But the Saba hotel is not in good condition, lights didn’t work in the room, no hot water, shabby towels; overall not a pleasant stay. Next time I will pay an extra $5-10 dollars and stay at the Best Western Plus Panama Zen down the street—it’s much higher quality.

Verified traveler (4/5): Quality lost somewhere over the years - Saba use to be our favorite go-to place but management has let the place go which is sad because everything else on Via Argentina has been updated into a beautiful place to visit. The room - dingy and dark. Room definitely could use a coat of paint or two. However, on a good note, the air conditioner was working very well. Breakfast is no longer included which is too bad as it might be an incentive to stay here. Too many good and reasonable restaurants outside of the establishment to pay $6.50 here. Front desk - we were asked to give our credit card so that they could put a hold on it in case we stole something which is odd since the room has nothing of value. At checkout, they make you wait as they actually send someone to the room to verify that you did not steal anything. This is the first time I've experienced this in Panama. As a professional reviewer, I can not recommend staying here unless drastic changes are made. I stayed at three hotels in PC this week and this was the worst of the three and beleive it or not, not the cheapest.

The hotle is a bit older ...however..the hot sbowers, comfy bed and clean white cotten sheets and well workng A/C make this little boutique hotel all the better :) The front staff are helpful and charming. This is an absolute bargin if you are traveling and need a nice place to rest and restore this place is perfect for that :) Also its quiet at night and early mornings too!! Love it and we will be back

Desk,1 chair, chest, night stands, frig. A/C worked well, once the desk clerk came and showed us that we had to use our key card to make it & the Sony TV turn on!. Restaurant serves breakfast only, but there are many small (clean) restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel is in a neighborhood, great for walking. Two blocks from a major Metro terminal. Street side would be noisy, the back side is not unless the neighbors have a party! They are repaving the street right now, made it hard for the cabs, but still ok for walking. Would definitely stay here again.

Travis (4/5): False Advertising - I got off to a bad start with this hotel. I booked it because they advertised an airport shuttle. Truth is they will arrange a taxi for you at a personal cost of $35 USD each way. The front desk staff was very friendly, I can't lay any fault on them. My room was clean but very under whelming. The area around seemed a bit sketchy in my opinion. I will most likely not stay here again.

Elizabeth (10/5): - This is a lovely older property located in a perfect place. I was welcomed and allowed to check in early. So very thankful as I was unwell. It was a short and inexpensive Uber Ride from the Airport as well. The hotel is a bit older, but I loved it! My room was neat and clean. My bed was super comfy and the sheets inviting! It was great to have a coffee pot that worked well in my room and fridge for water. The bathroom was great and the shower large and super hot water....that was very much apricated after travel. The location was perfect to go out and walk around with a large beautiful park across the street! Restaurants were up and down the street. There is breakfast available starting at 6 am for a small cost. Dinner is also served here. If you need a room with a view I would call to ask. Mine did not but I was there to relax and sleep before another flight. Loved it and will return on my next visit to Panama City!

Mister (6/5): - Not a bad hotel for about $50/night but you get what you pay for... The hotel is located on a perpetually dismantled road that has been "under repair" for about two years. Traffic in the areas sucks and so do the hotel views. There's plenty of eateries in the area though which was good. The staff was hit-and-miss. Ask the right staff member for something and they delivered. Others acted as if it was an inconvenience to do their job.

Becky (10/5): Boutique Hotel with Character - We only stayed one night at the Saba Hotel, but it more than met our needs. First off, it is really modern and artsy, and very appealing. It even smelled really good. A fresh oasis in the middle of the city, especially since there was construction going on in the street outside. We arrived at the hotel about 2 hours before check in time, but the kind English-speaking young lady behind the desk allowed us access to the room for free. The room itself was bright and airy, and the only complaint I would share is that no one explained to us that the room keys also are to be used to turn on the electricity and air conditioning. We figured it out after a few minutes, but it was an unusual setup for us. There were several restaurants and stores within easy walking distance, and the whole area felt very safe. We enjoyed our stay there very much, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Panama City.

Dave (10/5): Nice - First time to Panama, needed a place for a few nights on my travels to Bocas del toro. Saba is a great little hotel in a trendy part of the city. Nice park and pubs in very close proximity. Even got to watch some local mens basketball tournament on a nice outdoor court.....15 dollar uber for international airport and 8 dollars from Allbrook airport. Friendly staff.

Verified traveler (2/5): HORRIBLE AND HOT STAY. NO AC - I am here now and I am LITERALLY almost dead! It is extremely hot in my hotel room/the entire hotel and they claim that the AC is not working. I have NEVER stayed somewhere that the entire AC is not working. This is my 2nd day here and they promised that it would be fixed last night, but now going into night 3 of a 7 day stay, I do not think I will be able to manage. Now I am working with Expedia to cancel the reservation. But based on the fact that they are letting such a serious issue fall by the waist side like this, I could not under any circumstances give them a positive review. Also they keep running out of rags and towels. I am supposed to go out tonight but they said they won't have any rags or towels until the morning????? And they ran out this morning as well. How is this really a 4 star hotel??? I am LITERALLY desperate for help. #0Stars

Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, fairly central location - My initial experience upon arrival at the hotel was not good. The person in charge of checking me in seemed inexperienced and very slow. He also insisted I pay up front for the entire stay before actually having even been to my room. The elevator was not functioning upon arrival. The fridge was not cold and seemed never to reach cool temperature. Next morning the AC in my room was not functioning. At this point I was very unhappy and wrote so in my initial Expedia impressions. Other staff at the hotel however very proactively jumped to the rescue. The lady in charge that day moved me to a bigger room, where everything functioned very well for the rest of my stay: fridge, AC, tv, and most importantly in some ways for me, wifi. The room was in good condition. The lady who cleaned the room every day was pleasant, personable and efficient.The rest of the staff I interacted with were also pleasant and professional. So the initial situation was probably mostly only due to circumstance and some bad luck. A tip: I would recommend the hotel train new staff with another competent person up to the time they are comfortable doing the job in a routine manner on their own. Otherwise guests can get the wrong impression.
Jeff (2/5): don't stay here - Street noise required ear plugs and was still a problem. Staff missed an important wakeup call after being confirmed twice. WiFi was intermittent and very slow, coffee maker had to be moved to a floor corner due to no outlet, five minutes before hot water in shower, broken elevator, refused ice by the restaurant. All in all, one of the worse stays ever.
Rayen (4/5): Not clean - I was very disappointed with the cleanliness. There was mold in the shower. Shower head needed attention. Fridge was room temperature at best. Hallways echo all noise from the other rooms. I booked a room on expedia and arrived to check in a little early and they held my bag knowing I was staying there. When I came back they had to give me an upgraded room because my original room wasn't available now. I thought great!, How nice. I arrived see my room and the first thing I notice is that the door will not open all the way. It stops halfway. Same thing with the bathroom door. I explained this to the staff and was told it's the only room available. This room showed me that the extra little effort is not present to show you care about the clients. I just keep thinking to myself, what would the other room have been like if the upgraded room was in this much disarray.
Kate (8/5): Pleasant facilities, helpful staff - When we arrived, the elevator was not working, so the clerk offered to book us elsewhere and pay a taxi, or she would carry our luggage (just 1 floor so it was OK). Dinner and breakfast were very good and not expensive. Room was large and quiet, comfy bed. The morning staff spoke only Spanish, but with our high-school level Espanol, we managed it.

Andrea (8/5): Nice small hotel - Near everything in Panama City and close to a great restaurant called El Trapiche, where they serve cheap excellent Panamanian food. Everything went well. I got to the hotel a bit early and very sick with the flu. They denied me an early check in, instead I had to pay for an additional night. I did because I was ill. The staff is attentive . The only thing I really dislike it was they did not have irons in room. I borrowed one from the front desk and the woke me up at 8:00am with a phone call asking for the iron back. I was awake late in a phone conference oversea for business and i had just fallen a sleep. Needless to say I was not pleased with the early call. They made it up to me allowing a "late check out" (1 hour later) Otherwise, is a centric, modern hotel. 1 towel per person, I have to ask for another one to dry my hair.
harry (6/5): Good location, fair price - Good location hotel. Clean rooms. Comfy beds. A.C. AND ELECTRICTY ONLY WORKS IF YOUR CARD PLUGGED IN , NOT A FAN OF THAT. Also make sure you get a room with a. View. My room had no windows. Only one window which behind it was concrete wall of elevator shaft. But it was late and I was leaving so was lazy to ask for a change. It makes you very claustrophobic though I literally had to get buzzed off some hard liquior to fall asleep. Other than that. Good price if you not planning on spending a lot of time in the room as location is very good
John (8/5): Decent hotel in a good central area - Decent medium sized hotel in a central area with plebty restaurants and bars near by. Breakfast in hotel basic.
Jose (6/5): uhm - very old building with a few improvements. staff was nice. The bathroom was to big and the bedroom area too small.
Tracy (8/5): Decent value - Hotel is in a great location for walking to several restaurants and a grocery store. Our particular room had no window and a view of the elevator shaft - would have preferred to be able to see the sun and people. The staff were pleasant but when we requested a coffee filter we were told the front desk would contact housekeeping - no housekeeping came and no call happened to explain why. On a positive note, the bed and pillows were super comfortable. I would stay again.
Rocio (2/5): Extremely unsatified - This hotel is inexpensive, but they lack customer service skills. The employees were not helpful whatsoever and only one iron for the enitre hotel. They do not have bell boy or luggge caddy, once again personnel do not go out of their way to help. We left the hotel at 4am, no one was in the lobby but a male employee, we asked him to hlep us bring down our luggage from the lobby to the street to get a cab and he said he couldn't help us. He had to stay put, meanwhile my 65 year mother and I had to fend for ourselves. It was awful awful awful!!!!!! At 4 am it was hard to get a taxi, we asked the male employee to help us by calling a taxi company and he said he did not have any numbers.
moe (4/5): Closet size rooms. - Was made to wait until 3pm to check in. The stuff did not seem to care, and just repeated “This is the hotel policy”. The rooms are too small. Most hotels in the area have twice the size rooms.
Luna (6/5): - Hotel was clean, they let me store my bag from early in the morning before check in. Bar and kitchen staff were lovely. Front desk staff were not. Was told check in is 3:30, not 3:00 as advertised, which is quite late. One tried to sell me a tour around the canal for $60 by telling me that a taxi would cost $50 to get there. The taxi cost $10. Another tried to make me pay for a second guest in a 2 person room but when I didn't have the exact money in cash to pay, didn't pursue it. Just not helpful or trustworthy, generally.
Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, simple hotel overall. - Nice, simple hotel overall. Despite Expedia saying taxes were included, the hotel charged us an extra 10% which they said was a "tax". So I'm not sure if Expedia was incorrect, or if the hotel staff was overcharging us. It was unfortunate either way.
alberto (8/5): Bathroom tip - It was a good experiences be the time to Ben calm and sleep very good at the hotel , just be sure all the rooms has their warm water on the showers in good conditions or take the time to explain your costumers how it work otherwise everything is great, the saving light thing with the card, good sheets on the bed, missing a bottle of water, good lighting
Verified traveler (6/5): - Service, except housekeeping, is just HORRIBLE. The staff could care less about you. They treated me as if they were doing me a favor at the worst time of their lives all times I reached out to them. It was shocking. Don't count on the restaurant hours, it is absolutely not honored. It is a toss up whether the restaurant is open or close. Please make plans elsewhere for food. Rooms are decent and comfortable yet the walls are in need of some serious paining. Bathroom is small but manageable. Hangers were of all sorts and shapes in the closet. The hotel is quiet (this was great). The location is excellent. This hotel is a jewel in the raw. Either change management or staff but do something. This could be a wonderful hotel in the city. I thought the value for the room was incredible when I made the reservation; now I understand completely why it was so affordable. The staff makes it worthless.
Marcel (6/5): Nice but lacked little things. - It was a nice hotel in the most authentic part of the city. However they didn’t have wash cloths, which being from California, I found weird. Also they ran out of hot water. The staff was excellent however and the room was always clean.

Scott and Wanda (8/5): small hotel on Via Argentina, lot's of restaurants - The Hotel was nice, the only problem we had was when we booked with Expedia we clicked on breakfast included. We were disappointed when we found out the breakfast was not included at all. Be careful when booking with Expedia.

Coach J (10/5): A jewel of a boutique hotel! - When we first arrived I had my reservations about staying because the lobby furniture looked grungy and peeping around the corner at the restaurant it looked out dated and in need of a facelift. Once on the elevator and in the room I put my guards down. The room and bathroom was very well appointed and the staff very attentive. Great location as well.
