Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, wonderful staff! - This B&B was a really good find, and we loved our stay here. The location is great, and you can see Mayon from the balcony of some of the rooms.
We arrived not long after a typhoon had hit, and the manager had done everything possible to make our stay comfortable despite frequent powercuts, lack of internet, etc. She was so helpful, and so friendly.
When we came to leave for the airport, she helped us organise a car, and we were so grateful. I'd highly recommend staying here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast, close to the airport, good bar across the road and a view of the volcano.
- Davis (10/5): - This friendly B&B is located in the center of Daraga, a suburb of Legazpi. It’s within walking distance of nice restaurants and the colonial Daraga church. It’s on a busy highway, but the bedrooms are at the back and quiet (other than the roosters...).
Karin, the owner, is totally helpful and friendly. The bedrooms are simple but clean and cheerful. This place is a very good value for the modest price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Balay dela Rama doesn't have amenities and the place is small but the room is good enough and the staff are very nice and helpful. The uniqueness about this place is very near to tourist spot, Cagsawa Ruins, Sumlang Lake, Lignon Hill & Daraga. church. I'm happy staying in here for 3 nights.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner was very helpful. Gave great transportation and tourist advice.
- Chris (10/5): - Wonderful hosts. Great place ro stay. Good tapas breakfast. Easy access to transportation. .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The place is very accesible to the tourist spots that we went to but the best thing is that the staff were very accommodating.
- Raechelle (10/5): Home away from home - I love the place! I love the house layout and its location. We could see Mayon from the balcony. Karen and her staff were so accommodating. She even arranged our Albay tour. It was worth the money!
- armie (10/5): good value for money - good ambience, rooms is very clean. very close to tha airport and mall. good value for money
- Jure (8/5): nice stay at the Rama Rama Hare Hare - The place is good, also the helpful staff. Wifi was working most of the time. The bed is too soft and the position of aircon in Mayon room is not the best. Also there is no blanket, only a thin sheet to cover yourself.
While in the area, you must try the ATV tour, it's great! And there is a nice view of the magnificent Mayon vulcano from the Mayon room balcony.
- Osanne (10/5): Amazing b&b!!! - Karen and her team were so accommodating at Balay de la Rama. Had a wonderful experience. Karen did everything she could to make our stay comfortable and pleasant. She always made sure we were looked after.
The room was homey, AC strong, bathroom was equipped with soaps and washes. Her wonderful ratings live up to expectations!
Thank you for having us Karen, and your hospitality.
- Dante (10/5): Great B&B - Great B&B in Legazpi. Very clean and spacious. Close to sights. Best of all , great host .Karen is very kind, polite and very informative. Provided us with loads of info. Highly recommended!!!! Tip: tricycle from airport to this place should only cost 60-80 pesos!
- Chit R (10/5): Cozy B&B, easy access to all tourist spots - Enjoyed the warmth of staff, room clean (towels plush), good breakfast, accessible to major tourist attractions, reasonable rates
- mark (10/5): - our very first B n B and by far way better than the traditional hotels. truly a home away from home. i highly recommend this place. thanks to karen and staff for a wonderful experience
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel budget nice view near Mayon Volcano - With easy and accessible to all areas. Good location to stay.
- Zaida (10/5): Close to the airport and beautiful views of Mayon - Karen and her staff made my family and I feel very welcomed. It truly felt like home away from home. I loved the filipino breakfast in the morning. I looked forward to that delicious turon.
- Verified traveler (8/5): very accomodating staff... - Unlike other reviews, this B&B already has TV with Cable.
I have asked Karen (staff) to update their website because I think this place is worth of your money.
It is a home not a hotel but you will definitely have a relaxing stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place, center to tourist spots to see. - Staff are very friendly, accommodating, and helpful and very considerate to us and let us check in before the schedule and let us stay while waiting for the bus to arrive eventhough we check out already.
- Verified traveler (8/5): neat B and B - Karen and staff were friendly and helpful and even gave us top floor for the nite because it was still available even though they had to move us down second nite because of previous rent. Food was good and fresh cooked. On a well travelled road leading into Legazpi or east to scenic sights. cheap rides to airport or sights.
- Christopher (10/5): very good stay - great accessibility, budget friendly, good customer service
- Vikas (8/5): - It's a great value for money option. Karen tries her best.
- Aida M. E. (8/5): This BB Inn is homey wery clean . - We stayed here for five nights. The staff remained friendly, attentive and very professional throughout our stay. The owner Karen made sure that we were attended to very well. For the price, this inn is a treasure find. The view of Mt. Mayon volcano was truly perfect. Will be back there soon!
- Mel (10/5): Like Paradise! - Beautiful place! And the owner/manager Caren was very friendly, polite and helpful... 2 days before check-in, I told Caren that we'll be arrival Legaspi around midnight and that's way past the check-in deadline of 7pm. Caren confirmed to me via SMS that she'll wait for us. Around 10pm of the date of check-in, I told Caren that we'll be arriving close to 2am. When we arrived, Caren was up and she helped us with our luggage and she gave us a brief orientation of the facilities of the place and what to do in Legaspi. Breakfast was also good.
- Darryl (10/5): Hidden Gem in Legazpi - Legazpi is a relatively tiny town in the central Philippines, serving as a jumping off point for nearby adventures to volcanoes, city ruins and the sea for whale shark watching. This family-run BnB was perfect for our short stay -- well-appointed rooms, cool A/C, close to everything and a fantastic view of the Mayon Volcano from the balcony (on clear days).
You couldn't ask for anything more from a BnB that doesn't want to be like the chain hotels; it fit the bill most perfectly! Would recommend to family and friends traveling to the area. And of course, we'd stay there again.
- Paul Larry (10/5): Good homestay like hotel with a view of Mt Mayon. - The cosiness of the place plus the friendliness of the owner and staff made us much at home. The breakfast was wholesome and the free flow of coffee and tea was most welcomed. Although the location of food is 600 m away in the nearest town a zeepney or tricycle as always available at only 8 pesos per head. Mt Mayon can be seen from our balcony at the second floor. The surrounding village makes this place like a homestay.
- edward (10/5): A nice to stay on a vacation or business trip. - A pleasant stay on the place. I am very satisfied with all our needs. If ever I go back to Legaspi, I will surely call them or contact expedia for my reservation.
- DENNIS (4/5): Nothing is good abt this place no tv no garage - The manager is new and bec there is no garage she told me to find where i can park my car.....she priorities their van to be park inside rather om than offer it to the guest. She is a french and nothing knew about Legaspi City....No TV in the room and cant get help from her if you need to. The room though one week before i specified where i should be but she put us in the back room without a view. Our room is in the second floor and you have to navigate this narrow steel stair by yourself without help from them. Any miscalculation on this narrow stair will cause you brokrn bones in the hospital. Buffet breakfast very poorly prepared and only viands without dessert.....Overall non recomendable and i will not return here any more.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Simple but comfortable - Very accommodating staff! They arranged a tour to Donsol and dropped us straight to the airport and assisted us with all our questions. Fantastic view of Mt. Mayon (unfortunately near eruption so we enjoyed it at a distance)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Unable to go - We were not able to get there, bad storms in Manila and all flights were cancelled. I think when something like that happens we should get a refund.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenience and friendly staff - Stayed at Balay de la Rama for 3 nights 4 days, and it was absolutely one the best accommodations I have stayed in . Owners jessie and karen were so helpful in giving tips on where to go since this is my first trip to Bicol , staff Jake & Ramon were equally accomodating in attending to my needs . Room was clean and and the place is close to most of the tourist spots and main shopping centre. i would definietely stay here again on my next trip to Bicol
- Florian (6/5): Nothing special - I don't see any special on this hotel..
- jfabrerol (10/5): Highly recommended - Very comfortable
- Virgil (10/5): Balay de la Rama - The room is small but just right all we need but the room is cute, very clean, very homely. Beautiful view of the Mayon volcano from the balcony of the room. The hotel service was excellent.
- BWells (10/5): Romantic Evening in Daraga - Although we were only there for one night, the relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff put us at ease in the middle of our vacation. We loved sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink while watching the sunset over Mayon. The staff went out of their way to make sure our needs were taken care of every step of the way. The room was spacious and spotless. The location is centralized to the Daraga church and Cagasawa ruins -- close enough that we took a pleasant walk to both sites. Highly recommend this gem!
- mike63 (8/5): comfortable stay - Just take care that this pension is not in Legazpi, but in the town before called Daraga, if you need to take the bus to Donsol or come from Donsol it is half an hour trycicle ride to the Legazpi station, but Daraga also has a bus station. The rooms is good value for 36 USD with view to the volcano. We stood upstairs. No view downstairs. The pension is located at a very busy street so be aware of the noise from cars. Breakfast is ok, but nothing special. Good for a short stay. Good collection of DVDs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Example: close to all must-see sights - i really enjoyed my stay in balay de la lama!
- Boeing737man (4/5): Didn't stay - Had a good look arround , it looked nice , but I was double booked so the owner drove me to another hotel !
- David & Rizza (10/5): Comfortable stay - My wife and I stayed at the B&B for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The room was comfortable. The staff was great and always helpful. Jess always gave us good advice on places to eat and places to visit. Thanks for making our visit to Legazpi delightful. We really enjoyed the city tour.
- mba (8/5): covered the basics - The B and B was homey. It was like staying in a friend's house. The deluxe room was big enough for the 3 of us. It was clean. What bothered us was the big number of red ants on the walls and floor. Maybe the mango tree outside the window was the culprit. Filling breakfast. One pet peeve was the absence of a staff member for our needs, like asking for towels and an extra bed which we indicated upon checkin. A bell on the front desk would have been handy for guests. Overall, a good value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Budget-wise, friendly staff - Actually, our stay was disrupted by total black out though not the fault of the hotel but of the political problems concerning the power supply of the province. The hotel room is big and nice but no TV. Free breakfast is included and it's good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): clean rooms and very convenient location - what impressed me most with Balay dela Rama is their cleanliness or perhaps the way they take care of their guests.
when I got back to my room after a tiresome tour, I was surprised to see my room so clean and tidy with new sheets and towels.
I like their location too, its near the airport and all the busses going to manila pass in front of this hotel.
- rrjuliet (10/5): home away from home - Balay dela Rama is the perfect place to stay if you want to feel the comfort of your home while your travelling. They welcome you like a family. It always feels like we're in our own dining room everytime we have our free breakfast...not the usual hotel restaurant with a lot people..our room is nice and clean with its own hot&cold shower room and of most of all the price is very reasonable
- Saddington (6/5): One night stay - As to be expected in a guest house, however owners should not inflict their personal dislike of television on their guests, without declaring this in their advertising.
The supplied breakfast was adequate in quantity, but lacking in choice,[take it or leave it], and provided no bread or fresh fruit items.
The door to the room had a lock, which unfortunately was defective, and all management and staff were already aware that entry could be effected without using a key.
As is normal in the Philippines, promises were made that arrangements were in place to remedy the problem, as soon as we vacated the room!!!
However these defects apart, the room was tolerable for its price in a city that was fully booked for a convention, in the middle of a month long city festival.
The establishments location in Daraga results in high transportation costs back and forth to Le Gaspi
- Kristina (10/5): Nice house! - Had a comfortable stay at Balay de la Rama! Very clean. Be sure to book upstairs rooms to get private toilet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We love the personal service we received, especially from sweet, hardworking Clarissa. Thank you for the wonderful, delicious breakfast to start our day.
