Guest Reviews
- Traci L (6/5): - If you want a convenient and clean place to stay you will not be disappointed. However, the road noise is very loud. We changed to a different hotel after one night so we could sleep. Not the hotel’s fault, just the reality of the situation.
- Diego (8/5): - Location was perfect for our purposes of the race that was starting accross the street. It was easy, safe and convenient. My only recommendation is to add small refrigerators to the rooms.
- Richard (8/5): - Beau petit hôtel bien situé pour accéder au Parc national et aux bains nombreux dans la région.
La piscine est agréable et constitue un bel avantage.
Toutefois, il manque d'espace dans la salle de bain.
- Yuliya (10/5): Good budget friendly option - I recently stayed at a hotel in La Fortuna and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The hotel offered fantastic value for the price, providing top-notch amenities without breaking the bank. Its convenient location made exploring the town and nearby attractions a breeze. One of the highlights was the effective air conditioning, which was a welcome relief after a day of adventuring in the warm Costa Rican climate. Overall, I found this hotel to be an excellent choice for travelers seeking affordability, convenience, and comfort in La Fortuna.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Worth staying - Hotel in the outsides and it is more of a motel style but definitely worth staying. They have running hot water, comfortable beds and the most important, they have air conditioning. Restaurants are walking distance but the only down side is since it is next to a main road, you can head certain big cars.
- Mary Ann (8/5): - What I really appreciated here was the service. The receptionist were all nice and helpful. The pool was clean and breakfast was very good. The place is a liitle outdated but kept clean. The only negative thing I can say it is noisy because it is situated on a busy street.
- Kayla (10/5): - Clean rooms and friendly staff! Very helpful when it came to asking what excursions to do and things to see. Thank you so much!
- Katrina (8/5): - Room had everything we needed including hot water and AC
Pool was nice too
Restaurants in all directions.
Easy to find and convenient
- William (10/5): - Unique: the gardens at the back.
- Kelsey (10/5): - This was a small, but very lovely hotel. The rooms were very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations. The pool was nice and the public garden behind were nice too. We would absolutely stay here again.
- Cindy (10/5): - Super easy people was super helpful an arrangement of our tours
- Abilio (10/5): - Small hotel within walking distance ti shops and supermarkets and 2km by car ti the center of La Fortuna Safe either place to walk at night and in The center of La Fortuna several restaurants and shopping areas. The hotel is about 15 mts by car to Arenal Volcano and on the way we stopped at some public hot springs The owner was very friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The front desk was extremely helpful and helped us with a lot of questions that we had.
- Scott (8/5): - Nice hotel and beautiful gardens but because it’s on the busy main street it gets quite noisy with ATVs and trucks going up and down the street in the early morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very convenient location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.
- Rick (6/5): - Staffs were friendly and helpful. We had to change room because of toilet flush problem. Besides TV, there is no amenities.
- Fany (8/5): Very good choice - It was a very convenient place just below the volcano. Really nice staff.
- Jules (8/5): - Great location, easy parking, free&ok breakfast.
Good "basecamp" for any activities around Arenal.
Recomended.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent Hotel in an ideal location. The free breakfast was excellent at restaurant next door. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Susan (8/5): A Good Value Stay - The hotel was lovely with kind, helpful staff. My room was large with a great view of the Arenal Volcano, but was quite dark. It could definitely use more lighting, as it was too dark to do any reading at night. The area was away from La Fortuna proper, but there were lots of restaurants within walking distance.
- Sara (10/5): - Excellent staff who were always willing to help me find better deals, call a taxi, and set up tours. They were extremely kind including Karen and I forget the other girls names. The shower water was very hot, good WiFi. The room itself wasn’t anything special. Could use a bedside table lamp. The breakfast included was a little restaurant next door. It was a CR breakfast and was delicious, hot, fast, filling. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for a short stay - Nothing fancy but clean and convenient . Pool is good and breakfast was decent.
- Mark (10/5): - Wonderful stay, good breakfast next door (costa rica breakfast), used the pool every morning. WIFI was slobw
- Victoria (8/5): pros and cons - The hotel is older than many in this area and as a result smaller and with somewhat fewer amenities. Negatives were that the hot tub wasn't...it was the same colder temp as swimming pool, the lock on the window was broken but wasn't a big deal on 2nd floor and bathroom cabinet under the sink had a pronounced musty odor. Positives were lovely front desk people in the evening and next morning,
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay - Staff was amazing and very helpful. Comfy room with A/C. Really enjoyed our stay
- anaisy (10/5): Convenient hotel - This hotel is close to the town , we stayed there fot 3 nights and had a good experience. The breakfast included is in the restaurant next to it and its close to the town. We walked during the day to the town and got a taxi back which was 3$ because it was too dark. It has a supermarket across from it qhich is very convenient as well. The staff was friendly and helped u. The wifi was not working too good on the second floor but we were able to connect to the restaurant wifi so it worked out.
- Tyler (10/5): - The woman at the front desk was very sweet and helpful. Room was clean and easy to find and access. Would recommend.
- Rupesh (6/5): Clean Hotel ! - Nobody was available at Desk in night. We had to take help from staff of restaurant from across the hotel. All in all OK experience.
- B (6/5): A bit overpriced - The hotel was really outdated and thus, overpriced. The worse thing was the mold and mildew on the walls. The staff was really friendly and eager to serve. The best part of this hotel is that it is next door to the "Mi Casa" restaurant - an absolute fine dining experience - we ate there 3 times (on a one night hotel stay).
- Carina (8/5): Clean & Convenient Hotel - Convenient location, clean room/grounds. Friendly and accommodating staff, helped us get find transportation to the coast even though all the shuttles were full. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent hotel - The hotel was decent, the rooms were clean. It was on the highway, so the proximity to everything was nice. Easy to get in and out. Supermarket and restaurants nearby. Road noise was a slight issue (some might be too bothered by it). Overall, nice value for the price.
- LS (6/5): Overall decent sleep for one or two night stay - The staff was very friendly and offered suggestions about the area and what to do and see. The beds were comfortable enough for a short stay but may hurt the back after that as the mattresses were a little basic.
Breakfast was included and was delicious.. Also very great service.
We didn't use the pool or hot tub but it looked like it was in good shape and others seemed to be enjoying it.
Overall a good place to stay for a great price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Good view of volcano, but a lot of traffic noise. - Room was decent for the price. Pretty good free breakfast. Disappointed the jacuzzi wasn't working. Close to falls and volcano.
- Julia (10/5): La Fortuna - Small hotel 2km from La Fortuna. Great breakfast included at the restaurant next to hotel. The staff were very helpful in booking my tours and cab.
- ERIC (6/5): - The only negative thing i have to say about the place is that it's on a main road and the mototcycles are very loud. Had a hard time sleeping because of that.
- Christina (10/5): Comfortable, good toilets, noise not a problem - This was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our 6 nights in Costa Rica. The room was a comfortable size, and most importantly, the toilet had sufficient flushing power. In Costa Rica you're not supposed to flush toilet paper (there's a waste bin provided next to the toilet for disposing of your paper), and indeed, the toilets can't handle even a bit of paper... which means they often can’t handle natural things more substantial than paper. As minor and ridiculous as this seems, not having a decent toilet can quickly become a major source of stress on a vacation.
Toilets aside, the staff were very friendly. The view of the Arenal volcano was great. Rooms on the second floor had a bench to sit on, but unfortunately the bench was on the opposite side of the volcano (the window inside the room faced the volcano). The free breakfast was a generous voucher for breakfast at the restaurant right next door.
The pool in the back was nice, but the hot tub was not working when we were there so the temperature was the same as the pool. Other reviewers on Hotels.com complained about the noise, but my husband and I didn't think noise was a problem. (The restaurant next door could be loud during the evening, but it quieted down by the time we went to sleep.) The free WiFi was down one night when we were there, but it was fixed by the next morning. The bathroom and the room itself were very clean, and the bed was just fine. All in all, we were satisfied.
- Marco (8/5): Well located, excellent view - The place is fairly new, rooms are huge, can accommodate easily 4 persons in double beds. Bathroom is clean and comfortable. The view from the rooms is direct to the volcano. The hotel is close to everything. The staff is quite helpful. The breakfast is beyond the normal continental and offers typical, american, continental, etc.
- Born to Travel (10/5): Great stay and value! - Friendly staff and close proximity to Baldi hot springs which is a must do!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Mediocre at best - This is midway between a hostel and a hotel. It's very minimum. The room does have an AC, but no refrigerator or microwave oven. Beds, a small table and two chairs are all there is in the room.
- etiennemasse (8/5): Nice view Arenal - Pool wifi good breakfast but on the side of the main road so bit nousy of the big trucks that pass by
- Poonam Reddy (6/5): good - Descent for the price. It is off the center of town, so quiet in the night, but safe.
- Li (8/5): Nice and clean small hotel at the volcano foothill - Hotel Vista del Cerro is a nice small hotel at the Arenal volcano foothill. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. The room was clean and spacious. We had a little problem in the ceiling. The owner and staff were very responsive and fixed the problems quickly. We did encounter a bit surprise during check-in. When we made the reservation with Expedia, we entered the ages of children correctly and prepaid the room price. At check-in time, the staff told us that the children are considered adults and we were asked to pay additional.
Overall it was a nice hotel. Next to it there is a small restaurant Mi Casa - very convenient and great food.
- Nazish (8/5): Good value for the money. - Good view of the Arenal volcano from the hotel. Room was spacious and clean, though the wifi signal in the room was weak, worked fine when we stepped out to the balcony. The hotel is a few km from downtown and La Fortuna waterfall. Staff is very pleasant. Will definitely there stay if we visit again.
- Marie-Claude (4/5): Too noisy - It`s a family run hotel. The staff is very very nice but the hotel is on the main street and it`s start to be very very noisy at 5 am. The kids slept thrue it but not us. You also can hear the neighburg like they were in your room. The view is amazing and the staff friendly but if you want quiet don`t book there. Too expensive *$95 for 4*. Sorry for the owners but that`s the truth
- Andrew (8/5): Simple, clean place to stay when visiting Arenal - Vista Del Cerro is a small, simple hotel on the road from La Fortuna to Arenal. The room was a bit dim, though clean. The staff, though many of them didn't speak a lot of English, were extremely helpful in setting us up with tickets to go to the hot springs and taxis to take us to the national park and the restaurants in downtown La Fortuna. This is key, because given the hotel's location you'll need a ride to get either place (you could walk into town for dinner, but it's a ways down a dark highway).
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too noisy - Rebecca at reception was fantastic but the walls are thin and windows single pane so you can hear all the disturbances outside- roosters, ATVs, motorcycles without mufflers, etc.
- Christine (6/5): Great location - The hotel is centrally located between La Fortuna and Arenal. Lots of stores including a supermarket across the street from the hotel. Rebecca from reception was very helpful and friendly. She helped us a lot.
The hotel is located on the main road which means it's very noisy. If you have problems sleeping, I do not recommend this hotel for you. You can hear each car passing by.
- Loneb (8/5): Great location for seeing the sites at Arenal - The room was comfortable. Jenny was very helpful. The grounds and pool area were very nicely landscaped. Lots of restaurants close by. Breakfast was very good. An easy walk into town. Very nice area.
- RIMike (8/5): Inexpensive option while visiting Arenal/LaFortuna - While this is not a top of the line hotel, it was more than adequate to meet our needs while visiting the area. WE had trouble finding it at first, it was, once found, easy to access on the main road leading out of town. WE found the staff trying be very helpful to make our stay exceptional including a tip on where to see birds "Donanas". The stay also included a very nice breakfast. The shower water pressure was not strong and it took a long time to get warm water, but both were adequate. We would stay here again unless we chose a lodge that specialized in birding.
