The bathroom floor needed a good mopping, hair in and around the tub and carpet could use a vacuuming. There was no handsoap at the sink so had to use the shower bodywash as a quick fix. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Our location was on the backside of the hotel on the ground floor in an alleyway with parking right in front of the room door.

- Stella (8/5): - We loved staying in Anacortes and the price was reasonable. The lumberyard across the street was noisy early in the morning and breakfast/coffee were offered too late to be useful. Thankfully there were good coffee places nearby and the rooms were very spacious.
- Joshua (2/5): - Despite the online pics, the place is next to a lumber yard that blocks any views of the water. There is nothing remarkable to add to the convenience of being in a town near the San Juan ferry. The toilet paper roll dispenser was broken, there was peeling calking on every counter and there were a total of five facial tissues available for use before the box ran empty. The whole place had a sad vibe and was poorly built and outfitted! There were also zero housecleaning services! Upon returning from San Juan Island later in the evening on a Saturday night, our electronic key did not work and there was nobody present to set it right and we had to sleep in the car until 9:00am the next morning before being able to retrieve our things. When we brought our concerns to the staff, we were told that because we paid through Expedia that there was nothing they could do to make amends. Save yourself from this, people! It sucks!
- Genevie (10/5): - It was next to a lumber yard, however accessible to DT Anacortes and Bellair Shuttle service if you’re using their services. It was safe with options of Safeway, dining, and fast food. The room was clean, offers microwave and fridge, newer furniture and vanity in the bathroom. Breakfast starts at 9am, which is kind of late in my opinion for most travelers.

Saturday at 8:30 housekeeping knocked on our door to service. we asked for an extra coffee pod and was told no because the breakfast did not open till 9! the person at the desk did offer two yogurts and 2 tiny apples to us on Friday night. we chose this for the breakfast and could not participate in it and the gentleman at the desk could not have cared less. the room was clean, enough outlets, easy parking. well never go there again.

- Mary (4/5): - The building smelled. The carpet hasn't been cleaned in ages. The room was worn and smelled like cologne. The toilet seat was worn with marks all over it - looked dirty. Very old and clearly outdated. Would not recommend for the price.
- carole (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place with kitchenette. Spacious room and comfortable beds. Plenty of towels. The only negative is that there is no elevator available. We had suitcases that we needed help with; the person at the front desk helped when we checked in; when we checked out, we had to carry them down ourselves. It was difficult; so that part of the stay was hard. Thank you for a nice place to stay in the heart of anacortes.

- Allison (8/5): Decent place - The room was huge with 2 bedrooms a kitchen and the diningeoom. Check in was easy and they got us in early. It was a nice stay but the room could use a deep cleaning. You could tell the cleaned the general spots but the blinds were dirty, the bathroom looks like it could use a fresh coat of paint and they could add a second AC split the livingroom and dining room got warm early, and the only split was in the primary suite. It was spacious though which really was great!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Overpriced and Outdated - It was wrong location for softball tournament wanted to cancel 4 days before check-in but they wouldn’t honor the refund. I figured well since we’ve already paid might as well stay since the photos online seemed like the rooms were updated and modern. We’ll to our surprise it was far from that and the pictures of the rooms online to be misleading since the room we got definitely had a cigarette smell to it when you first walk in. The walls need to be cleaned since it had stains on it, paint is chipped everywhere, the bathroom was dirty. It looks like a motel the sofa bed was rough and got charged for an extra guest when the king suite sleeps 4! There were hairs all over the bed which was pretty nasty. Went back down to the office to ask for a new room and the lights were off and door was locked. Just my luck! Breakfast was basic bagels, muffins and cereal. Not to mention over priced for a Motel looking place! Please update your photos online for your customers! On the bright side Check-in was fast the parking area is pretty small tho. It was quiet in the area which was nice. I will avoid this place in the future its outdated and overpriced!

The room had everything we needed. We walked right out of our room to our car so that made it easy to carry in our luggage. There was many food options to choose from in walking distance.

The food selection wasn't huge but still better than I expected given that we only saw one other person show up. The room was clean and the area was quiet. Everything has been renovated which makes it all very aesthetically pleasing. The front desk person was so helpful and gave me some more coffee pods to use. Such a wonderful experience. Probably will be back with family to stay in their villas. Thanks!
- X3677GHjohng (2/5): Epically bad experience - It's not often that a hotel experience gives you a story you'll be telling people for the rest of your life, but here we go! My wife and I checked into the Sunrise Inn for a one-night stay. The room looked fine, but we quickly saw maybe 4-5 long black hairs on the bed, so my wife went to the front desk to explain the situation and ask for a new room. The young man at the front desk came back to the room and we all looked at the hairs together. He acknowledged them and agreed to give us a new room. But oddly, he also said that the hotel has a strict no-smoking policy. We were confused by his comment and said that we understood the policy and that we do not smoke anyway. Then he said, "OK, but you can smell what I'm smelling here, right?" I realized that he was implying that 1) we had smoked in the room even though we hadn't; and 2) that we were lying about it. So my wife and I both very firmly told him, again, that we understood the policy, that we did not smoke in the room and that we do not smoke period. This is about when my radar started going off and felt like something was really wrong with this place. Anyway, after that random and mildly offensive exchange, he agreed to give us a new room right down the hall. The second room looked fine, so we thanked him and started unpacking our things again. But after a few minutes my wife pulled back the sheets on the bed, and guess what? More hairs on the bed (which, incidentally, is an issue that has been raised in numerous other reviews of this hotel, as we discovered after the fact). At this point, having found hairs on the bed in two of two rooms, we decided it was time to move on and find a new hotel. I packed up our bags and took them to the car, while my wife went to the front desk to inform the guy of our decision and ask for a refund. A few minutes later, I got a call from my wife, who was at the front desk and very upset. Apparently the young man would not give her a refund of the $200 room, so my wife told him that that was not acceptable and asked to speak to his manager. The young man called the manager on the phone, but the manager said the hotel has a 36-hour cancellation policy and that we were canceling within 36 hours of our stay, so a refund was not possible. This is of course ridiculous on its face since we were not changing our plans for any old reason; we were changing our plans because *both of the rooms we were given had visible hairs on the bed*. I thought this story couldn't any more absurd, but in fact, it does! When I got to the front desk, my wife was on the phone with our credit card company to file a dispute against the Sunrise Inn for charging us $200 for two dirty rooms we didn't stay in anyway. And what was the young man doing at this time? He was on the phone with the police (!), claiming that my wife was "screaming at him" and "coming at him." Now, bear in mind that I was not in the room when this allegedly happened, but the idea that my 5'5" wife was somehow threatening or intimidating this tall, young man is laughable, especially if you know that she hates confrontation and just wanted to get her $200 back. Sure enough, the police came. Within five minutes, three Anacortes officers were on the scene and taking statements from the front desk guy, my wife and me. At this point, I could not help but laugh as the situation was almost like a parody. I calmly explained to the officers what happened, told them that we could simply get a refund of our money from the credit card company if the hotel wouldn't provide it, and that we'd be staying at a different hotel instead. The police seemed satisfied with this, as did the tall young man, who apparently no longer felt threatened by a 5'5" woman. It took a few hours for us to settle down after this crazy ordeal. It was not a great welcome to a city we'd never visited before. Fortunately, we found a much better hotel right up the road (Marina Inn) and had a wonderful dinner at an Italian restaurant (Nonna Luisa). As for the Sunrise Inn, you can decide for yourself whether you want to stay at a place like this.
- Travelfeet2 (8/5): Quiet Stay in Room 101 - Room off the back was quiet- off season so the office wasn’t open often. We stayed 5 nights. This room is okay- needs a few fixes ( hook missing off bathroom door, tile grout could use a good cleaning, hair dryer melted in a few spots), yet it worked for us and we would return.

- Jacqueline (4/5): - I was disappointed in this property considering the room rate. It's set up like a motel, with the rooms entered from outside. There was light coming in from around the edge of the door due to poor insulation. The garbage truck picks up right outside the room is was in, twice a week @ 7:30am. The HVAC was loud, too close to the bed, and the A/C turns off until 7am. No in room courtesies like bottled water, Kleenex, or hand lotion. The bed was very soft and there was only a heavy comforter which was too warm for the stuffy room. The hair dryer outlet was too far from the bathroom mirror, I could only see half of myself. The office isn't open when you check out so you can't verify your charges. The location is 1/2 a block from the main road, so I was walking in an alley in the dark every night. I will find another place to stay the next time I'm in Anacortes.

We were pleasantly surprised by the up to date Devore and facilities. The staff is exceptional, as is their attention to details. Will definitely choose this property again when next in Anacortes.

- greeneyes630 (10/5): No complaints - We stayed on a Saturday night, in a prebooked standard room, 203. This was a travel day for us, flew into Seattle in the AM and drove to Anacortes. Reception was welcoming. Room was very convenient. We were comfortable and slept well. In town for a whale tour, which was just up the road. Many good restaurants in town. Sunrise at Deception Pass was beautiful. I’m not sure what’s happening with TA but I’m getting a message, something is wrong with 1 of your photos but won’t tell me which one.

We've stayed several times and have always found it to be a so-so experience. All in all, we'll never stay at Sunrise In again. It isn't worth it.

Not only that, the hospitality shown us made us feel welcomed to our new community. Its the little things in hospitality inside the hotel and out that make all the difference for a wonderful experience.

It’s with a heavy heart that I rate Sunrise Inn Villas and Suites three stars. My anticipation was high when I booked the Deluxe King room for a night’s rest during my travels. Initially, my expectations were met with a warm welcome from a friendly front desk attendant, an excellent location, and a spacious room complete with a jetted bathtub. However, the condition of the bedding was deeply disappointing. The sheets and pillows were stained, had visible hairs, and the yellowish hue suggested they hadn’t been washed in some time. While I can overlook minor imperfections, clean and comfortable bedding is a basic expectation for any accommodation, as it’s essential for a good night’s sleep. I sincerely hope this issue is addressed, as it significantly impacted my stay at an otherwise lovely hotel.

We arrived late (after office hours) but received a call that clearly outlined the check in procedure and how to access the key for the room. We had a quiet and comfortable night stay at a really reasonable price. We will search this hotel out again if staying in Anacortes.

Apparently you’re not allowed to have guests over (even if they aren’t sleeping there) I booked this room as a getting ready bridal suite for a wedding I was in. We got called and told we weren’t allowed to have more then the 4 people in the room. We weren’t being obnoxious, rude, crazy loud or throwing any kind of party. No one was staying the night besides the 4 people I put on the paperwork. But the worker that evening didn’t care to hear that no one extra was staying we were just prepping for the wedding the next day. They were rude to me about it and expected me to kick everyone out that wasn’t sleeping there. Overall I won’t be recommending this place to anyone and I won’t be returning.

(Could just be a personal preference) The big tub was a nice surprise though. Walking distance to a bar with pool and foosball tables, which was fun to hang out at before bed. - Verified traveler (10/5): A level above! - Nice and clean! Our room had a deep kitchen sink in the area with the microwave, which was a nice design touch. Location is great, just a short walk to the grocery store. Mini fridge had a proper mini freezer as well, which is so rare. Overall, great value.
