Guest Reviews
- Geoffrey Paul (10/5): - Excellent hotel very clean very comfortable good buffet breakfast great for a stopover travelling through France
- Marian (8/5): - Thanks to Eddie !
- James (10/5): Prime location, minor fixes - We stayed here for an overnight stop during a long trip. The location is excellent, conveniently close to stores and restaurants, and parking was hassle-free. The reception staff were friendly, helpful, and made both check-in and check-out quick and easy. The room was comfortable and provided a good rest after a long day of travel.
However, the hotel could benefit from some maintenance, and the breakfast offering could be improved in both variety and quality.
- Bryn (6/5): - You get what you pay for,......... so no surprises at all.
- mohamed (10/5): - We stayed here many times when traveling through France
- Ana (8/5): - Good for a roadside stopover. I understand it is good for the Futuroscope. Room overlooking the highway, but no noise if you close the window. Good blackout curtain. No extra pullows.Toilet runs a good 10 minutes after flushing, lol!
- Helen (10/5): - Excellent as always
- David (8/5): - Good hotel for stopping on the road
- Ian (10/5): - The late check-in and secure on-site parking was very helpful. The room was large, quiet and the beds comfortable.
- james (10/5): - Have stayed before in this hotel. Never had any problems.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Often stay here Very helpful friendly staff
Room 02 needs the cold water supply checking as only a dribble will come out the tap!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Always good at Ace Hotel Poitiers
Very nice, helpful friendly staff
The cold water tap had no pressure and only running at a slight trickle! Room 02
On the ground floor!
- peter (8/5): - Normal budget hotel all ok
- Robert (10/5): Great value comfortable and animal friendly. - Great car parking friendly and efficient reception. Good sized room and en suite- clean and comfortable. Quiet.
- Gemma (10/5): - Great travel stop hotel, highly recommended, over the years we’ve tried all the chains in this price range and in my opinion is by far is the better option, I’d compare it to a premiere inn back home, perfect hotel for resting on route , safe parking, 24/7 check in , comfy room, great shower , vending facilities in reception
- james (10/5): - Stayed here before. Easy Hub for further travel.
- Sue (10/5): All good. - Friendly greeting by reception upon arrival, room nice and clean, all went well. Conveniently located near motorway for onward journey.
- Mohamed (8/5): - Nice hotel for overnight stay
- thomas (10/5): Very good hotel - Very good hotel as usually the ACEs are.
There is a gym opposite the hotel and a restaurant next to the hotel. I really enjoyed my stay.
- Michael (10/5): - Room was clean, comfy large bed, very little noise from outside, pleasant staff, convenient for the hospital. Proper bathroom with toilet , shower and sink.
- Rose (8/5): - Easy place to stay as you drive from one spot to another. Parking free.
- Gordon (10/5): - Love staying here, excellent staff. Good location Dig friendly
- james (8/5): - Nice property. Easy to find on the sat nav. Nice staff. No problems at all.
- gary (8/5): Excellent - Always clean and good for the money.
- Paul (8/5): Very good, nice stay - Staff very good, man on reception spoke excellent english and was very helpful.
- Sheryl (10/5): Friendly helpful staff, comfortable hotel - Location is excellent for travellers needing overnight accommodation but otherwise a bit out of the way. Most things were great but no refrigerator or ice. Staff were friendly and keen to help with requests if they could
- Gordon (10/5): Excellent staff - Enrique & Eddy are amazing staff, we have stayed here often they are incredibly nice helpful guys! We will be back!!
- Carolyn (10/5): - Extremely clean, helpful staff, dog friendly and 2 places to eat close by.
- Gemma (10/5): - Great location, lovely hotel ideal for a stop over, used it many times and will again in the future, comfortable, safe, clean, excellent receptionist, couldn’t fault, highly recommended
- Steve (10/5): Very comfortable & economic stop over - Great value and very comfortable stop over. Very efficient check in with English spoken well.
Simple but ample breakfast for only 7.50 Euros each.
The only negative is that it is remote from the city but there is a restaurant / bar just outside but check it's opening hours before relying on it!
- Dennis (10/5): - Friendly welcome by helpful staff. Very clean and spacious rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stopover - Only over a hedge to a motorway/road but convenient as a stopover
- Laetitia (6/5): - Les chambres qui donnent côté rocade sont bruyante
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Très bien.
Chambre spacieuse et agréable
Bon accueil.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for overnight stop en-route - Good as overnight stop. Like a Travel lodge in the UK, room was pleasant with air-conditioning, towels small and not best quality. Bed comfortable. Did not take breakfast cannot comment on that. A boulanger next door to buy breakfast much cheaper and a small supermarket. Very busy place, a restaurant in front of the hotel but transport required to look for alternatives.
- Linda (10/5): - Extremely good stay but a drive to the town. Excellent restaurant next door. Would definitely stay again
- Tracy (8/5): Comfortable room but hotel a bit out of the way - Basic but nice enough hotel. Bit of out the way but served its purpose.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Like this hotel, stayed there numerous times. But this time we felt some parts are beginning to show wear & tear. Toilets in the last 3 rooms we have had do not flush well. Some air conditioning vents are rather dusty. Other Ace Hotels have BBC1 & 2 channels on TV but not Poitiers! It would be appreciated
- Chandrika (4/5): - This was a last minute booking for 2 Adults because hotels.com messed up my original booking.
The hotel looks fairly new. but not maintained
Our beds looked clean but really Sweaty smelly . and the bathroom again looked clean but smelt badly of urine and shower cubicle corners yellow and mouldy .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The receptionist was very nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good price, large room, good bathroom and shower. Receptionist very efficient, friendly and helpful (Alice).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good stopover point for our journey to spain. Secure parking and friendly staff
- Andrew (10/5): - Great hotel for stopover excellent good value breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was very helpful and friendly. Check in was easy, the room was spotless and very comfortable. Only one negative was that the air conditioner wasn’t very efficient but that could be due to the unprecedented heat. I would certainly stay there again. The restaurant next door was good too.
- Gordon (10/5): Convenient stopover - A convenient dog friendly stopover
- Ian (8/5): - Ideal location and good price for a stopover. Nice breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very positive experience - Very easy to find. The hotel was very clean and bedroom was very comfortable. Very good Wi-Fi. Breakfast was good and excellent value. Receptionist was very helpful and welcoming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In the right place, on edge of town, with plenty of free parking. Very friendly helpful welcome. Rooms very modern, clean & great shower.
Very useful brasserie on doorstep
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Un hôtel excellent
Accueil très bien
Tout était très bien
- Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient, friendly & clean - Good stop over, one night only stayed
Convenient, clean & comfy
No frills but good value
- Jeremy (8/5): - Little difficult to find thanks to sat nav taking us to nearby Hospital but overall comfortable although bathroom needed refreshing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice. The hotel is clean Nd the staff are very friendly.
- gav (6/5): Ok.....ish - Convenient again. Cleanish rooms whilst traveling.
- Francois (8/5): Good value place outside of Poitiers' center - Very convenient, clean, comfortable, good value
- Rosalind (10/5): Recommended hotel - The hotel was very accommodating and understanding of the emergency situation I was in at the local hospital. The hotel was very clean, comfortable and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The breakfast was great and replenished frequently
- Kirsty (10/5): Great little find - We booked this last minute as sadly our father died suddenly in France, and was laying at rest in the hospital just down the road in Poitiers. The staff could not have been more considerate or helpful in the circumstances - allowing us a late checkout as we were not sure if we would get back from doing the necessary at the morgue/funeral parlour/town hall before 12pm the following day. The receptionist then helped us look for the next hotel we needed on our journey down to where our father had been staying near Confolens. Very considerate. The restaurant next door was also very nice.
- Mairi (10/5): A very comfortable overnight stay near Poitiers - Very convenient location for onward travel. Not a lot around it but very convenient for a quiet overnight stay. Very impressed with the size of the room, good natural light, comfortable bed, good supply of hot water, excellent shower, modern & clean. Good choice of breakfast buffet menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel with nice breakfast - Great location when travelling through france. Nice restaurant next door
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice - sans coffee pot - Only real complaint was no coffee maker in room. Staff very friendly and helpful. Easy to find and get to is 6 Km or so from city center.
- Gordon (10/5): - Good value modern stop over
Friendly staff
- Heather (8/5): Good night sleep - The staff was very nice, food decent and beds comfortable. I didn’t expect luxury. I definitly found this hotel to be way better than an ibis.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stop south of town. - Good location, easy to find and very nice restaurant next door. Very clean...good breakfast.
- David (10/5): Excellent hotel - Very easy yo find with good eating facilities next door, clean, tidy and very helpful staff, we will visit again when in the area.
- David (8/5): Poitiers Ace hotel ace. - Had to go to the area for an hospital appointment/eye operation, the location of the hotel was excellent. However there was little by way of interest without getting into the car or taxi to Poitiers centre. The hotel offered an excellent continental breakfast. Very pleasant staff, English spoken.
- Paul (8/5): Poitiers stop-over - Very comfortable short stay hotel: much better than the usual overnight chain hotels in France. Proper bathroom! Good breakfast at moderate cost.
- Brian (10/5): Bbi - Very god all round
- harry (8/5): out of the way location and quite - good place to stay but no local food options on a sunday evening, had to get a taxi into town for dinner.
front desk very helpful
breakfast ok for the money
- gemma (8/5): - Comfortable, clean, friendly. Accept pets but 1hr walk, 10 min drive from city centre so, if you want/need central maybe not the choice for you. We didn't have a problem though
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good stopover near restaurant & supermarket
- Myriam (10/5): Easy to join exit roads when leaving - Just what we needed after a long journey.
Just ace!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Money Well Spent - The hotel is approximately 4 years old, very clean from the carpark and throughout the building. Our room hand air-conditioning facility, was spacious, with very comfortable beds and very clean. Nice size bathroom with excellent shower 🚿. My only observation would be that there was only one bath towel provided, with two of us using the room, but this was neither here or there, a great hotel to which we will be returning every time we visit the area. Oh a the parking facilities were good with security cameras monitoring the area. Thank you for a very quiet and relaxing stay, first rate
- Mal (10/5): Cracking hotel for the price - Clean, neat and very reasonable. 3rd visit. Always good.
- Garry (8/5): Off the highway great value. - It is a basic hotel but nice and new. The rooms have room to move. It is out of town, for people with a car.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Let's stop - I only spent one night on my way to another destination. I enjoyed the clean and spacious bathroom
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and efficient staff, extremely clean, quiet and comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): Just a short overnight stay, fine for requirement - Short visit nothing else to say. Don't appreciate having to put more in here, will not complete if too much info is needed
- Sandra (6/5): - We were just passing through. Sunday everything seemed to be closed. We did find a Leon's for dinner.
- David (10/5): - I stayed in the Ace hotel while visiting my wife in hospital. The hospital is within walking distance of the hotel. There is small supermarket and bistro within the area close to the hotel. An excellent venue.
- Glen (10/5): - Short walk to hospital.
Staff friendly and helpful.
Bed comfortable.
- Gordon (8/5): Good place to stay outside Poitiers city - Nice place to stay, good value, wifi reasonable (free), good sized rooms, you definitely need a car though.
- Judith (10/5): Very comfortable, friendly staff & huge room. - A budget hotel but very comfortable with friendly, helpful staff and lovely breakfast. A great stopover en route to Spain although we would have been happy to stay longer. The room was absolutely massive, much larger than similar hotels. The bed was comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The receptionist was incredibly helpful, suggesting where to park in Poitiers and also recommending a couple of restaurants. It was a fairly long drive into town, certainly not a walk. It was worth it for the secure parking and peace of mind overnight though.
- john (8/5): Wonderful hotel but difficult to find - Enjoyed overnight on route to Paris. Very comfortable room but hotel is extremely difficult to find. Had GPS in rental car that couldn't locate street and local person was not familiar with it either. After much searching, discovered it was near the Military Hospital and GPS took us there. Drove around the area and finally located it.
- David (10/5): Worth visiting - Easily found, good restaurant nearby, very good hotel at reasonable cost.
- Mal (10/5): Simple, good and cheap - Clean and we'll equipped. Close to nice restaurant.
- David (8/5): Poitiers - Overnight stop on way south. Hotel on outskirts and easy to get to and from by car. Restaurant nearby but no choice. Good stopover but lacks charm of city centre.
- John (10/5): Quality and value - Excellent hotel. Friendly professional reception. Premier Inn quality room but cheaper. Clean and comfortable beds. Convenient restaurant next door - good value and quality as well. Close to motorway but quiet area.
- Trevor (6/5): Better than it looks... - First impressions were rather negative - a stark building in a not very appealing location near a busy road. However, the interior made up for this - excellent condition and good quality of fittings. The room was comfortable and quiet despite overlooking the busy road outside - excellent soundproofing. The hotel initially was a bit hard to find and better signage would help, and the location was somewhat out of town but there are pleasant locations nearby within walking distance. Reasonable value for money and worth considering for an overnight stop.
- sue zollman (10/5): Overnight stay - Great for overnight stay and I'm sure good for longer
- ian (10/5): Overnight Stay - Overnight in a historic town in France, en-route back to the UK from Spain. Good value for money, compare well with a wide range of UK chain hotel at significantly lower price
- Julian (8/5): A decent hotel on the edge of town. - A new and pleasant hotel on the edge of town. Secure parking but not much else going on other than a restaurant - bar less than a minute away - ok food. I was staying in Poitier for a week for pilot training during May 2015. The hotel is about 25 minutes away by motorbike from the airport. If you want bars and restaurants you'd be better off staying in the centre of town. If you want a good nights sleep after a hard day, then the Ace fits the bill.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stopover - Stayed on driving stopover. Very clean and comfortable. Small restaurant, supermarket and bank within 1 minute walk. Great for price
- Steve (10/5): Excellent value for money, close to University. - Needed to be near University to assist daughter attending to register. Stayed in French budget hotels before and Wow!! What a find this was, staff fantastic, clean, comfortable beds, TV in room, air conditioning. Cannot praise highly enough. 57€ for 3 people in one room per night!! Bargain totally recommend. Restaurant next to hotel, location great! food not to our taste but good restaurants in town centre!!
- Bostjan (4/5): Rooms OK but WiFi unusable - This hotel in located by the highway and it was a sleepover hotel for us too.
The rooms are nice and clean. They are well sound-proofed from the highway so that is great.
The breakfast was OK and it was great value for the money at 6,40 € / person (just paid 18€ for something not that much better;).
The only issue we had was WiFi.
We were told at the check-in that WiFi will not work as there are many guests at the hotel. But the hotel was at best half-booked. I would understand if it was really fully booked, but that was not the case.
Since I really needed the connection I ended up waiting for everyone else to get to sleep (like 1 am), so that I could do at least the most important things done.
We chose this hotel because it had WiFi. SInce this obviously wasn't a coincidence but a design flaw I'm giving them only 2 stars (for missleading us).
This is decent hotel IF you don't need a WiFi connection.
- Leo (10/5): Very good choice - This hotel is ideal for an overnight stay. It is brand new and very modern and clean. Had a wonderful meal at establishment next door which was very convenient.
- Patrick (8/5): Cheap! Close to the road, close to Poitiers - This newly built hotel was just off the road, in what looks like a newly built area. It's a straight shot into town, too far to comfortably walk. Friendly staff with a generous breakfast, including a boil-your-own-egg device. The room was bigger than usual, with a device on the wall for the key card for the electricity. (It all shuts off when you leave.) The A/C kept the room cold, and free parking was a plus as well. This may seem like a cheap 2 star hotel, but everything seems fresh, new and modern. The elevator is a useful touch, of course. For dinner, you can take your receipt next door for 10% off. This may seem like a cheap hotel, but it's well worth the cheap price as it's all new. We had no issues and would happily stay here again.
- L (4/5): Alarm in middle of night. Not clean. - Alarm in middle of the night without explanation. During alarm staff continued to check guest In at desk instead of assisting or providing safety information to guests. Dead bug on threshold of door to our room. Corners of our room were dirty. The provided pillows were so thick due to repeated washing that one could not use them for sleeping. Room had no toilet paper in it when we arrived. Had to ask for it. Elevator not working and no sign about it being not working until next morning. Beds were fine and clean. Stairwell needed sweeping and vacuuming.
- Sue Z (10/5): Great overnight stop - Although we arrived very late due to drive from ferry the gentleman on reception was very kind and considerate. Will definitely use again next time
- John (4/5): MEDIOCRE - The rooms were mediocre at best, definitely a lower budget accommodation. The Ace hotel in Valence was much better, so this one was a disappointment. The most frustrating issue was that of internet connection. After a long convoluted process to connect to the internet, a poor, slow, unsecured connection was achieved. We then lost the connection and had to do the entire process again. The desk staff although enthusiastic to attempt assistance were also frustrated by the system and unable to provide knowledgeable help.
The breakfast was adequate but nothing more, and could be improved to a typical standard at other locations.
- Phil (8/5): Great value - Hotel was new, and staff was great. The only problem was the Expedia price was wrong. It changed when the booking was confirmed. The error was Expedias as the hotel's posted rates matched the booking rate on Expedia as opposed to the quoted rate on Expedia before booking.
- JC (8/5): Located 6 kilometers southeast of Poitiers. - We stayed in room #313 for 2 nights. The room was very clean. It is not located in Poitiers but is located about 6 kilometers from the city center. However, the area is quiet and there is secure parking for free. The hotel also offers breakfast for a fee. There is a restaurant, bakery, and grocery store in the immediate area about a block away. Our room had one double and one twin bed. There were two small night stands. The room also had a TV with no English stations, a closet for hanging clothing, some shelves, a desk with two chairs, and a luggage rack for one suitcase. The bathroom is large with some toiletries provided, a hairdryer, shower, and space to place your personal items next to the sink. The receptionist spoke little English.
