The manager, Michelle, was very warm and hospitable - and went above and beyond to make sure we felt "at home". I will certainly consider this b n b first on the list when next holiday is planned!

• Verified traveler (6/5): - Very nice brownstone in a quiet neighborhood very close to Flatbush Ave. It was quiet because there was no-one else in the house, which could be a problem if something goes wrong. The kitchenette was stocked with various cereals and coffee and tea; there was also peanut butter and microwave popcorn.

• Anthony (8/5): Flatbush bed and breakfast - A very nice period building with nice features. However, the welcome was lacking abs there was no service or help at all. The area was an authentic taste of Brooklyn in Flatbush, however I it's not the most luxurious neighbourhood. Overall not a bad stay if you're just looking for a place to stay with no frills.
• Michael (10/5): Great place to stay in Brooklyn. - The bed and breakfast was cozy and convenient. It's easy to get to from the Prospect Park subway station (BQS). The neighborhood is beautiful with lots of shops lining Flatbush Avenue. The WiFi could be better though. The firewall needs some tweaking, since I had to switch to my own hotspot in order to access POP3 email.

• Trevor (8/5): Very good value - Very warm welcome from the housekeeper and a quiet place to stay. Prospect Park is lovely on a sunny day and really close by. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Access to central Brooklyn and Manhattan is very easy by the subway, as is JFK airport.
• Brendan (6/5): - The location was good. But the room was too small, inconvenience of four persons to one bathroom, door and key was a serious problem as it locks people out more often especially #5. The breakfast was not that good, and one had difficulty of getting immediate help.
• Louis (6/5): - It’s a bed WITHOUT breakfast. It provided us with basic sleeping conditions. Simply OK. Would not refuse to book again, but next time will certainly check out other options. The building and street have architectural interest and nearby Flatbush provided coffee and restaurants.

• Mildred (8/5): Good Alternative to Pricey Brooklyn Hotels - Loved the building on a pretty Brooklyn block close to the Q line which has direct access to Manhattan. (As with much of the area, some blocks are better than others.) Bed was comfortable, but unless you were on third floor you could hear everyone come and go on parquet floors. Breakfast was self-serve cereal and coffee. Rooms vary in size, from tiny to more than adequate. (I was assigned a tiny room on 3rd floor but there was a mix-up and I had a suite on second below loud footsteps. Seemed like a good place for parents visiting children but only if they live in small, nearby apartments on the same subway line.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Nice renovated Brooklyn Brownstone - beautiful brownstone, with kitchen facilities and convenient to subway and local restaurants. It was that it was a little hard to get in touch with person in charge. Good value for the money
• Verified traveler (6/5): Meh - Meh. If you like squeaky buildings and being woke to that have at it. Bathrooms are shared with other quests. Somehow the beds are even squeaker, so no matter what you do everyone will hear it. The bed was also hard as a rock.

The door locks on our room and on the bathroom door were difficult to use -- poorly installed new locks on old doors. Advertised as a "B & B", breakfast was only available at 7 a.m. after we inquired about it and at $10 addition charge (we declined). A list of neighborhood restaurants would be handy.
• Hannah (8/5): Very spacious for New York - We had a huge room, almost two adjoining spaces one with a TV and sofa, which we weren't expecting at all. Really comfortable and clean place on a lovely Street. Not far from the subway. Had everything we needed.

Run down, not cleaned the whole time we were there -including the bath / which was a shared bath though that was not clear. There were giant cockroaches in the bathroom. There was a bad smell throughout. Our towels were never changed. The furniture was run down and beat up. The host was never seen except on check in. Do not stay here.
• Sorbus (10/5): Charming interiors in a quiet spot of the city - Easy check in and was upgraded to a bigger room. Fairly priced. Extremely quiet for the location. Very clean rooms and well equipped kitchen. Comfortable furniture. Very spacious bathroom on each floor. It seemed like some of the other guests were regulars. Amazing interiors, with original woodwork and stained glass.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - It s near the subway station. Just 10min walk. I like the building, quaint but comfortable enough. It's on a very nice and quiet street. However the house keeper is not around most of the time. That s the only complaint.
• Traveler (2/5): Deceitful marketing! - I don't know if the woman who answered the door - if she's the owner or caretaker, but there's no pride in this bed & breakfast, it's very sterile. The "ebony" room is really a closet, there's no dresser, no mirror, a person can't turn around in the room without having to open and/or close the door. There were only 2 sets of towels in a dusty small closet. The bathroom is pretty roomy but there was a sizable clump of hair around a white plastic drainage in the bathtub - it was obviously not well-cleaned. The stove is pretty small and it didn't work, unless the other guests used matches. There are 3 guest-rooms on the 3rd/top floor and only 1 small table and 2 chairs in a small kitchenette. According to the website, the advertisement is $10 for breakfast but that's not true at all. You do your own cooking, but how can you if you didn't know that you need matches to light the stove and it's very small. The main floor is so bland and uninviting, it's as if the guests are discouraged from sitting at the dining room table for too long. There's no one around during the day, some guests arrived a little bit early than check-in, maybe 2 hours, they could only drop off their luggage and go back outside. I know this because I was the only only there when they rang the bell as I was on my way in and out. Even when I checked out, the woman wasn't there... what should be done with the used towels or the key. I would not recommend this bed & breakfast.

• Ann (8/5): - We really enjoyed staying at Lefferts Gardens Residence. The room was spacious and clean. It's a beautiful brownstone and the rooms are really lovely. The rooms are on the second and third floors. There is a shared bathroom per floor and a shared kitchenette on the third floor. If you enjoy choosing your own adventure while traveling, this is the place! My husband and I had fruit and cheese each morning in the kitchenette and then picked up pastries and coffee each morning at one of the local cafes. The neighborhood has several good restaurants that we tried, and many others that we didn't have time for! Be sure to stop into a West Indian market or deli. You won't be disappointed.

• Matt (6/5): Economical and Convenient - For the money it was worth it to stay there. It was the first bnb that I've ever stayed in that didn't include the breakfast unless you paid additional for it. So technically, it's a b! But we were still happy with our stay, and would stay there again with no problem. For NYC, we felt very safe, very convenient to subway, and a very unique stay. You cat get that atmosphere at a chain hotel!!! Thank you Michelle for having us!!
• Liv (6/5): Warm Atmosphere, An OK Stay - I had an OK time. My room was nice and quiet and had a great bed and look to it. Shared bathroom was fine too. I brought my own towels, because while there were towels offered in it, they were snatched up quickly and unless you want to ask for some, I would advise bringing your own. The b&b is very on-your-own and you don't see anyone else in the building aside from a couple other people who are staying. I thoroughly enjoyed the vintage and homey look and feel to it.
• Bob (6/5): No AC nor TV in the single room. - With no AC in the single room on a 90 + degree day, it was unbearable that night. I switched rooms the next day to a larger room with AC & TV. If I had known about the no AC, I would not have booked it. I did not see any warning on the website. The larger room was comfortable.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Bed and Breakfast - This is can old converted Brooklyn brownstone building. It is very nice and comfortable. You have your own room, quite large with bed, TV and air conditioning and towels for your use. My room is decorated with a lovely antique dresser, chair and a large walk-in closet. This pleased me.There two front rooms downstairs are open for anyones use. I noticed from the guestbook that a wedding was held there. Michele leaves some nice chocolates there in a large bow.l. The kitchen is fully stocked with cups, plates and utensils. Michele leaves water bottles, tea, coffee and cereal, soups etc for everyones use. You could also go shopping and cook there if you choose, a nice touch. The rooms are quiet and I didn't have any problems with the other residents. Sharing a bathroom, was a minor problem but since there are two of them I didn't have to wait. Once I learned where the subways and buses were (both on Lincoln road) getting around was easy. I was a little uncomfortable returning to Flatbush avenue at night but the street was well monitored by police and no one bothered me. I liked the restaurant Lincoln Station,on Eastern Parkway near the Museum and Tandori Indian food across the street on Flatbush AVe.
• Clifford (4/5): Disappointing - Breakfast was not offered or available. Wifi signal weak on upper floor and my room had no TV. Stayed 3 nights and never saw owner - which is weird for a B&B. Only positive was common kitchen had fridge, microwave and coffeemaker if you wanted to buy groceries to make your own breakfast
• Verified traveler (8/5): Clean and quiet - The room was clean and close to the subway. It only took about 25 minutes to get to Times Square station. Bus stop at the end of the road. mIchelle kindly arranged for someone to be there to let me leave my suitcase as I was arriving early. Large sized shared bathroom supplied with things that one might need such as hairdryer , body wash shampoo q tip etc.. Very handy as I had forgotten my tooth brush.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent b and b close to the metro. - We had a great time staying at Leffert's. The hotel is on a quiet street. The only issue is that as it is an old brown stone the floors do creek so you will hear other occupants in the morning but other then that we loved it. It's also very close to the metro and we had no problems coming back at midnight from shows on Broadway.
• Catherine (8/5): fun in Brooklyn - This facility is listed as a bed and breakfast. It is an old house built in approx. 1920. The stairs are very creaky, and you can hear whenever another guest goes up/down the stairs. Kitchen is a small room on the 3rd floor. There were only a few items to eat in the kitchen-you had to purchase your own items and bring them to the third floor. I think calling this facility rooms for rent with small shared kitchen is more accurate than calling it a B n B.
• John (6/5): Beautiful old brick home in a nice neighborhood - We were met by a very conversational and kind hotel staff--very nice to talk with. One bed was super comfortable and the pull out bed was the worst bed I have ever slept on. I did not realize from Travelocity or the hostess until after the stay that breakfasts were an extra coast, so I ended up with none. We also had a discrepancy about the bill--I paid for three people online but was charged $35 per night for my third person. Once we were settled the first night, we never saw the hostess the whole stay---could not find her anywhere. Neighborhood was beautiful. Subway nearby and taxis within minutes.
• Michael (10/5): - I very much enjoyed my stay. I was able to visit a little bit with Michelle (owner) and Saundra (sister), they were very nice and warm people. The room I had was great; nice large room, the bed was very comfortable. For the price sharing a bathroom was a minor inconvenience. I will be staying there again in the future!
• Regine (10/5): Absolutely beautiful Victorian home. - The lovely hostess make feel at home with a warm welcome however she is not inquisitive, she ask questions about your stay in order to know your taste to direct you to places you might like. Then, when you are satisfied with the advice she leaves in to enjoy your stay. The rooms are delightful, the beds are very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathrooms are clean. I already recommended this Bed and breakfast to friends and I plane on coming back there next year.
• ILoveNYC (6/5): Safe place to lay your head! - If you're going to stay in Brooklyn, this B&B is not not bad. Please note that it's actually not a B&B at all, it's just a B because there's no breakfast served (not even for purchase). The "hostess" shows you some boxes of cereal in the kitchenette, so maybe that's the breakfast. You're right off Flatbush which is full of shops and restaurants, however the street is quiet and you can actually get some good rest. The place wass cleaner than I thought it might be and the bathroom especially surprised with it's huge shower that was actually clean. The place is an antique though, with very squeaky stairs, and air conditioning only in the bedrooms, not the common rooms. The "hostess" (I believe her name was Sandra) was not that nice and didn't add to my experience. She was terrible but just didn't put forth much effort to be hospitable. However, my husband and young son didn't let that stop us from having a great NYC trip!
• myra (8/5): Beautiful place in unique location - Very clean. Sondra was there to greet us but the lack of sign was not helpful. Residential neighborhood close to shops and transportation. Breakfast is non-existent (boxes of cereal) but nice kitchenette with coffee making possibilities, stove,fridge and micro. Lots to do in area and 30 minutes by subway to the city. Recommend!
• oli (4/5): No happy with the aelection - The room was in the third floor and it had not elevator, we shared the kitchen and bathroom with other 3 guests and we had to clean clean up our room and kitchen after U.S. for the week we paid there; it was our first time in a bed and breakfast place And I didn't enjoy it.
• Joyce (8/5): Perfectly fine - I have stayed here two years in a row since my son lives a couple of blocks away in Brooklyn. this is a very nice place, very clean, and recently painted, with new lamps, and I had a flat screen TV in my room. there is no breakfast served here, but there is a kitchen, coffee and tea pots, coffee and tea, and other cereals in the cupboard. But there are many cute breakfast places around ( I recommend Tip of the Tongue, at 243 Lincoln), and there are delis in which to buy food, and bring to the hotel. You must share a bathroom, but the rooms themselves are very nice and so are the two bathrooms. The only problem for me is that you cannot avoid steps, because the rooms are on the second and third floors, as well as the bathrooms and kitchen. We once had a large suite on the first floor, but you still must climb the steep steps for the bathroom on the 2nd. The neighborhood is beautiful, with tree lined streets and flowers, and the homes are Million $ plus homes. Very pretty, safe, inexpensive, and secure.
• Andi (8/5): Comfortable room and convenient to bus and subway. - Not for older folks with bad knees or hips, no elevator. Charming row house on quiet street. Access to kitchen and living room. Breakfast is not provided, but cereal and coffee, tea and water available. Bathroom next to room, large and clean. Staff very friendly and accomodating. I asked for a bedside table for my c-pap and she brought me up a card table that fit between the bed and large leather living room type chair. Perfect for reading and writing material along with the T.V. remote for when you just want to relax.
• Scott (8/5): A clean, well-lighted room... - I stayed in the Ebony Room for four nights, and this is the best bargain in New York. Located in a charming neighborhood just east of Prospect Park, just a few minutes' walk from the Prospect Park MTA station, with frequent service on the Q and N trains. Flatbush Avenue offers a widely diverse selection of restaurants and shops, all very convenient. The Ebony Room is just large enough for a twin bed, with a good-sized closet. The bed was excellent (a fine, firm mattress), and the room has lots of light. The shared bathroom just down the hall was spacious, spotlessly clean, and it was never a problem getting in. (There's another lovely bathroom on the first floor in case the 2nd floor one is occupied.) The shared kitchen contains modern appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave), and is the perfect place to make breakfast or a snack. (Guests can request a full breakfast in advance - for a modest fee - but I never took advantage of that.) I felt completely safe here, and I will definitely return for a future stay.
• Katie (4/5): Adequate, but would not stay there again. - We stayed here because of its proximity to prospect park, where we were attending a wedding. Other than the park, there is not much within walking distance. The room needed a deep cleaning - lots of dirt under the bed and in the window sills, several of the wood flooring pieces were loose or missing. Michelle overcharged us for the 3rd person we had staying in our room ($40 instead of $35 a night), and tried to charge us extra for a late checkout even though the website states you can request a late checkout until 12:30 for no additional cost.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Beyond the expectation - This stay was really incredible. I chose this place because of the cheap price compared to other places. I expected it to be mediocre hotel since they offer at decent price but it turned out to be really comfortable place to stay . Staffs are very friendly and you get to use kitchen, fridge and so on . Room was very clean also. You can access to a train station about 5 minutes and supermarkets, restaurants are nearby and convenient.
