- michaelt238874Y (10/5): An Amazing Small Hotel in the Old Town - We had recently spent two wonderful nights at the Hotel Vestibule Palace, in the main building. We arrived by car and waited for the staff at the car park. We contacted the hotel via WhatsApp, which was handy. For a first time visitor it is advisable to wait for the hotel staff to guide you than trying to find your own way. There are a lot of stairs to navigate and the hotel itself does not have a lift. It is therefore important to be aware of this fact so as not to be disappointed. Our room was located on the second floor. The room itself is a little small but comfortable, well decorated and comes with all the usual amenities. Breakfast was excellent. The food was served in a three tier tray, like in a high tea. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They managed to help me find a tour guide at short notice and recommended restaurants in the area, which we found to be great choices. Overall the location of Hotel Vestibule Palace was excellent and the staff were amazing. As long as you have no trouble with the stairs this is a perfect place to stay in Split.

- CaymanMike (10/5): Best staff ever! - The Hotel Vestibul Palace is part of the Hilton LSH small botique collection. It has 7 rooms with 4 more in a an annex a few meters away (try to stay in the main hotel, (not annex). I can honestly say that we have never had a nicer and friendlier staff than at the Vestibul. Gettint to the hotel is a bit tricky if you do not know Split. We happened to arrive in the pouring down rain which did not help. Instructions were to contact the staff through Whats App once we entered the main parking lot of the old town, but ours was not working so we were forced to find the hotel on our own. A few twists and turns and directions from a tour guide got us there. The manager quickly arranged for someone to see to our car and to bring our luggage to the hotel. While we were waiting he offered us 2 cold glass of bubbly which tasted great after a challenging drive in the rain from Korcula. An upgrade was available for the 1st night of our 2 night stay and we gladly accepted. The upgrade was to the junior suite. The following night we were in the classic room we had originally reserved. My recommendation, if you can afford it, is to book the junior suite from the beginning. Both rooms were very nice but the junior suite gives you more moving around space and is more comfortable. The manager (Ivan) gave us a quick, but thorough overview of Split including a map of the town. We ate dinner at the hotel's Magnus Restaurant and the food and wine were excellent. The hotel was located right next to the Vestibul. If you get up and out around 7:30 or so you can take wonderful pictures while the Vestibul and Plaza are totally empty. In a short time both will be filled with hundreds of people. Obviously, the location of the hotel is a real plus..located in the middle of the Palace and easy to come back to if you need to put your feet up for a while. We had breakfast in the courtyard with all sorts of items available and food cooked to order. If you're looking for a great hotel with fantastic staff this is the place. We hated to leave.
- kleighd917 (10/5): Execellent Service, special location. - I cant say enough great things about this hotel staff. Steven (sp?) and Ivan in particular were so wonderful. We had some issues with our booking (our fault not the hotel's) and Steven went out of his way to support us offering professional and personal insights. He also checked on us to make sure everything went well. Ivan also went above and beyond to provide solutions and support and personalized service. Also both men were so nice and funny and knowledgeable. Very interesting and intelligent gentleman. Had a great time chatting with them. The hotel itself is lovely and worth the extra effort to access. However because of its location inside the palace walls be sure to coordinate your arrival and departure with the staff.

He then walked us through the old town to where we were staying, explaining the history and how to find the other hotel building. Our room itself was excellent - good air conditioning, a very comfortable bed and a warm, powerful shower. The hotel breakfasts were anazing - a lovely platter of fruit and cheese and a wide menu to choose from. Thank you - a great stay in a lovely city.

From anticipating my arrival (and helping me with my luggage), assisting me with booking a private boat tour, dinner reservations, and more, they delivered top notch service. I felt so comfortable and welcomed. Location can’t be beat next to the vestibule. The main hotel is beautiful and room was very comfortable. I spent two of the four nights in the Villa. I liked the more quiet location, but felt like the room quality was not the same as the main hotel. The price difference properly reflected this, so I thought it was fair. Highly recommend Hotel Vestibul Palace for your visit to Split!

- Frank (10/5): - There are not many, if any, places in the world where you can stay in a hotel, built into a Roman palace constructed in 305 AD. This is a UNESCO certified sight. This alone makes it a bucket list hotel. The staff were unbelievably friendly, welcoming, never said no to any requests. Eleven rooms total, so you are just a number here. You will be Treated liked royalty. They even have a licensed guide on staff that you can hire when he finishes his shift. His name is Tonchi, and he can give you the entire history of the area, the culture, the conquests of the area dating back to the time of Christ. He’s also the manager of food service, and the food is wonderful If you are looking for a regular sized, been there, done that hotel room, go to a Hilton. If you want to experience a piece of history, pack your bags.

We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and sat outside in the beautiful courtyard. The food was delicious and our waiter, Moreno, was absolutely lovely and he had incredible knowledge of Croatia - which was fascinating to hear. Moreno also served us breakfast the next morning and his customer service is exceptional, other guests beside us also commented the same - he is definitely an asset to the hotel. He made us feel so welcome and our stay a memorable one.

The service from Ivan and the entire team was truly outstanding — warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. They guided us step-by-step, including helping with luggage from the parking lot directly to our room — a level of service we deeply appreciated. This property is in such a cool and historic location - we really enjoyed being in the center of everything. We felt so welcomed, and the touch of a welcome drink was very thoughtful. Our room was well designed. We did think that for a luxury property the lack of coffee service in the room was noticeably absent, and the bedding, towels, and mattress could use updating. Our breakfast in the morning was perfect - and the patio outside was super charming. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again when we visit Split. Thanks, Ivan and team!
- T7608BVamyb (4/5): Not worth it... - The only positive I can give is the breakfast. Our room was in another building that was quite a bit away from the lobby. We had to climb three flights of stairs to get to our room...and then another STEEP flight in the room to get to the bed. We never saw anyone and never received any help, etc. When I mentioned something upon checkout the man at the desk was beyond rude. We had wonderful stays during our 2 weeks in Croatia and this one was NOT one of them. I cannot say anything positive since we never interacted with anyone and the room was lacking (no counter space in bathroom, small uncomfortable couch).
- RangerHat (6/5): Beautiful Hotel with a Tricky Layout - The hotel is charming and beautifully maintained, but the rooms are quite small and feel a bit cramped. One thing to note is that the reception and the guest rooms are located in separate buildings, which made the layout a bit confusing—I almost got lost trying to find my way around. While the staff kindly helped carry my suitcase, it was a bit inconvenient that I had to walk back to the reception area for breakfast in the morning. That said, the breakfast itself was excellent—it’s made to order and everything I tried was delicious. The staff were also very friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which made the overall experience more pleasant despite the minor inconveniences.
- VALENTIN_0258 (8/5): Old town Split - We deliberately chose this hotel of the 4 star category, because it is located directly in the city centre of old Split. The staff of the hotel are characterised by a pronounced courtesy and helpfulness. This starts with check-in, where they picked us up at the parking lot about 150 metres away and had to carry the luggage due to local conditions. The communication in English works excellently and the organisation of our stay was simply very, very satisfying. I can only recommend this hotel for city breaks. You can’t be more caring with a guest than it did here.

Steven: His impeccable attention to my emails and his prompt responses were impressive. The moment I stepped into the hotel, he went over and beyond to make me feel at home—courteously gave me the news of room upgrade with the coffee kettle/ironing board with iron—offered drinks in lobby, provided detailed instructions of important landmarks to visit with step by step directions, booked my tour to Krka/Trojir/Skradin, personally gave me history lesson of the hotel, he walked me to the Vestibul place with his maestro singing echoing in the dome/roof/walls like orchestra acoustics. Next day Steve again went an extra mile to walk me to the Gray Line bus tour office. After I entered the room, there was a personal note from Mr. Nenad which was touching. Manager Valentino is professional, compassionate and kind to let me know that the restaurant Chef would be glad to cook anything I wanted since I had dietary restrictions. Petar's insight into Salona ruins impelled me to visit them. Marina and Tony’s help in arranging transportation from the hotel to the airport cannot be ignored. Housekeeping was immaculate, Morning breakfast was more than perfect. Ana capped the finale with bidding me goodbye and walking out to

On arrival, we were made to feel immediately welcome, with the manager congratulating us on arriving without help. He remarked that the Vestibul’s location in the maze of the old town could be confusing, so they were happy to offer to meet and guide guests from their taxi or shuttle bus to the hotel. That level of service set the stage for our two-night stay in the hotel, which was situated right on the edge of the city’s huge Roman palace and utilised some of its historic walls. We were given a comfortable bedroom with a higher ceiling on the first floor thus saving me from possible head injuries given my excessive height! We enjoyed a lovely dinner on the patio immediately outside the hotel as well as an impressive breakfast on both mornings consisting of a three tiered assorted platter. At all times all the staff were very helpful and professional, with a level of courtesy and attention to detail that raised this hotel above the normal expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed our albeit brief visit and look forward to staying here again. The Vestibul is an unusual and individual hotel: a gem in the middle of roman Split, and we are more than happy to recommend it to others.

- thebertul (6/5): Highly overpriced. - This is incredibly overpriced for the experience. Let me start with the fact that it can be a bit difficult to get to in Split without explicit instructions. You're dragging your luggage through cobblestones and it's somewhat difficult to find. The woman who checked us in was super friendly, very helpful, and kind. We booked it as it was listed as a Hilton property....I'm a LONG time Hilton Diamond member, but it's almost as if there are no Hilton perks associated with this hotel. The Dobric Villa is a couple of block walk away from check in. Very steep steps, and nobody ever worked this desk at the Villa, even though we were told there would be. The room itself is up 2 flights of stairs once inside the building which is up steep stairs. The bedroom is in a loft which has a very steep sloped roof...if you are tall, or older...don't book. The stairs to get up are tough. If you have to get up in the middle in the night to use the downstairs bathroom, it can be treacherous. Lastly, the front desk guy Ivan was a bit of a rude person. I noticed he was constantly apologizing to other guests for missteps. He was rude and short with my wife, and I kind of wanted to address it with him, but felt it unnecessary. Bottom line for 370 Euros a night, it was not anywhere near worth that.

Staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful and made parking simple and straightforward, even though it is in a pedestrian zone in the busiest part of the city. Breakfast is wonderful and delicious!

They arranged a car for us from the airport, and since vehicles aren’t allowed in Old Town, they sent two people to take our luggage to our rooms. From start to finish, the service was outstanding. They suggested excellent restaurants, organized a tour of the Palace and Old Town, and packed a delicious lunch for us when we went to Plitvice for the day. Make sure to request Tonci for a tour … he is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us a familiarity with the area that was so helpful in making the most of our stay. Highly, highly recommend.

- 241dellad (6/5): A nice place, but needs a bit of thought. - We had a nice holiday. Our hotel was actually the villa Dobric, a short walk from the main hotel . Our room was clean and modern, but the the curtains could do with hanging properly. Unfortunately, very noisy people were occupying the room above us for the first couple of days[I am assuming it was a hotel room above us!] as they were continually moving furniture, and dragging it across the floor, at all times of the night. We could not understand it! I wear ear plugs, but they did not help! It was like they were in the room with us! Not the hotels fault [assuming it WAS holidaymakers] but worth noting if anyone has trouble sleeping. We went across to Hotel Vestibul every morning, for breakfast which was ok. We were under the impression it was a ' buffet breakfast' when we booked, which is usually an array of food laid out, so you can go up and pick what you want, and how much you want. This breakfast came on a 3 tier cake stand, with enough food on it- 1 choc croissant, 1 plain croissant, small cubes, and slices of cheese, some meats, fruit and bread, but it did not always look fresh. If we were there at 7 am it wasn't too bad, but later in the morning, the fruit looked dried and I didn't fancy the meat. We were able to have cooked food too, and my husband said it was quite nice. My biggest gripe was that the tea, served in a single person cup and pot, had a badly cracked cup each time! After the 2nd time, I mentioned it, then it was back on the table the next day! The 4th time it came out , as well as my plate having 3 chips out of it, I made the server replace them both. Why weren't they thrown out! We spoke to a lady sitting next to us, who was not impressed by the breakfast, and we were witness to a lady querying her bill at the reception desk and I did not feel she was dealt with professionally. The staff were very pleasant, but we both felt something wasn't quite right.

Wow. Thoroughly recommended, and the tour groups coming through the square looked thoroughly jealous.

In spite of our short stay, the staff was immensely helpful in assisting with complicated transfers prior to our arrival. The private driver company they work with is top-notch, and went above and beyond. Once at the fabulous small hotel, we were warmly welcomed to the perfect location and fabulous accommodations. The reception staff personally carried our bags up the hotel, as well as to our rooms. The breakfast was phenomenal. Definitely will return.

We saw it advertised outside, and decided to go on a whim. We are so glad we did. The wines were amazing and the tapas were also very nice. The thing that made it so special was our sommelier Frane Kovač. He really took the time to talk us through the history of the wines, the country, how to appreciate the wines and to answer all our questions. His pride in the country and passion for the wine really made the experience for us. Thank you.

Also one of my hotel room walls was an original Roman wall! The staff were also so friendly & considerate- fantastic service. I will definitely try to stay again the next time I visit Split.

But it’s a small price to pay for the atmosphere and location. The rooms are very nice and the staff exceptional.

The staff was so friendly, welcoming, knowledgable. In my opinion the rooms were bigger for European boutique hotel standards. The breakfast included was delicious and quite a large amount of food was offered in 2 courses. My husband and I would definitely come back/recommend this hotel to friends & family.

- martinbB2438GU (10/5): Always a delight to make a return visit - Our third visit to this small and intimate hotel set in the heart of the Diocletian’s Palace beside the ancient Roman vestibule walls. A joy in its simple elegance with well-appointed and comfortable rooms in a modern style - you are very much looked after by the friendly and welcoming staff. The Hotel Vestibul is in a great location for exploring the city and only a short walk from the port if your trip is to take you further afield in this beautiful part of the world. Breakfast (amazing eggs) in the small square outside the front of the hotel is a great way to start your day - often accompanied by singing from a klapa group taking advantage of the acoustics from the vestibule, a grand domed room, open to the sky. It’s always a delight to visit and we will happily return.

It started right from when the tall, thin young man came and met us at the harbor and took our bags all the way to the room. We were lucky enough to have dinner one night And the waiter/manager was an absolute delight. The food was much better than we were expecting. Then to top it all off I forgot my wallet or I should say lost my wallet and the staff was kind enough to go retrieve it from a restaurant where it had been turned in and are in the process of sending it home to me. - Departure43780151565 (10/5): Great hotel in a gorgeous part of Split old town - We recently spent 4 nights at the Villa Dobric. The location in the old town was excellent and although there are many restaurants and bars nearby, at nighttime we didn't hear a thing. The bed was super comfy, room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the air con was a godsend in the very high temperatures. There was a short but pretty walk to the main hotel for breakfast which was very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very small but we didn't spend too long in it as there was so many great places to explore.
- Dingo_dude (10/5): A new favourite in Split - This was simply an amazing luxury boutique hotel. It is located in the heart of Diocletian's Palace and is centrally located to all the major attractions within the old town. It can be difficult to locate (no thanks to Google Maps) if it is your first time in Split. The Diocletian's Palace precinct or the old part of Split is not accessible by vehicles so you will need to walk to the hotel. In hindsight we probably should have contacted the hotel before we arrived and had someone assist with our luggage. They did help us with our luggage when we left. The hotel is located immediately adjacent to the ancient roman vestibule, a circular stone hall, and opposite the Ethnographic Museum. The internal lobby is light and airy with a glass roof - the area also doubles as the hotel's dining area. In there is an outdoor dining area on a cobbled courtyard at the hotel entrance. Each of the eleven rooms are unique as they have had to fit them within the heritage listed Roman and Medieval walls of the buildings. I just loved the historic character of the hotel and how they had managed to fit it out with modern furnishings without compromising the building's heritage. We were lucky in that we had a standard double room on the lower floor so wasn't much of a staircase to climb but I would probably splurge next time and get the junior suite. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was well laid out. We even overlooked the vestibule and could listen to the singers performing there. The staff were extremely helpful, providing us with great recommendations on where to eat, a pre-packed breakfast for when we were heading off on an early morning boat cruise, assisting us with dealing with a parking infringement we incurred earlier in our travels. The service the hotel provided was outstanding.

- Tammy (10/5): Awesome Hotel Within Castle Walls - Wonderful property ideally located inside the castle walls. Room was spotless and very comfortable with an incredible breakfast included each day. Staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed exploring the city from this location as well as used it as a base for a number of day trips. If you plan to have a car, be sure to contact the hotel ahead of time to arrange for parking, since the hotel is in a pedestrian only area. Would definitely recommend this hotel!
