Guest Reviews
- Hall (9/5): We went to celebrate our 42 w/anniversary. Milly made our day & evening meal & setting very special. - The breakfast was excellent on Tuesday and was ok on Wednesday
The lunch and dinners were excellent
- Briggy (9/5): We were very well looked after, great game drives with some awesome sightings. - Beautiful setting, private accommodation

- Georgia (9/5): Once in a lifetime experience. - Food was fabulous, location incredible (in heart of reserve, very private, lots of non- threatening animals close by). Our safari guide was the absolute best - his love of the habitat, and the animals was palpable. He was flexible, humble and kind and allowed us to fully steep in the awe of being a part of the reserve. I wish I had known schedules (like meals and drive times), and routines (when cleaning happened, snacks, etc) beforehand.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Franziska (10/5): - If you're still thinking about it - book it. Was more than we usually spend per night, but well worth it. Stayed two nights which felt perfect. Amazing tents, we had the forest camp, the whole premises, eating area, hang out spots etc. are just so well thought out and beautifully designed, food war exquisite and the whole staff was so attentive and perfect. Game drives were amazing and our guide was a studied bio-conservationist (hoping im getting this right) and just oozed with both knowledge for animals, flora and the area but also such love and fascination for everything. 100/10.
- Rachel (9/5): -
- Garry (9/5): We had excellent game drives, seeing a lot of game, close up of Lion, Rhino and Elephant - Meals served was excellent, the dinner menu could do with a few more South African dishes, Braai, Potjie, Rooster Bread A small fridge in the room would have been nice
- Julia (10/5): - Everything: game drives, staff, food, accomodation, place Nothing
- Thomas (9/5): Grossartiges Erlebnis, tolle Lage, engagiertes, freundliches Team -
- Nicolas (9/5): -
- Tatum (10/5): Spectacular and unique romantic getaway - The team were incredible. Even though we were there for only one night they made it feel like a home away from home with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The location is also so unique for game drives with the river, and the valleys making it something you’ll only experience at Sibuya Bush Lodge Nothing
- Renata (10/5): - Everything was brilliant !!! From start to finish ❤️
Transfer by boat, staff, location, accommodation, food and drive games with our private Ranger Jay - thank you for unforgettable experience!!!
- karim (10/5): We were privileged! - The nature is stunning !
The team is absolutely incredible !
The food is so good and there’s a lot !
- Alexander (10/5): -
Nichts!!!
- Benedikt (10/5): Sibuya Game Reserve is a truly special place - Sibuya Game Reserve is a truly special place with an incredible atmosphere. The whole experience feels very intimate and authentic, allowing you to see amazing wildlife up close in a very natural setting.
The team on site is unbelievably kind and welcoming and takes care of everything so you can fully enjoy the experience. You can really feel how passionate they are about what they do.
Seeing such incredible animals in this beautiful environment was absolutely unforgettable. If you are looking for a unique safari experience with a very personal touch, this is the place to go. Highly recommended! x
- Keeley (10/5): The best part of our trip - The location and our Ranger, Matt.
- Shannon (6/5): -
Tent was prachtig, zelden zo iets smaakvols gezien
- C (7/5): It was good but have had much better experiences - The safari guides were good and we were lucky with our airings Organisation very poor
- Denise (10/5): Bijzonder - Kerstdagen hier vieren was fantastisch! Alles is goed geregeld. We keken hier enorm naar uit. Heerlijk eten en super vriendelijk personeel!! Enorme aanrader. Heel jammer..
- Megan (10/5): Highly recommend Nel's Lodge - excellent experience - Everything. Excellent staff, great food, magnificent surroundings and amazing game. Nothing.
- august (10/5): Very nice - Perfect Price
- Christine (10/5): Highlight unserer Reise! - Aussergewöhnliche Lodge, fernab von allem. Super Betreuung. Tolle Safari, tolles Zimmer, tolles Essen! Es war alles super!
- Teresa (10/5): We will come back :) - It was really good and I can highly recommend this lovely accomodation. The game drives were stunning (thank you, Mike!) and the staff was overwhelmingly nice! Yes, it’s a little more expensive but compares to other lodges it’s the cheapest and worth every dollar. A bonus: it’s eco friendly :) We will come back! The food could have been better. I told them before that I don’t eat meat and there was no vegetarian option provided. So I could just eat the sides although I paid as much as all meat eaters. Nowadays a vegetarian option should be a no brainer (especially when claimed before). And yes, I asked the staff if there was anything else to eat for me. Since we just stayed for one night it was fine but please think about it :)
- Claudio (10/5): -
- Trevail (8/5): Everything except the food was great! - Lovely tent/room with log burner and plenty of logs for those chilly nights and mornings. Reece, our guide has phenomenal knowledge of plants, trees and animals. He was great fun and never missed an opportunity to tell us something interesting. He seemed to have an uncanny knack of finding the animals so we could just watch them in their natural surroundings.
Probably the best guide we’ve come across in all our years of doing safaris. Thanks Reece! The vegetarian food was absolutely awful. We wouldn’t go back unless it was seriously improved.
- Gillian (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful game reserve, we have visited before and loved it then. Staff excellent and game drives great Nothing to dislike
- Denise (9/5): Very enjoyable -
- Lucy (10/5): Wonderful! Definitely recommend - Fab accommodation and the guides were brilliant. Like coming home!
- Marcelle (9/5): Superb -
- Yvonne (10/5): Difficult to express in words! - Sibuya is a very special place on earth!!
Even the journey by boat is an experience. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the whole team, who are incredibly great. Julie is incredibly lovely and humorous. We were spoiled the whole day, we laughed and sang a lot. The food is delicious and even a bed bottle is provided for the night.
The tents are great and a special experience, the beds are super comfortable.
We couldn't have imagined a better game driver for the safari than CJ. She is such a lovely person and her love for nature and the animals is palpable - she loves her work! she was able to show us and teach us a lot, has patience and a great sense of humor. It was not easy for us to say goodbye. We had a great time at Sibuya Game Reserve and can recommend it 1000% and would book there again!
- Dearbhail (10/5): Magical! - We stayed in River Camp in the most beautiful tents. We adored our time there, the boat journey up the river is a wonderful start. Our game drives were fantastic and Nicolas' passion for his job and his enjoyment of working in nature was wonderful. It was the highlight of our children's holiday and they are still wearing their Sibuya hats! I'd highly recommend it for a family safari experience.
- Nancy (10/5): Miraculous and highly recommended. - What a special time we had, we will never forget our days at Sibuya Forest Camp. The dedication and knowledge of the staff, the delicious food, the drinks, the beautiful and special location plus the wealth of wildlife we saw all contributed. Go if you can!
- Mvuyi (9/5): Beautiful Game reserve in the wilderness. - Loved most of the things about this place. nice place to unwind and appreciate the nature around you; beautiful bushlodge rooms with amazing views, the staff were very friendly, especially our guide, who went all out to make sure we saw all 4 of the BIG FIVE and loads of other animals. I also felt unwell and they provided a paracetamol for me which was a nice touch, The chef was very good with the variety of dishes provided throwing in South African classics like pap too. They advertise fly fishing, but they absolutely do not do it. They have no equipment nor knowledge of fly fishing. The spinning gear they gave us was very old, and one rod did not have very much line on it, so it was kind of pointless. Very disappointing as the potential for fly fishing was one of the reasons we booked this particular trip. We had access to a boat dock for an hour to cast from, but it was not the best area nor conditions. Fishing advertisements are quite misleading.
The staff could benefit from training on wines, I asked for a white wine which I was given at room temp no clue it has to be chilled or brought to you on an ice bucket at least, as it is summer time. There was a Dutch family staying there as well who asked for white wine, and they were given a bottle which had collected dust. When their son opened it, we were all hit by a waft of acidic weird smell. He took one sip, and his eyes watered. Don't get me wrong, the staff immediately changed the bottle, but for the money we spent, we expect a little better service than this. I stayed clear of wine from that point.
- Henk (3/5): Big dissapointment, highly recommend to book elsewhere - Food was great. The animals. Our overall experience was terrible, to name a couple of things: Firstly, the staff was unproffesional and awkward. Especially the guide, he tried talking the guests down. For example, he asked someone what do you do for work? Someone would answer and he would say, i hate ‘the proffesion’. And it was really intense to have to deal with him al the time, as you eat with them as well. The guides were tired all the time. He was sleeping during the Safari. We spotted the animals ourselfs (we thought we were good at it, but we did another safari at another reserve, and turns out we are not that good ;). Then the facilities, it was decent but limited. Not worth the price. For example, the water is not hot, so a warm bath is not an option. And if its raining you get a disposable poncho for the safari without sleeves. All in all its just not worth your money, there are other options which are so much better. We were so tired after this trip, we tried to make the best of it, but honestly it was a big dissapointment.
Go to another accomodation. We were so happy that we booked at Botlierskop private game reserve as well, it is everything you wished for!! And the people and facilities there are lovely. They also take the care and protection of the animals very serious and there is a lot more to see!
- Liam (8/5): Fantastic venue & amazing people but I’m not sure the accommodation itself justifies the price tag - Beautiful game and the staff were fantastic. Matthew, our guide, was a pleasure to be around. He had plenty of knowledge to share and we really can’t speak highly enough of him - he was a big part of making the stay what it was. Food and general organisation ie timings etc we’re all very good. Communal area had a great feel to it and all the vehicles were clean and seemingly in decent condition. Very attentive staff. The accommodation was great but, for the price, having stayed in plenty of game reserves, the room itself was underwhelming.
Vielen Dank!
- Lesego (5/5): Disappointing standard compared to other game lodges that offer the same game viewing experience. - Great views. Excellent ranger Ryan has a lot of animal knowledge All meals were low standard and buffet style. Rooms were cold. No plug points in the tents even though there’s a tea station but no kettle. Mosquito screen door came off and fell. One of the rangers sits and dines at the same table as guests which takes away the guests privacy.
- Fiona (10/5): Magical - Oh my goodness where do I start. This was by far the most magical part of our trip. The stillness, the sightings, the delicious menu, the friendly staff. Definitely want to return. Thank you for amazing stay.
- Linda (10/5): - Amazing experience! Thank you to our friendly knowledgeable guide Ryan.
Beautiful setting, great food, fantastic accommodation, helpful staff.
Highly recommended.
- Marco (10/5): Super Erlebnis - Großartige Safari mit tollen Tiersichtungen, sehr freundliches Personal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pefekte Unterkunft, perfekter Service =100% Zufriedenheit
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in Bush Lodge and it was amazing. Only 4 lodges so never more than 8 guests. Lovely accommodation with communal space for food and drinks which they make look lovely and cosy in the evenings.
Really warm swimming pool, lovely views from the deck of your lodge.
Nothing to complain about here!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The isolation, the great staff and the animals made it a great safari dtay. Not to mention the food and drink
Thank you so much for everything!
- Dermot (10/5): Amazing experience - Our stay was amazing, our ranger Daniel was very informative and keep each us entertained throughout. We stayed in River Lodge, food was lovely, staff friendly, could not of asked for a better experience on our first safari
Fantastische ranger gehad (kent). Iedere euro cent waard. Per dag 2 game drives gehad , heerlijk eten, vriendelijk personeel. Kortom drie dagen met een gouden randje
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!highly recommend to choose shibuya
- John Inge (10/5): Fantastic experiencev!! - This was realy amazing !
Perfect staff, food, and the Game Drives were amazing
Very few people / cars, big areas, and newer lines and waiting.
At some drives we not see any other than us 4 and our great Ranger Kent.
Fantastic range of animals, and close to them.2 drives ( 2 x 3 hours pr day )
All meals amazing, and including drinks very nice
This must be the perfect size of a park.
They take very good care of animals and nature.
We lived in River Camp, with only 4 very comfortable «tents»
- Carol (10/5): Game reserve - Sibuya Game Reserve was set in idyllic surroundings. The "tents" were extremely luxurious fitted with a huge comfortable bed and even a bath. There was also a lovely decking area and a double hammock. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and of a high quality. The game drives were extremely well organised and it was really special to see these amazing animals in their natural habitat.
- Paul (10/5): Stunning - Just the most incredible time. Luxurious, great service and amazing game drives. Sitting in front of a log fire in your room after a day's wildlife watching is truly one of life's great pleasures. Loved this place so much. Can't think how it could be improved
- Richard (10/5): Magical and inspirational safari adventure - The game drives were great, thanks Dave our ranger and guide- very knowledgeable, we saw all the animals thar we have dreamed about, all close up in just 4 drives; all we needed. The arrival by river was magical, check in staff super, the staff at the forest camp were great, super delicious food and the drinks were plentiful from a well stocked bar. Welcoming fire bbq in the evenings. The room was spacious, a tented structure on boards with excellent bedding and plumbing, all excellent and highly recommended.
