• Peter (2/5): Hotel with club playing loud music as neighbor - Do you like cold water showers, dirty towels and being kept awake by the nextdoor club? Then this is the place for you. Complimentary you get two bottles of water and one of India's hardest beds. This is probably the most noisy place I've stayed in the whole of India. Usually I will fall asleep, but this felt like sleeping right next to a festival. It doesn't help that the towels have stains, the sheets have cigarette holes and there was no hot water to shower in. On the second night I was also awoken by people trying to get into my room for a couple of minutes. The only positive is its close proximity to the train station. I would recommend bringing some serious noise cancelling earplugs.

• Nirender (10/5): - I booked this for my parents . The staff were lovely and kind. Assisted them with printing their boarding passes . The hotel has lots of tuktuk drivers nearby and close to golden temple.
• Dhawal (2/5): - Reception was not friendly, didn’t feel like welcoming. Rooms looks very old, bathroom was very small and look’s dirty. Toothbrush and toothpaste not provided. You can get more better hotel for the pricing they charge.
• Mukhtiar (2/5): Serious renovations needed - 1. Entrance was through a lane way with cars and auto rickshaws parked on one side, making access by car difficult 2. Bathrooms were not hygienically clean and shower taps old and rusty. They are all in need of replacement. 3. Stayed at this property 15-20 years ago but it has deteriorated much and need renovations 4. Only lift was smelly and carpet need replacement

Food is awesome-- tasty, fresh, satisfying yet not heavy/filling. Bathroom has both hot and 'hot&cold mix' water. Overall, a good experience.

• Roy (8/5): Nice value hotel. - Nice value hotel in a quiet side street. It’s only R100 tuk tuk ride into the Golden Temple complex. Hotel staff were friendly and informative although you have to ask as they don’t bombard you with info as soon as you arrive. The room was large and bed comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. If you’ve travelled India you will appreciate that the hotels are not spotless as we come to expect in the West. If you can’t cope then stay at the Oberoi or Taj - I don’t think there are any in Amritsar. Anyway, you’ll enjoy the Hong Kong Inn and the Golden Temple is absolutely breathtaking.

• Sue (8/5): Close to Centre by tuk tuk. - The hotel room was large and comfortable. Good 24hr room service for food. Desk staff very helpful in arranging tuk tuks, tours and transfers to the airport. The area around the Golden Temple has been pedestrianised for the last 4 years and it really improves the experience of the visit. Loved the inclusiveness, generosity and friendliness of everyone at the temple also providing food and drink free (donations accepted) and lodgings too for weary travellers. Truly a beautiful, temporal place. Other places of worth but not advertised that well is a laser show showing the development and history of the site and the meanings behind the rituals which take place during the day. The night visit is a must as the lights all reflect off the central golden temple and water (the pool of nectar - meaning of Amritsar). Also the Partition Museum in part of the old town hall is excellent. It covers all the people affected by Partition following Independence in 1947.

A short walk to restaurants and the train station. We only stayed one night so we weren't involved with the staff much at all. They were nice enough to let us check in early.

• Madhukar (6/5): Clean and friendly hotel - A typical hotel for indian clientle based in a narrow alleyway off Queens Road. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel also provided a 15 % discount for local restaurant crystal, which is worth trying. The room was large enough but the bathroom was quite small. Breakfast had to be ordered from the room and bought to your room. There is no restaurant in this hotel. The hotel is quite a distance away from the golden temple and therefore not a walkable distance.

• Natalie (4/5): Nightmare for safety & no beds supplied for kids - We booked from Hotels.com 7 nights,we greeted family and inspected the room. We asked for Double bed and roll out single bed +cot.After kids napping on beds nothing came or fixed. Requested again and said only on availability, though I have confirmation email and another email direct from Hotel that this is available. Also on Hotel.com website was free cot, this also confirmed and then NOT AVAILABLE, and never had cots.Family of 4 (2 Adults and 2 children including toddler & baby). This is the worst hotel for families!! There was no way the adults could sleep in the room since the children could not have bedding supplied, and to make the first night in Amritsar more of a nightmare the door had only a button lock. The type of lock a child can open, and leave the room so I could not sleep when children napped. We could not stay, we booked Hotel Sawera Grand, we were jet lagged and needed to sleep and hotel argued it was only on availability, but never had cots. The new Hotel was much more expensive but none other were available. After family dinner with relatives that we can't stay nor sleep at your hotel since what was asked was not supplied,so an argument ensued where Hotel going on about policy and payment where we had not even stayed one night, but we are paying them for the night and want to go new hotel. We booked through Hotels.com, they said it came from Expedia- cancel online they said then get money back, hotels.com said won't get money back. All liars. Sham

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great experience but bedding not OK. - Overall great experience only one concern. I stayed this hotel with my family. Means 2 adults and 2 kids. That is reason, I requested for two single bed room which is generally sufficient for our family but when I arrived there, I was given single master bed and I had to request for additional bed for which I paid 750 Rs which was huge and unjustifiable Plus the extra bed was not good.. It was a normal folding with an old bedding and it was not looking hygienic and was very uncomfortable. This was the only concern but rest all was OK with Hotel. I will stay again in same hotel in future but will cross verify the kind of room and bedding they are giving.
