Guest Reviews
- Darren (8/5): Isle of White stay - Friendly and helpfull proprietor. Lovely breakfast and comfortable bed 🛌
- David (4/5): Glory days are gone. Work needed to get them back - This is a difficult review to post. My wife asked me why I chose The Fawley and I couldn't honestly remember so I went to the Hotels.com website. That explained all as the hotel had a 9.6 Fabulous rating. However, the reviews were at least 12 month old and one of the more recent ones had a 'terrible' rating. The pictures on the website are deceiving about the current state of the place. It has become run down and not cared for very well. Cleanliness would have to be called in to question particularly in the bathroom. There was rust all over the loo brush and the shower cubicle needs mould removing and silicone replacing. I did inform the landlord about a leak when the toilet was flushed. The bed headboard had a covering on it which fell off to reveal a less than impressive sight.
The side entrance for guests is tatty and needs smartening up somewhat. The people tried hard and were friendly enough but this place looks to be living off past glories. I do have photos if the owners wish to see them to help improve their business. We wouldn't plan to stay again.
- David (10/5): - The property was well kept and very clean. It was in a very good location. The staff, Roger, Melissa and Zak were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean, tidy and had on suite. Would book again if in Isle of Wight
- Deborah (10/5): Lovely Family Guesthouse. Clean, comfy, welcoming. - This is a family Guest house and we were welcomed and treated as well as any family could be.
Zac checked us in and carried all our bags up to our room, Dad cooks the best breakfast ever, Grandad in the lounge was happy and friendly, and Melissa was kind and helpful arranging everything we needed.
The room was spotless, beds comfy and we had fun playing some of the games on offer and used the breakfast area for takeaways.
If you want a stress free stay where nothing was too much trouble, and if there is an issue, its resolved within minutes.... This is the place!
Thank you to Melissa and all her family for making us feel so welcome. We look forward to visiting you again some time.
- David (8/5): - The hotel is very well placed for access to the beach and amenities Family run and we were made very welcome with wide choice of breakfast The room was modern and well appointed The only down size was that it was up 2 flights of stairs and we are elderly so should have checked this out first Overall we would recommend this place
- Leanne (10/5): - Debbie & Mark have gone the extra mile to make The Fawley COVID safe while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our room (6) was spacious, tastefully decorated and well maintained. We had a large on suite shower room and tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was served in the dining area which had been carefully set up to allow social distancing.
Mark was a fun host and between him and Debbie go out of their way to make guests welcome.
- Carol (10/5): - Hosts couldn’t do enough lovely place excellent holiday
- Teresa (10/5): The Fawley July 2021 - Another wonderful stay at the Fawley, thank you Debbie, Mark & Anna. We stayed in the family room which was truly adored by our granddaughter, who loved the bunk beds, the poppy picture and her own tv xx
- Morter (10/5): Short break - 2nd visit to The Fawley. Lovely people who are coping very well with covid restrictions and we all felt at ease. Rooms comfortable, maybe need little attention but nothing drastic just renewing. Lovely bed linen and towels. Clean and fresh.
Breakfast excellent. So much choice and happy to cater for gluten free .
Hotel was quiet of an evening and we were able to come and go as we pleased as you are given a door key .
Check in and check out all went smoothly.
Will be back

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owners were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. There was a pleasant atmosphere. Well placed for station, beach and town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location. clean, Its a family run business. Owner Debbie is wonderful lady.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The bed and pillows were a bit hard. Everything else was lovely. The breakfasts were full of variety.
- jacqueline (10/5): The Fawley - The Fawley is a family run business, Debbie, Mark and Anna work hard to make your stay as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Most helpful and welcoming. The breakfast is cooked fresh and they have a varied menu with specials every day. The room was fresh, with clean linen and towels on request. Having a key to the hotel as well as your room made it easy to come and go when necessary, the owners are available 24 hours a day as well as one who lives on site which is convenient for the guests.
The hotel is close to the high street although the main road was closed making access difficult if you're unsure of the area, Sat Nav found an easy route each time. Being close to the seafront and resort activities is an easy walk and local amenities are a short walk away. There are plenty of restaurants within a 10 minute walk with a wide range of food available.
Thank you for making us feel welcome, we would have stayed with family during our stay but have been out of contact for a while. Having the Fawley made the visit most enjoyable as a safe haven to stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very well set up, neat and clean and breakfast was beyond expectations. Owners went beyond the normal standard of service.
- Niall (6/5): Location good - Stay good hotel breakfast good however no heating on in bathroom and shower water not hot enough
- Mr Jonathan (10/5): A little Jem - Fantastic freindly family run establishment nothing was too much trouble...the breakfast was brilliant freshly cooked and plentiful will be back
- Andrew (8/5): - Good location, minutes away from the beech. Friendly owners and excellent breakfast in the morning. Choice of pancakes, full English and American style.
- david (10/5): simmo 20/10 - made very welcome on arrival - owners very accommodating - even remebered a birthday card for my wife.
Excellent breakfast and good location.
- Mike (10/5): Good guest house - Friendly guest house, clean, comfortable. Owners were very cheerful and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel, excellent breakfast - Really good location, nice room and excellent breakfast options.
Would stay there again.
- Anna (10/5): Lovely hotel - We had a lovely time on the Isle of Wright it made it even better with the stay at the B+B we were made very welcome. I would definitely recommend it. It was right near the beach too x
- Priyesh (8/5): Good - Nice and clean room. Close to beach and nice selection of breakfast. Will defiantly prefer for next trip.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a terrific find.
We were made to feel very welcome right from the start by the very experienced owners who anticipated all our requirements and queries in a good-humored way.
Room comfortable.
Bed comfortable.
Breakfast terrific.
- Maria (10/5): Nice place in walking distance of beach - Very welcoming and friendly, a good night's sleep, excellent breakfast .
- B (8/5): Good b&b - Overall very good. Only slightly let down by cleanliness/servicing aspects eg only a third of a roll of toilet paper and no spare.... minor in the scheme of things.
Great breakfast choice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel in a good location - Great family run guesthouse with a great breakfast
- madalina (10/5): Brilliant B&B - Beautiful breakfast. Extremely clean room. Super nice and dedicated owners. Top notch!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great guest house - Thanks very much - a great stay, clean spacious rooms, a friendly welcome and a good hearty breakfast.
- Keith (10/5): Could not wish for a better place. - We were on the top floor so a bit of a plod up the stairs. Will help keep you fit. Room spotlessly clean. Good facilities in room and Wi-Fi good but noticeably slower than at home. Breakfast has excellent choice and is well cooked and well presented. Staff friendly and helpful. Could not wish for a better place.
- helen (10/5): Very pleasant place to atay - Friendly staff text on day of arrival to arrange check in - greeted with lovely staff on arrival . Room/ bathroom fine no problems. Breakfast has great choice. Overall a lovely place to stay would recommend to anyone. Ideally situation close to beach and bars and would stay here again definitely
Thank you :)
- C (10/5): - I don't usually review online, but the service at the Fawley was exceptional and the breakfast was superb. The best famiy location we have stayed at on the Isle of Wight.
- Peter (8/5): Recommended - Debbie and her family were great hosts.
- Verified traveler (10/5): very nice guesthouse close to the beach - We booked a triple room and stayed for two nights. The room is actually like a suite as it has a small kitchen in it. The facilities are quite new and the room is spotless clean and quite spacious. The guesthouse is conveniently located near the beach which is only 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast offered every morning is quite tasty and varied. We enjoyed the stay very much and would like to recommend this value for money guesthouse to anyone who is planning for a beach holiday.
- Mukesh (10/5): Perfect Location in Shanklin - We have stayed at this hotel for two nights . It is well maintained and very clean. One of the best locations in Shanklin to stay . Very near to the beach. Hotel Owner and staffs are really helpful.
Would love to visit again.
- Janet (8/5): The disabled disability room - Very friendly clean breakfast lovely and good assortment of food. Room was a disappointment as we are disabled and were told on booking we were on the ground floor but they have no rooms on the ground floor so had a job with the stairs, the steps into the ensuite were steep and there were no hand rails in there or in the shower but when told Mark put one by the steps straight away. My son aged 57 could not manage the shower so I had to leave the door ajar and shower him myself. Other than this all was fine. The people with me from Australia had a very small room they were told on the second day they could go up to the next floor but couldn't face repacking the room next to theirs would have been ideal. These room were booked back in October They have friends who seek their advice when coming to G.B but will not recommend Fawley Hotel to them which is a shame.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice comfortable hotel - A very easy and comfortable stay, perfect for exploring Shanklin and when arriving on the Island Line.
- Douglas (10/5): Picturesque - We had a great time, the owners where friendly and helpful with a very good breakfast menu. The guesthouse was situated in a quiet area with easy access to the hole island
- Nella (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. Great B&B in good location. Our daughter loved her separate room with her own TV. Very safe and comfortable. Thanks!
- Oliver (10/5): Fantastic hotel - We were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Fawley. The family that run it were extremely welcoming. It's obvious they take pride in running their business to a very high standard and this is reflected all over the hotel from small details to the more obvious things too. We only stayed one night but we'd definitely come back and I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay. I stayed in more expensive places in the past that pale in comparison to the Fawley.
- Tristan (10/5): Great B&B - Lovely stay at a fantastic B&B. Staff really helpful and friendly. Room was great, cozy and really impressed with the quality. Would definitely recommend as it's clear how seriously the owners take the business, and how much pride they take in it. Really nice breakfast too!
- Andrew (10/5): Excellent Hotel Couldn't wish for better. - Used the hotel for the first time as I was on business on the island. Hotel staff were friendly and could not do enough for me. The hotel itself is kept to a high standard, the room was clean, comfortable with modern décor. Business facilities such a internet were good to very good offering good connection speeds in my room without dropping out all the time which happens at the Premier Inn unless you purchase the ultimate WiFi package. The hotel is situated within walking distance to Restaurants providing both English and Chinese cuisine. Breakfast was excellent freshly prepared with plenty of toast tea and coffees as you required. All said with the cost of the stay its nothing more than excellent value for money whether you go for work or pleasure. I will be returning with my family next time I travel to the island.
- Neil (10/5): Great winter break - Perfect location! Shanklin in the winter is lovely, whilst most things are closed, even the China it was tranquil. The Fawley is a lovely little B&B, you are made very welcome & the cracking breaky sets you up great for a day of exploring the island.
- phillip (6/5): close to the crazy golf - I wish they wouldn't keep turning the central heating off
- Travelling Bob (10/5): Beer on the Buses - Handy for the Railway station to join the vintage buses for the weekend
- Angela (10/5): Enjoyable short break at The Fawley - We enjoyed a lovely short break at The Fawley. The owners Debbie and Mark and their daughter Anna were welcoming and helpful. Our room and en suite was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Excellent breakfast.
- sisters (8/5): Sisters mini break - The Fawley is a very nice bed and breakfast run by very friendly people we arrived early but didn't seem a problem to Debbie whom was more than happy for us to drop off our suit cases so we didn't have to drag them to the beach which is only a ten minute walk . We really enjoyed our stay there the breakfast was excellent such a good choice , my sister has been to numerous bed and breakfast and rates the Fawley as one of the best breakfast she's ever had .
- YUK LING (10/5): Good - The Fawley is within easy walking distance from Shanklin Train/bus Station. Good base for touring around Isle of Wight. Great breakfast and friendly host.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great service and staff. - Unfortunately incident with ano unseen pillar and our car. Everything else well done, great breakfasts
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect place to stay! - 2 night stay, 10 minute walk into town, nice restaurants nearby, close to sea good breakfast!
- Guest (6/5): Very small rooms - The hotel room we stayed in is very small, it's really a sigle room with double bed, No. 5. The furnitures had an old smell.
Breakfast is fantastic! Plenty of choices. And the staff is very nice.
- Scottthebuyer (10/5): short notice break to IOW - We booked at short notice and got the family room which is sort of connecting rooms (with a tv in each) ..kiddos loved that ....and allowed us time to sort out day trip clothing and stuff.
The room is 2nd floor so not ideal for little children or heavy bags but is appointed to a very high and tasteful standard with an excellent bathroom.
The hosts were very accommodating of our "extra" little person and are excellent hosts and breakfasts were just perfect for us and our children.
i wold definitely recommend the Fawley and would consider using again if we find ourselves heading that way
Scott
- martin (10/5): Excellent friendly family hotel - A friendly greeting, and a very well equipped room, with a modern bathroom and kitchen area also. In addition to the room there was parking. But the outstanding attraction to both the boys and myself was the choice and quality of the breakfast. We will definitely return, although I think I will need to plan further ahead Year on year.
- Neil (10/5): Lovely Comfortable Hotel - A lovely comfortable clean hotel with a very good choice of breakfast items. Rooms are of a good size and are decorated well. Bathroom wa clean and sufficient for the stay. Owners and staff very welcoming and friendly. Pleasure to stay here for a few nights.
- Jane (10/5): Excellent B and B in Shanklin - We enjoyed a short break at this excellent guesthouse. The rooms were spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated and there was a plentiful supply of tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc. The breakfasts were amazing with a range of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries and home-made muesli as well as a good selection of hot dishes which were cooked to order. We found it to be excellent value for money and within a short distance of the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent breakfast - Spent three nights here. Lovely room and had a different breakfast each morning - no complaints at all.
- Foxy (10/5): Very comfortable hotel - We recently stayed at The Fawley for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding. We were made to feel extremely welcome from the minute we checked in to the minute we left. Our room was exceptionally clean and well equipped: lovely fluffy white towels, plentiful supply of hot water, very comfortable mattress, tea & coffee making facilities and nice toiletries. The breakfast choice was simply amazing! To be able to have a full vegetarian breakfast in a small hotel like this is something that many big hotels should take notice of. The family & staff running The Fawley are lovely, friendly & very professional. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to staying here again on our next trip to the Isle of Wight. Thank you for such a lovely 2 day break.
- kathy (10/5):
friendly, modern and good location - clean and comfortable with nice décor.Good supply of teas, coffee and milk in room, and complementary cookies!Quiet location, not far from the beach. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent[especially the home-made muesli]
- Rich (10/5): Very enjoyable stay with very accommodating hosts - I stayed at the Fawley with my wife and 7-month-old child and overall we really enjoyed our stay. We were greeted with a smile and the hosts (Debbie and Mark) were friendly and very accommodating of the fact we had a 7-month-old baby with us - they provided a travel cot, fridge for baby food and microwave for baby food and bottle sterilisation without any hassle at all. They certainly went the extra mile to ensure we were comfortable. The rooms were very clean and beds were comfy too. The breakfasts were great too (award winning apparently...and I've never seen sausages in a sausage sandwich cut so well and fit the shape of the bread perfectly :) ) The location of the B&B itself was good too, with just a couple of minutes walk to Shanklin beach.
It would certainly be our first choice of place to stay next time we travel to the Isle of Wight.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
Only criticism was it was to hot in the room, could not turn radiator down or off
- walker (8/5): Good hotel near beach - Arrived early and shown straight to room. Room small but OK. Great breakfast. Just off coastal path
