Guest Reviews
- Stephen (10/5): - Helpful friendly staff and a lovely stay.
- Peter (8/5): - Everything was ok .
- Adrian (10/5): - Everything was very good and we enjoyed our stay very friendly staff
- Gordon (10/5): Wonderful location - Wonderful location and very friendly staff. Very clean and breakfast lovely. Bed comfortable although room a bit tired.
- Mike (10/5): - Exactly what we were hoping for. A very quaint pub and inn. Lots of character and the perfect location.
- Pat (8/5): - Very central in Richmond friendly staff breakfast fresh and cooked well
Would stay again
- Natalie (2/5): - We arrived at 3pm, no answer for 4 or 5 minutes even though people were inside and we could see a television on. Eventually someone came and said there was an electrical problem in the kitchen. She said come back in half an hour. We came back and again were told to come back in half an hour. No apology or anything. After half an hour we still weren’t allowed in. We got a bad vibe so decided to book in somewhere else. We didn’t want to stay somewhere that didn’t seem to be safe or welcoming.
- Mark (10/5): - Great location in the market, which made for lots of dining and shopping options. Clean room. Very welcoming and helpful staff.
- richard (8/5): - Great location and breakfast was excellent. Would stay again
- Kenneth (8/5): - Great freindly service,excellent breakfast.
- Jackie (8/5): Great room - Loved our room, the biggest let down was the breakfast, we ordered full English breakfast, it was over cooked and just poor quality plus the area it was served in was not very welcoming!
- Mrs E L (10/5): Richmond stay Oct 2020 - Great location, good selection of pubs and shops, very scenic only downside was the lack of parking.
- stephen (8/5): Good location - Good rooms with brill service and well stocked bar. Tasty breakfast too. Just frustrating for parking with disc zone so had to paro bear cricket ground on long stay. Only 5 mins away though and ylur literally in the market place. Would happily stay again. Good home made food too which is a bonus
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean rooms ,nice breakfast very good location
Helpfull staff
- Andy (4/5): - Day spoilt by looking for car parking when description says free parking and that lasts 2 hours only
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Room was cold but had heater. No bath math which made showering a bit precarious. No remote for tv. However staff lovely and great breakfast.
- FLUGRA (10/5): - Great little place. Room nice and big, comfy bed. A couple of light bulbs in bathroom need to be replaced. Good breakfast
- Richard (8/5): - Excellent room above a lovely pub on the main market place in Richmond. Very modern bathroom, with good shower and an excellent breakfast included in the price
Only real let down was the comfort of the bed, with the swings seemly old so had an aching back in the morning
- Verified traveler (8/5): Cheap and cheerful, but doesn't have wifi - This is overall a cheap stay, with quiet, clean rooms. I've enjoyed staying here and have stayed here three times in three different rooms, but it really cannot be considered to have free wifi in the rooms. Each of the rooms I've stayed in has only had partial wifi coverage, or intermittent coverage at best. In one of the rooms, I've had to use my own wifi login piggybacking an unknown BT home hub from somewhere nearby. They say the wifi is poor because they have old, thick walls, but I don't see this as an excuse, they just haven't invested in the internet, daisychaining a couple of boosters from somewhere. Internet is an important feature these days, arguably a necessity for a business traveller, so I will find it hard to justify staying here with work again.
- Malcolm (8/5): Splendid - Lovely large comfortable room, huge bed, staff all very friendly and breakfast good, what more could anyone want
- john (10/5): - Really nice large room & bed! Staff couldn`t have been nicer.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect little lace - Fantastic people and rooms were clean and cozy.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Yuk - Room like something out of the 70’s. Squeaky bed and you could feel every spring. Bathroom dirty. Whole place smelt of fried food. Checked out without staying and wasted £75. Pictures do nor reflect the actuality.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room size and bathroom size was excellent.
The staff were very pleasant.
The breakfast was really good.
Conveniently located.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great breakfast but cold rooms - The Swale room was fine although it was cold and couldn’t turn the heat on. The Stump room had no heat and also the shower wouldn’t come on. My guests were very cold. Staff said they would note this but seemed nonchalant. Breakfast was excellent though. Check in service was good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Our bedroom was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good staff helpful and friendly
Overall stay was let down by the side entrance to property and the staircase could do with freshen up and cleaning such a pity as everything else was great
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was nice, room looked over the market square so we were disturbed by early morning deliveries and activities outside. It wasn’t an issue for us but if you want to sleep in then a room towards the back of the property may be better. Breakfast was good every morning and personal service from the owners was great. We have stayed here before and will do so again next time.
- Julie (8/5): Lovely stay - Great stay and location. No parking available but lots of car parks
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was cold at bedtime had to wear t shirt for bed. Breakfast was to die for it was beauriful. Staff were excellent.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Just stayed in the castle tavern great sized rooms staff very friendly and helpful and a excellent breakfast. Will differently stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Beer and food were very good. Bed comfortable but room disappointing - no coat hangers, hairdrayer etc. Bathroon window pane broken. Wall behind fire door looked damp / bits coming off. No food available on the day we arrived..
Richmond has a restricted 2 hours stay car park between 8am and 6pm so if you are thre during the day it is a nightmare trying to find somewhere to park
- Doug (8/5): Gataway - We had a good time in the Castle Tavern, the breakfast was spot on and our room was clean,we stopped in the brewery room,we would defo go back there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great located Tavern, staff friendly, rooms clean, nice and bright.
I would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was right in the centre of Richmond. Handy for everything. The room was spacious and very clean, the breakfast was excellent and you could preorder which was great . I would highly recommend staying here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The Castle Tavern let it self down on a number of things and I would not stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely, friendly staff. Room very comfortable and a great cooked breakfast.
- Rick (10/5): excellent business location. - Was made to feel welcome the moment we walked through the door. Very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Rooms were very comfortable and I liked the idea that my privacy was utmost and my room was only serviced if I asked. Didn’t get to eat at the tavern due to work commitments but was made a breakfast buttie on our departure which was packed with ingredients. Will definitely stay here again.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good place to stay, excellent location. Friendly staff.
- Graham (10/5): Overnight stay. - Very friendly and helpful staff with good food. Only negative is lack of parking
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay but could be improved - Nice welcome from staff. Busy and popular pub. Rooms okay but could do with an upgrade. Beds comfy. No view from most of the rooms just the gable end of neighbouring buildings. Great breakfast.
Downside is the pub smells greasy. I think the kitchen extractor fan needs a filter change or an upgrade.
