The room was pleasant The fact they do not have a full swing in-house restaurant for meals and the breakfast was having only 1 protein all through, no variety. The fruit salad though was top notch.

The air conditioning works very well, the bathroom was perfectly adequate, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast is simple but very tasty, freshly prepared on demand. What truly made my stay extraordinary was Aliou, a young receptionist whose attitude and professionalism were on the level of a general manager. He went above and beyond his duties, showing me real life in Bujumbura and sharing insights into the history, political situation, and local customs. Aliou is the spirit of this place—he’s the reason it feels so welcoming and pleasant. Thank you, Aliou, for your incredible hospitality. I will cherish these wonderful memories for a lifetime. Power outages happened during one of the two nights I was there but this is global problem in Burundi, not hotel fault, they are equipped with power generator but due to extreme rain couldn't be used for about an hour or two, but afterwards they managed to launch it and the light came back again.

We were very suspicious that he had installed a camera in the toilet. Afterwards, he canceled our first booking. This was a subsequent booking; he canceled our first booking on Booking.com even though we had arrived and paid the full amount.

- Miro Wawak (10/5): A perfect stay in Bujumbura – African hospitality at its best - I had a wonderful two-night stay at Dolce Vita Resort Hotel in early March. The hospitality here was truly outstanding. A special thank you to Aliou at reception, who was incredibly professional, friendly and helpful. His English is excellent and he really goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. The hotel itself is great: an amazingly soft mattress, fast Starlink WiFi throughout the property, and a beautiful bathroom with a strong hot shower and great water pressure. Breakfast was also very nice with a fresh omelette and fantastic Burundian coffee. The swimming pool is another great bonus. The team even allowed me a very late check-out and kindly helped me print some documents I needed for my trip. All of this in a great location right next to the US Embassy. Truly African hospitality at its best — I would happily stay here again.

Fiz uma reserva para um quarto de luxo duplo ou com duas camas de solteiro. Fomos colocados num quarto de fundos, ao lado de um motor do vizinho que funcionava a noite inteira. Pedimos para trocar para um quarto com duas camas, mas a gerência do hotel informou que teríamos de pagar um valor a mais. O recepcionista tentou evitar a cobrança, mas a gerência foi inflexível. Ora, com o hotel vazio, seria de bom agrado se a gerência nos oferecesse um up-grade de quarto sem custo. Mas eles optaram pela propaganda negativa ao invés da positiva. No primeiro dia pedimos almoço, que é feito em outro local fora do hotel, chegou 3 horas depois e, obviamente, frio. Só comemos pois estávamos com muita fome. O café da manhã, apesar do esforço dos funcionários, é limitado, a la carte e com muito poucas opções. O wi-fi é razoável. A piscina estava mal cuidada e suja. A localização, apesar de estar a uma quadra da embaixada dos EU, está em uma rua em péssimas condições.

- samuel (5/5): decent - breakfast was monotonous. they should benchmark. maybe free selection instead of fixed paper choices. rooms they need to invest in new beddings otherwise next time it will be a seedy joint. electricity and water ... i dont know what to say. they should have a storage for water. water dissappearing when you are showering is not nice ..electricity is a country problem at least they had a generator. as above. location is good. structure is ok. people at least were polite and informative even if their english was wanting. and comparatively they were a decent hotel. i will still book there in the future if i step in burundi again

- Sally (7/5): extremely good value for money and very safe and clean - the hotel is clean and safe and the staff are lovely. Aliou was on the desk when i arrived and still there the next morning. He is also the marketing manager and really trying to make sure everyone has a good stay. He went out of his way to help a guest who was unwell, after he should have finished his shift. I had pizza to eat which was very good, and chose fruit salad for breakfast which was beautifully prepared and delicious. there is no garden altho there is outside space to sit and a small swimming pool.

There was power shortage for few minutes which continued few times last pose shortage took longer when enquirer with the receptionist , he advise that they are waiting for so an electrician to come. I asked him to switch on the generator which he agreed .

May God bless you all The recurrent electricity/ water supply cut-off .. I don't blame the hotel administration.. It's because of poor infrastructure in Burundi (yes they have a generator.. but it can't withstand the frequent shutdown in power )

The room was not clean the blanket wasn't very clean during the breakfast the tissu that was gave to us was not clean as well. the guy from the reception was not friendly. construction ongoing.. and the food was not good.

- Anna (5/5): If possible please avoid this place. - The wifi, hot water and AC worked Totally overpriced. The room didn’t feel clean or well maintained, for example the towel on the floor in the bathroom was used. There was some noisy probably broken machine flapping loudly right outside my room. The reception staff cheated money from me. There was no drinking water provided in the room, which would be a minimum service in a room with this price. On the second evening I had to separately ask to have a clean soap to the bathroom. No shampoo, shower gel or conditioner provided. I was afraid to catch some disease from the bathroom. The tv didn’t work. On the second morning the command I made for an early breakfast was not forwarded to the staff. But big thanks to them for flexibility and cooking the breakfast quickly for me.

In reality location is not very convenient if you need to visit city centre. The room was clean except for a piece of soap in the shower from previous guests. By the way, the shower cabin is already very old, the door did not close well. Towels with permanent stains, such towels can no longer be used in a good hotel. Breakfast is very limited: either an omelette or a fruit plate, no more, for me this was not enough. Once I had a dinner, ordered a "chicken salad", in fact, they brought me a bowl of canned pasta, it was completely tasteless and far from "salad". 2 bottles of water were then counted for a separate fee, only one small bottle of water, which was given at check-in, was not counted. the cost of the transfer from the airport is inappropriately inflated - $50, while all taxis charge exactly $20. Permanent problems with electricity, but it's not only in this hotel.

- Fariani (4/5): - I had a very disappointing stay at this hotel. The staff was unprofessional and unhelpful throughout my visit. There were no taxis available, making transportation a hassle. To make matters worse, the food prices were in dollars, clearly aimed at overcharging guests compared to local rates. The hotel seemed severely understaffed, with only one person responsible for cleaning, which led to delayed and inconsistent housekeeping. There was no water in the fridge, and the TV never worked during my entire stay. Overall, this hotel did not meet even the most basic standards, and I would not recommend it.

- Emmanuel (3/5): The poorest hotel I have stayed abroad - Emmanuel, the staff who welcomed me to the property was quite hospitable. He assisted me with all I needed including calling a cab driver for me the following day I even saw an earth worm inside the toilet system. I had to flush it away before using the toilet. So many mosquitoes in the room, though there was a mosquito net in the room. There were left over tablets of soap in the bathroom. The intercom was very dusty. The breakfast was poor.

The location is bad with no restaurants or even a supermarket nearby. Lots of reviews mention it's a good location because it's near the American Embassy. So what! Power outages and WiFi dropping were frequent. I was offered an airport shuttle for USD50, I took a taxi for less than USD20!

- Jeremy (8/5): 24 HOUR ELECTRICITY WHILST I WAS STAYING THERE - The staff are very friendly and helpful, a very special thank you to Odean and Eraste who helped to make my lack of not being able to speak French not a problem. The whole/most of the team at Dolce Vita was on point. The breakfast was ok and the evening meals are very good,. The location is good for getting taxis into town or wherever you want to go. WiFi pretty good plus 24 hour power/electricity by way a big generator. Got to mention the bad smell coming from the bathroom, but if you keep the door closed it's bearable.

Really made an effort, from the security guard wishing me "good afternoon" and "how are you" or similar every time I went in and out with a charming smile, the help parking the truck, the trainee who was charming and tried very hard, and the lady who seemed to be everywhere (reception, then the roof bar) on my fist stay and told me a story about Giharo in Rutana I didn't know. I thought the pool was going to be too small, but actually it was good, for a long swim swim, clean and fresh and nice and deep at one end. Great food and the lovely chef came out to check it was all ok as well. The rooms are nice and the place has a feel of decadent old world charm. Liked the towel arrangement on the bed! A chair for the work table would be handy, didn't have one in my second stay. Coffee and or tea to go with the kettle, cups and sugar would be nice for a morning coffee (or tea). Picking small holes in a really nice room and stay though.

There was some confusion about our room, I ALWAYS ask for a room on second ( or higher) floor and a double bed, but that problem was solved very quickly.

The place was in the centre of everything it was so easy to get to point A and B easily.

The room had been set up for one even if the booking specified we would be two. The staff were however very quick to bring us the extra utilities, so we were happy about that. Tips: Please make sure you confirm that the airport pick up is free & if you would like your room made up, please mention it at the reception

Don't book it. - Although the booking had been confirmed, when we arrived at the hotel we were not let in, the receptionist came to the gate and informed us that they have no rooms avilable and that they were trying to communicate the problem to hotels.com, we were not provided with any alternative and had to arrange an alternative accommodation ourselves. Although we were not allowed to check in the hotel charged us in full and communicated to hotels.com that we were provided with an alternative rooms on the expense of the hotel, which is simply a lie.
- BLK20142014 (10/5): Excellent hotel in Bujumbura - The hotel is located in a silent residential area. The staff is very polite and helpful. Food, both breakfast, lunch and dinner is very good, with is a clear touch of the French cuisine. Rooms are big, and contains everything needed: Aircon when needed, television, large beds, desk, and the internet connection is fast according to general Burundian conditions. It is value for for money, and highly recommendable.
