Guest Reviews
- David (1/5): - Nothing. The hotel was closed despite accepting the reservation and asking me what time we would arrive. Everything. The hotel was closed despite accepting the reservation and asking me what time we would arrive.
- Ben (1/5): This hotel is closed. DO NOT BOOK! -
- Sally (6/5): A beautiful place to leave the word behind - The setting was beautiful A few issues with plumbing during our stay and due to location nothing can be fixed immediately but staff apologetic.
- Ralph (8/5): Very good -
- Katina (8/5): Very good - Quiet, friendly place near the Caminito and to other hikes. Restaurant felt cold and not as cosy as the rest of the place.
- Martin (4/5): Great potential but badly delivered - We had booked a room with a balcony (we didn't have one). According to the pictures and also half board.
When we arrived, we were told the restaurant was not open, so we would have to walk up the road to find food. Also, there was a leak in the cold water system, so to resolve this, they turned the water off and you had to ask for it to be turned on if you wanted cold water in your room.( This also meant 70% of the rooms were unavailable) The blind on the window wouldn't open or close properly and hummed in the wind like castanets. There wasn't a bar open, and you had to ask for a hot drink , which involved waiting for the machine to warm up .
I wouldn't recommend this place it feels like a cross between Faulty Towers and The Shinning.
It's a great pity because it's a lovely building and with a little care and attention could be a great place to stay .
The staff were friendly, but given the circumstances, they were in a difficult position to start from .
- Brad (2/5): Ok as long as u dont need a shower. - Really nice people. Decent good.
Great location for the Caminito. But no hot water. Old hotel that is struggling. No hot water
- Orit (8/5): Very good - The location of the hotel is perfect. The staff was super helpful and although there was a significant problem with the water they did their best to turn our stay to an enjoyable one. The owner and Isabella were wonderful and we thank them very much. N/A
- Kate (8/5): Hotel perfectly located for Caminito del Rey - I booked to be near the start of the Caminito del Rey. It was a few minutes walk from the hotel to El Kiosko, the shop/bar where the walk in to the Caminito begins (across the dam and around the corner). The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the 2 nights I stayed there. The restaurant was closed on my first night, but the hotel messaged to let me know that I needed to make other arrangements. They said what was available locally and the times of closing, which was very kind.
- Jon (10/5): A fantastic Hotel. I loved it. Thank you xx - Arrived in torrential rain having walked 25km from Campillos. Girl on Reception offered to make me a sandwich and a coffee. Shown to my room, which was fine. Bar closed so went 100m up the road to the next Bar. Fantastic. On return, the lights in my room were not working. I was immediately given the suite room. Amazing. Stunning. Evening meal superb. Wine excellent. Service first class. Lovely breakfast, lots of choice. A fantastic experience. Thank you.
- Denis (9/5): Superb -
- Mechthild (8/5): Very good -
- Raymond (1/5): terrible - Nothing - see our report to Booking.com everything
- Povilas (8/5): Very good - Great location to stay if you plan visit Caminito del Rey. Free parking is next to the hotel. The start point of caminito is just ~20 mins by foot - we reached it with my kids easily. Staff is also very helpful - I had a flat tire of my rented car and the guy at the reception helped me with English to Spanish translation. Also explained us what is the best way to reach caminito. We made a reservation a month ago but only day before arriving we've got a message that the restaurant is closed. That is a little like a cheating because we explicitly looked for a place with are restaurant when we've made a reservation.
Keep in mind that there are no fridge, cutlery, glasses and hair dryer in the rooms. It is expected because these things are not listed in facilities of this hotel. But I very rarely stay in hotels with no basic cutlery in rooms :) However, staff was kind to keep our food in restaurant fridge.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Josefina (10/5): Beautifull place that by far exceeded my expectations, the hotel is situated just next to the forest were the hiking tra - Fantastic location, friendly & helpful staff, huge room with a mountain view & big bathroom with a bathtub. The restaurant was closed, probably due to off season, but we could walk to the nearby restaurant El Kiosko.
- Bobby (6/5): Average room. Amazing location - Great location to do the Camilo del Rey.
They can produce tickets for the walk The electricity went off in the morning so not great
Room had a funny smell
Cold and struggled with Aircon
- Catherine (9/5): Superb - Amazing location if you want to walk the Caminito. We chose the earliest hiking slot and it was so convenient to just walk to the start and leave the car by the hotel. The staff was also amazing and explained everything we needed to know about the Caminito.
There is free parking available just down the road from the hotel.
The room was basic, but clean and comfortable. The room got pretty cold at night in February.
- Vuokko (9/5): Peaceful and clean countryside hotel - Most peaceful, a little old fashioned but that’s why SO pleasant and beautiful hotel near Caminito del Rey North access. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was not open due to winter pause. (El Kiosko restaurant was open - quite a modest kitchen.) Breakfast was though served at the hotel. Bread was fresh and warm, great! Good beds. Clean room. Friendly staff. The room lacked a hair dryer.
- Louis (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (4/5): I wouldn't stay here in the winter - the location whole place was cold no heating and only aircon in room that didn't work on heat very well and poor breakfast
- Adesatyaningtyas (9/5): Superb -
- Jerome (9/5): Superb -
- Desmond (6/5): Pleasant - Excellent location, staff very friendly and helpful. The only thing that let the property down was no hot water both
mornings for shower or washing. They said they had a problem with the boiler but hot water later on in the day. The Shower
- Ekaterina (6/5): - I am rating this hotel as "3" because the staff was superb - responsive, helpful, friendly. The gentelman at the front desk not only patiently explained to me the walking directions but also graciously made me some hot tea. The property itself has a great location and nice common areas, but it is very dated, there was a bad smell in the room and no hot water in the morning.
- Emiliano (8/5): Very good -
- Stephanie (8/5): Convenient location close to Carminta del Rey - Great view from room Bed uncomfortable and bathroom old and rusty in parts. Hotel needs a refresh.
- Nuni46 (8/5): Very good - Perfectly located close to the Caminito del Rey entrance.
There is a restaurant in the same building.
We got a nice free update of the room. No hot water in the morning.
The staff helped immediately.
- Galia (10/5): A beautiful hotel close to Caminito del Rey - The hotel is close to the trail that takes you to Caminito del Rey. The hotel has an antique atmosphere. The staff is great and helpful especially Gregorio and Victor. We enjoyed our stay. Because there were very few rooms reserved, the heater was not turned on and it was cold in the dinning room.
- Stephen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mirka Kristiina (6/5): Pölyinen ilmastointi - Hieno palvelu mutta kova vuode ei täkkiä ei kuumaa vettä ja kamalan likaiset venttiilit / nyt nenä tukossa.
- Wayne (10/5): A weekend away - Superb location , amazing value There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel
- Lee (9/5): Really good time at the posada! - Great location with places to walk and hike. Very accommodating and friendly staff. Seating in lobby area was wonderful but seating in room was not.
- Colin (7/5): Traditional hotel close to the Caminto del Rey - Traditional hotel close to the Caminto del Rey with helpful and friendly staff Hotel is very old fashioned and lacks modern comforts
- Daset (10/5): Caminito del Rey base camp - The staff is great, I did not have a ticket for Caminito del Rey, they connected me with other guest who had an extra ticket. The staff is friendly and helpful in all aspects. Hotel itself is very nicely styled, not mentioning its location close to Caminito del Rey.
- Andris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Loved the location. Clean rooms and the service was great . Especially the guy at the reception. - It’s was walking distance to the Camino del Rey The rooms a bit outdated . And pipes made a noise every time you used the bathroom
- Olesya (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and elegant place close to Caminito Del Rey.
Stanze pulite e personale professionale e simpatico.
- Serena (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is ideally located for those planning to hike the Caminito del Rey. The on-site restaurant is fantastic, and the food was absolutely delicious!
- Gábor (5/5): Passable - The staff were very kind and helpful, the location is great and there is a free parking area next to the building. There is a restaurant connected to the hotel, where the food is fantastic. In the description it says "view of the inner courtyard", it was a little, closed area with a quiet loud elevator in front of the window...
The rooms entrace doors don't have any sealing and sill, so you hear everything, we heard very loud talking until dawn.
The shower head was broken therefor the pressure was very low.
We asked for some rum next to our dinner, but it was watered down (and not because of the ice) and was very expensive in that way.
- Jared (10/5): - Firstly, the breakfast pastries are some of the best pastries I’ve had in my life. (And trust me when I say I’ve had many pastries before today) crisp on the outside, feather soft on the inside.
Dinner in the hotels restaurant was delicious!! The lamb shoulder was recommended and did not disappoint.
The staff were soooo helpful, gave excellent advice re the hike. Super kind and friendly. Thank you to you all!
The room was clean and bed comfy. Would absolutely stay again should I do the hike again.
- Mykola (10/5): Exceptional - Great hotel close to main sightseeing. Awesome view from terrace. Delicious dinner and breakfast.
Super friendly people.
You can place car to the parking near hotel and walk to the Camenito del Ray ~30min
There are several walking paths as well after excursion. Nothing to mention.May be a bit less disinfectant if possible 🤔
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional - Perfectly placed to go to the Caminito del Rey.
Has the fastest hot water ever.
- Claire (8/5): It was a last minute booking but the hotel was lovely. Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived pretty late but they - Lovely scenic location.
- Facundo (9/5): Great place to stay near Caminito del Rey, even if you are not going. - The place and the location is unparalleled. 20 minutes walking to the El Kiosko, right out of Caminito del Rey. With a great restaurant to eat, and even better people. They were very caring and accommodating, specially taking into account how late we arrived. Being VERY picky here, and even if it's silly: The pillows. Ask for an extra pair if the pillows feel thin or you will need to cushion them.
- Heather (8/5): Very good - The location was excellent to Caminito del Rey entrance The restaurant was closed due to illness, the breakfast was very basic, very poor selection
- Maria (7/5): Good - Good parking spot, easy to walk to caminito del rey max 30 min. A very nice host, Grogory provided us with all the necessary information for the caminito, and the blond lady as well, very nice and helpful. . A bit too expensive for the condition, we booked it for the location close to caminito del rey.
- Alexandru (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (3/5): Beeping noise from reception easily audible in room, continuously through the night. Hot water not working at check in - Great location. Beeping noise from reception easily audible in room, continuously through the night. Hot water not working at check in time, although it was in the morning.
- Staples (10/5): Exceptional - The two gentlemen that were at the front desk super nice and accommodating. Walking distance to the Kiosk restaurant and awesome swimming place. Close to the Caminito del Rey :))
- Mark (8/5): - Un hotel sympathique a proximite directe du caminito del Rey...prevoir quand même 35 minutrs de marche pour acceder au départ.
Diner et petit dejeuner de bonne qualité
- Paul (3/5): Ok for one night . - Location The restaurant was closed and we had an interior room on the bottom floor . Very claustrophobic and no natural light . If room shutters were open every other guest on bottom floor could see into the room . Felt like a dungeon
- Constance (8/5): Perfect location for our hike: Caminito del Rey! Highly recommend staying here - Isabelle made our trip a treat. She really took care of us and always with a smile!
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Viktorija (9/5): Perfect location for Caminito delRey - Very handy for Caminito del Rey, only 20min walk to entrance.
Gregori at reception was SUPER helpful and told us the best and shortest way to the entrance and then told us lots of interesting info about the area 🙏 N/A
- Mark (6/5): - Was Ok. Smell of cleaning products hit us as we walked in and took a while to get rid of. Bed not very comfortable. No fridge, or any kitchen type appliances. However it served its purpose as a place to stay that made it easy to walk the trail and get back to our car after.
- Yuliya (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed every moment of our stay ! It’s so authentic and staff were mega nice 😊 highly recommend!
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Batt (6/5): Manager most helpful - Excellent location for caminito del Rey Isolated for any other activities
- Sanks (8/5): Just what the Dr ordered after the walk. - Close to Camanito del Rey walk Staff, the restaurant and bar, bedroom was adequate.
- Anja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kasey (8/5): Perfect for what we needed and well priced. Staff was very helpful. - Location was perfect and staff was very friendly. We were able to leave our luggage while we hiked No frills. No fridge. But exactly as advertised
- Artur (7/5): Good - Staff, location, upgrade of the room Poor breakfast. Only one type of bread. No eggs, no fresh juice.
- Sylvie (9/5): Fab location and staff! - Fantastic location and views!!!
The staff is super helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and looked after.
Thank you, 😊we will be back!! The continental breakfast was very basic.
We had a very quick breakfast, the volume on the TV was extremely loud, making it very difficult to have a conversation or to enjoy an early morning coffee, just taking in the peaceful surroundings.
- Irina (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay! I would come back The double bed is 2 singles actually, but it’s in most spanish hotels apparently
- Stefania (7/5): Good -
- Tadas (9/5): Superb -
- Jolanta (9/5): Superb -
- Colin (9/5): Superb - Always a good stay every time at this hotel
- Linda (8/5): Very good - The location was amazing. The personnel very helpful. We loved that place. The breakfast could be better , we missed vegetable
- Rafal (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (6/5): Pleasant - location, staff no warm water
- J. (7/5): Lovely location for walkers, one food option nearby - Location very good for Caminito del Rey walk - entrance gate less than 2km Restaurant not open and unreliable information as to opening or alternatives
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- Ansis (9/5): Nice hotel in excellent location, breathtaking views. Helpful staff, nice restaurant. -
- Carla (8/5): Very good -
- Shaun (6/5): Location good after a gruelling walk in the sun at Caminito Del Rey - Location No television working in hotel and Euro 24 on…
Restaurant was not open the night we stayed
- Eliia$ (6/5): memorable stay - The hotel is excellently situated for those looking to explore the famous Camino del Rey, and the staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, enhancing the overall experience. The hotel had limited facilities and breakfast options, which, though understandable given the remote location, might not meet everyone's expectations.
- Robin (4/5): Disappointing - Location and Gregorio very helpful .
Evening meal was better than we expected . Our room had been given to someone else so we were in a basement room with no view . Gregorio discounted the room to 50 euros a night as compensation .
The room was dated with blankets on bed and the bedside tables were covered in dust . Breakfast was poor . Glad we didn’t pay the full price for this hotel . Needs updating and modernising as it’s a fabulous location and could do so much better .
- JULIAN (8/5): Sin TV - Todo bien excepto que no funcionaba la TV por alguna avería en la antena que tenían, según comentaron. Por lo demás, todo bien.
- Shawna (7/5): Great location for the El Camino del Rey with fantastic service. Just don't expect much else. - The staff was exceptionally great! The restaurant was closed and the room smelled badly. Overall, it's a very outdated property andnot in a charming way.
- Krassimir (9/5): Superb -
- Cristiana (9/5): Superb - We really enjoyed our room view. An odd to nature it self! The staff simpathy and kindness - Gregório, was the best host. Explaining us the best way to reach Caminitos entrance. Super cool with us!
Loved it
- Ryma (8/5): Very good -
- Milli (8/5): We had a pleasurable stay here with peaceful woodland walks - Lovely place to stay and walk around. One of the main attractions Caminito del Rey (a George walk on a path built onto the cliff wall) needs to be booked in advance. We would have been happy to do this activity but the tickets were sold out 12 days in advance of our arrival. Our stop here was a spur of there moment decision so we can not complain.
- Alexander (8/5): Decent hotel - Good location. Nice staff. Decent price. The hotel and room are dated. It definitely needs an upgrade to bring it from the 1970s into the 3rd millenium.
The shower head would not stay connected, so needs to be fixed.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good -
- Laura (8/5): - Very convenient place to stay if you’re doing caminito del Rey. Scenic views and opportunities for hiking, cycling and exploring the countryside
- kelley (10/5): - Very nice hotel but breakfast was more expensive to book online than directly at the hotel
- Werner (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Best choice for visiting Caminito del Rey -
- Marnie (8/5): - Victor - the receptionist that checked us in, was very friendly. He apologized the restaurant was not open and guided us to a different one. We also asked for some ice, which we were delighted he delivered to us as we were planning to return to the desk to retrieve.
- Patricia (9/5): Superb - Great location
- Rhodri (9/5): Superb - Location, staff, views, cleanliness. Bed was a bit soft for my liking.
- Didier (8/5): - Hotel bueno y bien ubicado. Personal de recepción y restaurante muy atentos y agradables.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - I've stayed 3x @ Posada del Conde, great location, lovely ambience, friendly staff. Plus the hotel has gotten my tickets for the Caminito on 3 different occasions. Really appreciate the extra mile. Definitely will be back.
- Lubomir (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect and very friendly and helpful receptionist. Safe parking inside the object for 3 euros. Only 600 metres to the final's bus stop for entry to Caminito del Rey.
- Dana (8/5): Very good -
