Such a relaxing stay stepping from room to pool which was always crystal clear. Great buffet breakfast options, used room service a couple of times and food was good. Pina colada's at the swim up bar were delicious!! Great location right on the main village street. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is lovely, very modern, very clean and in a great location. The pool is amazing. We had a very enjoyable 4 nights stay here at the start of our trip. We wish it had been longer and will definitely return.
- Bycroft (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - From the moment we arrivd to the moment we left we had a totally fantastic 14 day break. Everything was superb, from the rooms to the staff. Breakfast was always very good with plenty of choice for all nationalities including fresh egg station, pork sausages (as well as others) and bacon. Lots of staff around in restaurant should you require assistance . The pools were cleaned daily and the rooms were extremely comfortable and maid service was superb in keeping everything nice. Everyone is so friendly in the hotel, bars, restaurants & supermarkets. In fact we used a little family run supermarket just to the right of the hotel main. The hotel is not positioned on the beachfront but some 400 metres or so towards the town, which suited us. If you walk out of main hotel entrance and turn right you are immediately amongst shops, bars & many restaurantsand 5 minutes walk from the market. We cannot recommend this hotel enough, in fact, we have already booked for next year.

- I4342DWjulieh (8/5): 3 weeks of bliss. - The Waters is a very well run hotel, staff always helpful, efficient & friendly, We were allocated in room 1631 behind the massage section, but didn’t get any sun after midday so asked to be moved, this was done with no problem. Rooms are larger than normal and the bathroom is huge. Fridge, kettle and pool towels available. Bath robes & flip flops in room. Swim up room is fantastic, perfect to cool off in. Felt sorry for those above having to walk downstairs to enter pool. lol Breakfast was plentiful, lots to choose from and fill up on for the morning. Tasty breads, egg & bacon station, fruits and lots more. Room service meals were delivered quickly & were good. Umbrellas in room for those occasion heavy showers. Shops very close by, 7eleven supermarket good to stock up with drinks & snacks. Recommend the hot toasties for lunch. Also if only wanting a sandwich Juice from Mars made great food, including full English, pie & chips & roast dinners in case you miss a bit of English food. Restaurants are plentiful & all excellent also very good prices. If you order something you don’t like you’ve not wasted a huge amount. All in all this was one of the best holidays we have had due to the different experiences and culture. We will definitely be going back to the Waters next year. Although the hotel on the whole is clean, I do think a deep clean is needed in some parts.

Breakfast good, plenty of options and of course the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding. Would definitely return.
- stibiljs (10/5): Excellent place to stay with amazing staff, especially JJ. - This is our second stay at The Waters and it definitely won’t be our last. We stayed in a Pool Access room this time, which was required as I am recovering from a broken leg which impacts my ability to climb stairs. We stayed in one of the newer rooms, which are amazing, however, are quite some distance from reception and Amici (restaurant and breakfast venue). This was never a problem, though, as the hotel has golf carts that can pick you up at any time. A special mention to JJ, who was often the one to pick us up or drive us back to the room. What an absolute credit to the hotel. In saying that, all staff are so attentive and pleasant. The location of the hotel is fantastic. Close to many restaurants, spas, shops and bars. Our favourites are Tuk Tik (lunch/dinner), Be Bob Bar, and of course, Amici. Can’t wait to return again when I am fully recovered and can experience a few more delights of Khao Lak.
- 0traceya (8/5): Last stop after a 3 week tour of Thailand - Our stay at The Waters Khao Lak was an enjoyable experience with some genuine highlights, though there are a few things worth knowing before you book. The rooms themselves are lovely and were kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping team every single day — a real credit to the resort. The staff throughout were consistently attentive and friendly, always greeting you with a warm smile, and this was undoubtedly one of the best parts of our stay. The resort is clearly popular, which speaks to its appeal, though this does mean the main pool “Bubble” gets busy and sunbeds tend to fill up early, so arriving before breakfast gives you the best chance of securing a spot. Similarly, breakfast was a lively affair with a fantastic spread and plenty of choice to keep everyone happy, even if the bustling atmosphere means it’s worth heading down with a little patience. One practical tip for light sleepers — we’d recommend bringing earplugs, as the external air conditioning units on the outside wall of the rooms can be noticeable at night. The restaurant’s position near the main road means it’s not the most tranquil setting, though the quality and variety of the food more than make up for it. The staff warmth and exceptional cleanliness are real strengths here, and guests who enjoy a lively, sociable resort atmosphere will likely have a wonderful time. For us personally, we prefer something a little quieter and more intimate, so while we had a pleasant stay, it may not be our first choice to return to. This keeps all your points but frames them as helpful tips rather than criticisms, and softens the ending so it reflects your preference rather than a firm rejection.
- jarmohannle (10/5): The most lovely staff - The Waters is a hotel with super nice big pools, rooms and the staff is the best ever! Pool access rooms are clean and very comfortably, housekeeping every day. Only short walk to the beach, but instead the hotel i s near all other services as restaurants, shops and the evening market. And if you wishes to visit some beaches as Memory-, Coconut- och Whitesand beahes, you can book the cheap tuk-tuk from the reseption and it takes only about 15 minutes to this beaches.
- barneyoz (10/5): Superb adult focused resort close to everything you could need - Lovely adult focused hotel right in the heart of the action, step outside the gates to a multitude of restaurants and bars, very close to night market and only a short walk to the beach. Swim up rooms are a delight as is the plentiful breakfast. Drinks are reasonably priced. I travelled here with my elderly father (86), we had a room each in the wing behind the massage area, the location within the resort was perfect for my father as it was within an easy walk to bars, restaurant and the gates to the resort. We had a rooms with shade all day on the balcony and found this to be a blessing given the heat. Sai at the pool bar was a delight, extremely professional and a credit to the resort. We loved it so much that we will return again in 4 weeks time for 10 nights - can’t wait. Having no children and a previous stay at The Little Shore with my wife, I found this property comparable but in an easier location.

- shirleyb791 (6/5): Great choice, but let down by the room .... - This was our first time in Khao Lak. We chose The Waters as it seemed to be more adult orientated, and it's central location. Pros: The staff - every member of staff we came across were friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to Joe, predominantly at the Bubbles Bar, but also present at breakfast too. He had a very pro-active attitude, nothing was a problem, only solutions 😊 Good choice at breakfast, and a great egg station. Always a choice of Western and Thai options. We had room service when we arrived as it was late and we were tired. The service/food were excellent. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, but we did enjoy a few cocktails during happy hour, which were excellent. Pool areas were clean, and well maintained. Never any problems with sunbeds. Cons: The reason for 3 stars, was our room. We had a ground floor pool access room. The space was adequate and housekeeping kept it spotless. However, it was extremely tired and worn out. It's obvious, that the rooms had once been amazing, but definitely now in desperate need of a major upgrade - chipped flooring, rusty mirrors, chipped furniture, just generally very tired and 'tatty looking'. This is a shame, because we loved everything else about the resort.

Lots of nice restaurants literally on the doorstep. TV in the room wasn’t digital and despite retuning the TV all channels were very grainy and really unwatchable. I only stayed for a few days so I never complained or questioned. However all the 3 other resorts I stayed in ( I am still in Thailand) had digital TV!! Come on Waters ….. sort it out 🙌😉
- Inspire797884 (10/5): love it! - love this hotel and location. we are in a direct access pool room which is absolutely idyllic. the hotel is well spread out around several pools and is walking distance to the beach, many restaurants and the night market. All the staff are friendly and so helpful especially the tour desk lady. we are due to leave in a couple of days to continue our holiday in Phuket. I did make enquiries about changing our itinerary and staying here but unfortunately the hotel is sold out for next week. its a shame but just means we will have to come back another time.

- darrenj902 (8/5): Fantastic stay at The Waters! - We have had a fantastic week here at The Waters. We were pleased we paid the premium for a swim up ground floor room. Our communal Swimming pool was 50metres long! Room 1331 was perfect as we had the sun all day whereas some of the other room balcony’s opposite seemed to be in the shade for longer. The rooms were large with a huge 8ft wide bed. I found the bed firm even with a topper on so requested a second one which arrived quickly and made it perfect. Air conditioned rooms worked very well and most welcoming after a sun bathing session. Rooms were cleaned daily and bottles of water replaced if needed. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. One of the reception staff made a phone reservation for a recommended beach front restaurant for me. Great service. Considering the hotel is located in the heart of the vibrant town of Bang Niang it had such a calm serene feel about it which was lovely. Didn’t really use the beach but it was only a couple of minutes away if you wanted to see the sunset. All the fabulous restaurants were a short walk away serving up a wide variety of menus. So reasonably priced! Could have a full blown meal with cocktails for £20/£25 per couple! My only issue with the hotel is the canteen culture of breakfast time which has been mentioned by others. At peak times you had to wait a long time for a hot drink and queue for the buffet food. Something I didn’t experience at the previous hotel. Quality of the breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. Didn’t find it a pleasurable relaxing experience even when we left it much later to eat. Drops a star for this but I would still return because everything else was first class.
- Bearchell (10/5): Great stay at The Waters Hotel Khao Lak - As my wife and I near the end of our 3 weeks stay at The Waters in Khao Lak, we look back on another fantastic stay. This is our third visit in three years and we are planning to return next year to escape the British Winter. The staff here are wonderful, under the leadership of the resort manager ‘Chita’ and the Reception Manager Fon. We book an upper pool room, which is very spacious and has a massive bed. I particularly like the large balcony that easily fits two sun loungers and gives private access down to the pool, of which there are several at the resort. Whilst I highly recommend this hotel, I feel if you have older children, their sister hotel The Sands, is a better fit as it has far more family focused utilities. The Sands Hotel also has a beach front that the Waters lacks. However, that is made up for by being in the centre of many excellent restaurants and bars. Worth a visit if you are coming to Khao Lak!

It’s a great newer hotel with spacious, well-designed rooms and excellent facilities throughout. If you’re booking, we would absolutely recommend choosing a poolside or swim-up room. Having sun loungers and day beds on the balcony was a real highlight and made it feel extra special – perfect for relaxing during the day and early evenings. Breakfast was very, very good and offered everything you could need, with a generous mix of Thai and Western buffet options. Plenty of choice, good quality, and something for everyone. This isn’t a quirky, traditional Thai-style hotel, but if you’re looking for a polished, modern 4–5 star style hotel with great amenities, professional service and attentive staff, this place really delivers. Everything felt well run and comfortable from start to finish. The atmosphere was relaxed and international, with most guests being German and Brits , which suited us just fine. The staff and service were excellent throughout our stay. Overall, a fantastic hotel in Khao Lak – comfortable, modern and great value for the quality offered. We would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others.

Wauw factor you can walk straight out from your room to the pool, and due to the placement you have Sun/Shake on your balcony/terace. In the pool there is water fum liked bubbles and spray from a brigde crossing the pool, theese a quite loud during the day. There are swimUp bars very nice. Its a large hotel, we where placed in a room far away from the reception so long distance to walk, But the hotel offer shuttle service everytime we need to ex visit the breakfast or need to go to the entrance to a walk in the city. 5 star service! The breakfast restaurant is not good! In night time a italian restaurant and in the morning a breakfast restaurant where 100-200 people meet. The food is low quality and pale. Ex. We had eegs 2 day and every day theese where undercoked Or boiled for 20 minutes, blue inside. All food are placed und sticky and dirty plastic lids. In the ceeling fans on high levels and the tables outside are placed next to the many noicy cars. The waters here you need to step up. There a no context with the waters hotel! It is two complete different places. No cocyness.
- fionualaa (4/5): Persistent sewage smell and disappointing stay - We stayed at The Waters Khao Lak as part of a three-week Thailand trip and were very disappointed. The main issue throughout our four-night stay was a persistent sewage smell, both inside and outside our room. This wasn’t occasional — it was constant and genuinely unpleasant. We raised this with the hotel and were shown another room, but the smell was the same. We were told another room might be available the following day and that air freshener would be brought, but this never happened. By that point we had unpacked and I was unwell with a cold, so moving again felt impractical. We fully accept that in a tropical environment the occasional insect is unavoidable. However, we experienced a level that went beyond this, including a cockroach in the shower and a significant ant problem in the room, which suggested inadequate initial cleaning. The room was reportedly sprayed, after which the issue improved, but this added to the overall sense that standards were not where they should have been. What was most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgement or goodwill for the impact this had on our stay. No gesture was offered despite the ongoing issues. The hotel itself feels dated for the price, and breakfast was busy and noisy, more like a cafeteria than a relaxing start to the day. We chose not to eat there again despite having paid for bed and breakfast. Having since seen other recent reviews mentioning similar sewage problems, this does not appear to be an isolated issue. While Thailand is wonderful and other hotels on our trip were excellent, The Waters was a clear low point. We wouldn’t return or recommend it.
- AndrewT577 (2/5): AVOID - Unless you enjoy holding your nose! - I really wanted to like this hotel with its swim up pool rooms. We’d paid a premium for such a room but ended up being very disappointed. The smell - we arrived late in the evening to the hotel and were shown to our room. After settling in we noticed an unpleasant smell, like drains but were too tired to do anything about it. In the night we discovered a cockroach in the bathroom and ants in the entrance area. The next morning we reported all this to reception and they promised to have the room thoroughly cleaned (but no sorry). We were out for an all day tour and returned that evening to find the apartment clean and the ants and cockroaches gone but the smell of drains remained strongly in the room. Returned to reception and after conferring for a while agreed to offer us an alternative room. We were taken to inspect the new potential room but on arrival it smelt just as bad as our original room. The staff member showing us the room claimed he could smell nothing and shrugged as if it say “it’s you!” Back to reception again but they explained there was nothing else we could do as they had no other rooms to offer us. So instead of spending lots of time in our room with a lovely swim up pool for which we had paid a premium, we ended up actively avoiding our room apart from sleeping to avoid the smell. The staff - throughout the experience above I got the distinct impression the staff didn’t really care. Not once did they apologise for the smell and even seemed to suggest it was us being too fussy. We had to suffer it and weren’t offered any compensatory gestures. Not a free drink, meal or massage. Just a shrug. I am not after free stuff but something to acknowledge the issue would have been a start. The restaurant - despite having breakfast included we only took breakfast once. It was busy and noisy like a school canteen and the food was nowhere near the quality experienced in other hotels on our tour. Maybe we were spoilt by hotels showing us to a table and brining us a coffee, as opposed to find your own table and get your own coffee but for us this was a once off visit and no chance of trying it for dinner. Overall the hotel infrastructure of the rooms, the swim up rooms etc has great potential. But it was let down by lack of staff care and that awful smell. I can’t recommend staying here unless you enjoy the smell of drains in your room. Very disappointing.
- Dorsetgirl29 (8/5): Greet pools and good location - Breakfast was quite limited, especially the fruit juices. Other hotels we’ve stayed at in Khao Lak offered fresh juices and fruit smoothies, which were noticeably missing here. Simple touches like a teapot and milk jug at breakfast would also have been appreciated. The information in the room was very limited. There were spa prices and bar/restaurant times, plus five pages on environmental policy, but nothing helpful about how to get to the beach, TV channels, or how the air conditioning works or even check out times. The TV wasn’t worth turning on. We travel a lot and can normally log into Netflix, which is especially nice for kids to relax after pool time or day trips, but that wasn’t possible here. Christmas felt rushed and underwhelming. On Christmas Day itself, staff were already taking down decorations, including the Christmas tree and Santa. Overall, it could have had much more of a festive feel. In the evenings, there was nowhere comfortable to sit, have a drink, and play cards. There’s also no ice machine, and ice is charged for, which felt unnecessary at this level of hotel. The rooms are really designed for two adults, not families. We stayed with our 13-year-old and there wasn’t enough storage, only two sunbeds on the balcony, and not enough space for three people. On some days we only for two towels which was annoying especially when paying for a child is the same rate as an adult New Year preparations significantly impacted the stay. Sunbeds started being removed from 29th December for three days of setup for a single evening. New Year’s Eve day was particularly bad, no sunbeds available at all, with people lying on the grass and sitting in walkways because the pool and grass areas were taken over by the gala dinner setup and stage. On New Year’s Day, pool bars closed at 3pm, and staffing was reduced. Not everyone staying was attending the gala dinner, yet it felt like the whole hotel revolved around it. For a hotel that prides itself on its pool area, it really didn’t match the relaxed holiday vibe advertised. We paid extra for a top-floor pool access room, which turned out to be a waste of money. The balcony was shaded all day, at the very back of the hotel, and extremely quiet. We only used the pool access once. If booking a pool access room, I’d strongly recommend emailing ahead to request a specific location. Overall, the hotel is lovely with great pools and has potential, but the lack of atmosphere, family-friendly planning, and the disruption over Christmas and New Year really took away from the experience.

We were in the bay wing but were lucky to have rooms 102 and 103 that are on the ground floor with the pool just outside your patio. These are easily the best rooms in that wing. The staff were amazing and courteous All restaurants and bars right outside the hotel and a short 300m stroll to the beach. You won’t be disappointed ❤️

The grounds are lovely , main pool with swim up bar , there is no loud music and no entertainment in the evenings since bars , clubs and restaurants are found a few minutes walk from hotel . The staff are helpful and friendly . Amici Restaurant is Italian and the only one in the hotel but meals are much cheaper outside and just as good . The Beach is a few minutes walk away , but there are no sun beds for hire here ( policy) but there is a restaurant overlooking the sea ( cheap as well ) If you want to sun bath go to White Sands Beach but be aware the trees shade the sun until mid day or go to Coconut beach which has sunbeds / restaurants etc Travel to beach mentioned is 15 mins by taxi costing 350 Thai Bhat one way ( £1 = 40 Thai Baht in Dec 2025 )
- josiebN3939FS (10/5): Holiday stay at the Waters Khao Lak - This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in anywhere in Asia we were in downstairs swim up room 1751 .. this room had a very good lay out with easy excess to the pool , the splash bar was awesome and the staff very helpful especially Mail who was very knowledgeable and friendly she explained everything we asked of her very well and sure is a asset to the company. ( keep up the good work Mail ) .. it was a pleasure to stay here and I would recommend it one and all … best hotel by far in the area … I will be coming back to stay again for sure …
- NorthStar181386 (10/5): Excellent stay at a wonderful resort - The Waters - We stayed here for 12 days in room 1751 this room was spacious and comfortable with pool excess at our door , the staff were very helpful respectful and friendly they are a credit to the hotel , I especially would like to thank the staff at the splash bar who looked after me and my wife when ever we ordered food and drinks from them , Mail was excellent and very knowledgeable when mixing drinks for us also advising us on our food choices she was a pleasure to deal with and is a true asset to the company .. thank you the staff has made our stay more pleasant … we have truely been looked after very well and would recommend a stay here at this resort to anybody looking for a well run relaxed atmosphere … it would be hard to find a better place to stay and only 5 mins from everything you could need
- KP2978 (10/5): Perfect location, great amenities, lovely stat - The location of The Waters is near-perfect, particularly if it's your first trip to Khao Lak and you want easy access to beach, markets, bars and restaurants. The resort, as the name suggests, is themed around water and you have access to gorgeous swimming pools across the resort. In fact, the pools are so nice that you don't even feel the need to leave the resort. We spent a fair bit of time lazing around the pool. We had the upper pool access rooms and could directly walk down to the pools. The rooms are well laid out with a large deck that you can laze on, a large comfortable bed. The team at the resort is also very quick to address any issues or concerns. We had some issue with the lack of cooling in our room one afternoon and the service team got it fixed immediately. They also responded swiftly when we managed to lock ourselves out of our room. The housekeeping team does an efficient job and they were happy to clean the room around our schedule. There're plenty of deck chairs across all pools so getting a deck chair wasn't a problem. We particularly loved the jacuzzis across the pools where you could literally be getting a full body massage in the pool. The pools are easily the highlight of this resort and we found ourselves spending time inside the resort rather than at the beach, which is a few minutes walk from there. Additionally, if you'd like to explore the surroundings, everything is within a periphery of not more than 10-15 mins. Beach - the Bang Niang beach is less than 5 mins walk Bars and restaurants - plenty of options, ranging from local Thai food options, western fare and some Italian restaurants. We tried a bunch restaurants like Siam, Tiewson, Green Pepper, Tom Yung Goong and bars like Lan La, Mr. Chats, Fat Shark, Banana bar etc Bang Niang market - 10 min walk to a nice market that comes to life in the evening, with a great vibe, food and drink options and good for souvenir shopping Massages - plenty of local massage options within a mins walk. Also, for planning any days trips and excursions, there are plenty of travel agents and tour operators that you can access around the main street. The only things I'd like to call out as areas of improvement would be breakfast. While there's a variety of options, the food could be better. Also, in case you're someone who likes to watch tv in the hotel, i found the options lacking international and English content. But these are minor aspects in the face of overwhelming positives. Khao Lak is quite laid back and quiet, unlike parts of Phuket. If you're not fussed about being on a beachfront property and want options and walking access to most things, this resort ticks all the boxes. This was our first trip to Khao Lak and our stay at The Waters played a large part in ensuring it was a great one. If our travels find us coming back to Khao Lak in the future, we'd look forward to staying there again.
- 938lesleyd (10/5): Pool access room in the sun - The Waters hotel is tucked away behind the main streets of Bang Niang. We were quite late arriving but the restaurant was still open or we could have room service if we wanted to. We had a lovely friendly greeting at check in and everything was done really quickly. We were taken to our room on a buggy. It seemed like a very long way from reception. There are shortcuts when walking. The room was a ground floor pool access room and it was really good! A lovely big bathroom and a spacious bedroom. There was a kettle with tea and coffee and a full sized iron and ironing board. We were very lucky as our room had the sun all day. A lot of the pool access rooms appeared to be in the shade all day. If you're planning on staying at the Waters in a pool access room request a room in the sun (if you want to). We were right next to the Splash bar so very easy to get drinks. You can also eat there at lunchtime if you want to. The bars close early at the hotel. The Splash bar closed at 5pm and the Bubble bar closed at 8pm. There's a bar just outside the hotel if you want drinks in the evening. The hotel is very spread out with a fair bit of walking if you're in the rooms right at the end of the resort. You can request a buggy if mobility is a problem. The pools are lovely. I'm so pleased that we had a pool access room but there were plenty of sunbeds dotted around the hotel if you want to go to a different pool. We didn't do very much while we were there as I'd recently had hip surgery. We walked to the beach which is 5 minutes from the hotel. It's lovely but there are no sunbeds and it's quite sloped. The hotel will get a taxi to Cocunut beach which has sunbeds and bars. We went to a local temple. The hotel arranged a taxi for us and he took us to the temple and waited in the car park until we wanted to leave. The temple was definitely something to see. The area is buzzing. There are lots of great restaurants. The food is very nice and not too expensive. There's a 7/11 shop just across the road that has everything you need. There are mosquitos especially at night. The 7/11 sells a very good insect repellent which actually works. We were half board. We could have either breakfast and lunch or breakfast and dinner. We had lunch as we wanted to eat out at night. We loved this hotel and this area. The Thai people are so lovely. Always smiling and so polite. The hotel was everything we wanted it to be and more. We'll definitely be back.
- R8724PYmariaf (8/5): Great stay - We had a really good stay at this hotel. The pool was definitely the highlight – it’s large, and we never had to fight for sunbeds. Even when we arrived around 11:30, there were still plenty of spots available. The whole pool area felt peaceful and spacious. The food was decent, and the service was fine as well, though the staff didn’t always understand English as well as you might hope. The fitness area is small but has all the basics you need for a quick workout. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to book a room with a private pool – we didn’t, and we definitely regretted it. The atmosphere at the hotel is calm, with no loud guests or noisy groups, which made it perfect for relaxing. There’s also a lot to see and do around Khao Lak, so we’ll definitely be coming back to this hotel in the future.
- 206Staceyw (10/5): Perfect, Peaceful Stay – Highly Recommend the Swim-Up Rooms - We stayed at khao lake the waters for a week in one of the swim-up rooms, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Our room was spotless, very modern, and cleaned to a high standard every day. The staff were amazing – so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, which made the hotel feel peaceful and relaxing throughout our stay. The location is great too: close to shops, bars, restaurants, and only a short distance from Bang Niang Market. The swim-up pool and pool bar were a real highlight, perfect for relaxing with a drink at any time of day. Breakfast was included in our stay and there was plenty of choice, with something for everyone. During our time here we also did several trips, including elephant bathing and the James Bond Island tour with a visit to the floating village – both unforgettable experiences. We loved our stay and would highly recommend this hotel. We can’t wait to come back again!
- bubbles1612 (10/5): Love it - Just returned from two weeks here and we loved it. This was our 5th visit to Khao Lak and although all the hotels have been great I think this was our favourite. Friendling staff at check-in which was super quick. We were taken to our room in a buggy as we were in the new waters wing at the back of the resort. Our room was spotless, plenty of room with the biggest most comfortable bed ever. I have some mobility issues but getting into the pool via the steps was so easy, with loungers on the patio, as well as a large padded cuddle bed/chair. We chose this hotel primarily because of its location, as it so close to the bars, restaurants and the market. We are more pool people than beach so the huge pools were amazing. On an afternoon during happy hour the staff would com round in canoe to take cocktail orders. Thought this was a great idea. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of options and we hand room service several times during out stay on a lunchtime. Reasonable priced with with a fair choice. The only small fault, and it wasn't a huge issue, is the lack of clothes space for long dresses and the hanging space is short. I just hung them in the bathroom. Like i said its the only thing i could fault. We have already booked to return in 2026.

Room was very nice and spacious, and a nice bathroom. Value for money was spot on. The swimming pool, and a taxi service to the beaches, and restaurants on the doorstep. I found a gem.

The resort location is perfect....close to the beach, restaurants and local shops whilst still being very relaxing and quiet. The rooms are on the smaller side (pool access) but adequate. A downside was no Netflix access (unfortunately it rained the entire time I was there) and a standard seating chair in the rooms or balcony would be an addition. The breakfast was fantastic, pool bar provided a great chill vibe. The staff were absolutely fantastic....and asset to this beautiful resort 🙂 I will be back....

Great room, friendly staff & all round great place to relax. Plenty of space around the pools, (no getting up early to reserve sunbeds here !!! ) Breakfast plentiful & we never found it too busy on any day. Great location for getting out & about to the local restaurants,etc & the beach easy walking distance too. Will definitely be back again sometime !

This place has so many pools you can choose a different one each day plus there are rooms to book with your own private pool access also. There are so many restaurants to visit and the beach is super close easy walk and you can eat at restaurants on the beach also. - azzvr (10/5): Great hotel! Would recommend - The location of the hotel was great. Super close to the markets and nearby stalls and restaurants. The atmosphere of the hotel was perfect. All the staff were super lovely and the general vibe of the hotel was great. Our room was large and very nice and clean. Not an issue at all and worth the value. The breakfast was delicious. We required a halal menu and we had food cooked fresh for us daily to assist us for the same. The best part of the room was our direct access to the large swimming pools. It was so lovely to be able to go straight from your room into a big hotel.
- clairepI1794HR (6/5): Too noisy to be relaxing - Good location next to town and the market, about 400m walk to the beach. Staff very friends and helpful. It's a little bit dated and shabby on the the rooms are clean and well equipped. Good little gym. Swimming pools nice. Noise levels terrible from the bar on the street- this was the biggest downside - and worth considering avoiding if you want to be asleep before midnight. Given this is repeatedly mentioned in reviews over several years but nothing done to sound proof the rooms, tells you a little about Katathani's attitude to customer satisfaction. If I came to khao lak again I would choose the Sands down the road - quieter, beachfront, better breakfast, most responsive to emails.

Mould in shower and on pool lounges & outdoor cushions & the toilet seat didn’t fit on toilet properly The smaller bar near the pool access rooms was very quiet Had no music/no vibe and was quiet most of the time Breakfast was unfortunately not good Very limited mainly western foods The last day we had breakfast the eggs were stone cold Best thing about the hotel were the staff who were all completely lovely and the delicious margaritas - $6 AUD during happy hour

- 4garyn (8/5): FIRST STAY - Great resort near shopping markets and food. On arriving Front desk staff were very helpful our room was ready when we arrived. Our room was spacious and beautiful. Just a few negatives breakfast didn't have a great variety. Bubble bar staff not real welcoming and seem to be stressed when busy and confused. I only used my complementary coupons there after that and didn't like to go there. Had to get my sheet changed on my bed first day as it wasn't clean.

- bnicholson71 (10/5): Khao lak - Absolutely beautiful hotel. On arrival greeted by very friendly staff at reception. Shown to our room which was an upper access room. Lovely clean room will plenty of room. We saw a couple we met at the airport and suggested we see if we could upgrade our room to pool access from your room. We managed to do this for £11 per night. Best thing ever, literally 10 steps from your patio doors. Food in the bubbles bar was reasonably priced too. Clean pool towels left in your room every day. Only a 10 minute stroll to the restaurants and bars, most did close around 10pm as stilllow season but we were happy with this. We have already looked at booking to go here again

Staff at breakfast remembered my omelette order). The facilities are well maintained and pleasant (eg. The pool to our pool access room was always sparkly clean even after a whole night of wind and rain) Aspects that could be improved - some core amenities are not provided/available (eg. Hair Conditioner, Indoor slippers separate to pool thongs) The location of the hotel whilst not beach front is very close to the beach and is also in good proximity to a comprehensive dining and shopping strip.

We had a pool access room which was fantastic, with to sun lounges Good breakfast with lots of choices. Lovely staff. The location is right in the middle of town. Lots of bars and restaurants directly outside. But no noise at all in the hotel. Feels like you are miles away. Definitely will go back.
- molly0411 (10/5): Fabulous resort - We loved everything about this resort. The pool access rooms are very modern and exceptionally clean with comfortable beds and crisp linens. The Waters Khao Lak have impeccably well maintained pools and gardens and the location is so convenient, only a 5 minute walk to local restaurants, shopping, and the market. The breakfast choices are plentiful and of good quality, as is the food in the hotel’s restaurant and main poolside bar. Special mention to Resort Manager Chita, who met us at the resort entrance after a long journey to discuss our booking needs to ensure our stay would meet our expectations, and to the beautiful reception staff, housekeeping, security and grounds people who greeted us with a warm welcome and a smile whenever we walked by. We would highly recommend this resort to all and will return next year.
- AlexanderW957 (6/5): 3 .5 Star - just my opinion - I stayed at The Waters in Khao Lak with a friend, and we had two different room types. Unfortunately, my experience with the room allocation wasn’t great at first – I was given a room with a view of a wall, and after requesting to be moved, I was relocated to one overlooking the staff car park. This made it hard to relax on the balcony, as staff would often stare over. On the positive side, breakfast was excellent for a Thai hotel, with plenty of choice from both Thai and Western options. The pool area is very large, although it could do with some TLC, such as retiling in places. The location was good, just a short walk from the beach, with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and the night market not too far away.

The accommodation and facilities were great and the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. A fairly quiet location, so ideal for relaxing and soaking up the sun. - robkearney (10/5): Excellent and friendly staff. Great pools. - We stayed a week here. It’s my first review for a while as we tend to stay in Airbnb villas these days rather than hotels. I felt I had to write a review as we were so very impressed with the service, hospitality and friendliness of the staff that work here. Everybody, and I mean everybody on the staff were absolutely courteous and helpful. My dad requested an armchair for sitting outside in an upper pool access room. It arrived immediately. My brother who had the room next to us had a leak from the aircon machine. This was fixed almost immediately and quite late at night. The next day a huge bowl of tropical fruit arrived by way of an apology. This was not needed but was of course a brilliant gesture by the hotel. We can’t fault anything about the hotel at all. We wrote the bacon at breakfast was far too crispy and overdone for us but this was nit picky on our part as the breakfast gave a vast choice cooked by the egg team in tremendous heat. Always delivered with a smile. The hotel isn’t on the beach, probably 200m away but we stayed near the vast number of pools during the day with a visit to white sand beach and coconut beach a taxi ride away where there are sun loungers fir hire. The rooms are large, the bathroom spacious and the cleaners/maid did an excellent job of looking after us with June being a real star. The bed sheets were banged every other day and the air con worked excellently :) Chita and her team were lovely. We have never been waved away in a taxi from a hotel before. We vowed we would return as the lives in low season are incredible value for money. We couldn’t fault anything with the staff or the accommodation. It is very close to lots of good quality restaurants and BangNiang market wasn’t far away with the Police boat tsunami museum the other side of the main road. All in all, we had a fabulous stay and we wish to return again as the holiday was so relaxing. Thankyou all the staff @ The Waters :)

We had a swim up room, which was excellent, clean with fresh towel every day, with bedding changed every 3 days. We had bed and breakfast only. There was such a variety of restaurant close by which were of a high standard. Definitely going back. Such a relaxing and enjoyable holiday
- 806deirdres (10/5): Beautiful Waters Hotel - We stayed in The Waters for 14 nights as a couple with 2 teenage girls & had an amazing experience. The staff are exceptional and were so pleasant to deal with. The Thai people in Khaolak were just lovely. The Waters Hotel is really central , 5 mins walk to the beach, near lots of beautiful restaurants and Bang Niang market. The swim up room is a must!! Beautiful large spotless rooms with the comfiest of beds! Breakfast is very nice with lots of options. The Waters serves delicious Italian food in their night restaurant. There are lots of trips that you can take from Khaolak to explore Thailand. We will be back!! ?🙏😍
- Alisonnoble30 (8/5): Great swim.up room - Stayed for 4 nights while travelling around Thailand, and it was been our favourite hotel so far. There was work getting done at hotel but was at other side of resort so did not impact us very much. We were also given free full room upgrades because of this which made the trip even better. Swim up Rooms were great, Our terrace was shady so we had to sun bathe on deck but it was fine. staff are lovely. Breakfast was good and would recommend this hotel.

It's definitely worth paying extra to get a room on ground level with direct pool access.We were there in off season and they were reasonable value, they look pretty expensive in high season though. Unfortunately the main pool was empty when we were there as they were renovating the pool and surrounding area which ruined the experience somewhat. We would ould given 5 stars if the pool was full of water 😀 The staff were very friendly, we appreciated an early check in, and the included breakfast was reasonable. There are loads of restaurants, bars, and massage places within 5 mins walk.
- R6397NXchloeh (10/5): Amazing Stay - Me and my friend stayed here for 4 nights and had an amazing stay. We were greeted at check-in with Butterfly Tea (We had this at every hotel we stayed at in Thailand, and it's such a nice gesture) When we arrived we noticed there was some construction happening, and we were a little nervous we'd hear the noise from our room, but the resort is huge and they put everyone in rooms far away from the noise. (Which also means we got upgraded to a nicer room) Which was brilliant. The hotel staff were very helpful and carried our luggage to our room for us, and the room itself was a great size. (Especially the large bathroom.) We were on the upper floor, meaning we had a balcony and pool access via a set of stairs which was very convenient. The room service was great, it serves the same food as the restaurant but for 10 baht more, which is very reasonable prices. I would recommend eating in the restaurant at least once though, the complimentary bread was very nice, and they have special offers on. It's also in a great location, so if you want to eat outside the hotel it's very easy to find somewhere. The breakfast was incredible, I was surprised by the variety they had, and the pancakes were my particular favourite. There's also a laundromat and a small shop on site, the shop only sells essentials but it's very convenient (There's a 7/11 a few minutes down the road if you need anything else though) Overall If I ever visit Khao Lak again I'd definitely be coming back here.

From the moment we arrived, every single staff member - from the friendly reception and happy bell boys to the attentive cleaning staff, maintenance crew, kitchen team, waiters and the pool bar crew greeted us with smiles and made us feel welcome. Nothing was ever too much trouble, even inflating our pool bed was done with a smile. We stayed in pool access room, the best decision - just step straight from your room into a large pool and being able to swim up to the pool bar during happy hour was a highlight! The location is excellent, walking distance to market and plenty of restaurants nearby. Highly recommend The Waters for anyone looking for a relaxing, friendly and fun stay in Khao Lak. We’ll definitely be back!!the

Hotel is close to markets and general shops and bars. Good central spot. A lot nicer than staying in Phuket, quiet ne chilled but with everything t your finger tips. Out front you have a small convenience store but another 100m away up have a huge new 7/11 with everything. Hopefully if you’re lucky you’ll meet Chong out front at his motorcycle repair and hire shop. His got charisma. You’ll know who I’m talking about if you see him.
- 281pruep (8/5): Almost Excellent - Our pool access room was amazing and I would have rated this stay as excellent but we had three families near us with little children and one was a screamer! Whilst they are "adult-focused", beware that there are children there who can take the peace away. Staff are all amazing. We noticed that maintenance men are constantly fixing things and making sure that the resort is in good condition. Big breakfast. One of the managers walks around the breakfast room, asking guests at random for any feedback - this is excellent. I asked her if all the kids could be placed together in maybe a kids section? Bars are only five minute walk - it's a great area.

- J4710OKdavidt (2/5): Unacceptable Standards and Service Issues at The Waters Khao Lak - The Waters Khao Lak, also failed to meet basic expectations. Despite paying for an upgrade, we were initially given a room that was dirty, damp, and furnished with stained, tired furniture. Only after several complaints and room changes were we given an acceptable room in a newer block. However, the general condition of the hotel was poor, food hygiene was questionable, and many other guests were also complaining and being pressured to pay for upgrades.
- Lara (10/5): Would be a great family location - This resort would be absolutely ideal for families with young children. The number of pools and access from the water access apartments is ideal. The rooms are just starting to show their age a little and some areas could benefit from a deep clean and recondition, but overall this place was great and the staff were brilliant.

- DaveCarol62 (6/5): The waters khao lak - To me not the best, at the hote at this procise moment, arrived at 1100am, told room won't be ready until 2pm, gave us towels so we could use the pools, but we had to ask if we could use the facilities. Breakfast ok, hotel needs updating, even though the staff try there best, don't have a bay room around the back, as the one I'm in is overlooking the back yard, where the staff park, and delivery, are done, so can be noisy and no veiw. Ask for a late check out said it would cost 1100 baht, around £26 for an extra 2 hours. Bring mozzie spray.
- amygS961FT (10/5): Fantastic hotel & staff - Stayed here for 2 weeks end of March and absolutely loved it. We had an upper pool access room which was amazing because it felt private but still had direct access to the pool. The room was great, it was really clean and the bed was so comfortable. Housekeeping do a fantastic job and they bring lovely fresh water everyday. The only thing we didn’t love about the room was the sliding screen separating the room from bathroom as it wasn’t very private. Breakfast was great, so much to choose from and we loved how long it was open for so suited everyone (6am - 10:30am). We also ate in the restaurant one night and also ordered room service one afternoon - the food was really nice. It’s definitely more expensive than other restaurants but hotels always are. The pools and ground were so nice, it was pretty quiet our first week which was perfect and we loved that there wasn’t many kids. The staff are the best asset to this hotel, everyone we encountered was so kind, helpful and so welcoming particularly the restaurant staff. Location is amazing and Khao Lak in general is fantastic, I understand why people return year after year. We would return 100% and thank you for the most special holiday!

- johnbC1467EU (10/5): Fantastic stay again. - We've stayed at The Waters on numerous occasions and the reason we've returned so many times is the ralaxing environment at this hotel. It's not only the the hotel that brings us back, just as important are the fantastic staff in reception, the bar, restaurant and house keeping who genuinely are glad to see us. There's alway a smile and they can't do enough the make our stay the best it can be. The hotels is close to a variety of bars, restaurants and shops so there's something for everyone.
- 207dixey (10/5): Great Hotel - What a great stay! The hotel is in a great location and very well maintained. You can walk straight out to restaurants and bars. The market is nearby. The staff work very hard to maintain the grounds. The pool rooms are great value for money compared to other resorts. In my opinion the website does not do the hotel justice. It was much nicer than I thought and breakfast had all we needed. Towels and water replenished daily also. Book a pool room. If more than 2 people I think the hotel should not recommend an upper pool room. Balcony is too small to accommodate 3. Lower pool is best bet.

The room was clean, modern, and super comfortable. The attention to detail really stood out. The highlight for me was the pool area — absolutely stunning! Whether you’re looking to relax or swim some laps, the pools were pristine and perfectly designed for both. Plenty of lounge chairs, great service by the pool, and a peaceful atmosphere made it feel like a true luxury escape. Every aspect of the hotel lived up to its 5-star rating. The staff were welcoming and professional, and every part of the property was immaculate. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again — highly recommend!
- haapatu (10/5): A Wonderful Stay at The Waters – We Didn’t Want to Leave! - This was our second time staying at The Waters, and once again, we had an amazing experience. The staff is always friendly and service-minded, going above and beyond to fulfill our requests—even when they weren’t the easiest to accommodate. Their effort made our stay truly special, and we enjoyed it so much that we didn’t want to leave for our next destination! The food at the hotel was delicious, with a great and flavorful breakfast. We also ordered room service, which was both tasty and reasonably priced. That said, there are also some great restaurants nearby. Our room had direct access to the pool, which was a fantastic feature. There were plenty of sun loungers available throughout the hotel area. The pool bar’s Happy Hour (from 3–5 PM) was a nice touch, with cocktails for 120 baht. A special shoutout to Jose at the pool bar, who always greeted us with a smile and remembered our drinks, and to Tuon for making such delicious cocktails. Thank you, The Waters, for another wonderful stay—we hope to see you again soon!

- juliemY739IA (8/5): Lovely but not fantastic - Lovely looking hotel, only if you have a swim up room the rest in my opinion is bang average, tiny gym open 7am-9pm that gets busy so you can’t use equipment. The breakfast is the worse I’ve seen. Plenty of choice of the wrong thing for me. I got by on croissants & fruit but the rest isn’t what i rated. We’ve travelled all over & I dont rate this for breakfast choices. No beach, pool tatty in areas, grounds & setting is lovely, clean. Swim up Rooms are lovely, I wouldn’t have wanted to go in any other room. Staff helpful. Lots of bars & restaurants just outside very cheap & nice food.
- paulwandjulie (10/5): Amazing hotel - This hotel is as good as any hotel I've stayed at with no negatives. We stayed in an upper water access room and it was huge. The bathroom and seperate shower were great, the balcony gave access to the pool which really was the star of the show. The breakfast was good and always plenty of choice. Khao lak is a relaxed resort with many superb restaurants and bars. My advice would be to get a water access room. I'll be returning to this place for sure.

- Hun (2/5): - Made a confirmed reservation for a Bay Romance room for its bathtub-in-the-room concept but when I arrived, I was told that it was not available as the wing was under renovation. Initially, I was told an impressive reason that I was given an upgrade to a pool access room but when I probed, I was told that there was no bathtub in the room. I mentioned that my decision to book Waters was because of the bathtub-in-the-room. I was then told that only the 2 bedder has it. I was brought to the room but the bathtub was a normal one. Very disappointed experience.
