Guest Reviews
- Laurence (10/5): - L'amabilité et l'accueil des propriétaires.
Le confort de la literie.
Le petit-déjeuner varié délicieux, les produits frais de qualité.
Excellente adresse.
- Till Breuer (freiberuflicher (10/5): Beautiful place and very welcoming atmosphere. - Very nice staff, familiar atmosphere and a very pretty garden. Patricia even made us some sandwiches for our hike. The garden room is very cosy and the bed very comfortable.
- Steve (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Welcoming and a great home base. - Patricia and John were marvellous hosts. Daily breakfast was wonderful.
- VANESSA (9/5): - Excellent petit déjeuner. Beaucoup de choix et fait maison
- David (10/5): Great location, very comfortable and highly recommended. - Great location on the edge of the Mourne Mountains and very close to Tollymore Forest Park. The property was very comfortable and the owner very friendly and welcoming, we had a great stay. Nothing
- David (10/5): - Everything All was excellent
- DAVID (10/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): - Good host, nice breakfast, excellent view, and friendly dogs!
- brenda (10/5): Absolute perfection - Beautiful property. Spotlessly clean. Super comfortable.
- Cathy (10/5): - The accommodation was excellent. The view from the bedroom was exceptional, even when it rained. Homemade marmalade and bakes soo good. Such a relaxing place to stay!
- Jurate (10/5): - The hosts are very warm and attentive people, their house is cozy, the surroundings are very beautiful. The breakfast prepared by the hostess is simply perfect, be sure to try their granola :)
Everything in the room is thought out to the smallest detail that a guest may need, there was even cake, coffee, milk and tea.
From the house you can start hiking in the mountains without a car, everything is so close.
- Petula (10/5): Very beautiful location, friendly hosts, warm comfortable accommodation. - We stayed in the Loft, so we were self catering. We misunderstood the booking details and thought breakfast was included. Patricia explained that as we were self catering breakfast wasn’t included. However, she kindly did breakfast for us on a couple of occasions which we thoroughly enjoyed.
- Sharon (8/5): Good location to play several golf courses. - Excellent fruit/yogurt bowl. Good coffee and home baked bread. Local eggs. All was good or excellent.
- tabiimorris (8/5): -
- Donna (10/5): Homely, friendly luxury in the Mournes - Amazing location, lovely home, delicious breakfast and very welcoming host. Only niggle I had was that the light pull in the bathroom was out of my 5 foot reach!
- Aidan (10/5): The most welcoming and friendly host ever. Stunning location. - Patricia and her family are incredibly welcoming and friendly and helpful. The view from the Garden Bedroom (B&B option but self catering also available) is the best I have seen of the mountainside at Newcastle Co Down. The house and gardens are stunning and the breakfasts are made with local produce and very generous. No lunch needed later in the day! There was nothing to dislike.
- Enda (10/5): I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. - The property was spotless, everything worked perfectly, the location was great, and the views of the mountains were spectacular. About £6 for a taxi into town. The hosts were very kind and thoughtful enough to have a small treat left for us on arrival and freshly baked bread in the morning, both of which were absolutely delicious.
- Tom (10/5): An exceptional stay at the foothills of the Mourne mountains. A true gem in in all aspects! - My entire experience at Cherryhill Lodge was exceptional. The location suited me well, situated just outside of the town of Newcastle, set against the Mourne mountains. The lodge was well kept up, clean, spacious and inviting. My room, which faced the drive, was well laid out with a large comfortable bed, sitting nook, closet space and well appointed ensuite. Coffee, tea and cake were available in the room. The breakfast was exceptional with a number of cold and hot options along with homemade scones, jams and breads. Communication with the lodge owner was flawless, and I very much appreciated the helpful recommendations for dinner and local attractions. Truely, there wasn't anything to fault.
- Alexander (10/5): - Excellent breakfast, very nice owners
- Rachel (10/5): - The room was cosy and warm with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was amazing. Iv never stayed in such a lovely place with available views of the Mourne mountains
- Elisa (10/5): Traumhaft!
- Kavanagh (10/5): Comfortable, relaxing and welcoming - a real joy to experience. - This was my third weekend stay at Cherryhill Lodge and it did not disappoint. As before, it was comfortable and relaxed and Patrica and John were as welcoming as I have come to expect and appreciate. The Lodge itself is just perfect and the rooms are restful and well stocked with tea/coffee facilities. Homemade lemon drizzle cake adds a thoughtful air of luxury! Breakfast remains a particular highlight of choice and quality (and quantity!) and is beautifully presented with wonderful views to aid digestion. I have lots of health issues but my stays provide a lift to the spirit that makes such a difference to me. I look forward to returning in the next couple of months. For me, everything was perfect!
- Thomas (10/5): -

- Avril (10/5): The hosts, Patricia and John are so accommodating, welcoming and helpful - - Great choices and delicious
- DJ (9/5): - Nice holiday home nice view, spacious, good balcony. -
- Anna (9/5): Lovely Loft - Lovely quiet loft over a garage. Technically a studio, but very large with a dinning table, seating area, kitchen area with Fridge, Freezer, oven Microwave, toaster and kettle. Very comfy sofa and bed. There was a little one bed room off to the side and shower room with an electric shower. Lovely secluded outside seating area with a table and 4 chairs and 2 loungers with a parasol. The balcony area was fenced in and had a gate at the top of the stairs. It had the sun in parts for most of the day, if you moved the chairs about. Check in and out very easy.
10min drive into town, but it is walkable. Large carpark for hiking in the mountains. Note: it does fill up quickly. We were there at 9 on a Saturday and the over-flow carpark was already in use. When we were leaving at about 2pm it was full. I can't think of anything.
- Adam (10/5): - Beautiful spacious home with amazing hospitality. 100% recommended. Patricia is a wonderful host & Daisy, the family dog is so cute. Delightful homemade cakes prepared for afternoon tea - scrumptious.
- Harriet (10/5): A wonderful stay! - We had a wonderful stay - the hosts couldn’t have been any kinder or welcoming. The rooms were so comfortable and the view from the garden room was beautiful! The breakfast every morning was amazing and so great we could pick what we wanted. We wish we could have stayed longer and will miss the breakfast terribly!
- Siegfried (10/5): Ruhige Lage , Blick auf die Berge, Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und achten die Privatsphäre. -
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Loved the view from the Garden room. Great breakfast. Lovely friendly hosts.
- Brian (10/5): Perfect place to stay. - We were made to feel very welcome and treated as special throughout. There was a fridge with fresh milk to use with the tea/coffee making facilities. Beautiful views. Lovely garden. Very good room with comfy bed. Excellent choice for breakfast, including home-made bread, scones, and jam. cooked to order. Good parking. Very good location for touring the area and short drive into town with free car parking. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was excellent, with a wode variety of choices available to cater for different dietary requirements.
- Catherine (10/5): A really relaxing stay in stunning scenery - We love everything about Cherryhill Lodge. We have stayed many times in this property and always feel relaxed and at home from the moment we arrive. The owners go out of their way to make your stay very special. It is such a beautiful location with a stunning garden to enjoy in the breakfast room. The owner makes her own delicious granola, bread and cake. What a treat. We cannot recommend it highly enough 😊 We just always hate having to go home 🥲
- William (10/5): Absolutely beautiful - Absolutely beautiful location with the most gracious hosts. Close to all the attractions but peacefully tucked away. The view of the mountains and the garden is exceptional
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - Room was nicely decorated, spacious with plenty of storage for clothing. Nice bathroom with a great overhead rain shower. Big, comfy bed. - Derek (10/5): I would love to find an excuse to return. - Excellent breakfast, fried bread available! View from breakfast room. Surprise chocky cakes! Relying on public transport to get around, Pat provided several car trips into town and bus station, including picking me up when walking back to Lodge. Complete satisfaction!
- andy (8/5): - Really lovely house with very friendly hosts and a superb breakfast. Our only negative is that it is about half an hour to walk into town - there is nothing closer.
- Fiona (9/5): Wonderful Irish hospitality in a peaceful setting - Very high quality accommodation. Front Room was spacious and comfortable, with a very comfy king bed. Lovely rainfall shower with good quality toiletries. Milk and water were available from a mini fridge in the sun room. Peaceful location, which would be a great starting point for walkers, as several of the Mournes walking routes are signposted from just outside the property. Breakfast was excellent, with various options all freshly cooked, along with home-made bread and preserves.
Hosts Pauline and John were very welcoming and hospitable. Patricia very kindly dropped me to the bus station on departure, as I did not travel by car. Had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Not a criticism but just to note that the property is about a 30 minute walk from the town centre, so it is really best suited to those travelling by car. The walk into town along a quiet country lane starting opposite Cherryhill Lodge was lovely, but the distance meant that it wasn't convenient to pop back and forth during the day on foot. However, taxis are easily available in the town - make sure you note down taxi firm numbers as you will need to call them.
- Rosanna (10/5): Amazing stay, John, Patricia and Daisy are amazing hosts. Highly recommend! - I absolutely loved my stay at the Cherryhill Lodge. John, Patricia and Daisy were amazing hosts, they were super friendly and provided an all around superb experience. The house has a beautiful garden and stunning views. - Jackie (10/5): It was just the most perfect start to our little trip to Ireland !! This is truly a wonderful place to stay and Patricia - Everything !! As soon as we pulled up we knew we’d found something special ! The lodge is stunning , the room was just lovely with great finishing touches ( tea/coffee making and fresh milk /water and little homemade cake ) .bathroom is spotless with everything you need . Plenty of space for clothes etc . The most amazing views from this property !! Looking over the Mourne mountains just tops off the experience.
Breakfast consists of anything you could wish for, made fresh ,Patricia makes everything so lovely !! We was made so welcome by Patricia and John , they couldn’t do enough for us . We will definitely return on our next trip to Ireland.
