- Gillian (10/5): - Loved the quaint hotel. It was comfortable and quiet so easy to sleep. Lots of choices for dinner. Breakfast was freshly good and lovely. Wish we could stay longer.
- Derek (10/5): A lovely, quirky place to stay. - What a great, quirky find. So comfortable, I slept so well. I’m just sorry it was a working trip and therefore not able to appreciate my stay more. Tim is a terrific host too.
- Neil (8/5): - Had a great stay in the Magistrates room. Comfortable bed, clean fresh linen. Breakfast was great with award winning bread.

- Neil (8/5): Good stay - Had a couple days stay whilst visiting steam train and car museum . Great comms , well checked in , parking , room good with nice clean comfy bed . En suite bit small and TV is ok , could do with changing 👍 breakfast good , coffee really good .
- Anne (10/5): A comfortable and interesting place to stay. - The Old Lock Up was clean, warm, and welcoming. I stayed for 3 nights in the Solicitor's room, which I found pleasant and characterful, with a comfortable bed and a good sized ensuite. It was very quiet with really thick walls. The breakfast was great and beautifully cooked. The property is well situated a short walk from the centre of Wirksworth. I managed it easily even with a sprained ankle. I had a very pleasant stay.
- Alastair (10/5): - Our stay in the magistrate’s room was great, the room was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a treat and the location is good. Will be back.
- Steve (10/5): Best Lock-up I've been in! - A wonderfully original place to stay. Lovely rooms, and excellent breakfast. A warm welcome awaits you here - I'll definitely be back!
- Sara (10/5): Quirky, wonderful B&B - Had a lovely 2 nights, mid-week at the Old Lockup. Very characterful and full of memorabilia from when it was a police station. Stayed in The Magistrates room on the first floor, very warmly decorated and furnished with a small en-suite. With Tea,Coffee and even a small fridge with complimentary bottle of milk and water. Breakfast provided, from a full English to pancakes. Owner really nice, and accommodating - nothing would've been too much trouble. Free small carpark onsite, with a large free parking area across the road Given your own keys to come and go even you wish, the local are Wirksworth was lovely. Had a tapas and quiz night in the Hope n Anchor which was very relaxed and a good laugh. St Marys church is beautifully adornedvl with saxon carvings and definitely shouldn't be missed. Overall could not fault it, and looking forward to visiting again xx

- Verified traveler (8/5): Weddings in Wirksworth - Quirky and interesting with a great host and excellent breakfast.
Bed was too soft for my liking

Wirksworth is a delightful town with lots of history and beautiful surrounding scenery.
- Linda f (10/5): Great stay - Great place to stay, nice sized room and great breakfast. Friendly host who could give local tips. The police ephemera throughout was a lovely touch.
- Pat (8/5): - It was very convenient to the centre of Wirksworth. It was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Bathroon needed updating.
- Charles (10/5): - The Old Lock up was conveniently located in the town.Tim was a welcoming host. the rooms were comfy and clean and the breakfast perfect. We will visit again and would recommend to others

- Carol (10/5): Great place the Lockup - Our stay at the lockup was great Tim was a great host and the breakfast was A1 the room was very comfortable and warm and cosy. If we are in the vicinity again I would certainly stay again.
First class had a great time even the weather didn't spoil it.
- Les (10/5): Great stay at character guesthouse - Really interesting place. Lovely and warm on a cold couple of days. Good location with pubs and shop within easy walking distance. Good breakfast. Good value for money. Would recommend.
- Johnathan (10/5): - Love how the history of building is still around and left on display and whole town is peaceful and historic. Have plenty of walks near by and good range of shops and restaurants in walking distance
- Jamie (10/5): - 10/10 would recommend. I’d like to stay there again someday. Everything you need is provided. The owner is responsible and good people. Very satisfied.
- Roy (10/5): - We had the Magistrates room which was lovely,we had visited a few weeks earlier to have a chat with Tim the owner and have look around the town because we had a trip booked on the heritage railway closeby for my birthday. We had arranged with Tim for him to cook us a meal. The room had 2 slight faults one being the tv had very limited channels and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up but overall we had a great stay.
- Julie (8/5): - We stayed in the Magistrate's Room, which was a good size, with a comfy bed. Lovely and warm too. Tea, coffee and milk provided. En suite was not up to my expectations. Louvre door to toilet, so no privacy. Electric shower didnt have much gusto. Toilet seat didn't stay up. Very small room. Needs a redecorate too. Decent breakfast, but not exciting. Host very accommodating and provided a takeaway breakfast roll for one of our mornings.
- Mr Glyn Denson (10/5): Weekend break to Wirksworth, Derbyshire. - Lovely, very clean accommodation throughout, with an old traditional feel about it. Choice and quality of breakfast excellent and cooked & served at a time of your choosing. Tim was a friendly and hospitable host. Also a great location for the town, heritage railway and surrounding area.
- Elisa (10/5): - Great host, attentive and helpful. Gave us good recommendations on where to start our walk on the High Peak Trail and where to dine without taking the car.
Good room, well appointed with everything one needs plus some little touches like fresh milk and water in the fridge. I travel a lot and there are plenty 4 star properties that don't even give you a bag of tea. Recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent all round
- Eileen (10/5): - We had three nights D, B&B here and were pleased we did. The Old Lock Up is very comfortable and clean and the owner is a good cook and also very friendly. As a result we had excellent evening meals. There is time limited street parking outside although unrestricted parking is allowed between 16.20 and 09.40. Wirksworth is an ideal centre for seeing the southern parts of the Peak District National Park and for visiting the nearby World Heritage Site at Cromford.
- Alan (10/5): - Cosy quirky and spotless. Charming host Tim. Beautiful breakfast and
well presented
- Susan (10/5): Peaceful stay - We had a very peaceful stay host was welcoming, our 2 dogs had enough space in the room. We had a fabulous breakfast served by Tim. We choose the Hayloft room this time but would live to stay again and try other room as they are different. Great breakfast times didnt have to get up really early. Lots of history information on our room about the hotel as it was an old police station.
- paul (10/5): - Had a lovely 2 night stay at the Old Lockup. The Magistrates room was lovely with plenty of teabags and milk in a little mini fridge. The breakfasts were fantastic and the homemade bread was delicious.Ideal location for exploring the town and handy for Black Rock and Star Disk walks.
- Helen (10/5): A welcome opportunity to escape the rat race. - We loved our stay. Tim was very accommodating enabling us to stay despite the post christmas covid challenges. Wr loved the village, very quiet, good places to eat and very welcoming. Beautiful countryside within walking distance. Will definitely return.
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely stay, warm welcome, enjoyed the area.
- David (8/5): - Thr proprietor was helpful. The room, The Solicitors Room, was spacious with two comfy armchairs. The bed was splendid. The bathroom has a over bath shower. The breakfasts were excellent. I enjoyed my stay.
- Patricia (10/5): - Loved our stay at The Old Lock up.
Would like yo go back sometime.
- Suzanne (10/5): The Old Lock up - Stayed in the coach House. Lovely room, very spacious and clean. Everything that you need.
- Martin (10/5): Lovely Get Away - My girlfriend and I stayed for a few days between the 30th of July - 2nd of August and we really enjoyed our stay, Tim was very accomodating and friendly throughout our visit and his breakfasts were simply brilliant. I would definitley recommend The Old Lockup to anyone looking for a nice quiet get away. The only dissapointment was that it seem to pass us by too quickly as I would have quite happily stayed the whole week. Also next time we can take our dog with us as it is pet friendly :)
Martin & Zoe.
- Sarah (8/5): Old lock up stay - Very clean b&b, could do with updating decoration. Bed was comfy, en-suite was clean. Very nice breakfast and attentive.
- E Mullen (8/5): Great location and host - A quirky place to stay although the effect of Covid restricted some aspects that I expected, mainly sitting area both in and outside which whilst didn’t ruin the stay it’s fair to say it marred it. Comfortable bed and a very good shower were provided I would like to see a decent size TV if I returned. Tim the owner is very attentive and available his breakfast was incredible, we stayed 3 nights and 3 breakfasts were extremely delicious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property is full of character. We stayed in the Magistrates Room and loved it. Breakfast was amazing. Proprietor, Tim, was very friendly and also knowledgeable re the local area and very picturesque walks. Will definitely be visiting again and possibly stay in the Solicitors Room next time. Definitely recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place! - The Old Lock Up was a real gem! The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was delicious and Tim was a great host. We would love to come back!
- Harriet (8/5): great place, only two things need attention. - The Old Lockup is a unique place to stay, alot of effort has been done to keep it authentic to Its history. An enjoyable place, Tim was a friendly host! We were in the Magistrates Room which was great (lovely brickwork), however the only thing we would say is the Mattress needs replacing (I still have a bad neck and back unfortunately from it) as the springs were close to the surface, and the bathroom door needs replacing! We appreciated Tim wanted to keep the bathroom door looking authentic to match the room but the lack of privacy for if you were wanting to visit the toilet was.....awkward! Breakfast was good too, and Tim was accommodating with our doggie Minnie-thankyou!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Characterful place with charm and great breakfast - This was our first post-lockdown stay in a B&B and it was really very good. Very well managed and the sensible precautions didn't detract from the quality of the place or from the quirky atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice.
Wirksworth is a great little town, not over-touristy and we enjoyed staying there, plenty of decent places to eat and drink.
- Alan (10/5): - Really enjoyed stay superb place and service. Will definitely be going back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The quirkinesses of the Victorian police station and the excellent hosting by the proprietor. The evening meal was fantastic.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Highly recommend, wonderful host and fantastic place to stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really nice rooms nice atmosphere really homely and really good made you Felt welcome
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was located in an old police lockup. Our room had an old grill outside and the bathroom was a converted cell.
Tim the host was very friendly and helpful. He helped with luggage whilst he provided refreshments for us to relax on arrival.
We ate dinner at the property- fantastic meal....better than some exclusive restaurants!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Excellent host, very helpful and a warm welcome.
Bathroom a bit dated by today’s standards but adequate. Other facilities were good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Interesting and welcoming property.
Very comfortable with very pleasant owner.
Breakfasts superb
Minor criticism is that shower not very good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very old police station ,it is very quirk a lovely place to stay, only one problem is parking, free car park over the road if you can get in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly and helpful host. Interesting building. Good and well cooked food. Location excellent. The only thing I found tricky was parking.
- Buzz (6/5): It fulfilled our need at the time adequately - We had a warm welcome but found our room slightly disappointing. The very small bathroom consisted of a shower and toilet with the washbasin being in the bedroom and the toilet was problematic and very noisy on flushing.
The breakfasts were good and we had a tray to make tea / coffee in our room. We felt overall for the amount of money charged per night that the bathroom facilities were rather lacking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quirky, characterful little spot for a quiet break - We enjoyed our stay at The Old Lockup, where we based ourselves for a short break in the Peak District. It's a quirky, characterful little place, in a quiet location, yet only a few minutes' walk from the various pubs and restaurants in Wirksworth. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and the breakfast that was provided was very tasty. All in all, we'd recommend it.
- Gary (10/5): - great place to stay great breakfast
