Guest Reviews
- Maryanne (8/5): -
- johann (8/5): Great place - central and great staff at reception especially Marcia 😊😊 - Good parking - lifts to Sebel. Vary spacious apartment. Ability to cook a meal and dishwasher and washing machine/dryer were a great addition Unable to access the pool until 8.00 am - like an early morning dip.
- Marcelo (10/5): -
- Donna (5/5): Good location, dated rooms - Location Property is dated and needs some upgrading. Also in our last night there was a car fire in the basement and smoke filled the reception area and no smoke alarms went off. The next morning the reception staff were completely unaware. 2 fire engines, police, ambulance, fire and rescue and no alarm going off. Very concerning.
- norlin (7/5): -
- Jacob (8/5): -
- Margot Hall (3/5): Very disappointed. Won't book Sebel again - The reception staff were helpful and friendly. The location is central, close to restaurants, cafes and beach. We booked this because of the Sebel name, but this is not in anyway up to the Sebel's standard. The queen? room (106B) was musty and smelly, old furniture, cheap curtains and a huge water stain on the very old carpet, near the small bar fridge which had a tiny freezer compartment that was thickly crusted with ice. The bath was chipped, the grouting had black stains in the shower -over bath (which was unsafe) All this and to add insult to injury it was very much overpriced. The lift broke down a couple of times and we had to carry luggage down three flights.
- Fiona (6/5): - Location was fantastic
Extremely comfortable bed Room was very noisy and dark
Pool opens onto restaurant which is open to Main Street
- Penelope (5/5): -
- Neil (8/5): -
- Christine (9/5): -
- Simon (8/5): Great staff, great location, great stay! - Location is excellent, in the heart of Byron Bay, walking distance to the beach and excellent food spots.
The room was very cosy and perfect to come back to a the end of each day. The staff where stand out excellent at all stage throughout may stay. My only criticism is that the room next door was particularly loud on weekend nights, this isn't anyone from the hotels fault and Byron Bay is a young party town.
- Charles (9/5): -
- Melanie (10/5): -
- Natalie (6/5): Central Byron Location - Great location and very friendly staff Small room and bathroom
- Kimberly (1/5): Disappointing - Byron bay is a great place to visit The noise. Parties were allowed until all hours of the morning. Security called an only issue warnings
Nothing was done for the neighbouring rooms - paltry from 9pm to 4am
The noise, language and behaviour of the room next door was unacceptable
- Trent & Nic (8/5): Great location! - Location Bit noisy at times
- daniel (5/5): -
- Andrea (7/5): -
- Michael (5/5): - as per above smiles. Staff were especially lovely. the corridors etc look, to me, grotty. Dark, dank, messy, cleaning stuff all over the place, day and night. No decoration or any sense of making it a welcoming place to be. so different to the lobby.
- Paul (7/5): Nice - Location is excellent. King size bed was unreal. Apartment was spacious. I dunno. It did not seem to meet the standard that I expect from the Sebel. It was satisfactory. But not at the standard that I expected.
- Peter (5/5): Great location but property is tired. - The location is the best feature, central to great restaurants and good shopping all around. An easy walk to the beach. The property is very tired and requires a refurbishment. Amenities are very dated.
- Nina (7/5): Good location and reasonably priced - Location was very good. Wifi was super slow and staff was bot very welcoming. Room was really dark.
- Mitchell (4/5): Poor value for money - Location was excellent. Staff were friendly. Facilities were old and dirty.
Sliding door did not open (but was fixed)
Tap in bathroom was awkward and sprayed water everywhere.
Shower door sounded like it was cracking when you open/close it.
Super expensive for what it was. Definitely not good value for money. Would not stay here again.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Regina (10/5): Its all about the location, cleanliness and vibe. - Location. Clean and easy to get around
- Silvia (10/5): Good location and big room/bathroom - I did a late checking, and they very super helpful over the phone , plus good shower and they give you complimentary snacks
- Tina (9/5): My last-minute stay was made so much easier and comfortable at the Sebel & parking included - Very handy to everything Keys for doors but did like the courtyard in front of door
- Jodie (9/5): - Cute and comfy room with great air con. Staff were super helpful. We had e bikes and they let us store them in reception which was very helpful Nothing, all good
- Donnie (5/5): Good stay, good Staff, Broken Bed, Poor Communications - Location and the Suite we stayed in was really good roomy and had a kitchen. Ground floor and nice. Push together Single bed to make a Kingsize. One of the beds was broken and we got in late on a friday and i should have mentioned something and had us moved, but i tried to work with it. Pretty disappointing really, paying 900 for 2 nights and we couldn't sleep properly. I know its on me, however its obviously been broken for a while.
Also, the property isn't responding to an ask for a small partial refund for a broken bed.
- Sam (7/5): - The location was perfect, very central! Outside the rooms felt very unclean, there were bins near us so it didn’t smell great either. We also found some stains on our sheets.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Steven (8/5): -
- MELINDA (7/5): -
- Shannon (9/5): Perfect apartments walking distance to everything-beach, restaurants, cafes & shops. Dog friendly! - Lovely light, well furnished and comfortable apartment that welcomed our fur baby. Great central location with parking and swimming pool. Very cold pool.
- Wendy (9/5): - Central, roomy and clean
- Joanne (4/5): Disappointed - Staff didn’t greet you , you had to ask for very thing .
Got stuck in basement no phone reception
Was not Sebel standard More professional staff
- Levi (10/5): -
- Mark (5/5): Staff nice they accomodated our problems with a smile and location great - Location was great Shower was broken , we did get another room staff were great but the rooms need a re do the furniture was terrible I couldn’t sit on the wire dinning table and lounges bad
- Leigh (8/5): - Great location It was great
- Mark (9/5): Great family stay - Great location, large and clean 2 bedroom apartment Ensuite would be good. Pool area small but good
- Glen (9/5): Good location, friendly staff, very neat and tidy - Clean, neat, staff were nice, parking included, good location. The day we checked out an air conditioner came on and was really loud.
- Brett (9/5): -
- Krystal (8/5): -
- John (5/5): Good - if not travelling by car. Passable if travelling by car. - The room it self was clean, comfortable and look as if it had been recently renovated. The location was central and close to the beach and restaurants and shops etc. The staff were friendly. However the building was a bit run down and the underground carpark did not feel secure - i asked a person on the front desk if my car would be safe in the carpark - she just shrugged and said the hotel was not responsoble for the carpark. I fully unloaded the car and there was no incident overnight in the end. It also smelt really bad. The odour from the carpark affected the lift for the buildiing.
- Lacy (10/5): -
- Susanne (8/5): -
- Jane (8/5): Great location, good for a short stay - Excellent location in the centre of town and near the beach. Nice room with comfortable bed. Pool was not heated.
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Yue (9/5): -
- Kylie (8/5): Good stay - Room was neat and tidy No view
- Louise (5/5): Good location but not much else - Great central location, only 5 mins from the beach and right in town. Extremely noisy at night even with the windows shut. Our bedroom seemed to be right next to a tree of birds that were squawking all night, plus noise from the nightlife on the street. The latter was expected given the central location, however there were no earplugs at reception either to help with that. The place is a little rundown and items like the aircon, washing machine and furniture were in disrepair.
- Santiago (8/5): -
- Carlo (10/5): -
- Christopher (6/5): In a good location but not good value for money. - Location was good for the beach and restaurants. The room was small with limited space and hanging facilities considering the price we paid.
- La Grutta (7/5): The Sebel was comfortable and close to everything, easy to get in and out after hours - Na Need Better tea and coffee station and no bin in room, water from the shower pooled all over the floor.
- Refshauge (2/5): -
- Kevin (5/5): We had a comfortable stay, close proximity to all shops and beach - Central location, comfortable. Hot water took minutes to flow thru
- Coralie (9/5): - Good location. Close to everything Nothing
- Nigel (8/5): Great location. Nice large rooms. Property needs maintenance but I wouldnt stay elsewhere. - Location great. Room was upgraded to a more spacious apartment as part of the Accor membership package which I recently bought and which I recommend for frequent users of the Accor Hotels Group properties. This was the first benefit I had received under the newly purchased membership so that was cool.
The recent changeover of ownership to Sebel had resulted in the loss of the previous mini-bar, so pleased to see they have reinstated KitKats, a pack of crisps and 2 bottles of water, all at no charge. Perfect size welcome pack, low cost to the property but sizeable impact on guest. I had tried to book the room through the app but it didn't let me get through the initial filter and I found the app very clunky and not at all easy to use.
Live wires with globes are strung over the pool for night-time effect. If an active wire ends up in the pool when people are swimming, the consequences could be very serious, or worse. I don't use the pool much.
The handrail on the steep steps near the swimming pool detached from its 3 fixing points at the time of my recent visit 2 weeks ago, and it was only by good luck that I avoided serious injury. I reported this to reception. When I returned a few hours nothing had been done, and the handrail was hanging off at one end.
- Mahmoud (10/5): -
- Eileen (8/5): 5 day stay at Byron - Very roomy and clean. Good location except for noisy restaurant right under our room. Bed was comfy but pillows were flat and not comfy. Pool didn't have a filter running so was not clean and couldn't use it.
- Benjamin (5/5): Did the job. Nothing special - Location was great Small room, over priced.
- Ross (3/5): If you like cold showers, you will love this place - Free upgrade was nice - but to then the upgraded room was quite loud and had cold showers - so it was not really an upgrade. The showers never got very warm at all. They also took a very long time to even become barely warm - so there was a lot of wasted water.
When I arrived, there was a broken hand rail right next to quite steep and small stairs, and the signage to it was poor. It was only a total collapse that helped me notice the sign, by which point, it was too late.
- Nicole (8/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - very clean room, great showers
- Elaine (10/5): -
- Chris (1/5): -
- Hayley (9/5): -
- Shannon (8/5): Was a fantastic day great for families due to its location - The location It was a bit rundown and maybe not great value for money
- Katherine (7/5): -
- Antonio (6/5): Average - Location Property is old, needs to be refurbished. The aircon in the room was too noisy to be kept on .
- Kathleen (7/5): Sebel Byron In desperate need of renovation and redecorating. - Location. Walk to everything. Close to restaurants. Polite helpful staff. Clean linen and towels. The building is in absolute disrepair. Everything is so tired and shabby. Needs a complete renovation. Totally over priced for that standard of accommodation. We recently stayed at Oaks Santai Casuarina and also Peppers Kingscliff. They can't compare. They were 10 times better and a lot cheaper. We feel totally ripped off.
- Loco Review (8/5): Very comfortable and within walking distance to beaches and restaurants. - Room was very spacious for a delux, while the bed was very comfortable. The property itself is very close to everything in town.
- Stan (6/5): Stay was fine -location excellent however property looks tired and in need of an upgrade - Location /spacious/cleanliness Building is very old -needs some upkeep /no ability to order a drink at pool
- Joanne (9/5): -
- Nicole (7/5): - Starker Geruch im Parkhaus und teilweise Essensgeruch auf den Gängen.
- Chris (10/5): Perfect - Best bed I have ever slept in. -
- Rosa TRIGG (8/5): Great Location, great place to stay as close to everything in centre - Great location, walking distance to all shops, cafes and restaurant, car is not needed here. Great to park also in the parking station for free, great benefit as all street parking cost money in Byron. N/A
- Castle (10/5): - Great Location, close to Bars, Coffee shop & not far from Beach.
Staff very friendly, helpful & happy 😊
- Ashley (8/5): - The only issue I really had while staying there was that there was a smell in the elevator and in the parking structure that smelt like sewage. Now I'm a nurse and I deal with some really intense smells and it was really hard to stomach going into that parking structure and in the elevator the days I was there. I'm not sure if that's a typical thing or if they're experiencing some plumbing issues, but I think it should be mentioned in the off chance that that smell is something that will be there when you're there, at least you can be prepared. It wouldn't keep me from going back.
- Amy (5/5): Good location, honestly just think we got given the worst room. - Very good location, easy to walk pretty much anywhere you want to. The bed was comfortable, which is always a bonus. That’s about it. The photos displayed on the booking did not match photos of the actual room we stayed in. The room itself was tucked in the middle of the complex and was confusing to find at first. We stayed in 5b which was actually located behind a keyed door labeled 5 (this would have been helpful to know at check in). It was also very heavy and had to be held open while you unlocked the other door to the actual room. The curtains were falling off the rails, the carpet was lifting in certain areas, and it was honestly a very dark room. The shower leaked a good amount after every shower and would only get to a lukewarm temperature no matter how long we had it running. The bathtub had obviously had a previous leak as tiles were removed from the base and the wall separating it from the bedroom and the surrounding carpet had obvious water damage (I forgot to take a picture of this). I think there should have been better clarification as to what the room was like, as I feel the price was not justified for what we got, considering the other photos that are listed when booking.
- Jennifer (10/5): Location, location location 🤗 - Close to the centre of town and great restaurants
- Yulia (7/5): Too expensive for the level of comfort. The main advantage is location. - Great location, exactly where we needed. For the 5-star hotel price tag, the room was very average - very small fridge (which was also smelly), very limited cooking gear and crockery. Noisy building - waking up with doors slamming in the early morning. We didn't have a good sleep during 9 nights that we stayed.
- MIKE (10/5): Great location in the centre of Byron Bay. Clean, roomy and comfortable. - Reception staff friendly and helpful. Location was perfect, right in the centre of Byron Bay town. Unit was much bigger than expected, clean and very comfortable.
- Kristen (3/5): Would not recommend - nothing like the usual Sebel hotels. - Only clear plus about this property is the location. Bang smack in the middle of town. The advertisement of the facility is misleading and doesn’t show how worn down this hotel is. I have stayed at other Sebel’s previously with a much higher all round standard so expected the same. The property is very budget and needs a thorough going over. We had the Queen Superior - nothing superior about it. Tiles missing from the bathroom. It’s pretty basic and not value for money paid at all. The tropical rains came when we were there and the flooding in the basement carpark created stench from wastewater overflowing in the basement coming up through the elevators was overwhelming. The staff are clearly overworked and take a lot of flack - they try their best to be nice but clearly need better investment from their owners to make their life easier. Definitely won’t be returning.
- Josie (8/5): Staff were friendly and checked us in early so we could attend our function on time. Very grateful and will be back agai - Central to Byron centre and our 2 favourite restaurants
Bang Bang and Harry Hutong
- Joe (5/5): Love Byron Bay but disappointed with our apartment - Location was great Room 4a was ground floor apartment. Very dark and steps uk and down in the apartment
- Andrew (5/5): loved it! - The after-hours entrance & not having soft close toilet lids was disappointing for the brand hotel!
- Chiha (8/5): over all it was Good - Great location walking distance to everything.
- James (7/5): Great location but needs a bit of TLC, otherwise great - Its a nice hotel right in the center of Byron Bay, its the ideal location. The room itself was spacious and had everything we needed. It certainly gives value for money in this prime location and parking is a breeze Having stayed at the Sebel Quay West in Sydney this hotel was a little underwhelming. As others have said it is clean but it does need a bit of TLC particularly the outside areas and corridors which are drab and scruffy
- Carlo (10/5): Top plek!!
- Jenni (9/5): Location, cleanliness and room size great, which Mae good value for money. - Location, size of room and lovely staff The noice level however it is in the centre of Byron
- Will (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Nice place, enjoyed stay, staff super friendly.
- Francis (6/5): Practical - Location, staff and parking Boring rooms, set with a "brown" theme !
Badly needs bring up to current colours etc !!
- Kerstin (7/5): Tolle Lage, schönes Zimmer - Toll gelegen, Parkplatz in der Tiefgarage Könnte etwas sauberer sein. Badlüfter etwas laut.
- Cassia (4/5): For $600 per night we were disappointed. Overall a 3/10 - It was central in location Had trouble with the door key and there was no 24 hour reception, for the first night the TV failed to work/switch on/off. The stainless steel fridge was all rusty. It smelt like dog, I’m allergic so was unwell my whole stay.
- Clare (8/5): Excellent location, great size rooms. Friendly staff - Great location, fabulous staff and room size. Carparking available was amazing.
I would definitely stay here again. Just give the place some love. Needs painting
Two great restaurants in the same building The room was tired. A coat of paint, matching crockery, new carpet would make this amazing.
Clean the waste in the pool.
- Geoff (10/5): Great one night stay in centre of Byron. - Great location. Comfortable beds Nothing
