From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and looked after. The standout of our visit was the exceptional customer service from our host, Ian and Debs. He truly goes above and beyond to make his guests feel special. I had secretly planned to have some surprise flowers waiting in our room, and they handled the request flawlessly, helping to make a special moment even more memorable. His attentiveness and genuine care are what set this place apart. The guest house itself is full of a wonderful, old-school charm that feels both elegant and incredibly comfortable. We were blown away by the size of our room – it was huge! There was so much space to spread out and relax, making it feel like a true home away from home. One of our favourite features was the beautiful pool area. It was the perfect spot to unwind and soak up the sun on a lazy afternoon. If you're looking for a place with character, warmth, and a host who makes you feel like a valued friend rather than just a guest, you cannot do better than The Purple Tree.

It was close by to the local beach and attractions If we are to be picky, the bed was very large and made it difficult to get to the bathroom without hitting yourself on the bed frame or the bathroom door but we preferred to have the bigger bed so we didn't mind too much

Polite friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. Everything is clean and tidy. It's a short walk to the beach front and town/amenities. There really isn't anything to fault. (I'm usually pretty difficult to please!)

• Creswick (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly and helpful staff and hosts. Room was good with a pleasant outlook. The breakfasts were very good and well cooked. Good base for day trips especially if you need to travel by public transport.

• Mike (10/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Great hosts. Served up a beautiful full English Breakfast each day. Rooms were clean and spacious. Short walk to torquay centre,with plenty of pubs on the way. Two minute walk to the train station if you wanted to venture of elsewhere. 100 percent recommend the purple tree to anyone. Nothing negative to say

• Lee (9/5): Great facilities and easy access to public transport links. - The facilities were good and it had a lot to offer on location and good public transport They could either reduce or include the use of the hot tub. £20 per hour was a bit steep for a 3 day stay, however this is being a little picky!
• Gareth (9/5): Great stay - Pool area was excellent, bedroom was spacious and comfortable, games room, tv room all great. Good breakfast and onsite bar a great edition Not really the properties fault But did share the property with guest with dogs one of the which was quite aggressive and loud.

The hosts were friendly and helpful, the room (for 3 of us) was more than adequate and the facilities were great for our needs (pool and pool table)!! Breakfast was hearty and tasty. No negatives.

• Sergio (8/5): Best staff ever - The installations were more like a big house rather than a hotel but the stuff was absolutely amazing. They really took care of the details. The breakfast was done at the moment we were sitting, homemade and delicious. Such a nice place really recommended.

Made us feel very at home & nothing was too much trouble. Will definately stay again 👍 There are some lights by the pool area that flash constantly through the night which is my only complaint.

• Robert (9/5): Spacioas Room - Fantastic hosts and room (room 6). There was a nice view from the window and the bed was comfortable. Nice shower and overall the building was well put together. Spacioas room with high ceilings throughout the building. I didn’t use the pool but it seemed well maintained. My wife forgot some items of clothing and the hosts were nice enough to keep them safe and post them to me. I liked the area, but there are parts of the most direct route to Torquay Beach which weren't always the nicest to walk through. I am however from the countryside and tolerance of the bad points of towns is low so take this comment with a pinch of salt.

• Lina (4/5): Disappointed - cleanliness and the hosting couple seem nice, especially the husband, very sweet and apologetic. Room size and discomfort, poor arrangment: Window can only open 1 cm, no space to put our bags or any surfaces for our wash bags or other belongings, all our stuff was spread on the floor, no hangers or hooks, only one rail for one towel, we kept the rest of the towels on the bathroom door handle and our bed and shift them from one place to another. The wardrobe is tiny and the door can not open fully as the bed was in the way, neither can the toilet door as it hit the toilet. We have to squeeze ourselves to use either of them.This room is not suted for two people (especially two adults) due to the small size and is not good for renting, due to poor fixing and arrangment. Without the breakfast and with this quality of room £360 for three nights is not justified. We were offered bigger room for an extra pay but we didn't think we have to pay extra as the cost of the room we stayed was overpriced and we were not prepare to spend any more on the accomodation. We left a day earlier as we were struggling to have a good stay and sleep.

My children (12 &13) particularly like the swimming pool and the gaming downstairs. The little arcade has loads of games installed in it, pool table, darts and some board games.

• Cheryl (10/5): Great holiday , no complaints and the weather was a bonus too - We didn’t have breakfast whilst there but the option was available if we had wanted it . Biggest selling point was the swimming pool my daughter loved it . We also enjoyed playing pool and darts in the games room . Location was good as was a short walk into town and to the beach
