hotel for my stay in Manila.
- brad (10/5): have always enjoyed my stays a pearl lane - staff are super friendly it feels like my home away from home when I am in manila
- Verified traveler (10/5): Highly competent staff - Hotel is very affordable. The staff is great. Small hotel. Walking distance to the mall and night life.
- Jewel (8/5): Nice hotel with great location. - Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was great!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value for money. Buffet Breakfast - We got a room different from advertised in photos, i.e. there were no windows. Room was a bit dirty, I could see small flocks of hair. But overall, the room was generally decent. At this price range, can't complain much. Plus, breakfast is not plated, but served buffet style at the 5th floor.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Gap is big between the service and facility levels - It's sad with the facilities and airport limousine not available all the time. Because the employees of this hotel were in general very courteous and friendly as well as responsive to my requests, the hotel rooms, floors, windows, and air conditioning were the only problem to make this hotel low rated. Services including the attitudes were much better than much more expensive hotels in Manila.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good overall - my stay overall was good, plus walking distance to the Robinsons mall.I left a hotel early because the prices went up and it wasn't worth it for $56 a night.I didn't mind paying $36 a night because that's what the Hotel is worth a night.
- Irene (8/5): - The staff from security to reception (Ms. Pen) are all friendly and very helpful. Room and air conditioning is fine. No swimming pool though in this hotel but no big deal. I am not satisfied with their buffet breakfast. About 5 minutes walk to Robinsons mall but I don't find it safe to walk at night. Overall, hotel is still a good place to stay.
- Douglas (8/5): Great Location. - I stayed here while I attended School in Manila. The Front Desk Staff were very Helpful and Friendly!!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel Close to USA Embassy & Pasay Bus Terminals - Easy acquisition, check-in, very helpful staff and excellent restaurant..
- hossein (8/5): Location is prefect. - It was fine for price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Satisfactory stay - I was shocked to arrive at the front of the hotel with flood waters (after a brief but heavy downpour prior to my arrival). I was discouraged because it was inconvenient to get out of the car while trying to avoid getting wet. The guard was very helpful in helping me get off the car & getting my luggage safely. Upon entry into the small lobby, I was pleasantly surprise to see a neat & clean place. The staff are very courteous.
The room is not big but is enough for my purpose. The fixture, the wall, the furniture, the decor/curtains & everything in it do not look worn out/dilapidated. Another pleasant & welcome surprise for me is the bidet. Although I've seen it mentioned in their website, I didn't really expect a small hotel like this to have bidet.
It was good thing that the rain stopped because the flood waters subsided fast. Within 30 minutes after checking in, I went down again to go to Robinson's Galleria. The street was almost clear of flood waters.
Location being near Robinson's Galleria is a huge PLUS. The mall has almost everything one needs.
One negative thing for me --- weak wi-fi inside my room.
- FH (4/5): Dirty towel and need to request for aminety - Hotel is not suitable for long stay due to poor facilities and the breakfast is insufficiently serve. Lousy breakfast selections.
- Jerry (6/5): Hotel was fair - The hotel was the equivalent of about a 3 block walk to a huge shopping mall. The immediate area of the hotel was horrible . It was like staying in a slum.
The breakfast awful, IMO.
There was a problem with the dates on my reservation. Since the hotel was problably 20% full and the rates were the the same for everyday of the week, the dates on the reservation, which were not my fault, didn't matter. It took a lot of patience trying to explain this to the "smiling" women at the front desk. who used the word "sir" twice in every sentence. They eventually realized that I was right.
Isn't it wonderful that when you want to speak to the hotel manager, that person is never at the hotel?
- Imanuel (8/5): The staff was courteous/polite, always with smiles - Although the hotel area is small, it is still decent plus it was the hard working staff who serve to satisfy the guests which made the positive difference during our stay. It has Fair pricing too and the hotel's location is accessable to most of Manila's major tourist spots.
- Bryan (8/5): Nice Hotel - This hotel was nice for what I needed. The tv could have been bigger, but everything else was fine.
- Ivan (10/5): Friendy Staff - Great services!... the staff very much friendly and helpful.
However, the area wasn't nice.
- Lee (6/5): I don't know...maybe I'm expecting too much... - Pro's: Pen/Pearl/Eliza/Shane - excellent front desk staff. Price. 1 block from Robinsons Place Manila. Close to a lot of places. Glad that the towels are clean, newer, and smell fresh now. Con's: Located in a questionable part of town. Roads get flooded when it rains. Breakfast menu has been the same thing for years. So has the room service menu. No such thing as senior or executive management around to address guest complaint(s). They hide from guests. Rude restaurant staff who made fun of a tip (which was actually pretty generous for Philippines standards) I left. Executive management didn't even want to say sorry for their employee's behavior. Their F&B Manager offered a small concession for the insult - a pack of 3-in-1 coffee. LOL. Will I stay here again? For the front desk ladies, maybe. For everything else, probably not. The front desk (and security/lobby attendants/housekeeping) is what shines in this rapidly declining hotel. But....it is rated as a 2-star so maybe I'm expecting too much.
- annie (4/5): Did not like the location - Location was not so good near robinsons mall but did not feel safe walking n sidewalk was filthy
Two boys set upon us trying to steal my daughters phone when we attempted to walk to the zoo which was near the hotel
- Lee (6/5): Mixed feelings about the hotel for the price - The hotel is safe with attentive staff, checking up on you and being helpful. The included breakfast is good and in an attractive room. But, the room itself was small and had a little prison window to a shaft that went up to the sky. I feel that the room wasn't up to the cost of this hotel. I moved to another hotel after one night.
- Kristian (10/5): Excellent Hotel - I have stayed at an old five-star hotel in Manila before I checked-in at Pearl Lane, and without hesitation, Pearl Lane has better rooms.
- Lee (8/5): Slipping - The hotel seems to be slipping a little. It's still a good place to stay with reasonable pricing but when the linen starts to look old and tattered, they should quickly address these issues. Sometimes it's hard to get a reservation especially after all the good reviews they get and for frequent guests, such as myself, it gets harder and harder to book a room.
- Vince (8/5): Nice hotel, in quiet location, near Robinson mall - The hotel is near Robinson mall, about a 7 min walk. It is located on the quieter side of Malate, but still feels safe. Free wifi in the rooms. Room is a little bit on the smaller side but still comfortable for 2 people. It is pretty quiet in the area so you won't hear cars and jeepneys honking. Free breakfast buffet also.
- roger (6/5): good location - The hotel was nice, good breakfast buffet, just my child was scared of the hotel, shes only 16 months old, but every time we go in the hall ways she would throw a fit untill we left the hotel or got back in the room, but the hotel as nice, the staff was great
- nike 1 (6/5): A hidden Pearl - Reserved this hotel simply on reviews in Expedia. Normally I don't stay in this class of hotels while in Manila. Quite surprised for what you get for your money. If not on a bif expense account, ver affordable ans fairly safe and comfortable place to spend a night or two. Recommended for all.
- Art (8/5): Will stay here again - Nice staff clean hotel and great breakfast buffet every morning.
- Lee (10/5): Always Consistent - Superb customer service from front desk, housekeeping, and restaurant staff. Neighborhood is not the greatest but it's accepted. Diamond in the rough. A little dated and only real fix would be the air conditioners they have. But I always stay here because it's always consistent with my needs.
- gary (4/5): good location - room is smaller than advertised, hotel is very old and looks it,limited menu from dinning room, safe in room not working, good location near mall, service was friendly.
- Egi (10/5): - Large and comfortable bed, large shower, free wifi in the room. Staff very corteous. Very good location. Literally 2 min walking to Robinson Plaza Mall and minutes away from restaurants, bars and Casino
- Raquel (6/5): Ok Hotel - Ok for budget hotel. The staff were nice. Our room was small and no view.
- Dr Jim (10/5): - This is a very well managed budget hotel, centrally located. The staff were very helpful and efficient at all times. very good value for money.
- Jared C (8/5): Manila Getaway with Pearl Lane - The hotel is good. Very friendly staffs. The room was okay for two persons. The only downfall is the brightness of the room. The lights could be brighter. Overall, it is a comfortable hotel to stay with.
- JAY (10/5): Hotel is walking distance to several churches/mall - You have a most willing office staff -security-bell boy ready to help you with a big smile. ALWAYS!
I invited a guest to the room which I should had never done that because became a huge problem for me.
You can trust the people at the hotel but not the outsiders even though you might think you know them.
I trusted mine via facebook and wanted to give me problems and wanted money. I told the office staff at the end or security but I did not want problems with the locals. The hotel excellent, but the people in the city be very careful. Out of the big city the people are very humble and nice except in the big capital.
The food was very good and cooked to your needs plus is included with your room.
All I can say Excellent hotel and staff. I would like to go back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): fantastic service - the hotel is great, the staff was great, the breakfast was good, I will stay there again
- jack ngo (8/5): just OK for what you paid - i would recomment this hotel to every one,it small but close to everythings you need like shopping money changer, bar,Australian ambassy, night life,
the street is abit smelling but you travel in Asia country you have no choice
just try not to bring too much money when you on the road alone
The breafast was very normal
- Kelvin (10/5): Great Location, value for money - Great location, just 5 minutes walk to Robinson Place. Staff are friendly. Overall value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): nice hotel - the staff there is alsome, there breakfast was real nice, when i go back to manila i would stay there again
- DIANA YANG (10/5): GOOD EXPERIENCE - GOOD FACILITY AND SERVICE. VALUE FOR MONEY. CONVENIENCE LOCATION WITH GOOD RESTAURANTS & SPA WITHIN VICINITY. SERVICE STAFF IS GOOD.
- Napoleon (10/5): Wonderful - It was outstanding for a 3 star hotel.Staff were very nice, friendly & very accomodating.I would highly recommend it to my friends & relatives.
