Room was so cozy and had everything needed. Top quality!
Some may say quirky, I say a proper home from home.
I definitely recommend Hazel’s guest house and will hopefully come and stay again soon (hope she will be able to fit me in as she is so much in demand)
So much to see and do in the area. So close to the Olympic Stadium which was where we were visiting. Just wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you so much ♥️

- Jamie (10/5): - Hazel, is a lovely lady. Her house is very comfortable and clean, she has a lovely home. Her breakfasts are fantastic....
- Julie (6/5): Shambolic chaos - I was shown to my room and thought id stepped out of a time machine.
I found the clutter, disorganised decor quite horrific.
I was tired so i slept on a comfortable bed with mismatched bedding.
The bathroom and hallway were overflowing with drying laundry
I feel that this property should not be taking guests until the accomodation is sorted out.
Ok if you like quirky paraphernalia.
- Rod (8/5): Warm welcome in a comfortable house. - Hazel made me very welcome in her comfortable house, I had a good night's sleep and excellent breakfast.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was a great overall experience. The owner Hazel is nice and friendly.
- Sinead (10/5): Grove House stay - Warm, welcoming stay in a cosy home. Not a bland, ordered hotel, like staying with a friend in their busy, chaotic house. Great breakfast. Highly recommend to people who like staying somewhere with heart and character
- Kei Yeung (10/5): - Amazing service.
- Nicholas (10/5): Grove guest house - Good commmunication prior to visit. Really accomodating as i didnt arrive until 0200 yet still cooked full english breakfast for 0700.
Comfy double bed. Free parking.

- David (10/5): Homely guest house - Fantastic host. Nothing too much trouble
- Jimmy (10/5): Lovely host, close to transport links - Easy going relaxed stay for business. Hazel was lovely and cooks a mean omelette!
Room was comfortable and clean with good en-suite.
The house itself is jumbled as Hazel is always on the go but adds to the charm of this loved family home.
- Phil (10/5): great location with excellent transport options - great location with excellent transport options. Hazel made us feel very welcome and the house has real character - not your typical bland chain hotel experience. short bus or walk to Stratford Centre, Olympic Park etc.
We would definitley stay again.
- MJ (10/5): Lovely unique guest house - One of the loveliest guest houses I've ever had the pleasure to stay in. I was made to feel incredibly welcome from the moment I arrived. I so hope I can find the opportunity to return in the near future
- Owen (10/5): - Amazing
- Robert (8/5): - Nice room, great breakfast and welcoming host
- Desmond (8/5): A welcoming personal service guaranteed - not many places like this where you can have a welcome freshly made coffee and a chat provided on arrival.
Be prepared to accept a lived in existing home with plenty of charm
- enggeol (8/5): The real London experience - Hazel who runs this B&B is a lovely character who makes you feel at home immediately. She has an artistic nature and her property reflects that with sculptures crafted by her and local children in the front garden, and nick-nacks all around the house with for example a large china Dalmatian in the entrance hall with a sparking pink top hat. It is without a doubt characterful! If you want minimalism this is not the place for you. If you want to feel at home as if staying with a friend this is the place for you.
- MAGDI (10/5): Charming family run B&B - Nothing to fault. Thanks Hazel
- Anneliese (10/5): Friendly, comfortable and handy guest house - This is a lovely guest house and an ideal place for a short break or to stay when working in London. The owner is really friendly and could not have been more helpful to me. The house itself is quite something, included many decorative features from the 1950s and 60s which you rarely see nowadays. The room I stayed in was clean, very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was lovely as well and it was so refreshing to have a fried breakfast which wasn't swimming in oil!
- graham (10/5): Welcoming and comfortable hotel - Service was excellent. Very friendly owner who made me feel at home. Breakfast was cooked to order and hotel even sent a menu the night before to choose from. Very tasty. breakfast. Quiet room with a very comfortable bed. Will hopefully return
- Chris (10/5): Home from home - I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this guest house. It won't be for everyone, due to the informal and bohemian nature of the building and hospitality, but I found it a real home from home. The owner was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for me. The breakfast was superb and it was a nice change to have the company of the landlady at the breakfast table. It was more like staying over at a friends house and definitely a better ambience than staying in some of the more sterile chain hotels I usually frequent. There is a great pub across from the train station that serves good and reasonably priced food, as well as proper ales on draught. There are plenty of takeaways and mini supermarkets around too if you need them.
I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning when I am next in the area.
- Ian (10/5): Charming Victorian guest house - A lovely Victorian house full of nik naks and full of character. Very quite and safe at night with good pub and places to eat very close by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Unique East End stay - Akin to visiting Grandma's place the intelligent, warm and genial host made this two night visit a unique and memorable experience.
- Tim (10/5): Welcoming and homely guest house - A friendly and welcoming guest house with good facilities.
- Verified traveler (8/5): 2 nights stay in September 2016 - Hazel is extremely welcoming and goes out of her way to make you feel at home. I stayed in the front bedroom with ensuite which looks out over Earlham Grove. Room size is good, bed was comfy and not very much noise from the road so slept well. Breakfast was extensive and tasty. Wifi was in room but rather slow while I was there. A short walk from Forest Gate station or 25 minutes to Stratford with multiple connection possibilities. Overall a very pleasant experience that I would gladly repeat. Perhaps not for those who like everything modern but you'd need to go a long way to find a friendlier host!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good alternative to airport hotels. - Very short walk from Forest Gate station and easy to find. The station has convenient rail connections to both Stansted and
City airports.
- David (10/5): - Hazel is the perfect hostess and nothing was too much trouble. A real home from home !
- Graham (10/5): Home from home - Chose the hotel as it was in walking distance of the Olympic stadium . We had a fantastic warm welcome from Hazel, who showed us to our room and then brought us a pot of tea up to our room . Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable . Breakfast was amazing with such a great choose . After breakfast Hazel, found us the tube route we needed to get to our destination . On returning to pick up our luggage, Hazel made us a cold drink and we sat in her back garden(a rarity in London) and relaxed before our journey home .
- Imelda (10/5): - I stayed for two nights, a brief getaway for relaxation and shopping. I would definitely stay here again. Great location and the owner couldn't have been nicer.
- Phillo (8/5): Great if you like a chat - Close to station for access to Stratford and Liverpool St Stations. Area feels a little uncomfortable at first. There are some really good coffee / pizza / pubs just opened. Rooms small and cluttered but comfortable. Hazel lovely and loves a chat.
- Sarah (8/5): Hazel's Home is Your Home - Lovely stay in Hazel's guesthouse. She really went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and at home. We shared stories, laughs, and tea. She gave great sightseeing advice and tips to maximize my short time in London.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good quiet location and friendly staff. Will stay at guesthouse again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely stay and Hazel was great. We would go back, which says everything
- Corinne (10/5): A Visit with Your Favorite Aunt! - The Grove Guest House had 5 stars and great reviews. I decided other people couldn't be wrong, so I booked a week there for a business trip. I was looking for the true B&B experience, not the hotel with breakfast offered experience. I was not disappointed.
Immediately I get a warm email from Hazel about saftey in London, what the Grove House offers, and asked what I wanted for breakfast. I still had 9 months before I was to check-in, but I admired her committment to make my stay comfortable and happy.
When I checked-in, which was late after a long day of travel, I was exhausted. She made me a cup of tea and let me crash. She had remembered what I requested for breakfast 9 months prior and had it for me the next morning.
The entire week she was warm, friendly, chatty, and so very helpful. She even taught me how to make an omelet! (I had always broke them before, but now I can!)
The best way to describe my experience was as if I was visiting a favorite aunt. Warm, homey, comfortable. And delicious food! The bed was cozy. No stiff hotel bed. It is also only a 5 minute walk to the train. When I come back to London, I will be staying with Hazel.
- Richard (8/5): Bike ride - The B&B was basic the owner's hospitality was very homely & friendly
Got up very early to ensure we had our breakfast before leaving
I would consider staying again excellent value
Thank you
- Nigel (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - Just stayed for 1 night as it was a friends 60th Party nearby.
We've stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world, but none match the hospitality provided by Hazel and her family. Totally relaxed, a great place to stay. nothing was too much trouble.
- john (10/5): exellent - very comfortable and a great host
- Trevor (10/5): SUPER ACCOMMODATION- 110% - SUPERB - AS USUAL AN EXCELLENT STAY, THANK YOU, YOU ARE THE BEST !!!!
- Dasha (10/5): Very warm welcome - The room was nice, I felt very welcome, had a lovely cup of tea/cake and lively discussion with the owner and 2 more staying guests and I would recommend this accommodation to anyone.
- James (10/5): Home from home - Very pleasant experience, handy for shops and railway, only fifteen minutes from central London by train. Hazel was friendly and very informative about places to visit in and around the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super stay - Super service - Hazel provides great service in all respects and would recommend stay at this place.
- trevor (10/5): Excellent value accommodation - Refreshingly different, fantastic hostess in Hazel, nothing is too much trouble I was even provided with an evening meal and glass of white – on the house -– if you want to be in this area please do not hesitate to stay at the Grove –FREE WI-FI and a superb breakfast included - Parking is on street and it gets busy but I had no problems. Will use again, highly recommended.
- Helen (10/5): You'll be in for a very warm welcome here! - Hazel is the loveliest Landlady ever! Made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble.
- A D (10/5): The Grove Guest House. - Went to the O2 for an event and stayed at the grove guest house, very handy ,good price and lovely relaxed surroundings.Hazel was lovely and had a great one night stay-would recommend and use again :-)
- Robert (8/5): relaxing - very helpfull nice atmosphere very nice stay
- Catriona (10/5): LOVELY WELCOME - I've travelled a great deal in my working life, all over the globe and stayed in some lovely (and not so lovely!) hotels. I booked The Grove not having read any of the previous reviews. Hazel is nothing short of wonderful. End of. I have never received a better welcome at any place I have ever stayed. Nothing is too much trouble and she made my three night stay an absolute pleasure. Bed was soooooooo comfortable! Do not book The Grove if you are expecting a "standard" London hotel or guest house - It is way better than that. I will definitely re-book when I am next in London. One last thing though Hazel..... You could definitely put your prices up, stop selling yourself short :-)
- Jill and Dave (10/5): Unbeatable value and top hostess - Over 6 weeks and more than a dozen BnB's, guesthouses, hotels and hostels, we found Hazel's 'Grove Guest House' to be an outstanding stay for value for money and a friendly, warm welcome. Our hostess, Hazel, genuinely likes people and generously shares her home with them. When I arrived I had undergone some tummy problems in France and Hazel made particular efforts to ensure that, despite the shared bathroom we had booked, we had the use of toilet and bathroom to ourselves(this, I suspect, may have been at some inconvenience to herself). She was a great help in organizing a one- day (self guided) tour that took in many of London's sights yet still considered our budget. Her knowledge of London and, particularly, the East end is unequalled. And her hot cooked brekky each morning gave us a great start to the day (Yum, the porridge!)Thanks Hazel.
- Chris (10/5): Grove Hosue is GREAT! Very Cozy & relaxing - The stay was nice - clean, down to earth and best bargain in UK - Would reccomend to anyone - worth a visit - close to train station
- Jenny Steve (8/5): Lovely Hostess - We stayed here for three nights and were very impressed by how helpful the hostess was. She went out of her way to drop us and our luggage at Stratford so it was easier to manage our bags and was really lovely. She really made us feel at home.
- Terry (8/5): Very friendly host - Hazel was very friendly and organised. She kept me informed when she was out and was accomodating even when so arrived late and we had a nice chat over breakfast.
The room was good size and clean. Generally it was a little too cluttered for my taste but others might like the homely feel if the B&B.
Location is 5 mins from Forest Gate train station but the surrounding area is a bit rough.
Good price for a room in London.
- Jimmy S. (10/5): Warm, cozy and comfortable - Grove Guest House is a great place to experience London just outside the city center. The bed and breakfast is conveniently located near a bus stop that isn't far from Stratford station making transportation a breeze. The hostess is very welcoming and generous with her home, which immediately put me at ease with my decision of where to stay in London. Breakfast is delicious and afterwards we sat in the garden as she provided me with a map and the best use of my time for "MUST SEE" destinations throughout the city.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Home from home - hazel is a very nice lady and looks after you during your stay, very homely
