Mary030303 (10/5): Highly recommend! - We loved our stay at this hotel. The location was perfect. Our room overlooked the harbor with beautiful sunrise views. The beds were comfy. Our reservation included breakfast, which allowed you to pick one entree off of the menu and one specialty coffee. As a tourist, we used the hop on hop off bus, a stop was directly across the street from this hotel. Lots of restaurant options are close by.

David Wines SA (9/5): Historic and nicely renovated. - The best possible location in Hobart I reckon. Wharfs right across the road, Salamanca Place full of bars and restaurants very close as is the city centre and any number of cafes, bakeries and restaurants. Could be a bit noisy because of the busyness around it and the popularity of the hotel bar, but I don't mark it down too much for that, it's part of the atmosphere of the place.

Mel O'Brien (8/5): Great value and an excellent location - Our room was clean, beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of space for us all. The location of the hotel is perfect and included breakfast is a bonus. The bathroom could have done with some more space on the vanity and some blackout blinds would be great considering the room gets light from the street.

Great breakfast included and table service. A very comfortable bed, room a little shabby in places. Excellent location and great view from our bedroom on top floor. Friendly staff. Main carpet throughout needed replacing, very shabby, quite a few stairs to climb, but we were aware of that when booking. Could be a bit noisy at night outside due to the busy area.

Unfortunately our room wasn't in the customs house but next door which was disappointing as that was why I picked the hotel. And expensive. The twin bed downstairs in the apartment is suitable only for kids as legs went over the end of the bed. Reception staff person in the morning wasn't there so had to find her to check out and whilst we were able to leave bags honestly anyone could of walked off street and taken them. Very casual experience. Breakfast is in the restaurant downstairs, which is nice and staff attentive but food well below average and small portion. Given the price wasn't impressed and wouldn't recommend.

Parking is easy to arrange and budget friendly. Staff were friendly and the room / ensuite was neat and clean. Due the building being very old, the third floor is not serviced by a lift. If you can’t do stairs, be sure to contact them first to ensure your room is serviced by a lift.

Kelly (7/5): Fab location, good value, but needs a spruce up - Absolutely excellent location, right on the waterfront and 1 minute from MONA ferry and Salamanca market. Breakfast included in price which is very good value. I had one of the older rooms in the hotel, there were parts of the room that just needed a really good clean, like window sills and bedside lamps. Hotel sits atop a pub and it has live music at weekends, if you are noise sensitive this probably isn't the place for you.

Kirsty (10/5): A terrific place to stay and explore Hobart - Firstly the hotel is in a fantastic location. Short easy walking distance to the CBD, shops, cafes and restaurants. It is right on the waterfront with a lovely view and park across the road. The Salamanca markets are less than 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The daily breakfast was brilliant. So many choices and catered for my friend who is quite fussy and also lactose intolerant. Great coffees every morning. Lovely old world character building. The bar is a great place to have a drink before dinner. Loved the shower and the rooms were very quiet, peaceful and relaxing.

Jennifer (8/5): Can't beat the location, good value for the money. - Amazing location. They gave us a free upgrade to a room with amazing view of the wharf and larger space. The hotel rooms are a little dated and musty. The bathroom was fine but again dated and needed a little maintenance (caulking peeling in shower). Overall, good value for the $ just don't expect deluxe accommodations. They have one washer and dryer which are coin operated, very handy. They warn you that the hotel has lots of stairs and unusual set up, all true, but they do warn you ahead of time. Included breakfast was very good with lots of options. Furniture/carpeting need a refresh.
