Guest Reviews
- Tom (8/5): - No complaints
- Claire (10/5): - Was a little worried when I booked but it was perfect for one night. Very clean, tea coffee facilities . No on suites but plenty of bathrooms and we had showers in our rooms, towels provided.
Parking and the car park is gated, felt very safe .
Would definitely stay again but of a gem.
- Rob (6/5): - I searched for this property for some 30 minutes, even with a Garmen in my car. They had a small sign over the door. That is the only indication of where it was. They had a locked gate for parking, but I didn't know that until I knocked on the door. Once inside, the hotel was clean and fairly quiet.
- John-paul (10/5): - excellent value for money.stayed loads and loads,and will loads more.🙂
- alan (8/5): Night in Liverpool - Ideal for a night. Perfect for the motorway and only a 10 minute walk to Wavertree train station. Hotel is quirky, but big rooms and staff always on hand. Easy access to City centre by bus. Busy area with everything you need. Will stay again
- Russ (6/5): - Querky property, doesn't look like a hotel/motel. Staff very good and accommodating. Ideal for matchday with the lads, wouldn't take the wife. Beds we had were not the best but understand the need for waterproof covers. These make a lot of noise when moving in bed. would stay again if stuck for accommodation. Free secure parking is a bonus.
- Bruce (6/5): Overpriced for what is offered - Last minute selection due to cancelled ferry, for the price it wasn’t the best it was ok at best, the room was a double instead of a twin but the man did try and get hold of me prior to us arriving, offered an extra duvet which was fine, separate bathroom and shower so no on suite so price is excessive from what we paid.
- Anthony (8/5): Great Location - Stayed here for 12 nights over 3 weeks.
Great large room clean tidy well fitted out kitchen on the same floor. Bit nosey due to traffic. Secure parking Staff very helpful and responsive
- Terence (8/5): Very clean and well ordered hotel - Although not modern, we were impressed with the cleanliness and good arrangement of the facilities. The security to the building was also very reassuring. Would definitely book again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stay over. - Enjoyed my stay here, and staff are great too!
- Steven (10/5): - On suite shower facility clean and tidy . Excellent staff friendly and helpful . Good value for money staff on site 24 hrs . Would recommend thank you all .
- Verified traveler (10/5): regular booker in town for footy as per. - stay here often.very often.very clean, short trip to town centre, friendly and helpful staff.and so much better value for money than accomodation in the town centre.
- Lois (8/5): - The staff were great , very friendly and offered knowledge of the area. Room was clean and comfortable . The only suggestion I would change is to get larger single beds for the twin room as plenty of space for it. Possibility of 4ft beds to suit adults.
- nicola (8/5): - Cheap and cheerful.
Lovely welcome from Michael
Rooms too hot but we were told when we checked in
- Dawn (6/5): - When we first arrived the host was fantastic
Let us check in earlier and let our friends chill while waiting and was impressed
However when we returned a few hours later moaned about having to get up to let us in and left my 14 year old nephew outside in the rain while the others went in as he buzzed the door too many time
- katrina (10/5): Overnight stay. - Really friendly and clean and tidy.
Definitely would stay again.
- Claire (10/5): Great place - The staff were so friendly and welcoming, we arrived a little late after getting lost but I called them and they said it was no problem, and said if there was anything we needed to let them know
- Paul (4/5): Never again! - Booked a double, I was given a single bed. Seems like the right doesn't know what the left hand is doing!
- Jade (10/5): - Just what we needed for the night. Friendly staff and clean rooms
- Mark (10/5): Happy chappie - Very helpful staff nice clean room
- James (8/5): - Pleasant staff clean rooms
- David (10/5): - Very happy with accommodation exceeded my expectations.
Staff was friendly
- Natalie (10/5): Lovely stay. - They welcomed us in, showed us the facilities and gave us advice on where to go in Liverpool. through a booklet in the room. Great location for the price. Communal toilets and kitchen, were very clean and decent for the price. Felt very safe, would definitely recommend.
- Daniel (6/5): - Says B and B. No breakfast available and I paid 110 quid to sleep basically. Bed has a metal piece sticking out of it and blood on duvet cover amongst a few other stains (I have photos). Staff (x1) I met was nice enough. Rang up a couple of days before I arrived to ask if I could use air fryer at least to make some breakfast and lady said yes. Got there and not available. I get it’s a family run business, but maybe lower the price to accommodate no breakfast when, essentially it’s just a bed and a shared toilet and shower for males and females.
- Jane (10/5): - I stayed for a very short period but exactly what I needed it for.
Perfect location to get to Anfield stadium only 2miles out and surrounded by places to eat with superstores and popular franchises in walking distance!
Secure parking available which was what sold it for me. And it was extra secure because the gates weren’t really working they were really stiffly closed and the staff had to come and prise it open and close it for us afterwards haha!
They’ve also got a good security camera set-up too so that was extra reassuring.
I didn’t get the guys name but he was from Manchester - he was so polite, very informative of the facilities within the B&B and just generally helpful.
We didn’t stay long enough to catch the breakfast as we left super early hours.
I was surprised that having an en-suite room it was just a shower and no toilet but there was one just out on the landing that’s shared so wasn’t a big issue.
Will defo stay again if I’m visiting the stadium.
- Kevin (10/5): - Great location excellent room
- Nia (8/5): - Ideal for short stay. Safe parking and friendly staff
- Annette (8/5): Convenient and reasonable place to stay - The hotel is in a rather run down area, but the car park is secure and there are good bus services nearby which take you into the city centre. The rooms were clean with the exception that the teacups in the room were dirty. The staff were pleasant and helpful
- Thomas (8/5): - Good stay, good property and location
- Caroline (10/5): Great location with lock up for car - Quick & efficient checkin
- Wolfe (6/5): Unable to go at last minute - Sadly we were unable to go to the hotel on the day due to illness, so cannot give a proper review. However, when I called to let them know, the receptionist Caitlin was so kind, polite and efficient in dealing with an annoying situation, us cancelling when we should have been arriving. Thank you Caitlin for your kindness.
- John-paul (10/5): 1 nighter for football - stay here regularly.clean comfortable,great price,and just a short hop to town,bus,train or taxi.🙂
- Caroline (8/5): Great spot if driving in/out of Liverpool - Great spot & secure parking available
- Saranjit (6/5): - 24/7 staff available
asked for double bed - joined 2 single beds - not comfortable
shared bathroom
- Jean (8/5): Functional economical secure accommodation. - For us this was a surprisingly ideal stop on the way to the IOM ferry. Despite being at a busy junction, good double glazing made it quiet. There was secure parking for our car and the ebikes loaded on it. It was not attractive from the outside and getting to it from the opposite side of the road involved an illegal u-turn or a diversion to come from the right direction! We were let in cheerfully by the person on duty. The room was clean, comfortable and functional. There was a small communal kitchen with microwave, fridge and freezer. Although not en-suite there was a sink and shower in the room, few fellow guests, and the full facilities across the corridor were, effectually, ours. No food was served but there was a Tesco nearby with a cafe for breakfast. It was near to the ferry port but don’t rely on any signage to help you find the IOM ferry - that’s another story!!!
- John (10/5): regular guest, who keeps coming back. - room and facilities spotlessly clean, kind and friendly staff.handy that i can turn up at any hour to check in.have stayed many times, and will many more times too.
- Kazimierz (10/5): - It was very good and let me bring Trent Home
- Robert (10/5): Great, no frills accommodation handy for the city - I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Liverpool Gateway B&B. The staff were incredibly friendly, my room was a good size and there was nowhere else in the city that could touch it for value. Parking was hassle free and I'd definitely book a room in future.
- Einir (10/5): - Fantastic staff and very pleasant
- Eugene (10/5): - Very friendly staff and nice clean room.
Good place!
- Kevin (10/5): - Basic no toilet in room but clean staff helpful, but for the price great
- Scott (6/5): - Bad bed and had no sink. It had 24 hr security and you could come home anytime during the night.
- Michelle (8/5): Budget Room But clean tidy with friendly staff. - Budget room, clean and tidy with friendly staff.
- Anthony (10/5): - Stayed here before would recommend, lovely staff to .
- Stephen (10/5): - Only stayed the 1 night was perfect for what i wanted, safe parking rooms were spotless and only 5 mins taxi to town centre will definitely stay again
- Jonathan (10/5): - Excellent service from the staff and very accommodating
- lee (10/5): - Good
- Mark (10/5): - My 2 nd time staying and staff very friendly and accommodating will definitely be back
- Chris (6/5): - Clean and tidy but for a double room it was only catered for 1 person i.e 1 cup 1 towel but other than that it was a nice place and friendly staff
- Natalie (8/5): Pleasant Stay overall - I arrived on Saturday, everything was grand.
I only have a couple of issues that aren't major but did impact a little. I was staying in Room 1, which overall was a lovely room, opposite the loo and kitchen area. I was pleased to have a kettle and sachets in the room, everything supplied was in the cup provided (a cappuccino sachet, 2 milk sachets, some sugar and some loose teabags) took everything out of the cup and made myself a lovely cappuccino, went to have the milk sachets to find I could only use one as the other had been used but was left in the cup, causing a teabag to look like a dried used one - yes I threw it away.
The other issue I had was there was no lamp near the bed, so once you turned off the light, you kind of need the torch on your phone to get to the bed, as the light switch is by the door and the bed is on the other side of the room. Room 1 would really benefit with having some sort of floor lamp that is easily switched off beside the bed.
- Wayne (10/5): - Nice place to stay
- Bethany (8/5): - Comfy bed, clean facilities, all I needed xx
- Laura (8/5): - Accommodation was very good for the price we paid. Large room which was mostly en-suite apart from the toilet, but this was stated during the booking.
- michael (10/5): - Really great place to stay, super helpful staff. Highly recommend
- James (10/5): - Safe parking security at the hotel walking distance between pubs and eating venues
- Natalie (8/5): - Does what it says on the tin, nice and tidy/ clean. Helpful having a staff member around 24/7, made me feel safer.
My only issue was minor - the bed had a shiny rubber mattress with just a thin bottom sheet (this felt cold/ uncomfortable during the night). Could do with an under layer.
Other than that, fine!
- James (10/5): - Fantastic
- John-paul (10/5): - great value for money.stayed many times, and plan to again and again.had shower in room so only had to share toilet, room and facilities spotless, staff always around if needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent value for a Saturday night in Liverpool - Liverpool hotels on Saturday nights are daylight robbery. This place was a tiny fraction of the central prices - yet it's just two stops on the train or a tenner black cab ride away. Spotlessly clean, large room - yeah not ensuite but the bathrooms are large and clean too. I booked a single but was given a double, which was nice. Staff could be friendlier but that doesn't really matter - they're running a great place at a great price - don't hesitate, just book it!
- Alison (10/5): - Easy to get to, near a retail park, great value and easy to get to the docks. Friendly staff, big room and although right on the main road we slept really well. Shared toilets and shower were a concern beforehand but absolutely fine in reality.
- A (8/5): Top Marks - Perfect stay - great value - friendly - definitely will stay again if working in Liverpool
- Emmanuel (10/5): - It was very quiet and clean.
- Bernie (4/5): - B&B does not serve breakfast
Plug socket too far away from mirror
En suite does not mean own toilet.
False advertising. Very disappointed
- Kevin (8/5): Cheap and cheerful! - Comfortable bed, polite staff! It’s my “go to” when I’m in Liverpool. Not a posh place, but that’s no issue to most people
- keith (10/5): - All you need
Clean, comfortable and a great price.
Why pay for facilities you don't use?
- John (10/5): Liverpool Old Swan Weekend - It was exactly as I was looking for, a good location to where I wanted to be, plenty around in the local area, room was spacious and comfortable, the only downside was the shared toilets, but there are plenty of them, so not that bad at all. I would stay here again and I would recommend it.
- John-paul (8/5): - very reasonably priced(most of the time.clean and comfortable with helpful staff.a shared bathroom, this too kept very clean.have stayed here many times in the past and will do many times again.isn't too inconvenient for town, either a short bus trip or a taxi, about 10-15mins away.
- Ilesh (10/5): Good. Cheap. Friendly. - Needed a place to star after a night game at the football. This ticked every box. Cheap. Clean. Parking (secure). Walkable to anfield, which I always enjoy when at a night game, took about an hour. Also a big Tesco less than 5mins away plus coffee shops and cafe all a 5-10 minute walk away. My thanks to Josh and the young lady who was on duty before him. They were both helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but clean - no breakfast so not b&b - For a two night stay in a 'b&b' there was no breakfast offered/available. We had a double room with a separate kitchen, toilet and shower room available, which was fine as we essentially only spent hours between 11pm to 7am-10am there both nights. It was clean and the smell reflected this.
- Collins (8/5): - The night worker was amazing. He was always responsive
- Anthony (8/5): - Location and price worked well for us. Shower in our room, but most I think are shared as are the toilets. Free secure parking. All in all basic but
- Mr John (8/5): - Good clean room with everything you need and secure carpatking. Good value
- Kenneth (8/5): - Above avg for a low budget stay but the community bathroom wasn’t the cleanest. Still way better than my choice in the next city on our UK trip.
- david (6/5): - There was no breakfast
- Ivan (10/5): - Great place to stay! The staff is very friendly and helpful and the decoration is simply marvelous if you are a football and especially a Liverpool fan.
- John (8/5): - stayed many times, will again.clean,comfortable.it isn't a bed AND breakfast anymore, seing as only thing you get for breakfast is a cerial bar or pot of porridge that you need to add hot water to from the kettle in the room.however, very reasonable price compared to the exhorbitant rates being asked for in town.so,no complaints.
- Jamie (10/5): Excellent - Excellent, upgraded my room for free to a double at no extra charge. Clean, friendly, a secure car park and a free small breakfast. Only thing is next to a main road but I knew this before coming and brought ear plugs so didn't really bother me. Overall brilliant.
- JULIE (8/5): - Great stay here for 1 night to get to the Lets rock festival. Basic accommodation, but clean, comfortable and very friendly and helpful staff. On a major road junction so lots of traffic all through the night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great for business, not for romance - Shower was in the room with the bed rather than as an ensuite which made the room feel quite small. The toilet was shared between all guests, which didn't suit us for hygene and privacy reasons. The breakfast choice was poor at best, 2 porridge pots (neither of us like porridge) and one cereal bar (again a flavour neither of us liked).
While I'm sure this property may be all well and good for business trips, certainly not for a romantic weekend break.
- Stuart (10/5): - Great location, clean room and friendly helpful staff.
- Louiseb (10/5): Lovely - Great stay.
Lovely place.
Very welcoming
Clean.
Would stay again.
- helen (10/5): Lovely stay - Brilliant stay , hotel staff very friendly and went out there way to help , room was spotless , would defo go back
- William (10/5): Absolute Bargain - Great for the price 👍 No complaints from me.
- BRENDAN (8/5): Liverpool - Alexandria was awesome.. greeted us nicely .. checked us in early with no problems. Great location.. clean rooms
- John (8/5): - disappointed that wasn't able to watch tv due to there being no signal.also disappointed that no breakfast being served and reason given was covid, well, maybe just me,but perhaps the world is getting back to normal now? so,given the unusually high price for this b and b,which i have stayed in before, probably because it was bank holiday weekend, would have been nice to have had a proper breakfast before leaving.no complaints about comfort and cleanliness, and usually the price for a stay here is very reasonable,so would recommend staying here rather than paying up to 3 times as much for a city centre hotel, sharing a bathroom is no big deal,as long as it's clean, and both times i have stayed i have no complaints about cleanliness.
- Gerald (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great weekend in liverpool - Great location, very friendly staff. Felt very safe and secure
- Stephen (10/5): Very helpful - Going to football
- V (10/5): Friendly, professional - Pleasant staff, friendly and professional. Secure access
- kayleigh (10/5): gateway b&b - very clean and very friendly staff, room was spotless would definitely recommend and stay again
- Michelle (10/5): - Loved my stay clean room clean shared bathroom will stay again
- Helen (10/5): Clean affordable accommodation outside Liverpool - Budget friendly B&B accommodation with 24 hour security, free parking and helpful staff. Room had a sink and shower. Toilet was shared on corridor. Taxi to city centre cost approx ÂŁ8. Much cheaper than staying in the city and avoids parking fees. Highly recommended if you want an affordable stay in Liverpool. Old Swan town centre just a 5 minute walk and large retail park nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic accommodation. Very Clean. Good value for money.
- Shaik (10/5): - I stayed there for 2 nights it was amazing experience staff was really friendly and breakfast was really nice as well
- Maxine (8/5): - The room was spacious and clean but it was quite chilly the heating was the only negative point.
Free, secure parking - excellent and helpful staff.
- Denise (10/5): Friendly helpful staff - Friendly helpful staff. Room had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. The secure parking is a great bonus. Close enough to get anywhere with a short taxi ride (if you can get one on a Saturday night!) would recommend to anyone as it is very secure and safe.
- Karen M (6/5): - Premises were clean & we had a secure car park which were two benefits. The staff also very friendly.
The downside - very noisy as on a main road junction so sirens etc all night. Bed was covered in plastic with only the thinnest sheet which barely fit for a covering. Advised that no breakfast other than a couple of bars & a pot of oats due to COVID. This is not acceptable to use COVID as an excuse as able to dine in restaurants so no different. We stayed for 2 nights & had to ask for oats for second breakfast. No reduction in cost because of this. Expensive for a very average B & B.
- Andrew (8/5): Good value - The room was comfortable clean and warm plenty of tea and coffee I would stay again
- Sarah (8/5): - It was very easy to access, staff were very friendly and the room was lovely.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for one night only. - Although the staff are helpful, they don’t really seem too bothered if your there or not. They did allow me to leave my car in secure parking for a few hours after checking out. Was very good of them.
If you pay extra for the room with shower included & double bed. You will be disappointed. Shower has no pressure whatsoever and the Double bed is merely two singles pushed together. Resulting in a terrible nights sleep.
Apart from that though, the room was very clean. For a one night stay there’s no issue here.
Very deflating when the person on the phone asks how much I paid for the room, and shrieks in horror when I told him. With him saying “I can’t believe that’s what you’ve been charged”. It was like even they knew it wasn’t value for money.
Staff definitely need to become more professional towards their guests.
