Guest Reviews
- 1john316 (6/5): Very noisy when they are many Mainland Chinese guests - This hotel is very reasonably priced. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the air-con works well. Bed linen and bath towels are very clean. But the breakfast is terrible - looks like it caters to the Chinese guests. Very noisy when there are many guests from China.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room has big space but the the light is too dull. Old but clean. Unpleasant neighborhood.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good enough mid-price hotel by Cambobia standards - The hotel is good enough compared to other mid-price hotels in Cambodia. The Wifi is better than others in that range. There are few daytime restaurants within 200 meters of the hotel. But four open only at night. The hotel has the same breakfast every day, and a few foods for lunch and dinner. There are few shops near selling packaged foods and other neccessities.
- hai_dang_ng (6/5): Rain Rock Hotel - The Rain Rock Hotel at Phnompenh. Room is cleaning, with balcony, big room.
Linen and towel set up in room good.
breakfast is so bad, not good. Coffee and tea do not set up ice.
Smell in restaurant very strong
- khmeifucan (10/5): Good hotel. - Don’t miss this Hotel if you are visiting the great city. The hotel is amazing & Staff is extremely good. All the best to the hotel and people visiting. A clean and nice place to stay in the city. Good experience
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel is dusty! Breakfast sucks! It's very noisy because 99% are Chinese from mainland.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Arvin (6/5): Doors are banging! - Chiinese Guest are Noisy!!!! They bang their doors all the time and they talk at the corridor with shouting tone consistently.
- pheara (8/5): Hôtel calme bon rapport qualité prix - Hôtel calme bon rapport qualité prix personnel sympathique et arrangeant si départ tardif
- khmeifucan (10/5): Good place to stay - A good place to stay. Not much expensive. Breakfast is ok, but you get good enough compared to what you spend. Cleanliness is extremely good. Recommended if you happen to visit cambodia. But the place is away from river side where tourist stay actually.
- Pak Ngak (10/5): Good but Toilet smell fishy a bit - Comfort and clean bed and bed sheet. But Toilet smell a bit fishy. Overal, it is good.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - Spent two nights. Hotel is clean and rooms are comfortable. Some confuse on free airport transfer but it was worked out. Price included breakfast. First morning breakfast absolutely disgusting. What was remaining was exposed, not covered in any manner. Everything including coffee was cold. Very limted selection. No, explanations or any concern from dining staff. Second day, I did not even waste my time to check. Apparently tour bus books this hotel on regular basis or maybe just my luck. About 5 rooms per floor and the tour bus guest had no common courtesy. They shouted, played music , stomped around from room to room with all rooms open. My observations are unless your Chinese touring you might find this hotel disapponting. The rooms are nice though.
- RobAmsden (8/5): Great 3+ star hotel. - My wife and I spend just one night at this hotel as part of a tour of Siem Reap and Phnom Penh with Vietravel.com This is a very clean and nice boutique size hotel. Breakfast is included. I would definitely return to this hotel.
- Jenanime (6/5): Clean rooms and nice decor but limited breakfast selection! :) - This hotel has a fabulous Cambodian mural leading up to reception reminiscent of some of the decor found at the Angkor Wat temple. I found the receptionists' English to be slightly lacking and it took a few goes sometimes to ask them a question before they understood.
The room itself was basic but very clean. For a 3* hotel, the facilities were good and I liked that slippers and toothbrushes were provided. WIFI speed was alright but sometimes in the evenings could suddenly go off and come back an hour or two later. There's a spa and massage centre located a few minutes walk away from the hotel if you fancy unwinding after a long day exploring Phnom Penh.
Some mainland Chinese tourists were a bit noisy during the night in the corridors, which was a bit annoying for sleep but that's not the hotel's fault (I guess my advice would be to bring some earplugs to combat potential noisy neighbours). Breakfast is limited especially the fruit section (I only got hold of two pieces of dragonfruit the first morning I was there and no fruit was available during my second morning) so I recommend you get to the breakfast room located on Level 8 as early as possible. A decent hotel for the price though! :)
- draganasimictravel89 (8/5): Good - Hotel is 20 mins walk from the centre. It is very clean hotel with very large rooms. Bathroom is small but clean. Breakfast is very poor for my taste. I ate better. Staff is good. Wi fi is very low when you are on 5th floor.
- Nathan (6/5): great but far - the hotel is great...the problem is that it is very far from where things are. i didnt even bother to negotiate with tuk tuk drivers because i felt bad for how far they had to take me..and i only saved 10 bucks a night over a place on the river
- Longinasia (10/5): Great place to stay - The service was very good and helpful always. The rooms were unexpectedly clean and well fit with all the amenities one needs while travelling. It is definitely a great value and a place I will return to..
- haleemahg (10/5): clean room, clean toilet , nice firm bed, - an excellent place to stay. wonderful.
fits my OCD criteria.
the recep lady is very helpful.... how? she recommended me place of halal restaurant. and even direct the tuk tuk rider. it was a mistake not knowing her name.. but I WILL STILL COME BACK HERE
- Phillip443 (6/5): Average Hotel - The location is good. The breakfast not much selection. The room is quite small and not so clean, but acceptable for short stay. The service need to improve, because when you call to front desk no greeting (just say hello). Take order room service needed to pay upon foods arrived, when I asked could I pay when checking out, they said no because their is separate restaurant. My order beef loklak, is not the same menu (served with eggs) but no eggs, the order time one hour for beef loklak. Also my team order beef burger very terrible burger, they don't eat. The hotel mostly Chinese people with very noisy, during their checked in we cannot sleep, when they speak very loudly, close the door bump bump, and the emergency alarm always ring. Very bad attitude people, after they leaved we went to breakfast but everything empty. Not recommend for longer stay people.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Philmod (8/5): Average hotel but not the best location - We got a free night to Rain Rock Hotel, the hotel is nice with free breakfast.
But the location could be better, you need a tuktuk to go from/to touristic places. Although you'll find many busy restaurants around.
- Karl (8/5): Nice hotel in jungle style gardens . - Nice hotel , 1 or 2 $ US by tuk tuk away from centre of Siem Reip. Cheap laundries nearby.
Happy hour from 1 PM to PM
Wi Fi ,TV & aircon work well .
- RubenL_13 (8/5): Betterer the Third Time Around - My third stay in Rain Rock was BETTERER with a larger and better located room. At first had a small problem with the water heater in the bathroom but staff promptly attended to it and got it worked right immediately. There was not much of a choices in the breakfast buffet though and the omelette that I ordered wasnt done too well. Still this last stay was BETTERER than the other first two.
- Reks (8/5): Nice hotel - Always stay here when I go to Phnom Penh! Rooms are good for what you pay for. Staff are super friendly and very helpful. Love the noodle soup and eggs for breakfast cooked fresh. Bit far from everything but suits my situation :)
- uzzul (8/5): Quite OK, except for the location - I stayed 2 nights in a Superior Double A/c room.
The location is the only real downside to this place. It's on a poorly made road, too far out of the city. But don't let that disappoint. Because of that it is very good value and a bit above 'budget', located about half way between city and the airport. They provided one trip by Tuk-Tuk to the riverside per day - the rest is up to you.
If they tell you there is no decent food nearby, they are wrong - search it out! They just want to support the drivers who wait outside. Cheap laundry services are just across the road.
They were supposed to meet me at the airport, but did not - but they made up for it in other ways: they have decent comfortable rooms, the staff is pleasant, the air con is good and I would stay there again!
- hatrinh630 (8/5): Good services and friendly staffs - I have been staying in Rain Rock Hotel in Phnom Penh for 2 nights. Its a very good hotel, clean and safety, the staffs are very friendly, the room is nice with Europe style, very comfortable. The breakfast is served not very nice but its ok. The location is quite convenient to explore Phnom Penh city. The price is very good and the services is deserved with the price. I would love to go back Phnom Penh and stay at this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great hotel! - I've stayed at this hotel a few times. Great hotel, comfortable and value for money! Staff very nice and helpful.
- nicathetraveler (8/5): Buffet is YUMMY - I specifically love their breakfast buffet which is included in our checked in room. Very friendly staff and a cozy room. Good for a very hot weather in Phnom Penh. Although they didn't change our towels and beddings during our stay. Still, it was a memorable experience
- Verified traveler (8/5): Generally okay - Decent hotel with decent price, aircon are not really cold, toilet is nice, bed is comfy
- 989kapilk (10/5): Now that's what a Hotel should be like! - Booked this hotel through hotels.com and the decision was purely based on the price and the pictures of the hotel.
I checked in and they gave a room with double bed. I am a solo traveler so I highly prefer twin disjoint beds in the room. Put forward my request and next morning they gave me a room of my choice. I was on 7th floor so not a lot of noise from the streets.
About the rooms : large, spacious, mini bar, big LCD TV with great channels, nice huge wardrobe, safe in room, very comfortable beds, very clean and comfortable bathroom, small working table, chairs in room, aircon, phone, ultra-friendly staff with big smiles to make your day. They have a good laundry service (chargeable - ofcourse) and there is nothing I didnt like about this hotel.
You are 2.5 Kms from Sisowath (river front), tuk tuk takes $4 one way and the local mobikes drop you there for $1. They have parking (though I didnt use as I dont have a vehicle). The breakfast was complimentary and a good selection of food.
The free hotel wifi is very fast. So fast that you can Facetime with your family with a great experience.
This is an inexpensive hotel but the services and quality is certainly comparable to a 3.5-4 start hotel. Have a good stay here - I recommend this hotel.
- jess (8/5): Lovely hotel - Hotel staff were nice helpful. Hotel met standards, good for the price!
Gentleman who worked in the hotel as a porter offered to be our tuk tuk driver one evening. Was extremely inappropriate and felt cheated by him so paid him one way instead of return and got another driver. That was the only negative point.
- eriolyle (8/5): Cheap and Clean! - Stayed their for one night and have to say that the room was spacey with large single beds and amini dining room too. Plus a balcony to boot! Staff were friendly and accommodating (they even changed currencies for us and helped with directions) and the rooms clean too!
- MOON TONG (8/5):
- Anhien (10/5): Cheap, clean, wonderful services - I came Phnom Penh to participate an international conference. I decided to book this hotel via booking.com and stayed at the hotel for 3 days. The price was very affordable. I have to say that I was totally satisfied with the service. The staff were super friendly, helpful whenever I needed helps. Free breakfasts were offered everyday. It turned out to be much better than I expected. My room was clean, clear and well-equipped. I strongly recommend this hotel if someone come to visit Phnom Penh. Definitely, this is the best choice for tigh-budget travelling.
- Thundercatsarego (8/5): Cheap but cheerful - We stayed here after a twelve hour flight to the capital before heading down to the coast.
After a twelve hour flight I was pretty made up to see a clean room complete with bed and hot shower! The hotel only cost $17 a night so we weren't expecting anything amazing but the room was large, spotlessly clean, had AC, a good bathroom, wifi, TV (but with limited channels) and breakfast was included. The breakfast was basic - we just had eggs but it looked like there were a lot of other choices. Staff were helpful and very friendly.
The hotel was a quick tuc-tuc ride from the river where most of the decent bars and restaurants are located. If your on a budget I would recommend the Rain Rock Hotel as its clean cheap and cheerful hence why ive rated it very good.
- 85Fred69 (8/5): Nice modern cheap and friendly hotel - We spent 2 nights with children in this hotel (2 rooms).
Everybody was very friendly and helpful with us.
The street of the hotel is quiet. It's true it was a little bit noisy in the hotel, but not so much.
The rooms we stayed were comfortable, the bathroom was OK
Breakfast room on the top of the hotel offers a nice view on the city, breakfast choice was nice with hot and cold dishes
- Jonas (10/5): Good value for the money - Very good personal and some cheap nice tuktuk that was associatet with the hotel. Very good value for the money with a good breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): My comments over Rain Rock Hotel in Phnom Penh - t's a good hotel, except that the wifi connection was pretty poor
- Dashing2124 (2/5): Cheap hotel, terrible location - I stayed here looking for a good deal, and failed to research the general location before making the reservation. If you're planning on navigating through Phnom Pehn to sightsee via tuk-tuk, and don't speak Khmer, expect issues with them not being to find this obscure location.
The room had an unpleasant stench. The shower water wouldn't heat up. The room was small, but overall pretty comfortable.
Overall, I had a decent experience here. The hotel was fairly cheap, the location was just terrible. I think I spent all the money I saved on the room on tuk-tuks. One night I had to take 3 different tuk-tuks back to find the place, spent as much as the room cost.
- John & Jane (8/5): lokasi ok kecuali isu kebersihan sekitar. - ok, boleh jadi balik lagi.
- John BK Khoo (8/5): - Fair Price & good service. t.q.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice clean hotel - The service and room were very nice. The only trouble we had was that the linens could have used more attention and the location was hard to find. Other than that, a great hotel.
- shersuri (8/5): great - Nice hotel, Very friendly staff. Especially the staff at buffet breakfast. Location is a bit away from the Riverside, but is just 4$ and 7 minutes away.
- Deetom (6/5): Ok hotel - Stayed for a night only before flying out. It was ok and only for a night.
- Mathew (10/5): Clean and super comfy place, with great service - It is really a great place to stay, did not encounter any difficulties or problem while we were there. The rooms and toilets were clean. Bed was comfy.. Location wise it not the best but you can easily get the hotel tuk yuk, the price is reasonable. Definitely value for money =)
- Verified traveler (8/5): hotel in phnompen - nice hotel at a decent price. helpful staff and decent breakfast buffet. Neighborhood is quite crowded and not that pleasant, but hotel itself is quite decent. The only unpleasant thing is they offer free tuktuk pickup, but actually it's not completely free. you will have to have obligation to use the same tuk tuk guy to the airport . If you like the guy, it's okay, but we didn't like him, because he keep quoting more price than outside (you get tuktuk by yourself) or hotel recommended price whenever we use his tuktuk.
- Keith (8/5): Nothing - Miles from anywhere but surrounded by great hawkers and restaurants. Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. Food runs out for breakfast so get there early!
- Brian (10/5): Tricky to find, but good bars nearby - Tuk Tuk driver had a hard time finding the place, even though it's just off a fairly major road. The decor was fantastic, very high class, especially for the rate. A couple good bars and cafes close by. Staff was extremely polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Phnom Penh (ladies in particular).
- Elyse (10/5): Short but sweet stay - I got in late and had a driver waiting for me to take me to the Rain Rock Hotel. Everything was nice and easy, and the room was great for what I needed it for. Had an enjoyable breakfast on th rooftop to end my short stay. Dodnt see any of the surrounding area, but I recommend to others.
Kiitos !
- Verified traveler (8/5): Danh gia khach san Rain Rock, Phnom Penh - Nhan vien quan ly khach san niem no. Phục vụ tốt. Tôi sẽ quay trở lại.
- scoty (8/5): Worth It - Found this hotel by fluke. New and clean it is a very nice hotel for a good price. The area is very suburban and a little intimidating (not where tourists go normally) but i found the people to be friendly and helpful. Also found a few local restaurants and snooker bars which were inviting. Need to be adventurous to enjoy the area, use common sense. Transport is an issue but the hotel provided so no problem. Breakfast is plain but sufficient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): good value for money - I stayed there for 3 nights with friends. Location is not very good, far from river side but the money I paid is really low. I tried calculating many times how they are earning with this rent. Air conditioning is good. rooms are of decent size. but you are not allowed to open the window till 4th floor. they are always locked. breakfast is not very good but not bad either. Bathrooms are big. you will not regret if you stay there. try to book twin beds as room is really big.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not the best - In a very poor area not suitable for walking in. Car repair businesses and sales all around. No local restaurants, not a pleasant environment.
The hotel is comfortable enough, staff friendly, breakfast could be improved.
Overall would not stay there again.
- sam (8/5): good - A good place for the price. I had good time. Bath room could have been designed better.
