- Vladimir (8/5): A decent hotel for a one-night stay - The room was very tiny, with the bed occupying most of the space. There was a desk with a big mirror, two chairs and a small table with a tea tray. A railing with hangers was available on one of the walls. I was surprised to find in the room an ironing board and an iron - a great addition to any room, IMHO. The bed was very comfy and I really enjoyed my sleep. The windows both in the room and in a bathroom were quite old and seemed to provide poor insulation. Also, though a radiator was present, it was not working and I had either to stay in my jacket or cover myself in a duvet. I would ask somebody on the reception about heating, but I realised it late in the evening and there was nobody sitting there already.

- Gray (6/5): Pleasant but need new mattresses - The location for west end was brilliant and we managed to park outside the hotel. The receptionist was friendly and our room was clean and very large that had tea and coffee facilities. We didn't eat in the hotel but walked along and paid to eat the grosvenor buffet which was lovely. It seemed more of a b&b than a hotel and I feel was quite high priced. For an extra £40 we could have stayed in the hilton. The mattress was comfortable but sloped down at the side so it was not overly comfortable. It is a double so when shared it was not a great sleep. The decor is dated but does add character.

The property is a bit tired and could maybe do with some renovation, however it is a boutique hotel with some nice features such as high ceilings, coving etc. The reception is not staffed all the time and I couldn't get a response the one time I phoned down. There is a small bar but it closes at 10.00 p.m. I stayed on a Thursday night and didn't see a fellow guest during my stay, however I didn't opt to have breakfast. There is parking outside the hotel, but it is very expensive. You don't pay between 18:00 and 08:00. I arrived at 17:06 and left the following morning at 09:36, parking cost £12.80, for 2.5 hours of parking.

- angela (3/5): Avoid! Overpriced due to faults mentioned below and management refusal to try to resolve complaint - Staff were friendly and hotel in a great location. Problem with heating meant I had a disturbed sleep both nights; first night it kept resetting itself to a sweltering 26 degrees then the second night after it was "fixed" to a chilly 5 degrees. I paid for the premium room and 2 of the jets on the spa bath were not working properly. Reported all again to receptionist upon checkout (I only changed to the working side of bath that morning so hadn´t noticed this fault previously) and was advised manager would call me. An email, completed web form and a further call to discuss a partial refund were all stonewalled as was Booking.com when they tried to deal with this for me. It is now 24 days since I checked out so clearly management are just happy to take your money and stay hidden behind the scenes. Outwith this the hotel itself looks to of been somewhat grand in it´s day however is now pretty shabby and worn with no staff on site after 2pm. There are also lots of nice places nearby for breakfast, I would recommend trying them as the continental breakfast options offered here are very poor and sofa in dining room could do with a good scrub! Great area though, I would definatley return to a different hotel on same street and advise you do the same.

- Phil (4/5): - Good location and instructions for my arrival were clear and easy to follow. Room was very dated and quite cold. (It was in the basement, but heating was inadequate). Bed was not anchored and moved when I leant my head against the headboard. Shower was great but the fitting was very loose making it impossible to use, although I was given access to another room to use that shower, which was good. Breakfast was only ok but I think the waitress was also the breakfast cook. Parking is available if you're really lucky but it's extortionate! £10 for 2 hours??? There was free parking along the road opposite but the spaces were few and far between.

- Alexandra (5/5): Decent but overpriced for what it is - great location by the botanics, west end no fridge in room, the windows are old and single glazed with a big draft coming in. Very cold in the room and the heater does not really help that much. The room while it looks nice, is old, and the bathroom door being a fire door is just annoying to open and close and quite heavy. No staff are at the hotel when you check in which is a little weird if you have questions, you're just on your own.

- Max (8/5): Great value for an elegant old-fashioned hotel in Glasgow's West End - Our room was large and elegant, with a pair of upholstered chairs and an old wooden desk in the corner. It sort of felt like being in a Georgian townhouse. I was surprised to open the bathroom door and find a Jacuzzi, of which I regrettably did not avail myself. This hotel is located with easy access to the West End and the botanical gardens. Our bathroom sink was very slow to drain, which was a bit annoying. I could not for the life of me figure out how to make the shower work...probably user error, and I'm sure the staff would have been happy to help me with that had I asked.
- Xavier (1/5): DESASTREUX - la chambre réservée était une chambre à l'étage selon la photo du site internet Booking, nous avons eu une chambre au sous-sol, numéro 4, avec vue sur les poubelles de l'hôtel, trop grande, très très froide, salle de bains non chauffée, carrelage cassé au sol devant les toilettes, la lumière ne fonctionnait pas au dessus du lavabo, miroir ridicule, 2 lits de 2 places...et 1 seul porte serviette !!!!, la lumière au dessus du lit n'avait pas d'ampoule, nous avons demandé à changer de chambre, pas possible car soi-disant complet, ils nous ont prété un radiateur electrique que nous avons laisser de 19 h à 8 h du matin sur 27 ° pour avoir une température à peine supportable, lits très peu confortable,petit déjeuner en dessous de la norme, etc...

- Rebecca (7/5): - The location was great as it was near to the clinic which I was booked into having an operation at the following morning. The room was clean and there was a good selection of teas and coffees. I received a message before I arrived to say that there would be no staff present from 2pm. I got there, found I was in a basement room which was so cold I had to get into bed with my coat on to warm up. In the end I had to ring the on call staff member to ask for ths heating to be put on, which to be fair happened instantly Also there was a couple arguing until 2am in a room close to mine but thats not the hotels fault.

Shower grouting was all discoloured. On arrival the property is quite damp smelling. The bed was small and very squeaky. Only 1 pillow each. Room was freezing with heating hard to understand.

The room itself was very spacious and lovely, and spa bath was lovely. The facilities were very poor. Only one cup left in room for morning tea, of which looked like it had lips tick mark on it, no ironing board as stated, and no shower gel or shampoo, just empty containers on the shower wall.

The room had all amenities required, could do with a spoon for a cup of tea, and was spacious enough to get ready to go out. Good parking options out the front. The mattress may be due a replacement as it was very dipped in the middle and uncomfortable on the springs. The shower was not very powerful.

Though woke up cold as it being such a large room to heat up with the main heater on the wall being on a timer, yes its winter and mainly a cold night. Thankfully rectified by the staff got a portable heater made the difference. Breakfast was lovely and loved it being served to you which was included in the price so stayed another night. The stairs its quite a climb but not to worry I made it down to breakfast. (no lift) beautiful staircase and have kept up with the Victorian Finishes lovely

- Oliver (10/5): Peaceful and very comfortable. - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Belhaven Hotel. The building is full of character and the room was extremely comfortable. The gentleman who greeted me at Reception was extremely helpful. As I was relatively unfamiliar with Glasgow's West End he gave me some recommendations of bars and restaurants to visit while I was there. Overall a great stay and I hope to return one day. I can't think of anything that could've been better.
