Guest Reviews
- Lindsay (10/5): - Best motel backpackers been too easy going after hours the best thank you for the stay I couldn't stay longer fund wise
- Chadia (5/5): -
- Jobish (3/5): -
- Matyas (1/5): Avoid, avoid, avoid - Absolutely nothing The pictures in the ad are probably from the 90s. Starting from the reception, every corridor is just full of clutter and dirt. The kitchen is an absolute nightmare. The "social areas" are untouchable. We paid 124 AUD for a double room, which was dirty and probably hadn't been cleaned for a while, with a fresh pee mark and God knows what else on the toilet. We had to Hoover and clean the whole thing before we walked in. Doors and windows can't be locked. All the bins are full of questionable stuff.
The place shouldn't be used as accommodation and needs to be shut down.
We've stayed in a fair amount of hostels around the world, but honestly, I've seen better-looking homeless shelters than this.
- Annice (1/5): DONT STAY HERE - Nothing This place should honestly be shut down.
When I booked on booking.com and looked on other sites - the majority of photos provided weren’t even of this hostel. The photos that actually were, are obviously from when they first opened.
Cleanliness… I doubt they even clean at all - filthy floors, dust absolutely everywhere, cobwebs, stains on sheets, black mould in bathrooms. I hadn’t even stepped foot in the common areas apart from the kitchen (cockroach infestation) as I didn’t even want to know how much worse it could get.
Upkeep… Broken toilets, sinks, mirrors, cracked walls, torn carpets, AC units that look like they’re from the 1900s (don’t work). It’s got it all!
Additionally it’s too noisy, the rules(the few that actually exist) aren’t kept to, can’t access the Wi-Fi and the dryer doesn’t work. Oh and they also don’t have washing lines so you have to hang your undies over the balcony.
I tried getting a refund since we had left after just one night out of the seven we were supposed to stay for. They said I would have to speak to a manager, who wasn’t on shift so I asked they ask him to call me later that day. To my surprise - heard nothing. Tried calling multiple times, emailing, messaging and they are ignoring me.
Unfortunately I am not able to say what I really think of this business and the people who “run it” as unfortunately this review will probably be taken down :)
Don’t waste your money.
- Lachlan (1/5): - That I got to stay at a friend's house for 3 of the 5 nights This is not a place of Hygiene or security or even sleep. Their mattresses are old and collapsed. Their walls are paper thin. Their door locks and hinges are all compromised, the room smelt like weed. The mirrors were filthy and if you love a true and godawful health hazard then walk into their bathrooms with exposed wiring hanging from broken lights which are above the shower. The shower itself is a tetanus and athletes foot all by themselves with brown stains, tar black grout and mould just waiting to send you into hospital,. The kitchen had cockroaches and rats. The food storage area is cross contamination in a fridge just waiting for you to feel like a an atomic bomb of brown expulsion and their toilets are just as bad as the showers. This place needs to be shut down. Oh and whatever rules you think hey have about curfews and the like? They won't uphold them so be prepared to have a party outside your window until ram while you try to sleep with an aircon unit that isn't plugged into anything and has nowhere to plug it into.
- Sarah (5/5): -
- Gwladys (6/5): - There are cockroaches all over the kitchen
- Barney63 (4/5): - Position in the city. Close to public transport and coffee shops. Having to sleep in a room full of smoke. I'm allergic to cigarettes.
- chiquinha (7/5): C’est pas le lieu mais les gens qui y sont qui est insane - Les personnes Les cafards dans la cuisine
- Martin (2/5): - Cheap
- Camila (1/5): - Everything was terrible. All dirty. Cockroach to everywhere. Fungi on the bathcurtains. 🫣
- noel howard (2/5): Never Again - Nothing. The place was worn out and filthy.
- Allen (6/5): - You get exactly what you pay for
- Peter (10/5): -
- Johnston (1/5): Needs to be shut down and taken off booking sites - Shocking. The pictures are all from previous decades.
Arrived into a fairly standard looking lobby, and of course asked to pay up front, only to be brought into a complete dump of a place. Mess everywhere. The kitchen was crawling with cockroaches all over the walls. Filthy everywhere else. Smoking cigarettes and weed directly outside rooms, and alcohol cans and bottles outside everywhere. Bedroom stunk of mould, humid, dripping shower, filthy bathroom, black mould on curtains, walls rotting from the shower, dirty old towels, God knows what else.
How this place is allowed to operate and charge good money for rooms, I don't understand. It shouldn't even be allowed on booking sites like this one.
- Donny (2/5): - Shi5 hole dirty, needs to be knocked down ,not fit for busuness As Above
- Mats (1/5): -
- Zheng (6/5): -
- Jeftha (1/5): Health and safety risk - The people It was absolutely unhygienic and a health and safety risk in every possible way.
- Marco Rosa (5/5): -
- Alessio (8/5): -
- Alphonse (10/5): -
- Mick (1/5): Unprofessional. No ethics. Unreliable. - Nothing. You cancelled my room because someone else wanted it and forgot to book.
Can't trust your booking! Go elsewhere to guarantee a bed.
- Martin (2/5): -
- Cléo (6/5): I don't really recommend if you want something calm - Room for 4 people, decent and large bathroom Noise until 5 a.m. (loud music + chatter), they smoked on the terrace so the smell came into the rooms, damaged door lock so it was difficult to open the door.
- Menges (8/5): -
- Hannah (8/5): -
- Ligia (2/5): Horrible hostel , avoid at all cost - Maybe the location It was incredible dirty !! Like horrendous I thought I was in India ! Horrible so dirty and old
- Tony (8/5): -
- Lisa (1/5): The conditions were far below standard, unhygienic, and absolutely not as advertised. - Nothing in particular. Only the location was convenient.
I can't tell much of what I liked since, the only good thing was the bus stop just in front of the hostel, also a coffee and IGA shop were right next to the accommodation. The property was in unacceptable hygienic conditions: dirty floors, strong unpleasant smells, and poorly maintained areas everywhere.
The photos on Booking.com are completely misleading. The actual state of the property looks nothing like the images advertised, which feels dishonest and deceptive.
I felt extremely uncomfortable staying there due to the lack of cleanliness and maintenance.
The quality of the accommodation does not meet even the basic standards expected from a hostel.
- Scott (10/5): - Great location. Shops nearby. Great vibes from.other residents. You gotta be a little open to appreciate this place.
- Gerrad (3/5): anything would be better. avoid. - not much to like. it was kind of cheap but not even. a dump
- Melissa (4/5): Nice place, Nice location, could be cleaner - The hostel is in a really good location and the receptionist was really nice and helpful. The hostel organized parties when I was there so there is a really nice social atmosphere. Definitely upgrade the cleanliness of the place. I only saw one room which was mine so I don’t know about the others, it could be because of the other persons that were staying in the room, but the floor was awfully dirty, the room was disgusting. And it was the same for the bathrooms.
That’s the only point
- Chiangting (3/5): - 糟糕 住了兩晚 第一天冷氣是壞的 還是中央控制的 房間連電扇都沒有,另外告示是整屋禁止吸煙,結果二樓有人吸煙 反應過了有沒用
- Jamie (10/5): - Party lifestyle No bbq
- Felipe (2/5): -
- Sunghun (3/5): -
- anias binti (2/5): - The place is close to food shops / restaurants. The room was dirty, and the bedsheets looked like they hadn’t been changed. It was noisy until dawn, even though it’s clearly stated that noise is not allowed after 10 p.m. My rubbish bin was full twice and I put it outside, but it was never collected. Many people were smoking, and the smell of weed was extremely strong.
- Nicolas (8/5): - Staff and people staying Cleanliness
- Daniel (7/5): - Very affordable and Close to the city Can get noisy
- amanda (1/5): inconsiderate ,abusive and forced me back into homelessness. - n/a the owner refused to let me stay despite having a confirmed booking , he said I had too many bags.
- Melissa (5/5): - Good location
Friendly staff and other hostel users Didn’t feel clean
At time of stay dryer not working, minimal place to hang clothes
Room stank of cigarettes
- Sarah (1/5): Would not recommend. - Good location Everything was dirty. Both rooms I stayed in, the common areas, the balcony. I felt pretty uncomfortable. Luckily I was travelling with a friend, I would not recommend to solo females. Strange vibe.
- Ping (1/5): I tried to stay in the room for 3 hours. But it smells too bad. I had to escape. I ended up booking another hotel that n - None This place is filthy. Our bed was not made. The toilet still has poop from previous customers. Bathroom floor was wet. Bathroom door was broken, shower water constantly leaking out and wet the carpet in the room. The room is mouldy everywhere and smell very bad!
- Langer (5/5): -
- Heard (7/5): -
- Andrea (1/5): I love staying in backpackers and hostels, but this was the worst. - Location was the best thing going for it. When the staff were present, they were lovely. Make sure you organise for a key to be left out if arriving out of hours. Hard to contact directly. We were assured there would be someone there at 10pm, but could hear the phone and mobile ring on the desk on arrival. Another guest let us in. We let other guests in the next night for the same reason.
Bathrooms are mouldy, unclean, and in massive disrepair.
Bed is super saggy with probable bed-bugs. We felt itchy.
Zero soundproofing and place has rubbish in all common areas like an unkempt sharehouse.
- Pietro G. (1/5): -
- Geneva (3/5): Frat house disguised as a hostel. Staff very nice, but cleanliness and facilities horrible. -
- Atique (8/5): -
- Quang (3/5): - Dơ
- PARANKUSHAM (7/5): -
- Leah (1/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL. - There is nothing positive to say about this place. This place was so disgusting that we walked straight back out the door and did not stay there. It is FILTHY. Every room smells like body odour. The rooms are tiny and there are no working lights in the rooms. The keys to the rooms do not work and you have to barge the door in. We were not asked for passports on arrival, so anyone could be in the rooms with you. The beds didn’t even have mattresses on when we arrived and the stag member said they’d go and fetch one from the back room. The other beds were not made. There was a vent in the room where there was a pigeon defecating and cooing, which was echoing around the whole room. The carpets were not hoovered. The bathroom was covered in black mould and the floor had not been wiped. There were used razors all over the floor of the shower and mounds of hair in the plug holes. We have been trying to get a refund from the hostel for over a month now and booking.com customer service has been no help whatsoever. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, especially if you’re female or travelling solo. I hope this place gets shut down.
- Libi (6/5): - La ubicación y el personal Los baños en si toda la instalación no estaba limpio
- Shahbaz (6/5): - Location Not that clean
- Edwar (1/5): -
- cecilia maria (4/5): -
- Ruiz (8/5): El lado oscuro - Lovely people, the manager is so nice. I had i really good experience there, beautifuls parks around, the location is grate. Nice stories and memories, just two nigths but amazing moment. The Srokes! My roomate was snorking a lot, so bad haha.
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Stephane (9/5): -
- Bhupen (1/5): -
- ANDREW (10/5): The hero or hostels. - The vibe, the staff, not a bad little bit of town and helpful towards anything that may need help or info on what where and when while in South Australia. I would recommend this place to anyone who wanted a stay to feel as safe and as welcoming as what it is at home .
- Vivek (10/5): -
- Archie (1/5): Treat yourself - Nothing Dirty, smelly, not clean at all - hairs and dirt in bed, room not vacuumed, and it might be a homeless shelter. When trying to get a refund it was almost impossible, the smelly manager promised me I would get one but then when following up to him by text he just always blanked me and never replied. Luckily the owner answered the phone and gave me one in the end, although it wasn't full and still required me chasing it up about 5/6 times. Don't stay here, please treat yourself to something better.
- Chantel (2/5): - Friendly staff Not clean, didn’t feel safe, smelled of smoke, dirty, beds not comfy.
- Lucia (2/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Sara (6/5): - Location
Terasse
Staff Not clean enough
- Tatiana Baudean (8/5): Perfect! - I don’t know where the bad reviews come from. I’ve paid quadruple to stay on ratty as hotels in the city- you get what you paid for, and for what I paid the bedding was clean, mattress was comfy, bloke at reception was super nice and helpful, and the location was great
- Natalia Velazquez Ramos (1/5): HORRENDOUS - Filthy and old building The owner/receptionist insisted the guests to get drugs at the balcony. The guests were feeling uncomfortable and he kept on insisiting. The place was filthy.
- Clydell (6/5): -
- Carolyn (8/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of there way to make sure any issue was addressed and fixed
The location was brilliant for our hospital visit.
We would stay again if needing to Parking is very limited as those who stay a while take up 5 or the 6 parks. Just something to be mindful of parking is very limited
- Uriah (1/5): - No contact at all Eveything
- Davey (7/5): - The atmosphere Some of the people were rude
- Jesús (8/5): -
- LI-CHUAN (8/5): 整體來說很優秀 - 位置好、櫃檯人員友善 環境可以再加強會更好
- Tracy (3/5): Poor - Bunks are cheap and uncomfortable - think rickety. Mattress thin, could feel bars under mattress. Bathroom in room out of order, shared bathroom dirty
- Warren (6/5): Cheap to stay but lacked basics and not too clean - Good location and friendly staff, very affordable Property was a little run down and not very clean. Lacked basic things like lockable lockers in dorms for valuables.
- Kerith (4/5): an adventure - good precinct unable to find suitable sleeping arrangements
- Izaya (6/5): Good - Was good The snoring at night
- Scott (1/5): I don’t recommend - Location Plumbing in shower dropped all night long .tv on loud from next door started at 9pm finished 6am. Lots of long term stays that seem more low income than travellers.
- Tamara (7/5): Good -
- Madeleine (3/5): Poor - The only hostel I've ever stayed in that was dirtier and smellier than this one was in the middle of the Brazilian jungle
- Tamara (7/5): I'd stay again. - The shower was amazing and I liked the location.
I was offered an unconventional parking space when all others were taken.
Being away from the main drag was good because there's some strange people in the centre of town. The bed was pretty uncomfortable, but I have injuries so not the places fault.
No matter where you watched the TV from, it hurt your neck as its too high.
- Nancy (8/5): Very good -
- Rahul (3/5): Great people, great vibe, nothing works, and if you're a digital nomad, this isn't a habitable space - The place was a vibe. Great to meet people, and the staff for the most part are really lovely and go out their way to help you. Also in a great location! There was 3 showers & 3 toilets & a tiny kitchen for 50 people. If you book a private room with a shared bathroom, you're right on the public balcony where people can be up drinking till 7am, or up to start drinking at 11am. The air conditioning couldn't be turned off in my room and sounded like a vaccum cleaner.
The wifi simply did not work, nor extend to my room which as a digital nomad created a bit of chaos in my life as I had to find accomodation with wifi for meetings for work (I live in the UK, so those meetings were often after 11pm). After asking politely if they could move further down the balcony, one guy really kicked off with me. Was pretty raging to find out later in my stay he was a staff member who was staying in the private quiet zone.
If it wasn't for the fact every other staff member was lush, and the people in the hostel were for the most part great, I would have given this a rating of 1.
- Sayer (1/5): Terrible - Old, run down, noisy, poorly maintained. The room had a dodgy lock on the door, the light in the bathroom didn’t work, the carpets were worn through, the lampshade was falling off and was covered in dust, the whole place needed a paint.
- Jane (9/5): Excellent and will come again - Great location, great value for money, very friendly staff No bar fridge in the room
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Close to buss deppo on franklin st.Thai Restaraunt next door and a 7 11 store other side.
- Tricia (4/5): Great staff but the hostel needs maintenance and renovation work. - The staff were great The room was terrible. The bathroom door wouldn't close and the room was damp. Basic things seem to be missed such as towel hooks or rails and tv remotes.
- Unwin (2/5): Very poor -
- Simpson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (1/5): Yeah nah. - The man on the desk was polite at check in. All around dirty. The building interior seemed like it was falling apart. The bedsheets smelled like they were smoking 40 a day.
- Micaela (7/5): Good - Location was incredible. Easy access to public transport (bues and trams). Easy walking distance to the botanical gardens and market. Accommodation was nothing flashy but exactly what we paid for. Great staff.
- Nattakorn (7/5): Good -
- Ashley (1/5): Unfortunately Would Not Recommend this Stay - Location is great - Room was very unclean with large patches on black mold throughout the bathroom, splatters of toothpaste, a used old soap bar provided and more.
- Room was so dusty it was difficult to breathe at first
- Surrounding common areas were also unclean and cluttered
