• CHIH YUN (7/5): 還可以 - 住宿位置離京都車站走路大約10-15分鐘；不過離地鐵五條站走路約 3-5 分鐘，還算方便。 辦理入住手續地點在另一地方，離住宿地點走路大約3分鐘，有點不方便，但工作人員很友善。 住宿地點1樓有廚房、冰箱、微波爐可以使用；2樓有洗手台，浴室，浴室有點小，尚可以接受，不過建議放個垃圾桶，不然要丟東西很不方便。房間還算乾淨整潔。 住宿地點只有樓梯，因房間在3樓，所以需搬行李到3樓，很重也很危險。 建議浴室外配置垃圾桶，以方便丟東西。

They should have been upfront about in in the website instead of only tell you during you stay. Which we had no other choice to follow. They allowed me to cancel, but within 1 hour, where am i going to find a room? Rules to follow: Keep quiet after 10pm. Cannot drag luggage on Floor. etc. Else they threaten to remove you.

The toilet was a standard toilet and not the washlet.

• Frauke (9/5): Sehr angenehm. Wir wären spontan länger geblieben, wenn die Unterkunft nicht ausgebucht gewesen wäre - Angenehme Räume, perfekt für Touristen, gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Auch die Lage ist super Weder wir noch zeitgleiche andere Gäste haben die Mülltrennung verstanden.

• ヒメツルソバ (9/5): 隣の銭湯すごい良かった。部屋もきれい - 京都駅から徒歩圏内で、宿泊料を抑えられたところ。お部屋もきれいで畳のいい匂いが心地よかったです。隣の銭湯がお風呂の種類が7種類もあり、露天風呂、サウナ、電気風呂もありそちらも楽しめた。 スリッパが大きくて脱げやすく、階段の上り下りがしにくかったところと洗面所にハンドソープがなかったところ。部屋の電気の明るさの調節ができずリモコンも無いため、寝る直前にスイッチを消しに行き、部屋が真っ暗の中布団に入らなければならなかったところ。

• Uncle Joe (7/5): - Firstly, the location of this budget friendly accommodation is excellent. Very close to the train station and bus station and close to the main shopping district and within good walking distance if some of the best sights. I found the room itself to be excellent (everything is relative to my travel being budget orientated), a good size, good air conditioning and, I know others didn't like the bedding I didn't mind it at all (it is extremely thin but I find this better than a mattress). Good size kitchen, with fridge, microwave etc... Staff member was extremely friendly but I didn't really have much interaction apart from checking in Facilities were clean and all I needed. However, it's with the facilities that lets this lovely place down. My room was one of three along a narrow corridor. After the first room and before mine were two sinks, in the corridor. This meant that anyone brushing their teeth or washing up were doing it in the corridor right outside my room. This didn't bother me so much but it's something some people might not like. Especially as right after my room there are two toilets. Which meant that from first thing in the morning there were people using sinks and toilets right outside my room. And this was the same in the evening as I was sleeping. Now I was lucky that on the first two nights of my stay there was only one other guest so it wasn't an issue but on the third it was quite busy outside my room. Again, as a budget traveller this doesn't bother me so much but it's something to consider when booking this accommodation. As for me I would definitely stay there again as it was a friendly and clean budget accommodation in a good location.

• Urs (8/5): Wir waren 5 Tage zu dritt in diesem schönen Zimmer, und es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. - Sehr schönes Zimmer im Japanischen Stil. Eine Kochgelegenheit gibt es im Gemeinschaftstraum nebenan. Eine U-Bahn Station ist in der Nähe, jedoch erreicht man den Bahnhof Kyoto auch gut zu Fuss. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich.
• Ian (8/5): - The room I stayed in was exactly what I was expecting. Traditional Japanese vibes, comfy futon, I even had a sliding door to get a view of the outside. Some reviews complained about a strong smell, and while I could smell the tatami mats, it wasn't a bad smell by any means. The house was very quiet too, which was nice to sleep in. My only real complaint is about a couple of locals who stayed in the house on my last two nights. They would talk very loudly and would stomp around and slam doors/other things late at night. That's an issue with those people though, and not with the room or the house. For those looking to stay, just keep in mind that you're basically staying in a dorm. You might get some unpleasant people staying in the same building, but other than that, it's a nice, cheap option to stay in Kyoto.

• Gina (10/5): - This one was a little hard to find - the lobby - check in is in a little different area of where we are staying.. the directions gave the location to the building but the lobby was in a different location. Had to ask a guy for help.. the lobby was about 2-3 short blocks from the building. But the locals were very nice. they knew the place and helped us out. Rooms were nice - service was nice.. just a little confusing to find the lobby at first.

• Adrian (1/5): A horrible place - I had a roof over my head. 1. Anyone can access the property without a key and walk through all the floors. 2. The bathrooms can be used by anyone who has no business on the property. 3. I went into the first-floor bathroom to wash my hands and noticed a really foul and strong smell. When I realized, the smell of a mixture of sweat and moisture was coming from the towel I was going to use it to dry my hands. 4. The lock on my room door was half-open and seemed to be forced to open it. It's not properly secured because it moves when you touch it even when it's closed. 5. The room was completely open when I arrived, with my pajamas (yukata) lying on the floor and when I say lying I don't mean they were well folded on the floor, the clothes were scattered. I don't know if someone else could have gotten into my room and used it before anyone arrived. 6. There's no one at the property to talk to. I emailed them using Booking.com haven't received a response two days after. 7. The night before I stayed here I stayed at a ryokan for just €10 more that didn't have any of these shortcomings. This is disgusting.

• Helena (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay at Ikoi-no-ie, which is conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from the metro station. We booked a room with a private bathroom, which was very convenient. The area is quiet, with a restaurant just around the corner and a shared dining room available for use. One thing to note is that check-in and the front desk are in a separate building about a 3-minute walk away, so if you're arriving with large suitcases, be prepared to go back and forth. Additionally, the rooms are on the second floor with steep stairs, which might be challenging if you have heavy luggage. Other than that, the Japanese-style room was very nice and clean. The hotel staff was helpful and welcoming, and both check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. Overall, a great stay with a few logistical points to keep in mind!

• Hoan (4/5): An unexpected experience! - Inside residential area and we want to have a new experience outside hotel - No receptionist and owner at site and made our experience cold, boring and isolated. Felt unsafe and nervous. - Smelly at the whole house because of lacking people living there and musty odor. - Facilities looked cheap as compared with the price. I had to pay totally 10,000 Yen per night inc. 400 Yen accomadation tax. That's approxiamate to a famous chain hotel I stayed with much higher standard. - Check out time's not reasonable, from 9:00 am. This is too late to go out for visiting. We had to go out from 8:00 for sightseeing while it's not convenient to go back before 11:00 to check out. Besides that, they didn't allow to leave luggage after checking and request to pay 1,500 Yen for this while we can leave luggage free at another hotel.

A booklet was provided for each room with information about location etc. there was a small kitchen downstairs with a dining table for communal use. The soaps in the shower had a lovely scent. Washer and dryer on the top floor at 600¥ per cycle was and dry. Please note that check in occurs at another hotel/restaurant about a 5 min walk from the hostel. Reviews I read before my stay complained that the location was difficult to find, but we did not find this if the directions provided at the time of booking were followed. A/C in the room was very cold. Towel and hand towel was provided. Quilt on the bed was plush and fluffy. Rooms were very basic. A very thin futon was provided for bedding, and whilst I was aware that the bedding was to consist of a futon, I did not realise just how thin it would be. I slept poorly and turned frequently through the night. There are 4 floors reached via a narrow stair case. Carrying luggage beyond the first floor was challenging. No sound proofing, and even though this was a mostly quiet hostel, noise still carried and every time anyone walked in the room above or used the staircase it was loud. Three was nowhere to sit in the room except on the floor on the futon. No storage space or place for luggage except 4 wall pegs. Poor value for money. Even though Kyoto is expensive, the price of the hostel was not justified by the inclusions.

• Aditya (6/5): Reasonable stay with reception in different place - Japanese style room was okay! It is located on a quiet residential area about 15 min walk from Kyoto central station. The reception was at a different place (next street) - you need to goto this place for checkin formalities. This was mentioned in the instructions email, nevertheless it was not convenient. Bathroom taps were old and not that handy. To get the desired temperature of hot+cold water, some amount of maneuvering is needed!
• Iand (8/5): Old Town location, budget hostel - Really friendly staff, located in an older neighbourhood and short walk from the tube line. Breakfast was nice. The reception is a short walk from the accommodation so take your bags straight there. The room is incredibly basic, luckily we were on the ground floor as I wouldn't like to have dragged my cases up to the top floor via the stairs. We used the laundry facilities but there is no heat in the dryer so we had to hang them around the room and dry overnight, not good when we were in a rush to leave early the next day.

• Kilgour (5/5): We got what we paid for - Decent price, good location for the festival. Bad air conditioning, couldn't find the room even with a map and directions. The map was wrong.

• Cervetti (7/5): overall we enjoyed the stay, with futons and compact shower room. we loved the onsen next door too. - We liked the location and overall it did what we were looking for. excellent traditional breakfast too. the room needs a little upgrading. maybe some extra hooks on the opposite wall? there were marks/scratches on walls too. the communal access had a very unpleasant damp smell that definitely should be addressed.

• Ryuma (10/5): - I didn’t expect that quality, because it was very budget friendly too, but it was really like a Ryokan. There is also a temple that called Higashihongan-ji, and is famous, moreover it’s only 10 min away from the Kyoto station as you can see the tower.

• Aidan (6/5): did not sleep on thin “mattress “, I know it’s the culture but not mine - staff very good location good please can European guests have deeper mattresses
