Guest Reviews
- Jean-Pierre (8/5): Several beaches that can be reached on foot, Manzanillo is my favourite - Breakfast is not included.
Hotel has only 5 rooms, no pool, no tv, no outside shower, no drinking water included.
Garden is a little paradise, very quiet, I felt at home
- Karla (10/5): Super recomendable - Todo.

- Martha (10/5): Amazing garden villa in the heart of la Rinconada - This beautiful garden villa-hotel is in the wonderful barrio of la Rinconada, walking distance from beautiful beaches. The garden is home to a wonderful restaurant that is open from 8 to 1, with amazing breakfasts, superb local coffee and fresh juices. The room was super clean and comfortable. Angelica and Ali and all of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
- Nathan (10/5): -
- Keri (10/5): Great stay. If I were to visit again this would be my spot. - The garden was a lovely respite from the heat. The location is also nice as it is close to a swimmable beach.
- Perry (9/5): Short ans sweet. - WE thought the welcome was very friendly. The room was comfortable although a second pillow would have been welcome for each person sharing the bed. The breakfast area looked inviting but we did not partake. The walkway to the room was dirt which was a little uncomfortable in terms of what you were tracking into the room. I would have liked a mat by the bedside to wipe off my feet before getting into bed.

- Mark (6/5): - + Quiet and a short walk to the beach.
- Lots of confusion and stress over payment as it showed on Expedia I had already paid but they insisted I hadn’t. Had to call Expedia and chat with agent online to sort out. Unnecessary.
Overall expensive for what you get - which is essentially a room behind a restaurant, albeit in a nice garden.
- Yolanda (10/5): - Excellent
- Rachel (3/5): Room was lower standard than pictures shown on website - Place to store suitcases not provided
Desayunos deliciosos
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (8/5): Very good - the breakfast was the best in the area that we tried. Lovely atmosphere. Tasty dishes. Lots of local options. Great and friendly staff. Good pricing. The cats use the sand in the common area as litter, and keeping an eye out at night time was sometimes difficult. Had a few 'mistakes'.
We had an unfortunate incident requiring a visit to the hospital at 1am. Sine there is no front desk and no staff on duty at night (which we knew in advance) it would be great if there was a number available to call in case of emergency assistance required.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - A little gem of a place. Fantastic location just two minutes walk to the beach with lots of eating places, shops nearby. Spacious room with its own little terrace, and a beautiful garden. We had a lovely welcome and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. Excellent breakfast too! The only negative I would say is that the air con unit was incredibly noisy - but no big deal as used it sparingly to cool the room and then switched on the overhead fan to keep ourselves cool.
- Christian (8/5): Nice stay. - Nice rustic feel. Lovely vegetation. Good location. The bathroom needs to be more comfortable and modernized. Rustic does not need to feel old and dingy.
- Chela (8/5): - Big ants kept getting into the room and I would have loved if the breakfast was open a little earlier.
- Mark (10/5): Relaxing - Charming garden-like setting; great breakfast in the open air, covered dining area; wonderful service; deeply helpful host, (Alejandra); only a few blocks to many restaurants and the beach
- Teresa (6/5): Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca - The location of the Villa Mozart is excellent, if you want to be in playa Carrizalillo, its 5 min walk to the steps down which are 175 counted. The hotel has 5 bedrooms, I think, small, lots of plants at the entrance and a hidden restaurant. The room has a good size and I has a king size bed. I would just suggest few things. Have water in the room for the guest, it is very hot and water is necessary. There is AC and I got cold at night, asked for a blanket, they did not provided but only another sheet. They could have beach towels for the guest to return, of course, basically, there are little details that will increase it from average to really nice.
- Deborah (8/5): Survived the heat of P. Escondido - Loved the garden and pets 🐱 🦜 🦜 🐈. The restaurant had good breakfasts and other offerings. The balcony room was really nice and shower was great with really hot water, though I didn’t need it much due to the heat. The manager provided special attention to welcoming me and providing information on activities and restaurants on my arrival. It is so very close to the Playa Carrizalillo and good restaurants, I needed nothing else! The oppressive heat and humidity of this locale is serious to consider. The good air conditioning saved me! Everything else was great.
- Jason (10/5): - I missed my flight and needed to find somewhere close to airport, but with very close beach access. The place was very quaint and perfect for my needs. The hosts were very accommodating and nice!
- Roberta (9/5): Very very nice hotel and restaurant - There was a beautiful garden around the entire place and each unit had privacy.. The onsite restaurant drew many people for breakfast and was served in the lovely garden. There was easy access to the business area. The staff was superior. We liked most everything including the very quiet neighborhood. We are old and there beach is below a bluff with 157 steps (or so). We are old so could not access that beach so had to drive to a different beach. Our room was small so very little room to put our luggage.
- Maddy (4/5): Really overpriced for what it is - The room was big and the garden was nice. Extremely overpriced. I also got charged more than it had said on booking.com originally so be wary of this. This was the most expensive place I stayed in my whole trip and it wasn’t worth it at all.
The room smelt quite strange - maybe a bit damp.
Nice to have an outdoor kitchen but it was full of ants which put me off using it.
The staff were nice but on the last day they refused to call me a taxi on my checkout so I had to walk with my heavy luggage in the heat to go and find one. I wouldn’t mind so much if this were a hostel but given how expensive this place was, that’s really really poor service. They were also a bit weird about me saying I hadn’t drunk anything from the fridge in the room and made me go and show them. Again for the price of this place - bit weird.
Overall the attitude at the end left me with a bad taste and I would not recommend.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice staff, good location, nice room, good, tranquil restaurant.
- Katrina (10/5): - We loved our time here. The staff are kind and friendly and the room was clean with good air conditioning. The garden is also very beautiful and peaceful, especially at night, and the property is only a 10 minute walk to Playa Carrizalillo.
- Vanessa (9/5): Hidden gem, beautiful surroundings! - The room was big, clean and comfortable.
The room had a fridge with beverages, to purchase, for our convenience. 10 min walk to a beautiful beach, 5 min walk to some of the best restaurants.
Had breakfast every morning at our hotel, hospitality services was excellent! We absolutely loved all grounds, so green and tranquil, I would highly recommend for someone lookin for a unique experience.
- Garrett (10/5): Fantastic experience - would highly recommend!! - Great location, beautiful garden, and friendly staff. The bed was large and comfortable and having a fridge and some basic kitchenwares was useful. Coffee and breakfast is excellent as well. Would definitely recommend!!
- Zafira (10/5): Great and dreamy place. Tranquil and quiet. Clean and friendly. We loved staying here. -
- Andrew (6/5): Pretty isn't good enough - The bungalow is located in a beautiful garden setting. Esthetically very pleasing. The location is great, about as close as you can get to Playa Manzanillo and right close up to the shopping and restaurants on the main drag in Rinconada. The room was adequately cleaned every day. I'll put it this way: We were paying a 4 star hotel price for what was at best a "quirky" Airbnb or higher end room at an eccentric hostel. The bungalow had maintenance issues. The mini fridge desperately needed defrosting, you couldn't use the freezer. If their goal is "pretty", that just looks bad. Moving to the bathroom, the shower head wasn't working properly and spraying water all over the place. I asked the maintenance guy and he fixed it, in fairness. Kitchen is outside, that's not a problem. The mini stove is operated with gas, we're not used to that and had to be shown how, The stove eventually stopped working. No microwave-in this day and age, a hotel kitchenette with no microwave? They're cheap, even in Mexico. Again, we paid a lot of money, we're not talking about camping fees here. Management was difficult to deal with and ineffectual. Every one of the above issues we brought to management was met with a long discussion and excuses. I speak Spanish, so it wasn't like we weren't understanding each other. The process for defrosting the fridge was so unnecessarily complicated that we gave up on that one. We were issued one large kitchen knife. We asked for a smaller paring knife and the answer was nope, one knife only. Then that knife was so rusted that it fell apart in our hands. We asked a different person, the maintenance guy for a new one and he got us one right away. He was actually reasonable to deal with. The first night watchman was weird and made my wife uncomfortable. One morning, he was operating the leaf blower at 6 am. We complained to the proprietor about him, she looked at us like we were the problem. We were admonished for running air con and fans in 32 degrees Celsius heat. Criticize us? For what we paid? Fix your problems first before you admonish your guests. When we booked, there was a no refunds policy. We had to pay the full amount of our stay when we walked in the door.
- Andrei (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and cozy place inside the garden
- Jennifer (4/5): - Checking in was rough. There was no person at a central location to check us in. The person that eventually helped us did not speak English even though the hotel advertised that English was spoken. This is not a huge deal, but it created confusion. The wi-fi password provided was not up to date. I tried to communicate with the staff, but no one was around and I could only communicate through email to have questions answered. I tried calling, but they told me to work through Whats App, which was not working. All in all, very frustrating.
- José Alberto (8/5): - Bonito limpio y seguro
- Jessica (9/5): A relaxing stay in a gorgeous garden bungalow - We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Mozart y Macondo. It was in a perfect location, just behind the main street in the area and so easy walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and cafes, as well as Carrizalillo beach. Although so close to all of those it was a peaceful and quiet setting and we slept well through the night. Puerto Escondido was hot and humid and this was a lovely, peaceful garden sanctuary to come back to. The grounds are very well kept and a really lovely setting. We also had breakfast in their cafe El Totolote when it was open on our second morning, which was really delicious. We wish it had been open on our first morning too and we had been able to stay a little longer.
Also thank you so so much for your help on my panicked return to pick up our passports!! We weren't able to make as much use of the outside garden facilities as we'd have liked, as there seemed to be some building works going on in a neighbouring property which started between 8-9am. This is of course outside their control. The hammock in our building was also placed quite high, which made it difficult to climb up into.
Quite minor things - overall we really loved our stay.
- Melissa (10/5): The perfect oasis away from the crazy! - An amazing little oasis of calm! The staff were incredible (Ale is the most positive person in all of Mexico!). The garden and breakfast menu is perfect. The room is excellent. It’s away from the crazy side of Puerto (La Punta), and the perfect location to go for runs / walks in safe and quiet areas, with the beach and cafes / restaurants minutes away.
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional in everything - Perfect location; walking distance to beach and to the restaurants; quiet at night; felt very safe Exceptional in every way. Exceeded my expectations; beautiful room tastefully decorated; heavenly garden space at the center with lots of exotic plants; wonderful breakfast area and reading nooks
- Stephanie (4/5): - We lost power during a rainstorm and our room started to flood then a bunch of cockroaches started to come inside due to the large crack between the door and wall of our room. It was an absolute nightmare. We ended up only staying 1/3 nights and moved to a better hotel. The property was also very noisy with loud music. I won't be staying at this hotel again.
- Christoph (10/5): Exceptional - Super close to the playa carrizalilo which is great for swimming and beginner surfers.
The restaurant that is in the same space as the Hotel has fantastic breakfast!
- Amelia (10/5): - All the staff were very welcoming, attentive and informative.
- Matthew (10/5): Serene slice of tropical paradise, amazing staff and incredible food. 10/10 - The property was serene, well kept, and perfectly located. We loved waking up in our beautiful room to tropical garden views! It was just a 30ft walk to a 5-star restaurant in the hotel, and the main road around the corner was filled with incredible shops, food and people. Amazing stay. Everyone who worked there was exceptional. We had a few surprise jungle critters visit us in the room that we weren’t used to.. particularly, some cute geckos that loved to sing at night. It was all part of the adventure for us, and we were fine with it!
- Kaitlynn (10/5): Beautiful little hotel, by the beach and other restaurants would stay - It was beautiful. Felt lonely
- Andrew (1/5): Bad - I had an extremely disappointing experience at this hotel. I booked a room for my father and niece with two beds and specified a check-in time between 8 and 9 pm. Despite having a confirmed reservation, no one was there to greet us upon our arrival. We tried to get in, but everything was closed. We were let in by the cleaning lady as there was no one at the reception.
We waited for an hour before the receptionist finally showed up. After taking our payment, he gave my father and niece a room with only one bed. When I pointed out the mistake that we booked a room with two beds and showed the evidence of our reservation, he claimed it was the only available room in the hotel!
This hotel is not cheap, the same price as all the hotels in the area, and such poor service is unacceptable. I had to move my father and niece to another hotel the next morning, even though we had a reservation for more 2 nights. This caused us to lose money, time, and trust in this place. I strongly advise against staying here.
- Jaime (5/5): Passable -
- Karen (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (1/5): Bad - Close to beach Dirty towels Bo soap
- Isela (6/5): - acogedor
- Carol (8/5): We would certainly stay here again if we are ever in the area. - The room was very comfortable and we loved having breakfast in the on-site restaurant each day. The staff was terrific and the garden had many nice plants and sculptures. Seating in the garden could be improved for more comfort and to make it a more usable space.
- Abby (8/5): Very good - Nice garden, restaurant. No hot water.
- Amaris (10/5): Exceptional - It was a beautiful place to relax in the garden full of plants. We had such kind staff and a 2 minute walk to the beach. I highly recommend!
- Jordyn (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (9/5): Amazing Hosts - Attractive garden bungalows with outdoor kitchen. Steps to Playa Carrazillo and main restaurant street. Best location. Owner, Angie and manager, Roberto, were outstanding hosts. When my Bioluminescent Tour fell through, they personally drove me to the launch point and waited for my 2-hour tour to be completed, to drive me back to the hotel. Restaurant on site 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. I had an excellent experience. Many thanks to my amazing hosts. I liked everything. There was no pool, which I knew...beach was close by.
- Kim (10/5): Comfortable stay in a lush garden - The owners were kind and welcoming with good recommendations on the activities I was planning. The bungalow was amazing, although I only used the outdoor kitchen once. Thicker curtains would help keep the room dark at night, when a string of lights came on outside in the garden for some reason.
- Ken (10/5): Would 100% do it again! - There was a breakfast / lunch restaurant on site and the room was spacious and very clean and comfortable. The location was simply fabulous and close to the best beach and the best strip (Rinconada) for shopping and restaurants. Hard to get in touch with staff if you had questions.
- Andres (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stanislav (9/5): Superb - Very good breakfast, beautiful garden, the hotel is walk-able distance from a beach and restaurants. The room was quiet, specious and clean. The restaurant doesn't work on some random days like - Tuesday/Wednesday
- Alison (7/5): No Frills, Great Location - A nice, big room with good air con and a fan. Plenty of storage. Excellent location on a quiet street with a nearby beach and lots of bars and restaurants. Nice outdoor space in the garden. Cleaned daily. They brought us a bottle of wine to say happy new year. Safe, clean, comfortable, good value. Everything was good, but nothing was amazing. Its a basic accommodation, but that's all we were looking for.
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable - The garden was beautiful and the the staff very kind and friendly. Beach and restaurants are ver close! My room was beside a cleaning room and what looked like a private terrace on the images, was actually a busy restaurant in front of my doorstep - when I asked to change, the owner was incredibly unfriendly.
- Daisy (7/5): Good -
- Pamela (7/5): Good - Angelica and the team were friendly and uncomplicated. You need to pay extra 200/day for air condition, in my opinion this is standard theses days. Without air condition it's impossible to sleep since it's really hot.
- Ibba (10/5): Exceptional - The garden is a little Eden, the plants are beautiful and offer a great refuge when it gets too hot. The beach is right around the corner. The rooms are beautiful and the staff very ready to help!
- Louisa (10/5): This is a nice little area that felt outside of the main drag. - The staff was very friendly. They have a beautiful garden and nice cafe. They are close to the beach and good restaurants. We had a nice balcony. Everything was great
- Clay (10/5): Magical - The staff were such lovely people. All of them. This is very rare. 5 minute walk to a beautiful beach and 5 minute walk to the restaurants and shops
- Paulina (10/5): - Hermoso jardín!
Super tranquilo
- Shane (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): I will comeback for sure 👌👌👌 - Everything, this a farm house!!! So pretty !!! I love nature and animals … the parrot 🥰, margarita the 🐈⬛, and all the People who works there is so kind, Lucy, Ines, Angelica, Victor and Jose Luis … I had a nice stay 💪🙏🥰👍
- Caro-beth (9/5): We had a nice stay at this lovely little hotel. - The hotel is in a lovely garden setting, within easy walking distance to both great restaurants and the beach. The staff was lovely to everyone we saw them interact with on our stay. the little breakfast restaurant on site is good and reasonably priced. The AC worked well enough to keep us cool during the very hot month of May. The room and shower were a little in need of updating.
- Holly (10/5): Very beautiful! - Great location very close to Carrizalillo beach.
- Sara (9/5): Perfect - This hotel is perfect! The staff are wonderful and so friendly, the location is perfect for the hidden gem beach of Puerto Escondido, and it is so easy to walk or take a taxi to other parts. There are some really great restaurants and coffee spots right behind the hotel, and very quick to the airport.
Highly recommend, feels very safe and the garden is gorgeous. The room was clean and so well set up. Bed VERY comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped and hot water shower available. Loved it all. Stay here!
- Leslie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lorenzo (6/5): It was a nice stay but too expensive for the facilities. - This is a quiet place and area.
Near playa Carrizalillo (169 steps to get there and crowded, foreigners and surfers mainly) and Puerto Angelito (idem but no surfers, more families). This is a nice and small hotel. There is no TV at the rooms and need to pay for the air conditioning (200MXN per day, around 10 euros per day).
Simple bedroom: a big bed, a small table and a chair. There is no closet but a bar with 4 hangers.
Too expensive for a bed and breakfast hotel (breakfast is available under payment)
- Carolina (2/5): You get what you pay for - I had to leave after one night. There were too many ants crawling on floor and wall. The hist moved me to the "upgraded" room but it had no AC and still had some ants crawling around. I guess if your expectations are really low it isn't bad. But if you are like me, that likes nice things -don't stay here
- Karla Joanna (6/5): - Excelente ubicación, falta personal de recepción que apoye en check in y check out. No había nadie al pendiente de la llegada en el lugar ni por el resto de la estadía. No incluye servicios como aire acondicionado (va con cargo extra).
- Diana (6/5): - I like that it was close to the beach. I didn’t like that there was no hot water, bugs in the room and had to pay extra for A/C.
- Michel (8/5): Nice place in a great location - This hotel was a good choice for us, as we wanted to stay near Carrizalillo beach.
- the location is perfect - it’s super close to the nicest beach in town, at the same time close to great restaurants and you get the chilled holiday vibe as soon as you arrive
- The room was nice, generally clean and the unexpected AC was a big plus
- Friendly people
- Comfortable big bed
- Beautiful garden, you can see the the gardener is working night and day - I think they should invest in new towels once in a while, towels looked and felt very, very old and frayed (though clean)
- Even though the letter in the bathroom says you can get towels exchanged, we wouldn’t (cleaning staff would just pick them off the floor again and hang them outside)
- There was no towel rack or any place to hang the towels to dry inside, which should definitely be there considering the towels are going to be reused for multiple days
- also, proper beach towels would be great
I think it’s fine if they don’t do towel exchange, but they should communicate it clearly.
- Sonia (6/5): Pleasant - The location of the place is very good. There are a lot of cool restaurants in walking distance as well as the beach. The property is well maintained and has a lovely garden. The breakfast at the restaurant is so good! The bathroom smelt really bad and it was not possible to get rid of the smell. The staff was pretty unfriendly. The Wifi is bad also. All in all it’s not food value for your money!
- Helen (6/5): good hotel, low key service fantastic area close to beach and restaurants - garden was lovely room was a bit basic
- Francisco (10/5): Beautiful room, comfortable beds - Nice facilities, full of plants We were charged for A/C and it didn’t work for a couple of days
- Kathy (10/5): Delightful! - Villa Mozart is a beautiful little hotel set in a unique tropical garden! The owner and staff were extremely kind and helpful! Bedroom was clean with tasteful decor. The whole property is very well cared for with a welcoming atmosphere!
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - always the staff. they are what keeps me coming back over the years. cost of the rooms are extremely above market value. also booking could do a better job including breakfast in the stay cost
- Kelly (3/5): Poor -
- Samuel (10/5): Amazing staff, delicious breakfast! - The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. My girlfriend and I arrived with terrible food poisoning and they went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Especially Delfina, she was super lovely and looked after us! The breakfast was also fantastic Nothing
- Ulises Emmanuel (4/5): - Me están cobrando triple
