Many thanks to the staffs Maria Zhao and Sunny Wu. The hotel is next to a big shopping mall where you can get almost anything you need. There are a great number of small shops outside of the hotel. Overall, the hotel has all the amenities to meet your needs while on holiday or on a business trip.
- vrkung (8/5): Very good but - Grand hotel, both interior and exterior, excellent location, comfortable room and mostly good service attitude. The restaurant was an exception. It was operated in a nearly disastrous manner. There were a wide range of food but tasted mostly average. Staff did not work well together. Tables were not cleaned up efficiently. Wet stains were found on chairs and food on the floor. It is clearly a problem that the manager and the trainer of the catering team should be held responsible.
- 765dawnl (10/5): Excellent location - Felt like I was at home here as we stayed for 8 days. Great location and staff. Greeted by smiling staff when you entered the hotel. Comfy rooms. Need more coffee in the room though. Nice bath and shower room. Good quality toiletries and bath salts provided. We arranged for my son and his wife to stay here for their honeymoon night and the staff left fizzy fruit bowl petals in the bath and swan towels which was a nice touch. Thank you to you all including Fiona the lady on reception who tried so hard to find a hairdresser who would do hair at 6am for he wedding to the bird of paradise man too. We will definitely be back again. Xxx

Unfortunately most of the Staff do not understand English and it was very difficult to communicate with Room Service and the Spa through the Instant Service Button on the Room Phone. Overall an excellent stay except for the above problem

- BR-Apollo13 (6/5): Somewhat disappointing - Stayed three nights during CNY holiday, great location attached to a big shopping mall with a lot food options and a supermarket and some kids’ facilities. Good welcome from door staffs and friendly housekeeping team (although she forgot to replenish our bottle water). Good sized room with shower and bathtub, comfy bed and pillow. Room maintenance failures: I was shocked when I saw the chair in my room - a huge area of broken leather both on the seat and backrest! Looked horrible and filthy... similar damage on the desk pad too. Other broken stuffs in room include the bathroom door, leaking faucet, drawer... Towels in room was hard and old after 3 years (label says made in 2015). The major issue was the temperature in room, hotel doesn’t provide AC/fresh air in winter all our rooms were in 28-29 degree even we switched off the heating! Breakfast buffet looks like 2-star hotel, and replenishment was not efficient. Very limited selection too. Cheap thin cutlery it hurt my hands... Jack in breakfast restaurant and two other staffs (don’t know their names) at door welcome were outstanding, always with smile. Won’t stay again or recommend this hotel.

The hotel and room were clean and beautifully appointed. We certainly appreciated the policy of allowing complimentary drinking water beyond the minimal 2 bottles per room we had in other hotels. A very pleasant place for our time in Taiyuan

- jay (6/5): I wouldn't recommend it - The hotel was beautiful, but as it is a 5 star it was also a very pretentious place. Hotel room was nice and clean, cool shower, okay view. The one aspect that really dropped the rating was the fact that the Air conditioning didn't work and just heated the room. I notified the staff and when maintenance came they simply turned off the a/c and opened the window. Now if it wasn't china then I'd be fine, but the fact that the air quality was marked as hazardous I found that unacceptable. They then transferred us to another room where the a/c didn't work again. this is in February when the temperature isn't that hot. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be if it was hot outside.
- eyadd2015 (6/5): Needs improvement - There are many good things about this hotel: The gym is clean and modern; the breakfast staff generously let you take food to go; the location beside the Wanda plaza shopping center is convenient. There is however a very significant problem with this hotel: water. On the first morning my room had no hot water at all so I had to take a very uncomfortable cold shower. I told the staff and they promised someone would fix it. The second morning, I had hot water but I had to wait for a long time for the water to heat up. By the third morning, I had no water at all and couldn't shower, brush my teeth, or even wash my hands. Proving water to guests is the most basic task for a hotel. I can't recommend this hotel until they are able to do this.
- travellevret (8/5): High expectations left me a tad disappointed - First, most anyone will be fine with this hotel. It is an upscale hotel, and better than almost any other option in Taiyuan. It's not cheap, though, and so I am expecting perfection. The decor is upscale and pretty glitzy, but probably stays on this side of tacky. I'd prefer something a bit more understated, but there are a lot of appealing nods to traditional Chinese art and architecture, which I liked. I found a few, mostly minor, flaws: -The worst was a dirty spoon on the tea cups in my room. Yuck! -The Chinese food served for our meeting was pretty average, with dishes ranging from great to awful. Pretty surprising for this class hotel. -The breakfast buffet was good, though I have had better Western breakfasts in China. The pastries and donuts were a bit dry and uninspired. Good espresso/coffee, though it is made to order and you do have to ask the staff to bring it. They were happy to do so. -My bed wasn't hard, but not on par with other top hotels I've stayed in. -The controls in the sink and shower. What the hell?! -You have to actually insert the room card to activate the elevator to go to upper floors. That was a bit of a nuisance. Most places you can just swipe it. -Figuring out how to log into the wifi took a couple of calls to the front desk. (Due to being a conference booking. Would have been easy if we had booked direct.) It was also slow, as it is at most hotels. -The nice single-use slippers provided were quite small, and we were told that there was just the one size. My feet aren't even all that big. -Parking is tight, though who reading this is going to be driving?! Also, this is true of the other top hotels in Taiyuan. The staff will help work it out. Parking is also free. You have to have them swipe the parking card at the desk on your way out. And now for the good: -The staff. Wow. They are abundant, courteous, and quite a few speak English. They are well-trained and doing a good job. -Despite the annoying controls and the useless rain shower, the shower had great water pressure. Also, the stone floor in the shower and bathroom are amazingly non-slippery. Really nice. Overall the bathroom in the standard room was spacious and nice. Having a separate enclosure for the toilet was also a plus. -The provided soaps and such were very nice. -The standard room was clean, well-lit, nicely laid out and overall pleasant and functional. It was starting to show just a bit of wear. -The location next to the mall is enjoyable and offers a broad range of shops and restaurants. Also a Starbucks. It is also just across from the Catholic Cathedral. The area isn't very interesting otherwise. Overall, it is a pretty good place, but not quite perfect. The main question is whether or not it is worth the price on a given day.
- nathanm270 (10/5): True to my word - My wife and I stayed here in dec 2014. I said if I was ever in this part of China I would book again, here we are and we did. The hotel is great. Lots of great reviews on trip advisor including mine from '14. What I really appreciated this time was the staff. Had some trouble with A/C in first room. Staff was receptive and got us moved into a very comfortable room. Asked for water once and was in room on remainIng days. I apologize as I have forgotten his name but the gentleman from Israel; while talking in passing of things to see had a list made up and delivered to our room. Very nice and not expected. Most Americans reading WandaVista reviews are probably adopting. It was great. Starbucks just outside. European bakery steps away. The Wanda plaza mall located just out the front doors was excellent. Not necessarily a lot of western brands but nice. A number of children's shops on 2nd floor and Wanda department store had very large kids department on 4th I believe. Supermarket on basement level. Lots of restaurants on 3rd floor. Wanda was much less expensive than kempinksi; we had an executive deluxe room. Beautiful park very close. We walked to food street and fashion street. Market street right outside is an experience. Only downside they are constructing subway so one does need to pay attention when walking. Would stay again without reservation.

- JimLove61 (10/5): Do you want to be treated like a VIP? Then this is the hotel for you! - Taiyuan is a busy city with lots of noise and hustle and bustle. When you're looking for a place of sanctuary then the Wanda Vista hotel is the place to stay. The accommodation is high class, the variety and quality of food outstanding and the staff worthy of any royal palace in Europe. Our stay here has been fantastic. Located next to the high quality Wanda Plaza shopping centre you have every amenity you could wish for at hand. From 4D IMAX cinema, top quality restaurants and clothing retail outlets to a super market. I would highly recommend staying at the Wanda Vista hotel. You will be treated like royalty and experience a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
- wct38 (8/5): Lovely hotel in dusty city! - Stayed for 4 nights. Left to tour Wutaishan and came back for another night. That's how much we liked it. Location - right next to the Wanda Shopping Complex. On level 3 of the complex you'll find a whole floor of restaurants serving cuisines from many regions of China, fast food and western food. On the basement level was a supermarket that sells everything from a good selection of liquor to fresh fruits and vegetables. If you go at near closing time some of the fruits go for half price. Nearby there are banks, at least one pharmacy (no English spoken), fruit stalls and local eateries all around. There is a travel agency on the block next to the hotel. We booked private tours from them at reasonable rates. We wandered around looking for supper after 10 pm and saw a number of single ladies walking confidently. My conclusion, this must be a pretty safe place. Across from the back of the hotel were a couple of night food stalls in the open and friendly people were enjoying their meals. We felt safe walking about. For the first 4 nights we stayed at a club suite. Room was big, bathroom and toilet was decent size. There was even a guest toilet. Stronger water pressure would have been better. There was a choice of pillows and the bed was comfortable. Good sleep every night. Very quiet room. Our cleaner was very good. We asked for extra bottles of water one time only and after that she made sure we had extra bottles everyday. The phone help desk was very polite and efficient. Good English was spoken from front desk to phone operator. Buffet breakfast had good variety but don't go in late. First morning we went in late and most of the dishes were empty. The cook saw a few of us looking at the empty dishes and immediately fired up his stove to stir fry some food. We were expectantly happy only to find that he had fried up a wok of cabbage and filled up 2 chafing dishes with it. A third chafing dish had some noodles added to the same stirfried cabbage. We thought if this was brekkie we'd give it a miss! The next day we had booked a tour so we went for breakfast at 8.30. There was a good variety and no stirfried cabbage😄😄 All staff from front desk to concierge and restaurant servers were super polite and helpful. At the bar I ordered a glass of wine. It came not chilled. I commented to the wait staff. My glass was immediately replaced. The Club lounge was a bit of a disappointment though. Hardly anybody was there on the 2 evenings we were there. Perhaps because of that, the quality and variety of food served was not up to the standard expected of a five star hotel. The canapés served were exactly the same for the two days we was there. There was only 1 house red wine and 1 house white. There were the usual gin, vodka etc. Not much else to mix a decent cocktail. I had the opportunity to chat with the server there. She said most Chinese guests like the comfort of Club rooms but don't always visit the lounge. I don't blame them if that's the quality of food and wines served! By the third day even my group did not bother to go. On our return stay from Wutaishan, we took the normal room as we felt the Club lounge wasn't worth it. Special mention of Jason who drove us on our private tour. Helpful and a polite driver (if you have seen the drivers around Taiyuan you'll know what I mean). Made the long drive less tedious as he gave out information about the locals and locality.
- L6655VVleem (10/5): First class hotel - I stayed 3 non-consecutive nights while touring Shanxi province. This hotel is quite attractive. The lobby is grand and the décor throughout is lovely. The staff are very efficient and helpful. They went out of their way to assist me. The English standard was very good. The breakfast is extensive with something for every taste. In fact it's hard to think of something they don't have. The lobby bar was a wonderful place to relax with a drink at the end of a busy day. The bathroom was large with separate cubicle for shower and separate cubicle for toilet. Bathtub was large and there were all amenities. Check-in and check-out were quick and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there if I visit Taiyuan again. It was the best hotel I stayed in in Shanxi province.
- Qing (10/5): - the staff are very friendly and helpful. You can rent a luxury car with a reasonable price.the driver is a very nice guy.
- RDL2014 (8/5): Staying in Taiyuan on Business - This is a new modern hotel with adequate staff speaking English. The breakfast is excellent. The entire staff is courteous and eager to please. The location is not the best since it is North of downtown but is very close to the Taigang steel factory. It is also beside the Wanda Plaza shopping mall which has a considerable amount of International stores and restaurants.
- Ryan (10/5): nice hotel - very nice hotel beds were comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and rooms very clean. when i was confronted with a Chinese Speaking staff member and the realized i did not speak Chinese they found another staff member that could was very welcoming and i would def stay again.
- Rene GAO (10/5): new hotel good location - New hotel good location, a little difficult to take a taxi. The surrounding neigborhood is on the construction. Hope next time, the surrounding buildings will be finished.
- denis & robyn (10/5): A 5 star hotel worthy of the rating - The Wanda Vista was well located for our trip offered ideal facility. The staff proved very helpful given our lack of language skills . It was a soothing sanctuary!!
