Guest Reviews
- Fabio Manuel (8/5): - It is in the middle of a natural reserve, lots of jungle and great trees, birds, wild life. Property needs maintenance.
- Evan (10/5): - Great service clean rooms
- Veronica (10/5): - Great place
- Ted (10/5): - Right on the beach. Very clean and beach is clean, too!🙂
- Natasha (8/5): - You'll have the whole beach to yourself.
- Jorge (6/5): - Les falta mayor aseo en las habitaciones
- Michelle (10/5): - Amazing place. Peaceful, quiet, nice pool area and beautiful beach. We stay here everytime. Great place for kids as well
- Janelle (10/5): - Genial excelente atención
- Rene (8/5): - Complexe qui manque un peu d’entretien, peu d’eau chaude, route pleine de trous pour s’y rendre. Belle plage et bonne nourriture.
- cliff (10/5): - A great location in front of the beach
- Luis (10/5): - Nice people
- Carletta (8/5): - The property is nice but the restaurant is a bit mediocre. It is 3-4 miles from town and the taxi service is $20 each way. So you’re pretty much stuck there. That said, the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. A good place for a family.
- Carlos (8/5): - There was no Wifi on the rooms, or tv,
- Verified traveler (8/5): Right by the beach - Situated close to a wonderful beach with beautifully kept gardens. About 20 mins drive from Puerto Jimenez down an unpaved road. Nice pool. We booked a suite which turned out to be a bedroom with two queen beds, a ‘sitting room’ with no aircon so we used it to store our luggage and another room with an ancient whirlpool bath we didn’t use.
Not much hot water and shower absolutely needs updating. Good air conditioning. Wifi a bit patchy. Breakfast was okay but restaurant was below par. Staff were lovely.
- Nattanahel Alberto Chaves (8/5): - El camino a la propiedad si bien no está asfaltados, no representa inconveniente para automóviles. La playa frente al hotel es muy bonita y tranquila. La comida es buena.
- Darren (10/5): - Great Stay. Very nice pool area, and the beach out front is beautiful.
- Lori (8/5): - BEAUTIFUL property and body of water right on the property. amazing. Food was very good. only negative points. Rooms were a bit run down. This issue doesn’t bother me however the beds were terribly uncomfortable as a person with back issues. that was an important point for me. Also no mention of the conditions of the drive in. We happened to have rented a 4x4 which did us well however we would not have gotten in otherwise. Over all I would stay again. 😊
- David (10/5): - The staff was excellent. They were helpful and kind. The food was delicious and nutritious.
I recommend bringing a bit more cash than you think you’d because atms are rare, and you’ll want to tip the staff because they truly deserve it.
Thank you Agua Dulce!
- Víctor Garro (10/5): - Great experience, tidy and clean.
Food was amazing!
- Annette (8/5): - this is a great place secluded right on the beach I had to pay extra to have a fridge which was in an area that had a living space so it would've been nice to have the area, even if we hadn't had to pay for the fridge. The room had two beds and a shelf and a bathroom no chairs except for on the patio a diamond in the rough. Look like they were doing some renovations could see this place only getting better. The food was good and was nice to have dining available if needed. this place is far from shopping and having some type of kitchenette would be nice.
- Rami (4/5): - The WiFi doesn't work in the rooms, only in the lobby, and with a VERY LOW bandwidth. the poolside bar is not working and the pool itself is dirty. There is a constant noise of a loud motor coming from the lobby area, we informed the reception several times but it didn't help. the pool table is broken. the cappuccino machine is not working. The laundry cost $1 per item!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting - Horrible experience period. This place is totally rundown including their towels, sheets and pool. No ice machine, but the restaurant can charge you for “some”. No wifi in room, but you can TRY to use what they call wifi in the lobby area (not). No mini fridge, no coffee maker, oh wait! You can pay extra for the adjoining “room” and you’ll find them there. We had 2 rooms with adjoining space in between. 9a 9b. 9a shower wouldn’t drain! We had booked 3 nights but there was NO WAY we could stay! We aren’t that picky but when you get grossed out, there’s just no way to get over it. The shower was the last straw.
- Michael P (6/5): - We enjoyed the pool for an afternoon and the location was perfect, right on the beach which was great. The hotel was quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
However, overall the hotel seemed quite dated in need of an refresh. Compared to hotels of a similar price, and cheaper, in Costa Rica we were a little disappointed with this hotel.
- Stefan (10/5): - The vista and solitude are unique! We loved the view of the ocean from the restaurant and the wide variety of animals, as well as the pristine beach
- Diego Oconitrillo (6/5): - THERE IS NO INTERNET IN THE ROOMS AND IT IS NECESSARY.
THE POOL BAR CLOSED.
THE HOTEL NEEDS AN ICE MACHINE FOR ITS CUSTOMERS.
THE RESTAURANT COULD IMPROVE
THANK YOU.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The road in made me nervous, with big potholes. Then I arrived and had lunch listening to Macaws calling from the trees and howler monkeys not too distant. If you want a beach, a pool, and a good room near the Costa Rican jungle, this fills the bill. The restaurant was adequate with very friendly service, but I had a great dinner down the beach at Pearl of he Osa, only a short walk away. Overall, a great place.
- Ronald (10/5): - People very kind and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - WiFi service only works at the reception desk and not in the rooms, the restaurant at the hotel has very good food and drinks, COVID rules are enforced and clean property throughout
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly and supportive staff. There is an Italian restaurant inside the hotel, super delicious!
- Adam (10/5): - We loved our stay at the Agua Dulce Hotel. It is exactly what we needed, a relaxed and secluded spot with all the basics to escape for a few days. It is about 15 min by car from the center of Puerto Jiménez, so you can drive out if you need something. The hotel is right at the beach, and it is beautiful there. We had the place almost to ourselves. The pool is great. The room was basic but spacious, it had everything you need, simple but good. The luxury of this place, besides from the wonderful staff, is that you really get the feeling of an escape from it all.
- Dr Susannah (8/5): - The beach is beautiful; the hotel rooms are clean and nice. The restaurant has good food, but not excellent. The pool is very good for swimming and playing, and there are birds and iguanas everywhere.
- robert (8/5): - last mile or so of the road to get to the hotel is a tad rough. pool was excellent. cooked a fish that we caught, excellent.
- Grier (8/5): No-frills motel experience, NOT a resort! - As many of the online reviews on various sites state, this place does NOT qualify as a resort! The rooms are very spartan (bare walls) and have old, tired mattresses (without mattress pad covers) topped with soiled, worn bed linens that do not fit the mattress! Many of the properties listed amenities are missing, in poor condition or not in use (hair dryers, swim up pool bar, lounge chairs & umbrellas on the beach, etc.)! Next door, the lovely, well-kept Iguana Lodge (with its well-kept grounds, gorgeous pool, beautiful rooms & TWO excellent restaurants) offers their guests a far more accurate, desirable and inviting stay...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellente private hotel right next to the beach, very quiet and peaceful.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There was no water all night and we had an early flight and were not able to take a shower.
- Thomas (8/5): The very good and the not so very good. - I'll start with the downside. The road from puerto Jimenez is not long (a couple of miles) but it gets a little rough. The hotel is sort of isolated which is good to a point. The only restaurant on site is Italian???? (Tasty, but do you want to eat Italian for a week?). The hotel exterior is in fair condition,
The positives: maybe the best swimming pool in Costa Rica. And a beach right on the bay. The rooms and beds are nice, Our room had a jacuzzi room and a sitting room. The hotel has about six buildings, each with a different owner. I'd recommend the building next to the pool. The reception and staff were excellent.
Puerto Jimenez has a lot of low end hotels and hostels. It has a few expensive places. This is one of the few mid priced ones.
- traveler (6/5): - The biggest plus is that our room was really clean. The property is not anywhere close to the town so walking somewhere is not really feasible. The road is very rocky dirt and unlit at night so going elsewhere for dinner was not a great option. The food was fine - in fact the pizza was quite good. As for the rest, well, the amenities were mimimal. Examples: no Kleenex, small, cheap pillows, one nightstand in a room with 2 double beds, cheap towels, no refrigerator, charging for tap water at the restaurant, 3 chairs at the beach for the entire hotel. I could go on but I'm sure you get the idea. In general, I understand the need to make a profit but too many corners were cut.
- JH (10/5): - Out of the way and worth it! Steps from the beach, restaurant on site, breakfast included, pool. Clean, friendly -- everything you need!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is directly next to a fine, raked beach that is somewhat remote so there are not many people around. The rooms are large, clean and quiet.
- sun (8/5): go for the location not the hotel rooms - This place has mixed feelings for us. Location is beautiful though too far from town to get to restaurants and such. It's secluded enough and saw many wild life from Macaws to Howler monkeys which we didn't get to see well in Osa National Park with a private guide. Hotel room is bit run down for the price we paid but the breakfast included was good not the best I had, and I wished they had a better selection of tropical fruit. Coffee was alright and service was great with serving staff but the hotel counter staff was bit cold and stern. Over all the price point is bit high for the quality of room.
- John (4/5): - You need to know this “resort” is at the end of a long dirt road and seriously needs a makeover. The only positive is the chef comes from Sicily and his homemade pasta dishes are fantastic, otherwise there is not a compelling reason to visit this isolated property which is nothing more than a glorified motel. However if you like sand fleas biting at you while sitting on the beach this place is perfect.
- Robin J (8/5): Great time in Puerto Jimenez - The property is neat and well maintained. Right on the beach which is not a busy place. The beach is not typical umbrellas and chairs. If you love nature, this is a great place to go. The rooms are comfortable with air-conditioning. Not exactly an ecolodge, sort of apartment style buildings. Good value for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the location. Walk to the quiet clean beaches. The pool was refreshing and clean. The restaurant served good food. Rooms are basic but who needs more when you're there? Puerto Jimenez is a close drive. Authentic tico town. Will definitely recommend to everyone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Huge beach, nice staff. In the middle of jungles with a lot of fauna
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The property itself was acceptable and having an ocean view was very nice. I gave a disappointing rating because we didn't have electricity or water on my second night and on the third day there was no electricity all day and periods of water outages. On the forth day, the electricity came on around noon. While the electrical outage may have been unavoidable due to severe weather in the area, I was most disappointed because there was no offer to compensate us for the major inconvenience. My family was looking to host our reunion here next year, but I had to give them the feedback regarding management and customer service, which is really unfortunate.
- Luis (8/5): - What I liked the most was the attitude of the staff. All of them were really friendly and warm. They tried to make our time there even more pleasant
- Mike (8/5): - Food was not good. Bathroom was huge but only had one small light.
- James (10/5): Great for Wildlife Spotting - Apart from the road down to the hotel everything else was lovely. Nice staff, clean accommodation, great wildlife seen in and around hotel. Osa is a must when visiting Costa Rica and this hotel covers all your needs.
- Dan (6/5): - Beautiful location, the air-condition worked great, the room was clean and the staff was fantastic. Breakfast was awesome. After a couple of days mattress hurt my lower back.
The room only had two beds and a night stand, that's it. No table, no desk, no chairs, no closet space, no refrigerator,
- Tina (4/5): No room for us, loud music and terrible mattresses - After a 5 hour drive to a remote location we arrived to find that we had been booked out. The hotel had accepted a group booking instead and no rooms were available. After much debating back and forth a room suddenly became available and we were given a suite. What we did not know was that the group in house was a Harley Davidson rally that took over the hotel, pool, restaurant and bar, and these areas were then closed off to any other guests. They were very nice, but played loud music all night and we got very little sleep. The hotel decor is a little dated, but OK for the price. The location on the beach is great. The mattresses are rock hard and very thin and after two nights with the loud music and bad mattresses we decided to move on and book somewhere else instead.
- Esteban (10/5): Nice hotel to relax - Great stay at this hotel, travelled with my wife and 2 five year old kids, and really enjoyed the clean room and the nice pool. This hotel is right in front of the beach, and the access to it is great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice stay at the Agua Dulce. The restaurant was great.
- Linda W. (8/5): Peaceful getaway. Very nice staff. - Yes, the road to get there is a bit bumpy but the long quiet beach is awesome. Saw scarlet macaws morning and evening.
- leroy (10/5): Very nice hotel. Nice pool and close to the ocean - The hotel was great! The staff was exceptional and the Italian restaurant was amazing!
- Leroy (10/5): Treasure near the ocean - Excellent hotel. Nice pool and close to the ocean. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The Italian restaurant was amazing! It was so enjoyable staying there.
- karen (8/5): Good - Stephanie at the front desk was nice and helpful. Restaurant above was very good Italian. We did a kayak tour that we liked.
- Cheryl (8/5): Close to beach - I liked that it was beach front with a pool. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - never agian
- hannia (10/5): - It's was my second time at this hotel. Very clean, great service, love the hotel location.
- Andres (6/5): Great place, a lot of potential - The hotel has a good location and the staff is nice. However the rooms have no TV and the adjacent rooms have no sound proof, so you can hear everything going on in the room next to you.
The toilets don´t flush properly.
If they can take care of those little details then the reviews will be much better.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Wonderful last night in costa rica. We were given an upgraded room simply because it was available (did not request this). Bar and restaurant on site, beautiful beach access and wonderful pool and hot tub. Saw am iguana on the grounds which was amazing! Staff was very pleasant and helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel on the beach - The hotel amenities were very nice (nicely appointed lobby, good restaurant, large, deep pool), but I found the rooms to be somewhat on the basic side.
- lee (6/5): Close to beach - Good stay when it's not as busy. Rooms are a bit dated and need some work. Paint was peeling off our walls in several places and there were ink stains on our blanket.
- Lorraine K (10/5): Loved it - Service was great! We were here for a few days and also enjoyed every meal! The beach is gorgeous!! Private with huge waves at high tide so be careful. The maids made up our beds really cute with heart shaped towels. A basic bedroom with a bathroom. Wasn't like your high end, luxury hotels but was quaint, clean and perfect for the Costa Rica setting. Forget your TVs and relax! Bikes to ride but it's a sandy trail. Kids rode, we walked. Beautiful birds, lots of iguanas and lizards to see around. Pool is lovely! Clean! Very relaxing. We like to hike and see things, so we drove around and found things to see and do. They have tour people and are helpful. We prefer not. We were all very pleased. Got an adjoining room with a refrigerator though to keep cold drinks which was very handy!
- Al (6/5): .Nice Pool, Bad Beach. - Hotel room was clean but very sparse with no amenities, ie fridge, tv, coffee maker or even cups or glasses. It seems to be designed that you must get everything from the restaurant which is a lot pricier than in town. The pool was very nice but crowded as the locals to come in off the beach to use it. I counted 28 people at the pool one morning and only 6 had hotel towels. I saw whole families coming in from the beach with their coolers. Not much else here as the beach is a mess and can only be used during low tide due to horrendous rip tides. The worst part is the 4K road from town which takes a good 25 minutes to navigate with a 4x4 vehicle. Huge pot holes. Risk vehicle damage.
- Chris (8/5): Nice hotel on the beach - Agua Dulce was a nice spot. The room was good and clean, no complaints other than the weak A/C. The beach wasn't cleaned up and had some litter around. It is a steep beach with waves that break right into the shore, so no body nor board surfing to be had. The swells are quite small though and so once you're out, it is calm to float around.
The restaurant was good, with good food at reasonable CR prices.
There were lots of ticos families there and it was nice to be somewhere it isn't all gringos.
The one drawback was the public aspect of the beach, with people driving in and around in trucks, motorcycles and ATVs. It was New Year's eve and so maybe this was out of the normal, but it detracted from the experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location on the beach - The hotel is 4km away from down town Puerto Jimenez on an un paved road. It is located on a beautiful long stretch of a beach. The rooms are ok with air conditioning !! That was a big plus for us. The restaurant is nicely located overseeing the pool and the beach, the food is decent with good prices. Don't expect quick service. The staff was very nice , and speaking Spanish is an advantage - we enjoyed our stay, very pura vida (relaxed)
- Tom (6/5): Private Hotel on the Beach - The property is situated on the beach and it is a beautiful tropical beach. The one regret was that during high tide, it was way too rough to swim. Pool on the property was very nice. The best surprise was the restaurant for lunch and dinner. The food was some of the best I've had anywhere in Costa Rica. The restaurant was 5 star, except for the atmosphere which is Costa Rican casual. The room was ok but small and the bed was very hard.
- Sara (8/5): Highly recommend!!! - I stayed at Agua Dulce for 4 nights and was very pleased by the experience. The hotel grounds are not big which gave it a very comfortable feel. It felt as though you were there among neighbors. People said hello as you walked past.
Sitting at the pool you could see and hear the ocean. Every evening I would walk down the endless black sand beach.
The food in the restaurant attached to the hotel was very good. A little pricey but as were most restaurants in Costa Rica
The front desk was able to organize a tour for me into Corcovado Park which was amazing!! Definitely the highlight of my stay in Costa Rica.
I also can't say enough about the management at the hotel. The owner was on site and always available if I needed anything at all. As well asgreat tips for places to see not just in the Osa Peninsula but other spots on my drive through CR.
Raoul was lovely to talk to about travel and tourism in CR. And made sure he was there to see me checkout and wish me say travels.
Delightful experience at Agua Dulce!!!
- D (8/5): Close to beach - Staff wonderful, iguana surround, great restaurant
- Dona (10/5): Ocean and Macaws! - This place is a gem for an affordable price! Aleandro at the front desk is informative and fun! It is right on the beach. The food is pricey, but all Costa Rica is like this. Breakfast is fantastic!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We experienced very good help from the staff. We needed a late checkout, which was happily accommodated. Also, we had to communicate with a tour organization in Puerto Jimenez and while a phone message wasn't brought to our attention right away, we were allowed to use a phone (for free) to speak with this tour operator.
- Diane (6/5): Nice pool and beach, hard to find - You will have to travel over bone-crunching unpaved roads to get here. We booked an oceanfront room, which was closest to the ocean but had the only access road to the hotel running in front of the rooms. The bedroom and living room were average. The bathroom was enormous with a double jetted tub and separate shower. A/C was insufficient to cool the whole suite. The pool was large and very nice. Breakfast was good. Other food in the restaurant was too expensive---$12 for minestrone, $24 for pasta?
- Thomas (6/5): Not bad, not great - My girlfriend and I came here since it was rated highly on T.A. The staff was friendly and the service was satisfactory, but the rooms are just kinda ho hum. They were clean and the beds were comfy, but there wasn't any hot water which is fine, but we weren't aware of it until we tried to take a shower. The pool is nice and large, although the swim up bar was out of commission during our stay.
One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is a 20 minute drive from the town of Puerto Jimenez down one of the worst roads i've driven on in C.R which makes leaving the hotel grounds feel like a chore. The included breakfast at the restaurant had 5 or 6 options and was satisfying. There are definitely a few quirks to the restaurant which i'll address in a review of the restaurant.
Like my title states, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great. It was just average. If i was to visit this area again I would look around for another option.
- Jen (2/5): Worst Hotel Experience in Costa Rica all around - Stayed 3 nights--Garden room. Gave us a room that was not renovated even though renovated rooms were available. Room had holes in the wall. No TV. No head board. Room was too small for 3 adults. Bathroom shower was dirty and did not drain water well--water ran to edges and not to drain. No light in shower. No light over mirror--could not even shave as so dark. Ceiling had cracks and was missing paint. Blinds in room were sheer, were not black out blinds, and did not give privacy. Wireless internet did not work well in room--might as well not have. Wall AC unit did work very well. Outside of room was dark at nighttime. Housekeeping did not come to room one time over 3 night stay even though they were on property and seen cleaning the outside of the buildings. Towels were old and torn--no hand towels . Restaurant is separate from hotel, only took cash, did not speak English well, did not have change even though only took cash. Hotel staff not helpful and not willing to help with getting change for restaurant. Pool was nice but after 3 days water was very dirty. Hotel is very far away time-wise from city of Puerto Jimenez---road to hotel is dirt with potholes, was only 4 miles, but took over 35 minutes to get to city. So driving to and from the city takes over one hour to go 8 miles. Hotel is deserted and you definitely need a SUV to get to hotel safely. Beach is close and is beautiful, but hotel staff told us not to go in the water as it was too dangerous.
- Michael (10/5): The Best Rest and Relaxation - Agua Dolce is the most relaxing hotel I've stayed at. If you want to get away and unwind go to Agua Dolce. You fall asleep to the sound of waves rolling in. Swimming at the beach was fantastic. The staff is great. Very friendly and helpful. I left wanting to stay. It lingers in my memory. Simple beauty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place to stay in Puerto Jimenez. Great pool and beach. The staff was very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Incredible location and great service - The hotel is located just in front the beach and it's all surrounded by nature. The only Con would be that to get to there you have to drive 20min from town on a dirt track. 4WD recommended but not necessary.
- Mike (10/5): Very nice hotel on the beach - My family and I just came back and we had a wonderful experience at Agua Dulce. The hotel is on the beach, the rooms were clean and air conditioned and the staff were fantastic. We stayed at a few different hotel properties throughout Costa Rica and the overall value and experience at this particular hotel was great!! Carlos was one of managers on duty and he was very professional and looked after us like we were family. Hayner was our bartender and instantly became our friend showing us around Puerto Jimenez and the like. The location of the property, 6km out of town accessed along a dirt road, opens to paradise upon arrival once you see and feel the setting of where it is located.
- Some dude (10/5): Nice Place to Visit - A nice place to visit for relaxation. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was good. The pool was nice. The beach was pretty with moderate waves which allowed for swimming. It is 4km from Puerto Jimenez so plan accordingly. The room was large and clean but my wife didn't care for the mattress.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Paradise way out on Osa Peninsula - This is a really great place. Relative luxury in an otherwise way off the beaten track area. Service was excellent, place was great except one of the door locks never functioned correctly the whole 6 day stay, despite me raising this issue. I have to say, it felt like the kind of place you don't need to lock your doors, but obviously, you want to be able to. I heard one other guest had plumbing back up, and way out in the boonies, the power would go out for this area an hour or two every few days. Emergency generators in the dining area made sure the bar and restaurant never closed.
This was a good location for trips out to boat rides, national parks, etc. Road is paved to Puerto Jimenez, but then bumpy dirt road about a mile to the hotel. You don't need a 4WD for that, but to get to the national park, you do--or else an appetite for a really bumpy "taxi collective," which is really similar to an army troop transport truck; either way, an adventure for the adventurous! We took tours from the town, because the tours through the hotel were pretty expensive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful and remote spot right on the ocean - Our experience here was memorable. This facility isn't far from Puerto Jiménez (10$ cab ride), but just far enough that you can observe and interact with all sorts of wild life. The room was very clean and big and included a Jacuzzi tub. We had a patio deck outside the room where we could enjoy the ocean view. They also had bicycles that they lend out which made for some great bike rides. The beach is practically deserted and very well preserved in its natural state...awesome. Mike (one of the owners), Harry and the rest of the staff were most hospitable and made us feel very welcomed.
- Bill (10/5): Beautiful Location - The rooms are great and spacious. We had a view of the ocean from our patio. It is about 10 minutes from town over a bumpy road but you get use to the road conditions in Costa Rica so this wasn't unusual. If you like birds, just get up at sunrise and you will see all kinds of wildlife within walking distance of the hotel. Hiking Corcovado NP takes a lot of planning and walking so we hiked a trail called Bolina which is at Dos Brazos. It costs $4 and you don't need a guide. It has some steep hills so you need to be in decent shape. I'm 60 and I made it OK. Another good birding spot is at the soccer park in downtown Jimenez. So staying at Agua Dulce allows you to relax at a great hotel but close enough to see lots of wildlife. The food was a little high in price but good. The breakfast is free and is excellent. The staff are all very friendly and speak good english. The area is safe or at least appeared too. I would recommend this as a place to stay.
- James (8/5): Great place to stay - Hotel Agua Dulce is a refreshing getaway in Southern Costa Rica. The staff is friendly and efficient. The restaurant has excellent food and is open all day and most of the evening. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It's right on the beach and if you don't like that there are plenty of other activities to do in the area. My thanks goes to Chris who can set you up with any of the other activities.
- John Buford (8/5): Everything self-contained - Google and GPS directions were easy to follow. Roads were excellent. We received immediate and friendly check-in and found our rooms everything we expected them to be. The surroundings are beautiful, including sunrise on the beachfront. The restaurant is very good, if a little high in price. Other restaurants are available in Puerto Jimenez, 15 minutes away. Breakfast, included, was superb. The only downside was that beds, as we have found throughout Costa Rica, were hard.
- Verified traveler (6/5): 3 star hotel - If you want to visit the Osa Peninsula this would be a good, comfortable place to stay.
Pros:
-Beautiful location. They have parrots flying wild on the property.
-Property is well maintained (Note the beach is rough and 'raw'-Lots of debris on the beach and rocks in the water - bring water shoes).
-Staff is pleasant and works hard (except for the receptionist-she probably shouldn’t be working there).
-Rooms are large and fairly clean.
-Breakfast was very good.
Cons:
-Toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet-must use waste basket.
-Bugs in the rooms. Every night before bed we had to remove at least 2-3 lizards from the room each day - not sure where they were coming in from. There were also large ants in the rooms. This is the jungle so I guess this is sort of expected.
-Didn’t like the 'cool white' florescent lighting in the rooms.
-Beds are terrible. The mattresses were very hard and the legs were falling off. Other Expedia guests had made this comment before and the manager 'Chris' replied by saying "we have recently purchased new pillow top mattresses and installed them in each of our Beachfront and Poolside Suites". This is simply not true. We stayed in one of those rooms a while after the post was made and there was no pillow top mattress our room.
-No safe in the room or place to lock up your stuff. We had a knife and another small thing taken by the cleaning staff. We assumed this was an honest mistake.
-No phone in room.
-No TV in room.
- Jay (8/5): Relaxing oasis - Friendly and helpful staff, excluded locale, great food and beautiful scenery made a great vacation. However, the beds were hard, the linen rough and the water pressure lacking. I would definitely go back though.
- krislaurel (10/5): Special place. - We really loved Agua Dulce beach resort, the pool is beautiful , the staff are excellent and very friendly while being professional. The restaurant, which has a fine view of the surrounding trees with Scarlet Macaws regularly visiting, serves very good food. Our room was extremely comfortable and we loved walking the amazing, nearby beach.
- Rosalita (8/5): Can't Beat it for the Price! - Location was great, morning sunrises spectacular! Had issue with first room, but management took care of it. Breakfasts included, and were terrific.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great stay - Great place on a great deserted beach. Scarlet macaws all around hotel and surrounding area. Very nice clean pool with great seating around pool. Very quiet and relaxing stay with good breakfast included. Meals were very good and service was great. Rooms had nice decks and were very clean with cold a/c and lots of hot water. Large sliding windows with screens facing ocean and gardens.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great R&R experience - Good food, lovely staff, on the beach with inviting pool.
- Steven (8/5): Excellent option to spend time and rest - My wife and i took a taxi from Puerto Jimenez Airport to the hotel, the ride was very fast, just 4km, the hotel is very nice, the restaurant and his food is 100% recommended, you will have a nice ocean view, the staff are friendly and professional, you really feels like in home
- Verified traveler (6/5): if you have a vehicle, its great hotel - Nice pool. far from the center. Expensive food at hotel
Very helpful if you have a vehicle
- Tal (10/5): LOVED IT! - A beautiful secluded location with a beautiful beach. Nice swimming pool.
