Guest Reviews
- Gethyn (4/5): Overpriced haveli in a town not worth visiting - The haveli looked lovely in the photos, but in reality was tired and in need of a refresh. I stayed off season (July) and was the only guest so in fairness the place had little atmosphere because of this. It was overpriced compared with other havelis I have stayed at (Rs3000 compared with Rs2000 for much better places). The room was large, but very basic indeed with no wifi, decent TV channels, tea/coffee facilities, etc.
It was almost an hour's drive from Bundi and there was little or nothing to see in Kota and I wish that I had stayed in Bundi instead.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dangerous building site - The best thing about this hotel is that I only stayed here for less than 12 hours.
On arrival, there was nobody around except the construction workers and one of them was kind enough to go and look for the owner. I then discovered that I would be the only guest in the haveli as they were in the middle of renovation (a much needed one). In the photos on the website, there are a couple of the courtyard. What is missing is the white dust that covered all the vegetation and furniture.
Since I was unlucky enough to be there in the middle of this renovation, there was no a/c in the room. The outside temperature was 30C and the only thing that was working was a really loud fan that provided little relief from the heat.
Neither was there phone service or a working television. The towels in the bathroom had some black finger/hand prints on them and the toilet didn't flush properly.
The biggest drawback to this sorry experience was the clear dangers guests were exposed to during the renovation. The owner showed me to my room on the first floor. This was up a newly completed marble flight of stairs that had NO handrail or banister and 10'+ drop on one side.
This is definitely one hotel I would NOT recommend or ever stay in again.
- Solo traveller (8/5): Delightful - good, friendly staff and owner, a delightful family home, pretty buidlings and courtyards. nice old furniture in room tasty home cooking with a variety of dishes, good service.
only criticism - in inside dining room, very dirty tablecloth!
