Guest Reviews
- keisha (10/5): - Wonderful and welcoming staff
- Margaret (10/5): - Our flight home from Split was rescheduled for the following day INVOLUNTARILY! A big inconvenience and a day of lost work. However, we were able to schedule at Hotel Riva and check in early! Our first interaction with staff was incredibly professional, understanding and kind. Everyone we encountered could not have been nicer!
Our room was conveniently located on a floor that we did not have to use stairs; it was spotless, very large, comfortable and had an attached outdoor deck with view of the sea. Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, excellent room! Would stay again!
- Vivienne (10/5): - Such a lovely quaint little hotel and very conveniently placed for travel to Split Airport and Ferry Port. Yet also just far enough out of the city to be so peaceful and quiet. The area has nice walks and cycle trails, easy access into Split. Options for a sea swim right outside the hotel. Great views from the balcony rooms and a very reasonable price too.
- Richard (8/5): Great Location - Great location, friendly staff, clean and modern rooms.
- Michael (6/5): - Breakfast perfect. Pool okay
- Antonella (10/5): Excellent beachfront location that is peaceful - We had a very pleasant stay at Riva Hotel in Kaštel, Split. The hotel is in a fantastic beachfront location, offering an excellent sea view straight from the room — perfect for relaxing at any time of the day. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout, making the experience even smoother. In terms of location, it’s not only right by the beach but also conveniently close to Split Airport and very close to Trogir, which made sightseeing easy. The resort area itself is peaceful and quiet, which was perfect for us as we did not want to stay in the busier Split — where there also seem to be quite a few derelict buildings. An added bonus is the ample-sized free car park, which is especially convenient if you’re travelling by car.
Overall, it offers very good value for money — a comfortable stay with beautiful views, excellent service, and easy access. This is ideal for anyone looking for a low-key holiday with easy access to the beach, Trogir, Split, or the airport. We would definitely recommend it.
- Sarah (10/5): - Sweet little hotel with small pool right near the sea. Friendly staff and in walking distance to a couple of restaurants. We had a lovely large balcony.
- Mary (10/5): NICE - Nice room, very clean close to the beach nice neighborhood great restaurants walking distance
- Lisa (10/5): - Amazing!!
- Thaddeus (10/5): - Friendly, great breakfast no complaints, thanks
- Katherine (10/5): - Comfortable, large, clean and modern rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful. Close to the airport and right on the beach.
- Geoffrey Robert (8/5): - Good beds and excellent staff. availability of pool towels for the beach was a plus. good self serve breakfast with many options. the only downside was the lack of a view from the outdoor patio of our room which was on the side of the hotel. the booking led us to believe there would be a water view. Parking was also a bit tricky, though typical for Europe.
- Parthasarathi (8/5): - Room was very small. Large balcony but not enough space inside the room. Otherwise it was a comfortable stay
- Christopher (8/5): - Pros: great breakfast, nice pool (small), easy beach access, many restaurants to choose from, close enough to split, charming towns and coastal walk, friendly staff.
Cons: the room we reserved was no longer available which changed our sleeping accommodations, no safe in the room, no laundry service while we stayed, Ubers to Split run you at least €20, some of the local restraints have sub-par service and don’t seem to like tourists, parts of the area—not along the coast—are still very much up and coming.
- Hilda (10/5): - Great, quiet location steps from the water!
- Maria Riitta (10/5): - Beautiful overnight stay! The hotel and staff are amazing. Breakfast buffet was tasty with plenty of options. I wish we could’ve stayed more than one night!
- Richard (10/5): - Great location and view. Rooms were clean with a good size shower. Staff members were friendly and helpful
- R (10/5): - Great hotel with a pool, over a quiet road from the beach. Lovely pretty village a short stroll away.
- Aidan (10/5): - Lovely long weekend stay, close to the water and lover Riva walks. professional friendly hotel.
- Divina (6/5): - Mary is very nice when I checked in the hotel. She also so nice when I made a request for hot chocolate late night when I came from a whole day tour. I stayed there for 8 nights but the cleaning ladies only changed my bedsheets twice and they did not put toilet papers so I have to ask when I came late night after my whole day tour.
- Susan (10/5): - Hotel Is very comfortable and clean. This was the second time staying at Hotel Riva and would highly recommend the hotel.
- Russell (10/5): - A queen or king room was ordered. The room received had two small twin beds. No hot water. After 5 minutes of waiting had to take a cold shower.
The desk people were friendly and accommodating with check in, directions and transportation.
- Thomas (10/5): Nice hotel - Very nice hotel. Friendly stagg an perfect location at the beach.
- Honor (10/5): - Great hotel! Comfortable beds, good location
- Naveen (2/5): - Air conditioning did NOT work.
Bed sheets were not changed.
There was a cockroach in the bathroom.
Noises all night.
- Travers (10/5): - Great property with less than a minute walk to a great beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend to friends and family and will likely be back in future!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not great - Air conditioning did not work so room was roasting! No towels in bathroom. Room itself not bad but did not have any sea view.
- Scott (10/5): Great hotel in a great location!! - Lovely wee hotel in an awesome location! Lovely staff throughout - always happy to help! Extremely clean too - which you’d expect from a 4 star hotel but don’t always see!!
Only very minor negative mentioning to management would be that although breakfast is lovely with plenty on offer, perhaps a little change on options from day to day would make it even better!!
- Margarita (10/5): - Beautiful clean hotel with contemporary spacious rooms. Absolutely friendly staff! Beach right in front of it.
- Kieran (10/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Shout out to Ita and Antonia. About a 20 minute to Old Town.
- Anna (10/5): - Very friendly, very clean , great location - all good
- Aryan (4/5): Not a hotel i would recommend - Wouldnt recommend this hotel. We lost 450 euro in the hotel. They promised to check their cameras and call us back which they never did. Broken airco in the room. They dont clean the rooms, they just give new towels. Very bad breakfast.
- Melissa (8/5): - Property was newly rennovated and very comfortable to stay in. It is in a great quiet location right in between split city center and Trogir, about 15 -20 minutes drive from both. There is a lovely waterfront beach right across the street. The staff were very friendly and helpful in accommodating all of our needs, the breakfast that wasn't included was also very enjoyable and included a wide variety of food and drinks. Small suggestion is just for there to be an extra garbage can in the room outside of the washroom.
- Lindsey (10/5): - Very nice quiet boutique hotel. Friendly staff, good AC and a quick walk to great food and the sea. Wish we would have booked an extra day
- Lasheta (8/5): - The hotel was very cute and clean. It is just steps from the beach but not in the touristy part of town. We booked that hotel for our last night there solely for the proximity to the airport, an 11min drive. It was also a plus that they had a few restaurant choices within walking distance.
- Marissa (4/5): - The AC did not work and we were miserable. Make sure the AC is working before booking.
- Reid (10/5): - Nice room, on the water convenient to the beach with a nice pool. Close to the airport.
- John (2/5): - Awful condition
- Ashley (10/5): - Amazing location, had some issues with the A/C which were fixed by staff after a couple hours and hot water took a long time to warm up but otherwise was a nice and comfortable stay with friendly service.
- Jameelah (4/5): - There were ants in our room and the air was not working. The temp was 29.5 degrees Celsius/85 degrees Fahrenheit in the room
- tylerv555 (10/5): Trip of a Lifetime - Let me start by saying on the first night, I got engaged on our balcony at sunset!!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THE SEA VIEW! I must give props to Iva at the front desk who helped us get around when our luggage didn't arrive from the states for two days!! The hotel is amazing and all the front desk and restaurant staff were so sweet.
- Michael (10/5): - Very picturesque location, close to beach and restaurants. Staff was very efficient and helpful. Room was in good condition.
- Marilyn (8/5): By the sea - Great hotel right next to a very rocky beach, promenade and bike rentals. Nicely updated, plenty of parking. Short walk to a nice beach bar/ restaurant called Be Cool open early till midnight.
Hotel breakfast was mediocre
Wonderful friendly staff
My room was large with a terrace overlooking the sea
- Elizabeth (8/5): Nice Hotel. Very Nice Staff. Great location! - Very clean.
Receptionist was extremely nice and helpful.
Beds and bedding not so comfortable and air conditioning hard to regulate….which is often the case in hotels I guess.
Excellent location for the beach.
- RICHARD (10/5): Hotel Riva-great location - Great location, lovely staff, clean rooms and nice pool.
- Olivia (10/5): - Immaculately clean and modern room with a beautiful view of the sea. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful too
- Jan (10/5): Everything was as expected - Close to the airport and almost on the beach, free parking And breakfast.
Rooms are better three stars quality, staff is friendly
- Yohana (10/5): - Beautiful property and ocean view.
Breakfast was excellent, friendly staff.
Thank you, Team Riva.
- kevin (10/5): Hotel Riva - Great hotel, great staff all super helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent staff support for a very nice hotel situated on the Split Riviera.
- Shelley (10/5): - The rooms are very nice and the hotel is quiet. The staff were excellent and very helpful!
- Shebbinch (10/5): Perfect location - Pool is a little small but it doesn’t get that busy so it’s not a huge issue. It’s literally a 30 second walk from the beach. Loads of supermarkets, restaurants and bars around. The next few towns along are not far and it’s a lovely, scenic walk with loads to do and see. Overall this hotel is in a great location.
Had an issue with the room booking but the staff sorted it straight away. The house keeping staff are really friendly.
Rooms are really nice and clean. The views from the balconies are stunning. The fridge in the room is really handy too! Rooms also have aircon and netting on the window so you can leave it open at night which was great.
Breakfast isn’t bad at all. Good selection of food to choose from.
Would definitely recommend this hotel. Good value and good location!
- Iain (10/5): Great little hotel - Really lovely little hotel in a really beautiful spot. Comfiest beds ever!
Watch out for the hotels.com directions as they dont point to the right place tho
- Eleanor (10/5): Great location! - Amazing location close to beach and good transport links to split, trogir and the airport. The staff were lovely and helpful. Had an issue in the room that the resolved immediately. Cleaners were really friendly too! Incredible views from the balcony. The pool didn’t get really busy which was nice. The whole hotel was very clean. Nice stay in a lovely place!
- Davendrakumar (10/5): - Staff were welcoming and helpful and swimming pool was nice.
Hotel room was on 1sr floor and you could hear any noise from outside the room. Walk to Kastela was lovely and nice restaurants around 15 mins away
- Adrian (10/5): - Great experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing location; close to the airport and Marina.
- Scott (10/5): My new favorite hotel in the world - What a spectacular gem of a hotel and world class staff! The entire experience at Villa Zarko was very good. I felt welcome and accommodated by all members of staff & the location is beautiful.
- juliagV9324NN (10/5): Cozy Stay - Stayed here for 1 night as a nice half way point between Split Airport and Split. The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The bed was very large and comfortable. The room was quiet. The breakfast had the necessities (omelettes, sausages, vegetable skewers, yogurt, fruits, smoothies, pastries, etc.). We were allowed to store our luggage on check out day as we waited for our transfer. We had no complaints - highly recommend.
- Edith (10/5): - Suggest they solve the noise at the pool- it spoils the vibe.
Staff are amazing
I will be back
- Leah (10/5): - Clean and spacious rooms, wonderful staff, great breakfast.
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful property and excellent service!
- Samantha (6/5): - We booked last minute and saw there was a swimming pool and it was more expensive and looked more luxury so we said lets do it.
Then it did not live up to our expectations
The staff were definitely very friendly and genuinely helpful
But swimminv pool not in use very disappointing as this was what sold us.
In comparisons the night before 5 mins down the road we had the best sea front view from the hotel restaurant out front
Outstanding breakfast super helpful and friendly
Plus a lot cheaper
- Irina (10/5): - Everything was wonderful, including breakfast!
- John (10/5): - Loved the room, views and the staff was wonderful!
- Sonya1966 (10/5): Great boutique hotel - We were a group of 11 friends and family staying 5 nights at Villa Zarko. There was a small hiccup with a couple of originally booked room types not being available on the first night, but it was soon rectified the next day. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely each morning and as we were leaving early on our last day, staff even started breakfast 30 minutes earlier to accommodate for us. Hotel is in a great, quiet location right across the road from a quiet beach. Supermarket and several restaurants in walking distance. Would highly recommend.
- Ian (10/5): reat accommodation - Great find in a lovely location couldn’t fault the place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a wonderful treasure this Hotel is! We had a group of 11, so staying in this smaller hotel was perfect. The staff (and I wish I could remember everyone's names!) were incredible, hospitable and very accommodating. Breakfast was a wonderful variety, and sitting oceanfront in the bar at night time was a perfect way to end the day!
The hotel is in a great location - close enough to easily get to Split by Uber or bus, but far enough away to escape the crowds and enjoy some oceanside quiet. There are great restaurants and bars in walking distance, particularly Baletna Skola.
I highly recommend this hotel, particularly for the wonderful staff and gorgeous location!
- Angela (10/5): - Great property to stay at. Close to the airport. Nice pool and terrace area and close access to beaches. Hotel staff are helpful and friendly. Rooms and facilities are clean and have everything you need.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is located in the Kastela settlement of Luksic. The sea is directly across the sea. The views are breathtaking. Personnel at the hotel are top notch -- knowledgeable and friendly. We'd go back!
- W757OLjuliel (10/5): Superb - Thoroughly enjoyed stay at Villa Zarko.Hotel located just across road from the beach/sea. Staff at this small hotel were absolutely delightful,Božidar and all of the staff were just so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They surpassed all expectations, willingly giving advice about any proposed visits/ trips. The hotel did not serve evening meals but once again the staff were very helpful regarding nearby restaurants and cafes. They also had takeaway menus available, would order meals for you and even provide cutlery and place in the dining room for you to eat it - couldn't have asked for more!
Bedroom was a good size and cleaned daily.Substantial breakfast with omelettes available.Swimming pool area kept spotlessly clean at all times.A lovely, quiet, relaxing holiday helped by the wonderful weather.
- 681myriamr (10/5): Beautiful location - This was a wonderful hotel right across from the beach with beautiful views from our room with a balcony. The staff is super friendly and a wonderful breakfast is served daily. There’s a restaurant about a 15 minute walk for dinner or or a late lunch. I would stay again if I’m ever able to visit Croatia again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is perfect! Steps from the sea and breathtaking views!
- RSpicer79 (10/5): Lovely stop over for flight - We chose this place for access to the airport after travelling around the islands for 3 weeks. Very good location on the seafront and a nice little pool that the kids enjoyed. Staff were very friendly, free pool towels and breakfast was nice. Would recommend. Only issue was the sea was less nice than other places we had stayed. Not the hotels fault though.
- Travellingblondie02 (10/5): Loved the place and location - Amazing hotel!!! Staff were lovely, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The location was very nice and peaceful. The beach is very close and also an amazing view of the sea. It is approximately half an hour away from the Split City Centre, it is well worth it to stay here. It’s also easy to catch the bus if there is desire to go explore the entertainment in Split.
- James (10/5): - Fabulous location with a parking lot. Only issue was an odd smell in the otherwise clean room. Great breakfast, pool, and staff.
- Shaun_Mowgli (10/5): A jewel on the Adriatic coast - This is a delightful hotel and I highly recommend for a wonderful stay. The actual area is quite quiet and peaceful which is exactly what I was after, however, its only a short distance to Split and many other areas for day or evenings out. The local beach is ok but there are better ones a short drive away. The hotel has good parking area for those hiring a car. Outside the hotel has a really clean and beautiful pool. It is only small but perfect for cooling off if you're using this area rather than heading to the beach etc... There's also a nice terrace area for drinks throughout the day and night. For those looking to embrace some fitness whilst on holiday there is a pretty decent gym with free weights and an eclectic mix of machines and a sauna (additional cost). The hotel can also arrange for either sports or relaxing massage. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The views from some rooms are simply spectacular. There's wi-fi throughout the hotel but the area as a whole has a slow connection at busy times.
Breakfast at the hotel is delicious, especially the eggs!
The staff are simply amazing. The are always so helpful and friendly. They really make you feel welcome every moment you are there. The owner of the hotel is there everyday still working. His passion for the hotel and the comfort of his guests is clearly visible and quite touching.
I would happily return her to stay again in the future.
- steviepmusic (10/5): Worth every penny - We found ourselves needing a nights stay after a cancelled flight. The team here were fantastic, they couldn’t help us enough and most of all they didn’t take advantage of our ‘last minute’ situation.
The accommodation, food and facilities were perfect for what we needed. And, the location was within walking distance of the beach and several great restaurants.
Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was really nice and helpful and efficient place was clean and easy
- Rumble94 (6/5): July 2019 Visit - Room clean and comfortable. Bathroom a bit small but only there for one night. No screen on window and mosquitoes made there way in! Breakfast buffet on patio overlooking the sea an absolute delight. Our room faced the back and while not hotel staff issue a dog barked the absolute entire night. Felt bad for the dog. Nice location between Old Town in Split and needing to get to Trogir next day.
- russanles (10/5): Picked at random from booking.com for a hotel close to Split Airport and got lucky - A great little hotel. Staff are what makes this hotel exceptional. All were so friendly and helpful and though not essential spoke perfect English. The room we stayed in was spotless and had a great balcony and sea view(Room 103). The Air Con worked perfectly and for the week we were there was essential. Though not vital to me the Wi Fi worked perfectly if this is essential to you. The buffet breakfast was more than enough to set you up for the day and the coffee was proper coffee! Although the hotel does not serve dinner they did recommend two restaraunts which we used. One 10 minutes to the left the other 10 minutes to the right and both were very good and reasonably priced. There are also a couple of fast food places in the village which is a short five minutes walk away(Pizzas burgers etc) so you wont etc you starve. There is a nice pool at the hotel which we used a couple of times and the beaches are 20 yards away if you prefer swimming in the sea. Take jelly shoes as the beaches are the norm in Croatia. ie Rocky. Hotel will provide beach towels if you ask. We used the hotels local taxi driver for airport transfers and found them extremely pleasant and reliable and cheaper than Rideways quoted me or jumping in a cab at the airport. In summary I would say that if you are considering a short break in the Split area to visit Split,Trogir Krka falls etc you could do a lot worse than basing yourself at this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a our second visit here and as last time the staff were most welcoming and friendly. Despite the owners deciding not to run the resteraunt, this little hotel remains one of our favourite. Its location as a base for traveling around Croatia is second to none.
- A4030BAgeorgec (10/5): Great hotel - Stayed a week in April, Hotel was in a great location ( if you like it quiet ) lovely views of the sea , room was roomy and very clean
The staff were exceptionally nice and so helpfull , we went out of season so we cannot rate the restaurant but breakfast was good with a reasonable selection
There were plenty of restaurants nearby as well as selection of coffee shops and bars
If you want a wild time , this place is not for you ,but if you want a well run hotel in a nice place with good views , it is perfect
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hotel - So convenient. Close to the airport. Very friendly staff.
- review269 (10/5): Great location and staff - Having used this hotel as a base for photographing the Dalmatian Coast we can definitely recommend Villa Zarko. Communication prior to our arrival had been incredibly professional thanks to Bozidar and from the moment we arrived the staff were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful. The rooms are comfortable and quiet and the hotel is located on the seafront where a new promenade is being completed. It's an easy drive into both Split and Trogir and the laid back and quaint local village is only a short walk with numerous bars. Breakfast was a buffet with a great selection of both cooked and cold meats, fresh fruit, crepes and pastries. If you tire of swimming in the sea which is only yards from the hotel the pool is adequate with comfortable sun loungers. Thanks again to all the warm and friendly staff who made our stay. The only downside was checking out, we didn't want to leave!!!
- 809emmae (8/5): Lovely hotel and surrounding area - Lovely hotel, very clean with everything you need.
The staff are fabulous and extremely helpful and there to give you lots of help and advice.
There are not many restaurants within walking distance and hiring a car would be favourable.
The pebble beach is within 20 meters of the hotel, the beach is very clean and the sea is beautiful and clear.
The sea front was being developed while we were there and will be lovely when completed.
I would definitely recommend this friendly hotel and we will definitely be returning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The receptionist was very helpful in arranging a driver to take us to Kraj park at the last minute. The airport was only 10 minutes away so very convenient for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were excellent. We had a 5 week old baby with us and were very accommodating to the family.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Near to sea very nice staff nice balcony nice villages near by
- samponton (10/5): nice room, beautiful view, quiet neighborhood - We stayed here 3 nights in April. The neighborhood is quiet and residential. There is a restaurant about 10-15 minute walk from the hotel that the staff recommended. The room was modern and we had a very nice little porch to look at the sea. Parking is free and very convenient - right in front of the building. The staff was very helpful and found a winery visit connection for me. All staff speak excellent English and are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was included and was great, including an omelette to order plus a large typical European breakfast. This is a nice neighborhood to stay in to visit Trogir and also Split area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hidden treasure! With 16 rooms this little hotel has everything one could want right in the beautiful coast. It’s comfort and cleanliness only surpassed by the helpful, friendly staff. Gym, restaurant, near airport, balconies with ocean view, spacious room with comfortable bed, clean bathroom also spacious. What more could you want from a boutique hotel?!
- Onkspakko (8/5): Dad's birthday - We stayd 1 week in Villa Zarko. It was very nice and clean hotel in peaceful area. Staff was very friendly. Espesially man at reseption gave us always very good tips to our daily trips. Only thing i missed, was some fresh vegetables at breakfast.
Suosittelen omaa rauhaa kaipaaville!
- saku1 (8/5): Very nice - Visited with kids: 1 and 3yrs. Really nice hotel in a quiet area. Superb staff. Good breakfast. Right next to a pebble beach, though the staff told us that the beach might be changed to a sand one in the future.
Only problem was that the ac randomly turned off and it had to be turned back on at the reception. The fuse kept blowing or something.
We rented a car and visitrd Split center many times, Krka waterfalls, Trogir etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - New clean property with excellent service. Kind of a bit difficult to locate it because of very narrow roads but ultimately one would love because of marina.
- nt619 (8/5): Good place to stay - This is about 30 minutes from the main town of Split (where the water front is and the palace ruins), but if you have a car or transportation it's good place to stay. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. Parking was free. Decent breakfast in the morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff - but need hotter water and better shower pressure. Stocked mini bar would be good also.
- François (10/5): A+ service and very friendly - We had a lovely stay with a great sea view and delicious breakfast
- Steve (10/5): - We had a brilliant stay. The staff were great. Although they didnt do food, there's a great restaurant 10 mins away. The local area and Croatia in general are beautiful and not nearly as developed as Spain
- Mandy (8/5): lovely hotel close to beach - We had a lovely room which spacious balcony and fabulous sea view
