I noticed that some guests did not follow the queue at the reception. While I was waiting in line to check in, a few people came directly from the lift and approached the reception for checkout without acknowledging the queue. After the second instance, I had to point it out myself. I believe it would be helpful if the reception staff could gently guide guests to respect the queue, ensuring a smoother and fair experience for everyone.

• baburoy (10/5): Lovely stay in the hotel - Whenever I am in Kolkata for an annual trip my go-to is IHCL. For the past few years I had been booking Taj (especially Citi Center). This time I wanted a change and so I booked Vivanta. As this was going to be the first time, I was not sure what to expect. For one, I was told this was far from the airport and two, I was travelling with my father, who is 94. The hotel did not disappoint me. From the time I was at the lobby, I was able to smoothly check-in and was allotted the room. I had requested for some items, and everything had been taken care of. For the evening dinner at the hotel, I loved the spread of the buffet. The food was tasty, delicious and great options. Thanks to the hotel we have piled on a lot of weight. The breakfast was equally great. I stayed at the hotel for a week, and I was a bit reluctant to go back home - I would miss the hospitality of the hotel. Hope to come back soon. Thank you. PS I am sorry I am very bad with names, so I cannot thank any individuals. All were great - the front desk, the house keeping people, the staff at Mynt. Thanks to all.

The ambience throughout the hotel is fantastic—sophisticated yet very welcoming. The highlight was the complimentary anniversary cake they surprised us with; it was absolutely delicious and added such a thoughtful touch to our celebration. We also really enjoyed the buffet, which had an impressive variety and top-notch food quality. We found the location extremely convenient which placed us at very reasonable commuting distances to all the places we needed to visit in Kolkata, with excellent connectivity options. The room was well appointed and restocked in a timely manner. The gym is well equipped, clean an hygienic. The restaurant offers a great breakfast selection and other dishes. Overall staff courtesy was great.

Here in the room basic amenities were missing a) such as the shoes polish was missing in the draws b) hair comb was missing c) TV was not smart TV it did not OTT platform log in. d) room ac temperature was not getting set. I am an Epicure Member did not accept such basic room facilities missing. hence would not visit this property.

While the property itself is beautiful and well-maintained, it is the staff that truly makes this hotel shine. I want to give a special mention to Mostaque. His level of service is rare to find; he consistently goes the extra mile to ensure guests are comfortable and well-taken care of. Whether it was anticipating our needs before we even asked or handling requests with a genuine smile, Mostaque’s dedication to hospitality made our stay memorable. I also want to commend Dinesh for his wonderful job. His professionalism and attention to detail did not go unnoticed and contributed significantly to the high standard of service we experienced throughout our visit. If you are looking for a place in Kolkata where you are treated with genuine warmth and top-tier professionalism, this is it. Kudos to the team for such a fantastic job!

Not a good choice at all! - They tried to cheat me, asked to pay more than the price agreed with booking.com Despite I had book the hotel a month ago, I had to go through this situation. The reception/reservation team bothered me upon arrival and after having long discussions, they apologised and blamed booking.com for not fetching correct price details of them. And I was informed that the price confusion was sorted out. However, to my surprise they demanded me to pay more money during check out, saying that their system was showing a different price. Though I informed that I have an early morning flight and this delay at reception may push me to face morning traffic. There was hardly some soft concerns from them and they made me to wait for long time then it usually takes during check out. As a result, I had to rush and run at airport my flight to Bangalore from there I had a connecting flight to my destination.

Wedding happened in ball room in the night, where all of staff were very energetic and very courteous. Alamgir maintained everything very precisely and very honestly took feedback on service with the guests as well. Send day was in roof top and it was very well prganised and supported on minute thigs very proactively so all customs could be followed. Overall had a pleasant stay, room was almost perfect except for the few hair strands on the face towel which could have been supervised while laundry, other wise it was a perfect stay.

• sutapam2026 (2/5): Pathetic Wedding Experience at Vivanta Kolkata - Pathetic Wedding Experience at Vivanta Kolkata EM Bypass If you’re planning a wedding here, please “DON’T” We spent over ₹20+ lakhs hosting our wedding functions for two days and booking almost one-fourth of the hotel rooms for our guests, yet the hotel proved completely incapable of handling a wedding of this scale. First, getting a quotation itself took three months of chasing through endless calls and emails. The initial sales representative Advitha simply did not bother responding. The only reason things moved forward was because Soumita stepped in and actually did her job, something the rest of the team clearly struggles with. Now comes the real nightmare. Despite sharing every single guest detail in advance, the room allotment was an absolute mess. Rooms were not ready, guests were standing around waiting, and the lift operations were chaotic. To make things worse, the reception staff on 24th and 25th February was unbelievably rude. The lady handling room allocations behaved as if guests asking basic questions were a personal inconvenience to her. Eye rolls, rude expressions, and zero hospitality. The most ridiculous part? After paying this amount of money, the bride and groom had to stand at the reception for half a day sorting out guest rooms themselves, missing parts of their own wedding ceremonies. For a property that claims to represent Taj hospitality, this was nothing short of embarrassing. Other glaring failures: • Overpriced rooms with no complimentary suite for the bride and groom. • No attendants to help guests with luggage. • No service rooms for nannies, maids, or drivers accompanying guests. • Parking restrictions for AC sleeper buses, which created unnecessary problems for nearly 200 guests. Then comes the decor disaster. The empaneled vendor Wow Events India delivered décor that looked cheap, tacky, and nowhere close to what was promised. Despite providing a detailed presentation and multiple discussions, the execution looked like something arranged from a local budget wedding vendor. Paying ₹5 lakhs for décor and getting such low-quality materials is simply unacceptable. Vivanta should seriously reconsider associating with vendors of such poor standards. And the licensing circus deserves special mention. Vivanta does not arrange licenses for music, drone shots, or even basic wedding entry music. They simply hand you a list of licenses and expect you to deal with it. Since we live outside West Bengal, coordinating with multiple local offices was a nightmare. In total we had to arrange 6–7 different licenses costing nearly ₹4 lakhs just to have basic music and entries. For a hotel positioning itself as a premium Taj property, this level of inconvenience is laughable. Any decent local banquet in Kolkata would probably manage weddings far better than this place. For transparency, I have also attached screenshots showing the level of effort I personally put into preparing detailed rooming lists and documentation to make the work easier for the Vivanta operations team and their coordinators. Despite such meticulous planning from our side, the execution from the hotel was still completely disorganized. ⸻ The Only Positives • Food was genuinely excellent. The pre-tasting session helped curate the menu perfectly. • The food department was supportive, especially Somnath, who ensured quality. • Soumita from sales was the only professional throughout the process and deserves recognition. After spending such a fortune of amount and facing continuous mismanagement, rude behavior, and operational chaos, this experience was extremely stressful and traumatic during what should have been one of the happiest occasions of our lives. We expect appropriate compensation or a refund from Vivanta Kolkata for this deeply disappointing experience. Additionally, Vivanta should immediately reconsider or break its association with Wow Events India ( Headed by Kaustav and Ground Agent Subrato ), whose execution standards severely damage the reputation of the property.

• shashwatd2026 (6/5): Feedback Following Child Safety Incident During Our Stay - During my recent stay at Vivanta Kolkata EM Bypass, we unfortunately had a small incident involving my child. While I was away for an event, my wife and kid were in the hotel lobby when my child’s finger got stuck in a door. Kids being kids, such accidents can happen anywhere. I must appreciate the hotel staff and security team who were very prompt and helpful. They immediately assisted my wife and arranged for the hotel car to take them to the hospital. The staff handled the situation calmly and professionally, which we truly appreciated. I paid the hospital charges myself, which was absolutely fine. This was actually my second stay at the hotel within a year, and overall we stayed three nights during this visit. However, I was a bit disappointed during checkout. Our Shatabdi train to Bhubaneswar was delayed by around four hours, and I requested a late checkout until 2:30 PM, but the request was denied and was extended till 2pm. We had to checkout and wait at the lobby. Considering the circumstances of the recent incident involving my child and our repeat visit to the property, I had hoped the hotel would extend a small gesture of flexibility or support in this situation. While I appreciate the staff’s assistance during the emergency, the refusal for a short late checkout left us somewhat disappointed.
