Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This hotel I booked for my sister as my place was booked nearby . This is an older property that looks tired. Friend,y management , good location,
- Jib (10/5): - nothing to dislike, location good, facilities good, owner very frienly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good deal and renovated rooms! Quiet and nicely located to downtown.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Hotel Staff where veyy nice and knowledgeable of the area and what was good to do out there
- Holly (4/5): Maintenance please. - We were very disappointed in the lack of maintenance. Mainly the caulking was mostly off around the sink and tub, which made it look terrible. Other then that it was okay. Near lots of restaurants and dud gave a swimming pool.
- Mark (2/5): Stay away from here - Cockroaches all over the room. Checked out and split this bad place. Nothing works either...A/C, heater, shower. Not a good place to stay.
- Mark (2/5): Cockroaches - Cockroaches in the room, told the desk guy and he said they would process refund. Called booking site, they called hotel and they refused to process refund. Had to send them a picture of the bugs in my room. Not cool.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was very nice and very clean. I would stay her again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Retro style hotel near the main strip and walking distance to some great hiking and breakfast spots! This hotel was very convenient for our stay and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. I will definitely consider staying here in the future!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is good. A short uber to the downtown area. The room was updated and clean. Its an older property and doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a newer chain hotel.
The bed was comfortable and the place was clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place. Huge value for the price in Palm Springs. Lovely staff. No it's not the Ritz Carlton, but it's all it needs to be and then some. I only stayed there the first time because all my regular higher end places were full. But after that first stay, I've been back 3 times.
- Charles (8/5): - Close to town and mountains. Room was clean. Front desk was very helpful getting us paper pltes, napkins and utensils.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The most uncomfortable mattresses ever. Throw them away and buy new ones. The mattresses in the room are probably 20 -30 years old. I woke with the worst back pain each night.
- Jose (6/5): - if you are on the 1st floor the 2nd floor guess are loud and you can hear everything. Not able to sleep or rest.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value with updated rooms - I was pleasantly surprised by how nice our stay was at this hotel. The room was very recently remodeled, the location was convenient to downtown, and it was perfect for a one night stay as I passed through Palm Springs.
- Verified traveler (4/5): DO NOT RECOMMEND - DO NOT RECOMMEND. The room smelled so strongly of something that even my dog didn't want to enter and I got a terrible headache. Room is tiny. Find someplace else to stay.
- Kyle (10/5): Great place! - Cute boutique hotel. Everything worked. Staff was super friendly. No problems.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A Pleasant Surprise - A very pleasant stay in a great location.
- Heidi (10/5): - The room was well-kept and clean. You can tell management takes pride in the property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Like I always say, you get what you pay for. Overall this isn't really a three star hotel but it gets a three star review because of my motto. We needed a place to stay in Palm Springs just for a few hours of sleep so we didn't want to spend a ton of money. This was one of the cheapest options and it served it's purpose. The room was clean and that is all you can really ask for. The bed was super uncomfortable and the headboard would hit the wall if you moved at all. Check in was strange, the entire process was done from behind a window.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I was told to stay here by a friend who loved this place. It isn't the old school place it use to be and as my low desert native friend said it was but it was perfect for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service is great. Family-owned with pride. Very warm greeting desk.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the hotel design and colors really make you feel like you are in Palm Springs
- Verified traveler (6/5): - clean,
- Julie Chris (10/5): - Outside was a little dingie. Room was updated and clean. Very nice desk clerks
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value at this price range - Check in/out was very fast during mid week. Hotel seemed in good condition overall for it's age. Looked like renovations had taken place in recent years. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Only small issue was the audio of the flat screen TV was muffled/garbled at low volume settings, like you would set at night so as not to disturb other guests. Found out When I Checked Out that the problem seemed to be in the whole hotel and there was some type of key stroke combination on the TV remote (?) that was supposed to fix this issue. If that was the case, why not notify you at check in, or leave a note in the room (like wifi instructions) for this issue.
- Mario (6/5): - The bed uncomfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff 👍 Close to the airport and downtown very convenient. My new little Hidden Gem!! Hope to be back soon🙂
- Daniel (10/5): Great hotel great price - The staff was amazing. The room was great. The staff even gave us locations to explore and treated you like one of their friends.
- Amy (8/5): Cool hotel! - Owners are really cool. Hotel is renovated, and relatively inexpensive for the area. A little warm upon arrival, they may want to pre AC the rooms in the summer. Recommended!
- Marston (10/5): Best Buy in town - The bedding was on par with the Hilton...excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The people who run Musicland are very kind and very accommodating .
- Alexander (2/5): Shitty - 1. Manager was rude and wouldn’t do anything about complaint.
We got in around 6/7pm and dropped our bags and went to meet friends for dinner and drinks came back around 12:30am and right when we walked in giant cockroach went under the bed. We checked out after we saw that and went to our friends hotel. Visited the hotel in the morning to complain manager was not helpful and denied us seeing bugs.
- David (10/5): - Manager was extremely friendly! Only downside was the pillows were hard as a rock. Had to pile up a sheet as a makeshift pillow.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I wanted a nice weekend getaway and didn't want to spend a lot of money. The rooms were nice. They were in good condition and clean. There was a small coffee pot (like most places) not my favorite. There was a fridge in the room that kept our leftovers nice and cold. They even have a blow dryer for your hair. I spent a ton of time trying to decide where to stay and decided on Musicland because of the reviews. If you are big on first impressions this is probably not the place for you. My first impression was that is was a little run down from the outside. I wasnt going to be sleeping out there and based off of the reviews i knew the rooms were in good condition. My wife was a little aprehensive at first until the air conditioner in the room won her over (she hates the heat). I am big on cleanliness and the room met my approval. It was quiet and I slept great. The bathroom was in fair condition with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. If you are on a budget I would recommend Musicland Hotel.
- LISA (8/5): - Loved the jacuzzi. The outside walkways were a little worn.
- Charles (10/5): - As advertised, great location near downtown palm springs for the last minute budget travelers.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Costumer service is great 👍
Love about the bicicles
- FrequentTravel (8/5): - The location is really good and there is a free city shuttle that stop right outside of the motel.
This place is a diamond in the rough. Mid Century Modern original. Unfortunately the rooms are in need of a serious remodel. The pool and jacuzzi is definitely attractive but also, needs a good cleaning and more chlorine! I only know because I’m a pool man. The bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was hot but as mentioned, the rooms need to be brought up to date. If they were... the price would double, which would be reasonable.
- ScoobB (8/5): - Location was good.
You can use free bicycles
They do not provide facial tissues
Toilet seat was loose and i had to borrow a screwdriver to fix it. Even after knowing i was borrowing a screwdriver to fix it, they didn’t offer to help. Other guests we met said the same thing. Toilets seats have 2 large plastic screws!?!?
Strong smell of a gas leak by the pool. I reported the smell to the male manager. He had an untruthful excuse.
- Colin (6/5): - The room was nice and seemed recently remodeled but the shower was broken and had very little water pressure and the water was hard and smelled like sulfur. I would have asked for a new room but I’d been hiking all day and just wanted to shower and lay down.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was nice to be just outside of all of the downtown activity and to be in a quiet location. The room was not very clean however, and although the staff were friendly not all of them were attentive or visible at all for long periods of time. I would not recommend this location for more than a very short stay.
- Gale (4/5): Gale schlee - Noisy
- John (4/5): Smells like mold - The room smelled like mold and the hotel was low quality overall. When I tried to check out a day later and find somewhere else to stay, they wouldn’t refund my stay, only offered me to come back another time. That will never happen!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The advantage to this property was its proximity to downtown Palm Springs.
It was very noisy. Upstairs neighbours were walking very heavily and talking very loud overhead during the night. When we informed the front desk, they smiled and said, “OK”. Didn’t seem to care for our comfort.
- Donna (2/5): Musical disaster. - By far the worst Motel I have ever stayed in. Does not deserve even 1 star. Hotels.Com should not have it available as on of their properties and frankly one might reconsider using H.C as a provider. First of all we made our reservation on the evening of Jan 22. No where on the reservation form did it say non-refundable. The following day we learned of a family illness and attempted to cancel the reservation. H.C said there was a 50% penalty. According to H.C they sent a confirmation e-mail late on Jan22. Contrary to the confirmation we printed out when we booked the stay, that e-mail did in fact say we had to cancel by Jan22 or face a 50% cancellation charge. Duh, 2 hours before we had just made the reservation Needless to say numerous cancellation conversations with both the motel and H.C proved fruitless as each pointed to the other as to whose policy it was. So much for the penalty. The property had no security latch on the door, no clothes closet, only a flimsy portable rack, bathroom door couldn't be shut as it was warped, the heater had a broken temperature control switch, the bed sagged in the middle like a hammock and we saw one or more large cockroaches in the bath area.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room smelled the first night. Fridge very loud and right beside bed. Overall needs an update.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Nothing I thought the owner was really good to me and my husband so we continued our bookings at the music land and built a feiendly relationship with the Lady of the hotel and my husband had a bad night and got loud after a late hour of night the daughter was in my face and the next morning I apologized for the way he acted and if I can rent the room another night she said no leave and the room had someone's belongings like someone had been already using the room there is mold in the shower jast a mess
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the proximity to the downtown and to the golf courses. Good parking facilities, comfortable beds.
Reno's were underway but not at all disturbing. The floors are tile and need to be scrubbed they were messy.
This is a budget hotel and is very good for the location and the price
- STEVEN (2/5): Just stay away - You do not know if you are getting clean sheets or someone else's used ones. They do not wash anything there. They use a service. If they run out... good luck. Half as$ renovations.
- STEVEN (2/5): Don't even bother with this place - I had to wait for owners to wake up and check me in at 10pm. The owners informed me I had to leave because my shoes got the sheet dirty. "We do not wash sheets here. We get them from outside." I would assume a laundry service. So! Beware of staying here and actually having fresh clean sheets. Shower curtain stunk like mildew. Half as$ renovations.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good basic room, clean. Staff was friendly and helpful
- Christine (10/5): - Staff friendly and welcoming. Room spotless and bed comfortable. Liked the fact that a fridge & microwave were in room . Makes it easy to keep leftovers & re heat
- Frank (8/5): Midcentury Gem - We visited Palm Springs for Modernism Week, and it seemed fitting to stay in a midcentury motel. The price was reasonable, and the room, while quite austere, was very clean, had been recently renovated and featured a Phillipe Starck Kartell chair. The wooden plantation shutters allowed a view of the mountains while providing privacy. The location was convenient.
- Patty (10/5): Close to the airport - We chose to stay at Musicland because it was close to the airport and we had a six AM plane to catch. The owner and his daughter could not have been more helpful. They printed out our tickets and made sure we had our transportation for the following morning planned out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not too bad... - If you’re just looking for a place to sleep and shower, this is a good place. It’s a bit dated and the decor is mismatched styles. The spa and pool were decent and parking is limited.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was clean but has no bedside lights, and no heat. Stairs are in poor repair., otherwise close to downtown
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere else. Couldn’t get the cable on the TV to work, smoke detector was covered in plastic, floors were very creaky, outdated, shower knob was broken.
- Neal (4/5): Misrepresented - Pictures from the website were not a true representation of the hotel. The hotel was not very clean, no lamps, the heat/ac was extremely outdated and very loud, the bathroom sink was too small to even wash your hands, there was still ice cream in the freezer from prior guests, the floor needed swept, headboard to the bed was loose and moved around, the painting in the room was incomplete and where it was painted it appeared that a small child could’ve done a better job. All in all, a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Room is so bare it’s like a prison room! Not even a bedside light to read by just one ceiling light. Not cozy or welcoming at all.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Freshly painted.friendly staff.convenient late check in plus free parking.nice pool.wifi works!
- James (8/5): Great location, value hotel - Great location, nice design, a little weathered.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - location was excellent. Front desk staff friendly helpful and knowledgable. We had second floor king which included a kitchenette with microwave coffee machine and stove. very spacious clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Safe and cozy little place we love our visits here thank you Music land for your hospitality and your kindness
- Douglas (8/5): Staying in Palm Springs - Hotel is only a 20 minute walk from downtown Palm Springs. Very big room. Staff fixed my sink faucet issue. They have a bike to use which was excellent.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Feel bad writing this, as the family that runs it is quite nice. The room was quite distressed and tired. Also, the owner used this room as an Indian Kitchen for two months, so it had a heavy odor. Nice to have a kitchen, but not one thing supplied, not even a dish cloth or utensil. We were told the pool was heated, but it was freezing, the hot tub only had one jet working. Stark bare walls, no head board. Bathroom was clean, but very old looking. Too bad, as this retro place has amazing potential. If it's called musicland, why not display pictures relating to music, or something. They loaned us bikes for free which was very nice. Hotel is walking distance to downtown, if you are open to walking 10 - 15 mins in the heat.
- Judi (6/5): - Even with assistance from management, could not get TV to work.
- Judi (6/5): - The floor was cement, painted gray, no carpet, no rugs.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was clean and you can tell that they went out of their way to make everything look nice.
- C (6/5): - hotel was okay - nothing extraordinary...the room did have a odd smell when we walked in
- Deb (10/5): - I liked the tile floors that were very clean. No nasty carpeting! The kitchenette was nice, also.
- Matthew (8/5): - We requested a handicapped accessible room when our reservation was made on Hotels.com. When we arrived at the hotel, they did not have a handicapped room available. They did give us a room on the first floor which worked for our situation. Other than this initial complication, our stay at the hotel was just fine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It’s just ok. The rooms were very odd. There were no lamps, art, chairs (except a small pull up at the desk)or hooks for towels. The beds were comfortable and very clean. The people at the desk were very nice. The hot tube was hot and clean. The walkways look like roads in New England.......full of pot holes with loose cement all over the place. We got this at the last minute and were able to take our dog. I’m still not sure why it’s named musicland though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Convenient, quiet, excellent staff, room was spotless, for my budget- it was a good choice— I’d stay again
- Shane (8/5): Music land Dec 18 - Overall good.........only negative were that the walls were thin so you could hear your neighbours tv.
- DaleO (10/5): - Rooms have recently been remodeled. Comfortable beds with nice linens. Easy parking. Close to downtown restaurants and attractions. Good value for the price I paid.
- Julie (10/5): Snow birds and travel nurses welcome! - Mr. Bob and his family are very welcoming. They do an excellent job catering to their guests. This is a great place to stay if you are coming to Palm Springs!
- Brett (2/5): More of a $40/night place. Need alot of work - The room wreaked of mold and mildew. It was obvious they had recently reworked tye rooms, but on a tight budget as it was very superficial and shotty. It was so bad that I forfeited my $160 and didnt stay there and found another place nearby that was nicer.
- Don (6/5): - The pool was nice. After room cleaning our dirty cups were just left - and no new ones put out. Coffee machine was not cleaned and no new supplies left. Not end of the world, but pretty careless.
- Michael (4/5): - There's no "deep soak bathtub" as stated in their hotel info. The owner doesn't even know what that means. It's just nothing but a cheap road-side motel.
- Ruben (10/5): Great place! - It’s clean and the owners are the nicest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good place to visit
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It had infestation of cockroaches and while the sheets were fresh , the bed was dirty. I did not stay. Room 202
- Cristian (8/5): - Great place to rest, it has clean pools, friendly staff. Definitely you will have a good rest there.
- darrin (2/5): - Room was not clean. Tile had dirt stains, linens on bed were all dirty with hair and food crumbs. All the towels in the bathroom were heavily stained and most had hair on them. We had to ask for new sheets and mattress pad and pillow covers and we had to goto the local Walmart to buy blankets. We are very disappointed and will never stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean- friendly staff- manager drove us to the airport which was very much appreciated.
- Douglas (8/5): Great price/views and easy access to downtown. - Great Price for a weekend trip to Palm Springs. It’s an older hotel and the shower/bathtub was dingy and the AC was noisy but that is a minor inconvenience when you compare prices to other hotels. The views are fantastic and the pool area was nice. I would stay here again. Easy walk to downtown restaurants, bars and shopping.
- Visitor2018 (6/5): - The pool and hot tub area looked fantastic! I did not bring my bathing suit so did not go in, but sat beside the pool and enjoyed the view
- William R (8/5): Well done! - I would recommend it again for sure! Room 109 was perfectly spacious for our littler getaway!
- jon (10/5): - very clean and welcoming. the location was excellent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not music do ears - Checking in was great in, first night I struggled due to noise of AC. I mean, it’s louder than a jet engine. My room got cleaned once, I got clean towels and toiletries - o found myself tidying my room & buying favreeze at rite aid to keep it fresh. I did a wash & now have had a rash for 5 days as it’s torn my skin to pieces. The last two nights were hell due to noise upstairs and also it felt like someone was trying to break into my room from the back: I ended up barricaded in. Not great.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting motwl - The room was hot, nothing had been plugged in and ready for our arrival. I booked 2 days in adcance. Not even the clock with the correct time was pluffed in. The fab in the ceiling was literally falling down from the ceiling. The lights were Floods that belong outdoors so we had to sit in the dark. The bathroom light was on a timer and kept going off while we were trying to get some subtle light. Could not get the tv to work and the air conditioner was SO LOUD that we did not sleep all night. The pillows were like foam boards, so we used a rolled up towels to rest our head. The idea of this hotel was quaint but the owners, from another country, did not know or care about the cleanliness or amenities of their slum hotel. Very dirty floors! Stay far away from this one unless you want less than Motel 6.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was amazing. Looks better inside than outside !
- Jorge (2/5): EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!!! - Property is ridiculous!!! NEVER STAY HERE!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was good but the people working it are horryble really bad
- John (10/5): - Clean and comfortable with ironing board, coffee maker, fridge and microwave was pretty nice.
- rhonda (4/5): Not so great - Manager was nice, however ice machine didn't work, manager gave me about a dozen ice cubes from their personal freezer, wall trim was coming off the wall in our room. I only paid 81 bucks, but I've been in better rooms for less.
- Lucero (2/5): - Staff member gave us a room without AC knowing it was 113 degrees, we switched the room and gave us one with the fridge not working so our food got spoiled.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Always clean. Kind Staff. I always enjoy staying there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great stay as usual. Management is n8ce as always
