- Natália Tiemi (6/5): “Overall a decent stay, but disappointing if your main goal is the private onsen experience. - - Great location. - The food was delicious - The staff was courteous and friendly. We only stayed at this hotel for one night, and one of the main reasons we booked it was for the private onsen experience. However, during check-in, we were informed that all private onsens were already fully booked. Unfortunately, this was not clearly communicated in advance. If booking a private onsen is important to you, you will probably need to stay for more than one night and secure a reservation early. Considering the price, the overall experience did not fully meet our expectations. While the hotel itself is good, it felt quite expensive for what it offers.

- Joel (4/5): Poor value for money - The food was pretty good and the beds were very comfortable. In Japan there are Ryokan's that are run with a real passion and love for the property and to really give guests an amazing experience and then there are businesses. This place is just a business. Just to give some context - I have lived in Japan for 16 years and have stayed in many different ryokan and hotels at different budgets. For this budget you can stay somewhere very nice and with great attention to detail. I did not expect the best but I expected a lot better than it is. - The corridors smelt of cigarettes - All of the furniture, cabinetry and the curtains were very cheap and flimsy like a business hotel. - There was constant confusion from our check-in as well as at every meal - we were a group with 3 rooms that had arranged to eat together and yet on the meal plan they only listed one room for each meal but they never explained this and each time we went to the restaurant we were told there was no table for us. It is just poor management. - A big issue was the view: When you pay this much you expect to get a good view and we had a view of an empty drainage pond - see photos. They could pay a gardener to sort this out with less than the cost of our room fee for 1 night yet they just had not bothered. If you are coming to Japan for a real ryokan experience then I recommend you to look elsewhere.

The staff were very welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. We especially enjoyed the relaxing onsen experience and the traditional ryokan atmosphere. The room was comfortable and the overall experience felt very authentic and relaxing. There was very little to dislike. Since it was only a one-night stay, we wish we had more time to enjoy the amenities and surrounding area.

The room had both a hot spring bath and foot bath and they were AMAZING, after the hakone loop we just wanted to get back and sit there for hours. We received yukatas which was lovely. The room had lots of amenities, from combs and razors to different kinds of coffee and tea, and even beer. Location is perfect, just near the gora station The lighting in the room could be better. The breakfast and dinner had no choices (chef’s decision for the day), so cannot akin to those who eat different stuff (lots of fish based dishes). The toilet room has a sink but no soap, so you need to walk across the room for the other sink.
- manami (1/5): - 立地はよい 金額と食事やサービスが見合ってない 一泊一人5万円弱で連泊したが 連泊の清掃は追加料金と言われた。今までたくさんのホテルに泊まったが、安いホテルでもそんなことを言われたことはない。 食事は、ランク上げし、特選か何かにしたが、所々に既製品が見られ、味も微妙、2万円くらいの宿の印象。 スタッフも簡素かされ、若い海外向けのスタッフばかりで、全てがアプリ化 旅館なのに、部屋までの案内はなく、荷物を運んでもくれない 箱根がここ何年かで値上がりしているのは分かるが、2万円くらいの価値しか感じなかった 部屋が露天風呂付きにしたので、それで値段が高いにしても、食事やサービスは安いホテルと変わらない 家族四人で40万円弱払い、喜んでもらいたかったのに、残念でしかない。もっと口コミを先に調べて行けば良かった。一番安い部屋で泊まるなら、ま、見合った食事かもですね 2度と利用しません

- Mary (10/5): - This hotel is a wonderful example of the traditional Japanese ryokan experience. Only a few minutes walk from Gora station, plenty of amenities included like welcome drinks, in room minibar, coffee, tea, and private onsen on the balcony. The room itself is spacious, comfortable, and clean. Pictures don't do this place justice, it was absolutely amazing. Half board was included in our stay, and while some of the food wasn't to our western palette's liking, the presentation was amazing and we could tell it was fantastic quality. We appreciated the opportunity to try this style of dining for the first time!
- manami (3/5): - 払ったのは、一人約5万近くの連泊で、連泊の清掃に追加料金が言われたのは人生で初めてです。 さらに荷物を部屋まで運んだり案内など一切ありません。すべてアプリで、最初の案内のみ さらに食事は普通の夕食けら厳選懐石にしましたが、この料金のお宿の料理ではない 料理が一番最悪です。ランクアップした意味 たまに既製品は見かけるし、いちいちよけない味付けをして、美味しくないし、サービスも若いスタッフのみで、一人2万円以下のホテルとかとか変わりません。 夕食は17時30と19時30の二部せいのみ、、早すぎる遅すぎる お部屋だけは、まだいい気がしますが、他の客が廊下を歩く度に下駄がうるさくて、、何度も起きました。
- taktako (10/5): Great, hefty price tag - We booked one night at Tensui Saryo to be able to spend more than one day in the Hakone area. The hotel is just amazing. First, it is a few strps from Goma station (trains here run directly to Hakone-Yamuto) Then, you have the room, a spacious traditional Japanese one, complete with tatamis, a private onsen and a small living area. And then the cherry on the pie: the food. The dinner and the breakfast were really outstanding, and in the utmost Japanese tradition. The price is definitely high, but if you use all the perks (dinner, breakfast, onsens), it could be justified somehow. Overall the value for the price is somewhat good, but not exceptional. I'd also would have liked some instructions on how to set up the tatamis or how to use the room correctly, being our first time at a Ryokan

- Miguel (10/5): - We stayed at the Adult Annex and it was a wonderful experience, the room was spacious with an exterior balcony connected to the shower that contained our very private hotspring. We made sure to use it as often as possible and despite our stay being brief we always felt extremely relaxed, specially when we came back after doing a bit of tourism to rest our weary muscles. The staff kindly brought a few drinks every day, free of charge, which make a great combo with a hot bath. Dinners were also excellent, bringing the experience to a high degree of luxury, food was delicious and varied, having been prepared with the utmost care and finesse. Many tastes were new to us, others familiar but fresher, better, we enjoyed them all. Breakfasts were good but we personally do prefer something more western at that time of day, still, they were filling and energizing. Overall we got no notes, we expected luxury but our expectations were surpassed, we couldn't get enough of the open air bath and felt like Royalty every night, a marvelous experience, we'd love to come back.

- Smarti16 (10/5): Wunderbares Hotel im schönen Hakone! - Einfach alles war sehr gut! Wir haben die Unterkunft sehr kurzfristig gebucht, dementsprechend teuer waren die 2 Nächte und etwas Sorgen haben wir uns gemacht, ob sich das lohnen könnte. Es hat sich definitiv gelohnt! Das Personal ist durchgehend freundlich, es gibt einen Willkommens-Snack, man darf sich einen Yukata nehmen, sowohl die öffentlichen Bäder als auch die privat buchbaren sind super, in der Nähe gibt es leckere Restaurants.. Rundum gelungener Aufenthalt. Wir waren sehr traurig, dass wir nur 2 Nächte bleiben konnten. Wenn man etwas bemängeln möchte, dann die Dusche im Zimmer. Diese war im Verhältnis zum üppigen Zimmer eng. Außerdem funktionierte der Abfluss nicht gut. Wir haben die Dusche aber nur einmal genutzt, weil man ansonsten die Duschen in den Bädern nutzen kann.

The stone bath in my room was such a highlight - perfect after a day of wandering around Hakone. But I also booked an hour in the private outdoor onsen, which was lovely. I loved all of the little touches, from being able to choose my own yukata to the free welcome drink at the lobby bar with footbath. The location was amazing, just a few minutes from the station. And the coffee shop across the road served great coffee. I didn't have the dinner but did have the breakfast, which in the end I wasn't in the mood for as I wanted something simple at 7.30 am. In retrospect, I should have planned to go to the coffee shop across the road. But the breakfast was quite a visual spectacle and the service was great.

- Corey (10/5): Comfortable, friendly staff and great experience! - The futons were incredibly comfortable, and having a private bath in the room really elevated the whole stay. There was plenty of space, and the range of amenities made it feel even more luxurious. The staff went above and beyond with their service, and the traditional dinner and breakfast truly added to the overall experience. Honestly, it’s hard to fault this accommodation. The only minor downside was that the view from our balcony was a bit obstructed by trees, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience of staying in a traditional ryokan.

Suggest a card for non Japanese in English explaining what each is for. We suggest a card explaining all the different foods at dinner and breakfast and how to prepare and eat them.

- shiho (9/5): 充実した新婚旅行 - スタッフの皆様がとても親切です。 浴衣も選べて 足湯バーもあるのが良い！！！ ウェルカムドリンクサービスもあります！ お部屋は客室露天風呂がある風祭に泊まりました。 お部屋もとても広く露天風呂は快適でした！ 温泉の香りと気持ちのいい夜風を堪能できました！ 今回はまだ桜は咲いていなかったのですが 紅葉や桜のシーズンはもっと楽しいと思います！ 夕食は豪華でたくさんのお料理と旬のものが楽しめました！ 朝食も沢山のお料理でワクワクでいっぱいでした！ 量が多いため少し残しちゃいました！ごめんなさい。 でも味は絶品。 次の日の朝は雨でしたが雨の音を聴きながらの朝風呂は最高でした。 お風呂のシャワー室の排水の流れが少し悪かったのかな？と思います。 お部屋のアメニティで化粧水、乳液などあれば良かったかなです。

- Freddy (10/5): Wir kommen wieder - Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Da es uns das letzte mal, welche bereits sehr gut gefallen hat, haben wir dieses Jahr erneut einen Besuch gebucht. Der Onsen Bottich im Zimmer haben wir auch dieses Mal geliebt. Fensterrahmen im Onsen Bereich nicht ganz schliessend.
- Elysa (9/5): It was a perfect stay for resting and relaxing after a few days of traveling and adventuring! - Loved the available services for the stay! We mostly remained in the hotel throughout the day as it had beautiful mountain views and was a day for rest! Accessing the public bath, outdoor hot spring, bed rock bath, and the foot spa bar can fill your day relaxing and resting! A bonus was booking the open air bath on our balcony! The food was exceptional - a set menu for dinner and array of breakfast sides! It was appreciated that we got to choose a coloured yukata to wear throughout the hotel, and provided slippers to walk around rather than wearing personal bulky clothes! The pajamas and futon was comfortable to sleep in, and the room was spacious to feel like we could relax around! The bathroom sort of smelt damp but it wasn't too uncomfortable or unbearable to tolerate.

- 今立 (7/5): 良かったですが、改善点もあると思いました。 - 足湯カフェのおもてなしは最高でした。夕食も大変美味しく頂きました。 夕食の際に最初におしぼりを運び忘れられていたようでした。 朝食の際にドレッシングが一つ運び忘れられていました。 お部屋の加湿空気清浄機の加湿が出ませんでした（410号室）。 テレビをつけると液晶画面に細かい横線が入るようです（410号室）。

- OHAD (6/5): - Clean, nice onsen Wanted extra money to clean the room . All systems (AC and water ) in the room in japanese only and not clear for tourists. I did not have hot water in the mornings, which was annoying.
- Megan (9/5): - I stayed in 5 places during my visit to Japan and this one was the best. The room is massive and even has another side room to sit in. Onsens were open til midnight. WiFi was reliable. The two highlights for me were the location: 1) Gora is a nice and quiet mountain town and this ryokan is right next to the station, very easy to find and short transit. 2) The meals were exceptional! Private spaces fo meals. Big breakfast, multi-course dinners, beautiful porcelain, and all really delicious! This didn't bother me at all but I could see some folks wanting a heads up about it: you can hear the Gora station announcements very clearly from the ryokan. Being able to convey information is, of course, the whole point of loud announcements, but some light sleepers may not want to be woken up at 6am for it :) oh also be aware that the meal times do have an ending - unfortunately I wasn't informed at the start of the meal, and a few times I had to rush my eating towards the end because they were asking me to leave. So just ask ahead of time so you can pace your eating accordingly.
