Guest Reviews
- Bridget Collett (4/5): Don’t come here for the pool! Over priced, low standards and Not value for money. - History and painted interior walls, a desert courtyard on approach is the best thing about this old fort hotel. There’s a decorative palace and hotel cafe buildings within walking distance worth a visit. There is a bar that serves canned beer, wine and spirits, bar man was welcoming and gave good service, lovely decorative interior, a pleasant experience. Don’t come here for luxury as the photos are several years old and not how it is today, black stained stonework and tired decor. They 'upgraded' us to a turret room which was basic but comfortable, we didn’t see any luxurious rooms or four poster beds. Our room was not cleaned on second day, no fresh towels (towels we got from reception were dirty) and they tried to charge us for room water which we objected. Heater in room was sparking and melted at the socket so they replaced it with a 1970’s filament heater which was sufficient.
Breakfast had a sufficient variety, fresh cooked eggs and fruit. Evening meals were of good quality and service was ok and friendly except on observing them they had very poor hygiene practices (food arrives from kitchen to a service table, then arranged before serving to table, bread handled unnecessarily 7 times in front of us). Online Communication may be a problem - they had not seen our reservation prior to arrival so we had to email it to them. I had messaged prior to arrival re dietary needs (requested no alternative milk and no onion meal if possible), but they couldn’t / didn’t accommodate this even when asked at the hotel. A small improvement in management of cleanliness and hygiene will make a large difference to this hotel and its standards. On our first day, standards were poor across the hotel, then a VIP visited on the second day and standards were significantly improved across every area - it’s a pity they could not be consistent! Swimming pool is a huge decorative pigeon bath, not possible to swim, such a disappointment as it once looked beautiful - the photos give an expectation that will not be met. Town is busy, a lot of fires and rubbish on streets and many people hassle you to buy. With a little effort Mandawa and this hotel could be a great holiday destination. Noise outside - processions, drumming and dogs - all at 6am might not be for everyone.

- martino (7/5): Great stay in a welcoming beautiful hotel with a few dates details - Location, kindness of the whole staff, food were all optimal. Also, the Castle is beautiful and grand, also worth a visit on its own. Could not get hot water in my room , the swimming pool is not viable for western tourists and the AC system is very old and uncomfortable.
- Harpreet (4/5): Mandawa has other better Havelis - Only the city and the havelis Most inhospitable property ever, it was pretty clear that this place does not care about the guest.
The place was untidy..
I would suggest people should check out other Haveli's as you would have better cultural experience and hospitality there.
- Indu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tarannum (7/5): Good - Only the property. Food is over expensive. Rooms were ok types
- D (10/5): Quite impressive - The breakfast was good and sumptuous and so was the lunch and dinner. All of us had a great experience during our stay in the property and wished we could a little more of our time. Of course, there is always a next time. Every thing was as per our expectation so far as the property is concerned. I only wish that Castle Mandawa Haveli produces a small printed booklet highlighting the historical background of Mandawa in general and the Castle in particular. This will add to the value of our stay in the property.
- Singhal (5/5): Passable - Location is good for Amanda and room was good too. I have booked for 4 person but voucher was reflecting only 2 adults+1 kid, they have charged 2000 Rs extra for one kid.
- Ulrich (10/5): Very enjoyable -
- Devika (5/5): beautiful property but old and required maintenance - the property is beautiful cleanliness and hygience is poor.
the rooms are dilapidated
requires urgent renovation
- Poonam (9/5): A memorable stay. - Beautiful heritage fort property in the middle of Mandawa town. Very well maintained with spacious and comfortable rooms. Pool area is awesome. Loved the interiors of restaurant and the coffee shop. Good food and courteous staff. Excellent property to explore Shekhawati Rajasthan.
- Phadke (9/5): Great place for a quality royal feel vacation. - They gave us an upgrade to the Suite. Very considerate of them. It was awesome Running hot water facility can be better. It was okayish.
- Adriaan (9/5): Superb -
- Himanshu (6/5): This is a small city. Hence one can not expect professionally run hotel Service. - It's a palace converted in a Hotel.
Restaurant staff although untrained were good.
Food is paasable Hot Water is disaster.
Bathing space is a disaster.
- Priyanka (9/5): Superb -
- Ramyangshu (9/5): Superb - The atmosphere, the rooms.. Wifi was not available in our rooms
- Piyush Bhartia (10/5): - It’s a heritage palace
- Anshuman (8/5): Very good - Property location, maintenance, feel, staff behaviour, comfort Pool was not clean, food platter,
- Martin (6/5): Nice place but the amenities (swimming pool, restaurant, bar) were disappointing. -
- Javed (7/5): Very pleasant - Breakfast was ok, but could certainly be improved on Barely any fruit. Breads are very hard and dense as were the Idlis
- Mona (8/5): - The property is very nicely preserved. The right blend of heritage with modern amenities.
Dinner was very nice.
Breakfast was not good. The food was not hot and idli was hard as rock.
- Aniljeet (8/5): Very good -
- Swati (8/5): Very good -
- Miraingemann (8/5): Very good - Nice Big room.
Kind staff and good breakfast. Sheet dirty. Not cleaned. Found a lot of back hair on the bathroom. When we told the staff they just remove it without apologizing or anything else.
Room was quite cold.
- Chaudhry (7/5): Good -
- Shailendra (6/5): Pleasant - Nice and friendly staff
Authentic historical haveli Linen was not clean
Limited meal options
Disturbed by namaz sermons by nearby mosque
- Maria (7/5): Good -
- Ravi (3/5): Poor -
- Mayur (10/5): Nice Stay but… - Property is good and so the hospitality but somewhere I found things not up to the mark may be due to they are doing cost cutting because of very less occupancy.
Lights of castle were not lit completely and it is extremely away if you compare it with photographs of palace taken during night and if you go there for photography.
Staff is nice however menu of restaurant is very limited.
- Parbeer Singh (8/5): Nice Castle - This is a once visit kind of property. Very basic system of running a hotel. The castle appeals to your senses if you don’t think too much.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The idea to restore a fort and to transform it into an hotel is nice but isn’t fully renovated yet.
Friendly staff and good restaurant. The breakfast’s price is disproportionate.
Nice pool but no shadow.
- Marco (6/5): ok hotel - Hotel is ok, nothing too bad, nothing too fancy. Half decent breakfast, rooms without TV, shower that will flood the whole bathroom. Considering the location though it's not too bad.
- Django (10/5): Best base for a trip through Shekhawati - This hotel has character-a fairy tale castle.Quirky and interesting rooms, very comfortable beds.Good Rajasthani food.Very efficient staff, polite and responsive.Overall,an excellent place to stay and a wonderful place to spend an evening or two.
- Joseph (8/5): very nice experience, no justifying the high - impressive building. huge nice rooms (maybe too big...) decorated with good taste.
the team was hospitalizing and did what ever required to please us. including local fantastic tour. we were not happy with the internet performance and had the impression the maintenance is not good and the cleanness is relative. The restaurant was excellent and the service first class.
still we find the relatively to other similar hotels, the rate is high and not returning the full investment.
- Anurag (8/5): Great Palace for overnight stay - Mandawa is a living museum full of beautifully painted maedival Havelis. Castle occupies half of its grandest Haveli. They have. Restored it well, for the people with sophisticated taste. The staff is courteous and friendly, but somewhere shallow, hence dont plan to stay long. The service is designed around French group tourists, which is their mainstay. Food is ok ok, and expensive for what it is.
