Guest Reviews
- Cynthia (9/5): - The hotel is lovely and situated on a gorgeous beach. Access to snorkeling was excellent and our kids loved the free use of kayaks. Staff were friendly, and the grounds didn't feel crowded even though there was high occupancy and it was a holiday weekend. The menu is limited, and the restaurant hours are limited. Hours are also limited at nearby restaurants and the few stores which are around. This makes it important for families traveling with kids to plan ahead and make sure they have the food/snacks they need to make it through the day.

- Michel (7/5): Mauvais accueil - L 'emplacement, magnifique !

- Beatrice (5/5): If you are not picky with your food then this is ok. It is a unique location but the management does not seem to take to - Beautiful location Facilities are not well taken care of. Food is not good.

- Suzana (9/5): A week in paradise - The location is excellent, right on the beach with reef full of fish, turtles within easy reach. Staff was very helpfull dealing with our canceled flight and helping us find alternative way back to Noumea. We visited in rainy season season so we got stuck in the room one whole day. Facilities are a bit tired and could do with refreshment.
- Lidia (7/5): Nature paradise, great resort, being ruined by dozens of dirty dogs - Room was really nice, clean, spacious, shower and bathroom was great, the water pressure is stunning, felt like washed all my cells. There is a kettle for some tea, they provide 1.5l water bottles every day. Location is amazing, two gorgeous white beaches with blue water, pines and palms, real paradise, small island nearby for snorkeling. There are excursions and transfers to see local sightseeing places. There are a lot of stray dogs roaming through the beaches several times a day and pestering at breakfast for food (pure antisanatary), it is not 1 or 2, there are packs of 7 and more!!! It is truly terrifying for those who have fear of dogs, because for sure they will come to you to beg for food, not to mention that they spread diseases and parasites, shit all over the beaches and destroy local wildlife, why such issue is just ignored at such really very expensive! resort is beyond me, the cost is like 5-star hotel in Dubai Marina or 5-star hotel on Seychelles, instead of truly relaxing at such gorgeous nature place, half a day in anxiety that these dogs will run sniffing my stuff again and again. For so much money, it should be safe and relaxing space for everyone, not just dog lovers.

- Janice (10/5): We had a wonderful time, so much it’s on my list of must return! - We had an incredible stay at Oure Lodge. The rooms are very spacious and stylish. The location is a 10/10 it couldn’t be better. The resort is in the middle of its own bay and is picture perfect, we saw turtles when snorkeling. Free kayaks, free snorkel equipment so you have activities to do. Breakfast is good for what you get on a tropical island (pastries, jam, cured meats, fruits, yogurt, cereal and plenty of cheese). The hamburger and fries are good, the prawn dish is great. The duck or pork dish was dry so we went back to the prawns! There are neighbouring restaurants you can go to and eat at as well. It’s a drive to the main town but we didn’t have reason to go. We organised a snorkel and boat day trip which was relaxing, beautiful and had a great lobster lunch on a small island. Lots of friendly stray dogs I fed bananas and bread too. Stock up on snacks in Nouméa or your home country before coming. Wifi and cell service is slow on the island but honestly that’s why I love it too. It forces your to slow things down and relax. 100% have recommended Oure lodge to friends and family and definitely will return!! Outdoors furniture on the beach wasn’t plentiful, could do with some new cushions.
- JEAN PIERRE (8/5): -
- Carol (8/5): Three days of peace & quiet while swimming, snorkeling, walking & kayaking. A wonderful break from the bustle of - Its location on an exceptionally beautiful bay.
- Freddy (8/5): -
- Jen (9/5): - Amazing location on the lagoon
- Glenn (8/5): -
- Helen (9/5): -
- Lorena (10/5): -
- Lidia (4/5): - The location was very lovely. The breakfast and food was very average. The facilities were also quite run down in areas.
- Elissa (6/5): Beautiful eco lodge that may be a little tired at the moment. The natural environment was breathtaking but they do need - Beautiful part of the world. Pristine beaches and surrounded by natural beauty. Also very quiet at night. The private beach with snorkeling and kayaks was great. The rooms were also very spacious with great hot water.
- Philip (10/5): - The beach was just incredible. When you have a beach that good, who cares about the rest (even though everything else was good too). No decent coffee. They had a good barista machine, but didn't know how/want to use it? I am a coffee snob, and am used to not being able to find decent coffee in Paris so didn't have high expectations here.
- Genevieve Jarrett (8/5): - Great staff, comfortable and clean accomodation and spectacular swimming/ views. No lunch or dinner options for vegetarians/ just hot chips.
- ALICE (9/5): - Bungalows in the middle of a beautiful tropical garden. Peaceful environment with access to a gorgeous beach. This was like paradise. Good breakfast, included in the room. The Restaurant for dining was not the best.
- Maurizio (10/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): -
- Alexandre (10/5): -
- Olivier (10/5): Great stay - Amazing property, in a truly special Island
- Matthieu (7/5): Nice but expensive. - Location is absolutely stunning, reef is nice just in front of the resort.
Garden is well maintained.
Bungalows are decent size and comfortable. Beach lounge chairs were a bit worn and only few get a mattress.
Restaurant food choice was a bit limited and pricey.
Food was good though.
Activities were overpriced compared to other hotels.
For this price i was excepting more tbh
- Franck (10/5): Magique !
- Martin (9/5): - wifi connection was poor
- Habiba (8/5): Probably the best you gonna do in iles des pins unfortunately - you can’t beat the location here !
most of the staff is really good. There is one chain smoking man always lingering at reception, i met rocks more useful than him. Wish they would get rid of him and let the women do their job peacefully Food isn’t that great but it isn’t that good in all of new caledonia and it’s fairly expensive
Again, useless man at the front? would love to see him go
If you need a motorcycle, they will recommend that stoned slenderman looking hippie nearby… give it a miss. That man couldn’t know customer service if it hit me square in the face. Absolute weirdo that champ. He needs a shower and rehab
- Flo (10/5): -
- Hillier (6/5): - Location was good. Very expensive for what you get, but this is the New Caledonia accriss the board. With the local economy being effected by Tourism being down, the facilities are missing some upkeep. Breakfast accordingly was not extensive, but dinner options were aplenty, though hit and miss on delivering. Left a diving mask on private bungalow verandah to dry, but went walking during the night, and another guest heard footsteps on private verandah at night. All a sign of the current environment and economical times. Shame..
- VANDEKERKHOVE (9/5): -
- Giuseppe (7/5): Relaxing and enchanting in a beautiful spot but rough edges need smoothing - The location is amazing. The beach is incredible and the gardens are so lovely. Having friendly dogs being around is really nice, and whilst they’re considered wild they are a homely addition. There are only around 30 bungalows and they are well spaced. This is a place to relax and unwind. The walkways make it hard to get your luggage to your room. Having only one restaurant with a limited dinner and wine menu is challenging if you’re staying for several nights. For the price you pay, the breakfast is unfortunately quite poor and could be easily improved. Likewise the bungalow decor and accessories need upgrading. For tours, it would be helpful to receive advice such as for Oro, you really need water shoes to wade through the water to get to the natural pool. There seems to be missed opportunities to make the lodge more comfortable and easy for guests to enjoy the overall experience e.g provide more snack options for purchasing, open the restaurant at 6pm instead of 7 etc.

- Maxine (4/5): - Location was everything and the only thing. The staff were extremely rude to us. If you are not French speaking they ignore you. The breakfast was poor, you can eat it but expectation of a French resort we would have expected quality food. Our first day we got greeted by an amazing receptionist and that is where it ended. Our first dinner we waited 15minutes before the bartender/restaurant lady would even acknowledge us, we didn’t get served at all we had to walk to go and order. The man and lady that was on shift that first night made us feel as if we were a burden being there. Lack of guest experience and awareness was extremely frustrating. Our second day, our accommodation burst with water, we had to be moved to another room which was just inconvenient. For which no customer service was offered. The beds are two single beds pushed together which is not ideal given we booked as a couple. The breakfast was below par, no alternative milks or hot food. When asked for coffee again staff were extremely rude there was only one service older lady on our last 2 days that was super kind on dinner service.
We ended up not wanting to communicate with the staff out of fear we would be ignored or offended.
All services were provided late, breakfast, dinner, opening of the kayaks all started late about 30mins after the suggested start time which again is frustrating given it should be ready by the prescribed times that the resort give you otherwise move your times.
Overall the resort was a miss. The location was beautiful and that is what made our trip solely. I would recommend the resort take stock. We understand it’s a remote location however it is a resort with guests that are paying for an experience that includes expectations (at a minimum) from a resort.
- Christophe (8/5): Too expensive - All is quite good mainly due to the spot
Staff is lovely
Location is quiet and peaceful This is really expensive compared to the service
No wifi except at the reception when you paid such a price everything should be perfect
Excursion is really expensive for what we did but the lunch time was awesome
- Elizabeth (9/5): Surreal - Beautiful location, stunning gardens, beach and loved the bird song. Magnificent snorkeling, beach and view.
The staff went above and beyond.
Surreal calmness best describes the experience.
- Nicole (8/5): Très bien - Tout était très bien. La literie moyenne
- Emmanuel (8/5): Un endroit magnifique… mais cher - Localisation Cher
Qualité de nourriture moyenne
- Fremaul (9/5): -
- john (5/5): could have been better - The Location is superb Dealing with the managers was awful and left a bad taste. The food is OK but limited and it is 4star closer
to 3 star. However the place is so well located that it remains v enjoyable. It is overpriced. There is no real
competition
- Rob (8/5): -
- Zaliha (6/5): C’était bien -
- Stephane (8/5): -
- Jiří F. (8/5): - Excellent location in a beautiful bay. The accommodation was great. The service at the restaurant on site was slow and the prices were quite high. The restaurant Les trois nautiles at the other end of the bay provided better service.
- Chantal (9/5): I had the most relaxing holiday at Oure Lodge resort and would definitely come back. The location is perfect - The location is exceptionally beautiful. The accommodation/bungalows is comfortable and of good quality. The grounds are well maintained. The staff is warm, welcoming, very accommodating and helpful in organising everything from transfers to day tours. The food is generally excellent. Some parts could do with a little renovation to reflect the price of the accommodation: the sun loungers and cushions, the bathrooms in the bungalows, some of the furniture and soft furnishings in the bungalows and other areas. However, none of this affected the quality of the stay. The quality of the food from the restaurant was a little inconsistent, ranging from exceptional to poor at times, which was somewhat disappointing, especially given the price of the meals.
- Kenneth (10/5): An actual paradise - Absolute paradise of a location to stay. You literally have the clearest waters right by your feet and the friendliest staff to accommodate your needs. The resturant served amazing dishes every night that were cooked perfectly and all the furry friends around made the stay even better! The only thing I didn't like is that I didnt stay even longer here ! Im already planning my next stay here and cannot wait.
- Laurent (10/5): - Site magnifique belle plage
Très bon accueil
- Camila (9/5): Great location with a friendly/helpful staff! - Great location at a stunning beach..Friendly and helpful staff The property asks for a bit of maintenance, also limited options at the restaurant - but again, the staff was super helpful in accommodating requests..
Plage vide ! Quasi privée.
- Catherine (8/5): Pretty location - The room/bungalow itself was better than I expected. Its good quality, solid build, with its own balcony and seats and spacious inside with wooden floors. I was happy to see a decent size bath in the bathroom as well as a separate shower and toilet. There was a single bed set up for our daughter and overall we were pleased with being one row back from the beach. It even had an umbrella, needed one day. They provide a bottle of drinking water per day. There's even a little heater in the cupboard which we needed the last rainy day. There was a car available to hire for the day. Go to the natural swimming hole on Bay Oro. Nothing to eat though anywhere other than Oura or the other hotel next to it. There's chickens and few dogs roaming around which our child enjoyed. There is coral reef right off the beach in front of the resort, we saw a turtle right there. There's good kayaking in the bay but the little island has a lot of sea snakes. There's more convict ruins across the bay and a little gift shop. The restaurant staff were borderline friendly and never knew us by name or room. The selection at the restaurant gets really tired after five nights. We ate one night at neighbouring restaurant for variety. Does anyone actually want the snails? I didn't know what montgolfiere was, its not a hot air balloon but a puff pastry type dish. The snack menu available until 5pm was only two things, burger or a ham panini thing with chips. We had that for dinner one night for variety and eating at 7pm in the restaurant was really late for us and our daughter. The food was expensive so most days we just had the included breakfast and then dinner. We filled up on the breakfast which was decent. They don't have a lot of fruit but managed fruit salad by the end of it. We got used to the machine push a button coffee they have in the country. Also the recreation shed could be improved. Three usable kayaks and one with a hole. And literally no snorkel gear beyond fins. Shame as the reef off the resort is decent. The bikes should be free, no one used them at all. They were as expensive as hiring the car for the day if there's 3 of you. Also the shuttle should be free there's no other option. We had to make do with our own goggles. It would also be nice if they fed the local dogs some dog food so we didn't have too. They did one tour for snorkelling but it was long all day like 6 hours which we felt too long and with wind etc. The weather is generally a cool temperate climate so just keep that in mind, pack jackets and wet suit if mid year. Also bring your own snacks from home and snorkels.
Temps d’attente resto très long
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrea (9/5): Heaven on earth. Super peaceful place And very comfy - Everything was great! Comfiest bed.
Meals were delicious, well presented
Staff was very patient with our poor French and happily speaked English with us
- Rania (4/5): Run down, not maintained, abandoned hotel - Beautiful bay, too bad it rain the whole time Horrid, non existent breakfast. Run down hotel. Abandoned. But so was the whole island.
- Allan (7/5): I would recommend it for those looking to unwind in a serene beach setting - I recently stayed at Oure Lodge Beach Resort and overall had a pleasant experience. The resort is set in a beautiful location with direct access to a lovely beach. The water is crystal clear—perfect for swimming, snorkeling, or even kayaking. It’s an ideal spot for those who enjoy spending time in and around the ocean.
The room I stayed in was spacious and comfortable, featuring a large bathtub that added a touch of relaxation to the stay. It was clean and well-maintained, which I appreciated. The Wi-Fi was quite weak and inconsistent, which could be frustrating if you need to stay connected. Additionally, the breakfast options were limited and could use some variety to better cater to different preferences.
- Mathew (4/5): - An ok to place to stay, but nothing exceptional. Quite a way away from the airport. Though with only a few options, seems ok. However, pretty sure I got food poisoning for a day when I stayed which was very unpleasant.
- Simon (5/5): This is an amazing location but the resort faces some logistical challanges after 2024 and is tired. - Stunning location, beachfront bungalow very pleasant Resort is shabby and neglected, sunbeds broken and dirty which really undermines the experience.
