Guest Reviews
- Kristelle (10/5): Beachfront perfection. - Best location. Peaceful. Spa facilities excellent. Nothing, it’s perfect.
- Anna (9/5): - Location! Unique look, additions like sauna, spa, massage option).
- Troy (10/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Our stay was so enjo in this little retreat. Nunja is a very personable and responsive caretaker - A secluded little gem. Being right on the ocean was idyllic. The sound of the ocean at night was perfect The problem with the lighting outside on the garden path up to the beach, causing a fall walking in the dark.
- Karen (9/5): Traumhaft gelegen.
- Kate (6/5): A great location, needs some TLC. - Location and the check in service was great. Cleanliness
- Hana (10/5): -
- Hannon (10/5): Amazing accommodation!! - Beautiful accommodation - beautiful views of the sea from the communal areas & easy access to the beach. The. Spa was great and I particularly enjoyed using the steam room. Luke was particularly helpful with any questions and navigating all the great features at Shambhala - I can't thank Luke enough for making it the best stay so far in Australia.
Wonderful rooms, beautiful setting and great location - would highly recommend.
- Helga (10/5): -
- Ward (10/5): -
- Will (8/5): A site of 4, well located, beachside cabins that are a little worn around the edges. - Great location just next to the beach. We chose the location in the knowledge it was a short walk to town and didn’t regret our beach walks. The manager Luke was fantastic at making us feel welcomed. Comfortably practical, with a nice balcony next to the bedroom. The cleanliness wasn’t fantastic, lots of dust and cobwebs. Whilst this was advertised as a private stay, people were still able to see in and many of the facilities were still shared. Whilst a few of the reviews mentioned outdated, I feel like the value for money was lower than other places we’ve stayed in.
- Walker (9/5): Fantastic - The gardens were beautiful as was the beach. Location was great, staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Amie (10/5): -
- Belinda (8/5): Great stay, great location with great facilities - Great location, close to the beach and a short drive or walk into town The steps to the beach has a very long drop which made it difficult for my elderly mum to go to the beach. Would recommend the property address this to make it safer to access the beach
- Tina (8/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - The atmosphere and location was amazing.
The whole relaxed vibe was better than anywhere I’ve stayed.
The appartments were breathtaking, felt like another country. Nothing, liked everything about the place.
- Rupinder (10/5): - Overall good experience except cleaning
- Pamela (9/5): Bliss in Byron - Shambala is an absolute gem of a property set in a divine landscape emanating serenity and yet so close to the beach, restaurants and cafes. The The only annoyance is the loud footsteps from the villa above. Perhaps some floor coverings upstairs would muffle the noise.
- carolyn (8/5): -
- Baynie (7/5): Generally happy but it is overpriced for the condition it’s in. Only saving grace was the staff and the view. - The location is amazing and being dog friendly was fantastic but the part was the staff. Luke at the team were brilliant. It’s tired and in desperate need of a facelift.
- Eva (8/5): - Excellent location, private beach access & only 25-minute walk to Byron. Lovely staff & amenities. Perfect for a peaceful weekend away in Byron!
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Renae (9/5): Amazing - We absolutely loved the location. Very central to Byron and we loved the private access to belongil beach at the back. The sauna and steam room made our stay that extra nice. We loved everything about the place. Very zen and rainforesty feels at the entrance and garden and the beach at the back. Just perfect! There was nothing to dislike.
- Yasmin (8/5): Amazing location, very lush settings, nice accommodation. - Amazing location, on a very beautiful beach and an easy walk to town (15-20mins). Nice accommodation although a bit tired and quite small, but all good enough. Nice to have our own hot tub and the shared steam and sauna. We stayed in the two bed place, was a bit small and a bit tired, but worth it for the amazing location.

- Debomitra (6/5): Good -

- Yasmin (10/5): - Beautiful location and the place was so nice. We loved staying there and would love to go back again! Nothing negative to say.
- Kim (9/5): Relaxing, restorative and re-energising 💕 - Was a beautiful environment and we loved being so close to the beach Could do with a few more spaces to hang towels inside
- Christine (10/5): -
- Ellis (10/5): Just marvellous! - All of it , accommodation and location were perfect Wish I’d stayed longer
- Melinda (10/5): Calming, relaxing and private xx - Shambala is like being in an oasis on your own, quiet, peaceful soo relaxing with your own jacuzzi and the steam room/sauna it has everything you need you don’t even have to leave the resort except for buying food and treats down at local Byron shops, that you wouldn’t know your so close to Byron Bay just a 15 min stroll down the beach to the action. We have stayed for 3 years running and just booked for next year, I’d say there ain’t anything we don’t like and everything we do like!
- Abigail (10/5): - Magic place
- Megan (5/5): Not great value for money, needs to be cleaner - Enjoyed the hot tub, steam room and sauna, easy access to the beach. Host was helpful to quickly change the gas as it ran out on our first night. Inside the house wasn't clean (lots of cob webs, dirt on floor). Kitchen was not well stocked (no chux cloths, no oil or salt). In the mini fridge there is a very small freezer space at the top, however the freezer was broken. No where at all to hang towels - no place to dry bath towels or beach towels.
- Gladys (10/5): Perfect, we will be back - Rhi and Amanda were so lovely. The location is perfect. We were able to walk down the street to a spot where we had a nice lunch. A few mins drive into town too, also walkable. We stayed over a weekend in the Sarita. It was such a beautiful stay. The house exceeded our expectations and everyone was very happy with the stay and facilities (especially the sauna, private spa, steam room and outdoor showers)We really loved the oasis you created and we wish we could have stayed longer to unwind some more. Thanks again
- linda (3/5): - The location Dead cockroaches, not all lights worked, people outside talking, leaf blower in the early morning, not enough room to manouver between bed and door to get in and out comfortably. Not worth $1300 for 3 nights.
- Ilario (10/5): Relaxing - Treehouse Restaurant for breakfast only 5 minute walk
- Jacqueline (10/5): 2 nights in paradise ! - We loved the peace and tranquility. Being right next to the ocean and hearing the waves at night was amazing. No, it was all just perfect
- Sarah Jo (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): -
- Alicia (10/5): Absolute bliss in a beautiful location - This property is in a spectacular location, overlooking Belongil beach. They have set up great day beds to make the most of the view and sitting here with a glass of bubbles is actually the best. The gardens surrounding the apartments are beautiful and you feel like you've wandered in to Bali. The apartment has everything you could need- it's not super fancy but the location and gardens make up for it. We used the steam room, sauna and spa, which were a lovely little perk to the place. The wifi doesn't work well, and there's minimal phone reception. Which didn't worry us much, as we were trying to switch off and relax, but if you needed to get something done online you'd probably need to sort something different out.
The TV in the bedroom also didn't work- again, it didn't bother me, but some people might like to watch things at night.
- Nadia (10/5): -
- Melissa (10/5): -
- Sarah (5/5): Rustic charm right on the beach with comfy beds however the property is dated and requires renovation. - This property is in a great location, with rustic charm. The property is tired and bathrooms and kitchen in particular need renovating.
- Alastair (8/5): Lush, fun, quirky. - Aspect and location - beautiful location. Quirkiness, lush vegetation. Friendly welcome. Access to the beach. Design. Bed was huge and comfortable, air con worked well. Beautiful beach walk to Byron Bay. Shanti’s living space was a little small for two couples (we were three people and just about fitted in). (The other apartments are roomier.) The equipment in the grounds (hammocks, beds) was rather worn. The beach is inaccessible when the tide is much beyond low.
- Johanna (10/5): Would come back in a heartbeat! - Absolutely everything! It’s a little paradise
- Wolfgang (10/5): - All Nothing
- Shannette (10/5): - Location , view, plenty of room , facilities. A couple of things weren't working , but was quickly helped to find alternative solution.
- SYED ATAULLAH (9/5): Best experience - Location is great 👍 Nothing to dislike.
- Nicola (9/5): Rainforest retreat by the ocean - Amazing location, felt like a rainforest retreat but also on the ocean and a bike ride to Byron. Will definitely be back Nothing
- Nicole (7/5): -
- Sara (9/5): -
- Ian and Leanne (9/5): Gorgeous treehouse on the beach - Location beach front sound of ocean quiet relaxing close to Treehouse great restaurant coffee can walk into town along the beach in the low tides, smell of the ocean, relaxing lounges, private spa, beautiful grounds Salt and pepper not provided in the containers provided, oil in the kitchen not provided, provision of dishwasher tablets for dishwasher on the premises not provided, steps continuing down to the beach should be implemented for safety
- Karen (9/5): -
- Jane (10/5): - Absolutely spectacular facilities, beautiful beach views and lounge areas. The staff were very responsive and informative The roof angle cuts into the upper floor bedrooms and bathroom so you can walk into it a lot of you're not careful
- David (7/5): Samadi cottage. - Location. Access to a quiet area of beach. The steps ended a couple feet short but no real problem. Spa pool. Dogs are allowed which is silly because they are not allowed on the beach in that area. Not much privacy and it's a long way to the outdoor dining area .
- Cheryl (9/5): -
- Aldo (10/5): -

- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - A quiet oasis, very private and right on beautiful Belongil Beach.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous location, secluded yet close to town. Tranquil retreat style villas, perfect for a quiet girls weekend away!
- James (9/5): Hidden Gem - The location was truly amazing situated right on the beach.
It was really lovely and the attention to the little things like incense was so great. The lounge area needs to be more comfortable.
And it would be amazing if the windows were cleaner 🌸
- Jessie (10/5): Exceptional - The location is magnificent. Staff friendly. Vibe very Byron. Lush gardens. Well kept. Beautiful amenities.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -

- Erin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Great stay & facilities - Excellent very good accommodation very clean
- Jaco (6/5): It was pleasant because of the location. - The location is amazing and the place has a lot of character. The place was not clean and a bit run down. We tried to contact the staff but did not get any response.
- Beresford (9/5): Superb -
- Craig (10/5): Would book again - The shambhala was a beautiful place, great location and fantastic amenities. We loved the private spa, and the sauna and steam room.
- Angela (10/5): Beautiful space that is in harmony with the land it occupies 🌺 - Location!
- David (8/5): Very good - Access to beach, quiet location. Very roomy living area. Adequate kitchen facilities. No pool, though we did know that. No real outside eating area attached to the unit, but a nice table and chairs setting overlooking the beach.
- Michelle (9/5): A fantastic family weekend. - Location was great, access to the beach fantastic, enjoyed the spa tub, sauna and the steam room. Big kitchen with lots of cooking utensils made it easy for a family. The parking was able to accommodate our large vehicle and able to unpack inside the carport (a great bonus with newborn and all the accompanying equipment). Only 500m walk to a great cafe. Would have used a broom to clean up sand that was trekked inside if I found one, not a big issue and no doubt if I had asked there was likely one that I had not discovered.
- Demelza (10/5): Excellent and relaxing - Location and staff Nothing!
- Wennie (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (7/5): Good - No breakfast. Need more coffee for 2 nights.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Natalie (10/5): Fabulous stay in a beautiful location. - We had a wonderful stay at Shambhala. I visited with my partner and dog for 4 days Monday - Friday and we stayed in Shiva the studio. The property is gorgeous, very peaceful, Bali type feel and we loved the steam room and sauna. We were lucky it was very quiet when we stayed so we had the run of the place! The staff were extremely lovely and friendly but without being on top of you and we spent quite a bit of time chilling on the day bed looking out to the ocean. It was a lovely stay and we will stay again next time we are back as I preferred being out a bit from the main town and being at Belongiñ beach as it is just more peaceful 😊. Oh and the bed in the studio is really comfy Nothing I can think of really, it was a lovely stay
- Rosanna (10/5): Exceptional - excellent location right on the beach, the whole atmosphere was great
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suellen (10/5): Relaxing in paradise - Stunning beachfront location with such serene surroundings and beautiful staff to look after you
Absolutely the most amazing stay we have experienced….we cannot wait to return. Nothing to dislike
- Haley (6/5): Pleasant - How close it was to the beach! It was very damp inside and dirty the bathroom leaked and it was very dated. Expensive for what it was but the beach made up for the apartment.
- Ashleigh (10/5): Our new favourite spot! - Beautiful, peaceful location. Gorgeous little villa. Great amenities. So great that it's pet friendly! There seemed to be a fair bit of sand when we entered, but also, it's right on the beach, so sort of expected!
- Michel (9/5): An quiet oasis away from the jostle of town and still and easy access if you want it. -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tania (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (10/5): Awesome stay. Loved our time there. - Loved the location. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough for a short drive into town. Peaceful vibes. No pool.
- Simone (10/5): A magical treehouse in the lush bush with beautiful nature and animals with the best of both worlds beach and bush - The love that’s put in, beautiful trees, stunning location directly at the beach front. Staff was excellent and great communication. Also it is dog friendly and amazing facilities I like it all!!
- Anne-marie (8/5): Fantastic - Absolutely loved it can’t wait to be back Just a few thing that needs a bit of attention. But overall everything else made up for it
