- Kilugala (7/5): - the breakfast was superb
- Winnie (7/5): It is a good value for money , close to the city centre, easy access to uber/bolt - The breakfast is largely Indian cuisine, a mix would be good - continental + indian The room was overall clean, but there seemed to have been some construction going on before , it made the room have small cockroaches. They attempted to fumigate though.

- Patrick (9/5): Superb - Very friendly staff, good service, spacious room, tasty breakfast Rooms and facilities are not the newest
- Akemi (8/5): - My room had several problems with the facilities. Some outlet sockets were out of order, the kettle was broken, and the fridge was also out of order. Once the curcuit breaker tripped at night. I think the rooms need more frequent maintenance. Staff were always quick to respond to solve the problems and I was happy with that.

- John (9/5): nice hotel in old part of Dar es Salaam - Very large, comfortable room with views of the city. Desk and kitchenette; a total of 7 chairs in the room. Very good bathroom. Quiet. Refrigerator, microwave, and hotpot. Front desk couldn't make change for a 10000-shilling note.
- Kalpit (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Located in the city center and close to most offices. Very clean. Staff were nice and helpful and did not make any fuss about request for a late checkout. Highly recommended
- Ville (8/5): basic place - Everything was Ok, pretty basic. if you like indian Food you will enjoy the breakfast The staff came to knock on my door already before 8 in the morning because I had the iron.
- Kausar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prakash (10/5): - Its a excellent location and staff are polite and effective
- Neil (10/5): - Have stayed before and enjoyed it
- H (8/5): Good hotel with Great Restaurant Food - The hotel was in relatively good locality. Little bit far from Airport considering local traffic and ongoing Bridge construction going on in Dar Es Salaam. Restaurant food was one of the big plus. Roof top Bar & Restaurant was quite good, helps to relax after hectic work day. Local Taxis are always available outside the hotel.
- Kenneth (10/5): Comfortable and professionally managed - This is a very good hotel in the city centre. The wifi worked well and the restaurant served good food (and beer). The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The biggest plus as far as I was concerned was the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff and management, which was outstanding. This will be my hotel of choice on my return to Dar es Salaam.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Quarto com cheiro de mofo e banheiro em mais condições o lugar onde fica não é legal
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly, authentic hotel, managed by an Indian family. Spacious rooms. Good service, friendly staff. Recommended.
- Maureen Smitt (8/5): Old Colonial Type hotel - The staff were all charming and friendly. Restaurant service one night was so slow I left - 45 minute wait for a curry!!
There was a function upstairs, and I don't think they thought anyone else would be eating.
Breakfast (included) was OK, much Indian food, but omlets made to order.
- Kumar (4/5): Two star hotel - The condition of the room is really bad. Paint is peeling. Washroom tiles are dirty and may have MOLD. Water doesn't drain during shower. It is really bad. Only supplied on bath towel and one hand towel. No napkins.
Neighborhood does not suite the location of this hotel.
- Jeya Ram (10/5): Good hotel for all travellers. - I am used to stay in this hotel every time I visit Dar for about more than 4 years. At least a week stay every year. Very nice property with comfort, easy accessible, good location. Especially for Indian traveller it's a good choice as very close to Indian temples, Indian foods at walkable distance. Overall a good hotel.
- dermot (8/5): - Good value and very friendly and helpful staff. The food was very good.
- Christian (8/5): Nice Hotel - The Sapphire is a safe and good choice. The rooms and the service is what you pay for and they are friendly and accommodating. The roof bar is lovely and relaxed. The Indian food at the hotel is some of the best I've tasted in Africa. A nice hotel in a very good location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was happy to stay at the hotel. The rooms are neat and well decorated. And price reasonable.
- SUBRAMANIAN (6/5): Good hotel that serve Indian veg. Food - Good hotel - Indian vegetarian food available in this hotel - managed by Indians - good value for money
- andrius (6/5): just acceptable - it was ok for a short overnight stay, quite nice breakfast. not far from the ferry terminal. the terrace upstairs looked nice for a drink in the evening, but we arrived after 11pm so never had a chance to use it as it was already closed by that time.
- Mr. Gerald R (8/5): Hotel Sapphire - They could not find booking for two so we were upgraded to a very nice suite. Overnight stay in DAR, very comfortable, left before breakfast time so they packed a sandwich to go for two. Dinner was the best curry in hotel dining room I have had in years. I liked the hotel a lot. U.S. $30.00 plus tip cab ride from airport
- JOHN (6/5): Feedback - Came for official duties. Friendly staff, the location is horrible though. No parking, accessing Taxi's is a nightmare and the unimaginable Trafffic jam on a rainy day.
Improve on courtesy for your ushers/ security one can get rained on while being dropped by a cab but the ushers don't come with to shelter you from the rain and just watches by.
Also the TV channels are so skewed to India channels, got the impression you expect guests from only one race?
give more attention to customers feedback and you will be Ok...you have the potential.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Two nights at Hotel Sapphire, Dar-es-salaam - Friendly staff. Manager was genuinley interested in my welfare. Sad to see leaking sink in my room and a mouse in the dinning room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): good for one night if you are in a hurry - the service staff is actually great and welcoming- ready to make one comfortable and serve; yet does not follow up on what guests request from the outset _ like putting my sister, nephew and niece all in one bed rather than the double room and paid for one adult two children as requested. the AC's have problem working but they get them to work right away when you let them know. the biggest and maybe only problem is that the hotel smells like moth balls as deodorizer used is not welcoming smell for those allergic to heavy cleanser smells like us. the hotel is run down and the decor should be rethought - it looks even less welcoming and cheap for the price paid- it has appearance of more a motel, than hotel.
- Gisle (8/5): Nice hotel - The hotel is clean, has a restuarant with good food, and a nice roof top terrace and with a good location and very spacious rooms.
- dena (8/5): Great budget hotel - I only stayed here one night. For budget accomodations it was absolutey fine. The room was quite large. The a/c worked well, and there was hot water when i needed it. Wifi also worked well in the rooms. The staff were all very friendly, especially the bar staff. The rooftop bar is simple but its a nice place to unwind before heading to bed. I cant say much about the neighborhood as i arrived at about 10pm at night and left the next morning by 9am, but i can tell you i didnt feel unsafe.
- James (6/5): A really good bargain in Dar - I stayed here for 3 nights for a business trip. The hotel is in a pretty crowded neighborhood, but it was easy to visit interesting places on foot. Walking to the beach was easy. The wi-fi was good. Everything worked (TV, hot water). Bonus is that I had a water boiler and lots of coffee and fixings in the room. The gym equipment is old but it works, so I was satisfied. And the gym is on the top floor, so you can walk out to the terrace for really great panoramic views. I would definitely stay here again because the price point is great and the place, overall, is pretty good.
- jesse (8/5): Great value, good location, a bit worn - Room was very large and clean, although some holes in the walls, worn conditions, etc. Hotel rooftop is very nice and the location is great and extremely central. Wifi was pretty strong throughout although the daily code is annoying. Breakfast is not great (very oily and not a lot of light options) but the service is attentive and friendly. Overall a great value.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel Sapphire - My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Sapphire for one night as we had an early flight to catch the next day. The room itself was spacious, had a safe, AC and cable. However, the bed was the most uncomfortable thing I have slept on (and I camped on the ground in the Serengeti on part of my trip). It felt like we were sleeping on a piece of plywood. The AC went off in the middle of the night and it was very difficult to figure out how to reset it. The area outside the hotel was very noisy until about midnight so that combined with the lack of AC and uncomfortable bed did not make for a good stay.
The hotel restaurant was ok but nothing special however, the rooftop bar/restaurant had an amazing view.
We requested an early shuttle to the airport at 3am but no one was waiting for us when we went down to the lobby except for a security guard who was sleeping. We had to wake him up to try and get him to find the shuttle driver. He then disappeared for about 10 minutes at which point we started to worry if we would make it to the airport but he then showed up in a taxi that took us to the airport for far less than they charge for the shuttle. Overall, it wasn't a great stay and we likely would not stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Grosse Zimmer, Komfort & tolles Rooftop Restaurant - Ein neues, sauberes und schönes Hotel mir sehr gutem Essen und fantastischer Dachterrasse. Lohnt sich!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Ok room, but cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Bathrooms were especially poor.
- Shannon (6/5): Down Time in Dar - Stay was okay. Hotel is in good location within city centre. It's at least a 15 min walk from the beach, and from the ferry. Some staff are friendly. The outdoor restaurant and bar on the top floor is the best thing going for this hotel. That and the free wifi.
- Rose (8/5): Good Location and Excellent Staff and Manager - The location for this Hotel was really good and accessible to everything. The rooms were big, nice and clean and the breakfast was really good too. The staff and manager at the hotel do everything and anything to make your stay comfortable and very helpful. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a Hotel in Dar.
- Wilson (10/5): Excellent Hotel at the Centre of Dar Es Salaam - Just stayed Last Week at the Hotel Sapphire - Dar Es Salaam (Mtendeni), The Location is great in the city centre with easy access around Dar; we really enjoyed the stay and were looked after by all the staff (especially the Manager Nityanand Upadhyay). The rooms are large, clean with LED TV, Air Con, fridge, microwave, small electric hob and free WIFI that worked everytime!, even the shower was more powerful than my power shower at home. The restaurant food was great with local, Indian and western taste catered for.
We travelled in and out of Dar Es Salaam to Mtwara, Zanzibar and Arusha but our main luggage stayed in the Hotel with no problems even when we left at 4.30am the staff were always helpful, courteous and remembered us after everytime we returned (it made us feel we had come home)
Thank you to all the Staff and Nityanand Upadhyay for making our stay so wonderful :))
- S. (8/5): Great Hotel Downtown Dar - This hotel is in the middle of downtown "older" Dar. Even from the 3rd floor, we had a great view of the old 1950s building, and walking distance to lots of shops. Of the 4 hotels we stayed at in Tanzania (Dar and Unguja), they had the best breakfast of all of them. Masala dossas for breakfast! Not too greasy eggs. Manager helped me find the silk store I was looking for. Decent taxi price to the airport. Pretty good Internet, maybe a little slow.
- C (4/5): Only stayed two nights. - Room was ok and clean, but there was not a nice smell in the bathrooms. The restaurant was good and the food was also very good.
- Manuel (6/5): Good hotel, cheap staff, oriental breakfast - The hotel is located in the heart of Dar-es-salaam city center. The room is large and clean, comfortable. The staff is nice and unprofessional. The breakfast offer is mostly oriental food. No expresso.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient hotel, ideal for business travellers - The hotel is a little hard to locate but pretty central and convenient. A small travel agent operates from the same building - ideal for booking internal flights etc.My room was a huge en suite with a small kitchen & dining area. The dining table was near an electric socket - very useful for working at my computer & very good, free internet connection. The room was v comfortable, clean, light & well appointed with TV, A/C, fan etc. The manager is extremely helpful. The hotel has a bar on the 10th floor roof terrace - with great views - and a restaurant, which does reasonable curry at standard hotel prices. Breakfast is pretty good - fruit, cereal, eggs etc
- Doug (8/5): Exceptionally attentive staff, reasonable priced - Very well appointed, spacious room, outstanding courteous staff, overall superior for the price.
- Jane (6/5): 1 nt stopover before boarding the ferry - Room was clean & after landing late in Dar, we had a bite on the open-air rooftop restaurant -curried fish & tandoori were esp good and the service good w/ a charming waiter .
The beds are like boards...
Only 2 towels, but we made do between 3
Do get the hotel car down to the ferry,(you have to wake him up, as the back seat is his bed) as although the streets look navigable, it's quite a zoo down there. Allow enough time
We weren't able to secure economy seats on the ferry,so after lots of jostling,we ended up paying $5 more for inside seats, which were well worth it @ $40 ea
- Couple (8/5): Excellent short stay hotel - We were a little anxious about staying over in Dar Es Salaam between flights, however this hotel was an excellent choice. Emails were answered promptly, our airport transfers reliable even when one was at 4am, our room well equipped and clean, the restaurant served good food and the staff were friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed the views from the roof terrace towards the sea.
- Helena (2/5): - OK location but very sloppy service and poor cleaning
- Verified traveler (8/5): A good middle priced hotel - Good location in downtown Dar in a quiet side street. Rooms very comfortable - some with kitchenettes attached which would be very useful if you are traveling on a budget. Staff are all very friendly and efficient.
- Vic (8/5): - Staff were attentive and helpful. The restaurant suppers were very good. Breakfast could be better. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. A couple of our group (of 8) had trouble operating air conditioning. Rooftop bar a nice feature.
- g.Alen (8/5): Mr. - The hotel is in a good location, very clean, excellent service
