Guest Reviews
- Rupert (10/5): Poli Urban By Afi Hotels - ideally located hotel for requirement. Greta staff friendly and helpful
- Michele (10/5): - Loved it.
- Liat (10/5): Great Place! - Great place to stay! Close to the beach, restaurants and shops. Walking distance to Yafo, Carmel Market, etc.
- Michel S. (10/5): - The hotel is located block and a half from the ocean. A great location hotel is very, very clean and New. The breakfast which is included in the rate is not to be believed highly recommend.
- Michelle (10/5): - Sweet little boutique hotel. Room was extremely comfortable- especially the bed! Staff was kind and attentive.
- Felipe (10/5): - This hotel is outstanding.
Everything is amazing. New. Perfect food. Decor is spectacular. Service bar none.
Thanks!
Felipe
- Rupert (8/5): Poli Urban By Afi Hotels - USed whilst working locally - very nice and helpful staff
- John (8/5): - The staff was helpful. David was great and very friendly. The room was small, but adequate and met our needs.
- Louanndreas (8/5): - A clean and comfortable hotel.
Our main issue is with the parking - there was none and we had to drive several blocks to find public parking.
The receptionist had no idea where we might find parking.
- Luiz (8/5): - 3 minutes walk form the beach, excellent Tel Aviv location with easy access to the main roads and attractions (including Carmel Market and Yaffo), staff friendly and pragmatic, room was ok. My only issue was that I had understood the Gilgal offered breakfast in the rooftop, one of the main reasons I had chosen it. Yet there was no breakfast and the rooftop was closed. Luckily there are many good options for breakfast in the neighbourhood.
- Scott (6/5): - Owned and operated by messianic Jews. Just fyi in case it matters to someone
- Nancy (4/5): - We have stayed at the Gilgal many times in the past and have always enjoyed the location, the friendly staff and convenience. Those things have not changed. However, what has become a problem was the cleanliness of the rooms, the shower leaked onto the floor in the bathroom and hall way in all three of the rooms that we stayed in. Also, the website states there is breakfast available and that is not true. They no longer have the breakfast and it is still advertised. We chose to stay at the Gilgal this visit due to the convenience of the breakfast. This is not good advertising for Expedia or the Gilgal. Many, including my husband and I, were disappointed.
- Madelyn (6/5): - One reason we chose this hotel was they advertised parking availability. There is none. The hotel is difficult to access by car in a congested neighborhood. Rooms are fine, but the AC cycled off every couple of hours, waking us up when the room got too warm. Overall a "so-so" stay.
- Morten (4/5): Find something better - Huge disappointment as it was not cleaned (did not get cleaning any of the three days we stayed there, one due to Sabbath which was ok), it needed renovation and was too expensive for the quality.
- Maame Yaa (10/5): - Excellent
- Jonathan (10/5): Tel Aviv - Staff - very helpful and obliging. After asking for one - had what was probably the quietest room in Tel Aviv (a very noisy city).
Room is basic but well maintained. Bathroom - very modern. Lobby - spacious and pleasant.
Hotel location - about 200 meters from the beach promenade.
- R (6/5): - Breakfast was supposed to be included. But we got nothing. Then they promised a free voucher for a local coffee shop for breakfast and then tried to charge us. Terrible. Too bad. The hotel was clean and comfortable and very close to beach and restaurant. Though. Because of COVID-19 there were maybe only half dozen rooms occupied so they probably could not afford to make breakfast. They should have told us and made it clear on Expedia web site
- Chris (10/5): Outstanding - Excellent, great staff and location
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasent. - For the price and location its great.
Two new tall buildings on the beach mean you only get a partial view of the sea from the hotel.
Staff are fine, no one made you feel warm, fuzzy, or special.
Breakfast was fine and Kosher, so no meat (bread, egg, veg, dairy and fish)
Nice that they offer free tea and coffee all day. They also have laundry facilities at a charge.
- Ida (6/5): - It is not fancy but it is adequate. Good location a few blocks from the beach, but the way they represented it - it seemed to be on the beach. Great breakfast.
We had one room reserved for 2 of us but it was small and not meant for people who don't share a bed, so we ended up with 2 rooms . They were helpful and gave us a fair rate.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast was very good, and the restaurant was very nice at the top of the building with a view of the area.
- yossi (10/5): Excelent - Great location, cozy and clean.
Kind staff.
Very good breakfast
- Nancy (10/5): - Great location . Great breakfast and really attentive staff.
- Joel (10/5): Great place near beach in Tel Aviv - 100% pleased. Free water bottles and snacks were a nice gesture. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place, fine libby, nice people, perfect breakfasr with beautiful view. Room was nice, a bit small maybe, but everything was there. Thanks!
- David (10/5): Excellent breakfast - The included breakfast was excellent! The taste was the best among many hotels we have stayed before. Location is good, close to beaches.
- Barry G (10/5): - We totally enjoyed our stay
The hotel is located near the beach, the lobby /library is excellent, the room is clean/comfortable/ well equipped, the breakfast was the best of all our Israel hotels and the service from reception specifically Victor was top notch.
We will highly recommend this hotel to others
- Verified traveler (6/5): Mediocre for the price - Nice breakfast, towel maybe washed by my rags for cleaning the floor look better than the towel on the hotel.
They could change them.....it is time they look jack.. but I new there were washed because they smell clean, but they look bad and and old.
Some personnel were friendly others were not. If you complained they will help.
- Miriam (8/5): - We were happy we stayed there, great location close to the beach, restaurants, and the carmel market.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - There wasn't a proper parking lot for a midsize vehicle
The afternoon front desk help was rude and demanding
The night shift personal was very far and helpful
Walking distance from the beach
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, no hassle breakfast and amenities, excellent staff and wifi
- Bernie (2/5): - Crappy little rooms with no real amenities. Could hardly move in the shower enclosure. The reception clerk was not very welcoming and with a horrible attitude; no willingness to be helpful and admittedly didn’t care. RUN from this hotel.
- John (10/5): - Great Hotel, but very weak WiFI. Problem for people who come for business trip.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect hotel - The lady at the front desk was wonderful and helpful. Everyone at the hotel was good. The best part is a great tour company picked me up at the hotel 45 min after breakfast starts. The free coffee & water was so nice. I will encourage everyone to stay at The Gilgal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location is amazing , I picked up all my tours at the hotel and staff are fantastic, ask for Jonathan he is great.
- Kay (10/5): - This was a great place to stay!! They have amazing staff and free coffee (actual coffee or espresso) and free afternoon cookies. Their breakfast is wonderful!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - staff extremely helpful, spoke several languages, could issue bus day passes or cards and charge up your card. walking distance from beach. Ben Harim Tours on sale with hotel pickup, good tour to Dead Sea
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location was great, very close to the beach. The hotel was ok, great staff. The bedroom was quite small for 3ppl but obviously most of the day we were not there. Breakfasts were served on the top floor of the hotel with a terrace which was really lovely. Good breakfast buffet options.
- Yonah (6/5): Disappointed - Way to expensive for what they provide.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excelent place to stay love it i am recomendi to all persons at the world
- Verified traveler (6/5): Misleading photo of breakfast on roof! Poor value, - Hotel is in a good location, however the rooms and lobby are tired and need an update. Check in was sub par (evening) but older gentleman at desk during the day was friendly. The picture of breakfast buffet is misleading, hardly a view, room nothing special and food was just ok. For the price I found the hotel to be a poor value. On the positive side, it was just two blocks from the beach and lot's of scooter rentals available.
- Howard (10/5): - The hotel was very welcomng with books and bright furniture in the foyer. The room was modern, comfortable and well-designed with plenty of hanging and storage space. It was within five minutes of the beach area and was in a quiet area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is in a perfect location, really close to the beach and a short walk to the market and some nice bars and restaurants. Breakfast is ok. We were disappointed as the rooftop breakfast room was closed when we were there. Room is comfortable and quiet as well.
- Julia (8/5): - The only thing wrong with this room is that they are so small you actually have nowhere to put your case without stepping on them. Other than that everything else about the hotel was excellent. Great breakfast and very friendly staff:
- Verified traveler (10/5): - location very close to everything, stuff and conditions
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excelent place, clean, good breakfast close to beach
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable. Small boutique hotel 1 block from beach. Very good breakfast included. Low cost secure covered parking 1 block away. Great location and excellent room rate. Highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property location, is near the beach, shops, restaurants, bus transportation, currency exchange, and many others food markets
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The breakfast was amazing, the location is perfect, and the staff were very helpful.
- AlexisGonzalez (10/5): - A a minute or twp from the beach with lots of amenities at a walking distance.
- Sarah (8/5): - Great central location close to beach good choice for breakfast room was clean and comfortable just needed a bit of updating.
- Liz (10/5): - Love this boutique style hotel. The breakfast is the best of anywhere and you don't fight the crowds of a larger hotel. Dining on the balcony overlooking the Mediterranean in the warm morning sun is the only way to start your journey in Israel. We won't stay anywhere else!
- Daryl (10/5): - Great location! Great vibe ! Close to beach, Carmel market
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, close to the beach but not expensive. Amazing breakfast buffet. Well-appointed room with welcome snack (dates) and great washroom.
- David (10/5): - The breakfast that is included has a wide variety of food and is an excellent feature of this hotel. The hotel is uniquely decorated with art and this helps it to stand out from other hotels of similar value. The rooms are clean, quiet and well maintained day by day. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The free coffee in the lobby is another great feature. I also appreciated the free use of the computer in the lobby to update my mail and visit some other sites on the internet. The location of the hotel makes it within walking distance of many great attractions. The local bus service is also very reasonable to help get around. The nearby beach is a remarkable free feature to explore and enjoy. The hotel lends free towels to use for the day. Lots of good restaurants nearby and plenty of local stores to explore. I would enjoy staying here if I came again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): close to beach and bars - supplied towels for you to go swimming at beach, tea, coffee available 24 hours
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel close to the beach - Lovely room. Functioning tv with various channels for different countries.
- JamesG (8/5): - The staff was amazing we had great service from the moment that we checked in to our departure. The front desk staff, featuring the upcoming star - David Thomas, was great.
- Arlene (2/5): Bad dirty smelly Hotel - Disgusting and dirty hotel with rude and abrupt owner and ill trained reception staff.
the rooms are dirty and smell like urine. I was not the only person that complained. i was in absolute shock after seeing the previous reviews as I was expecting so much more!
Do not stay here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellent location. It is not a fancy place, very simple, clean, good Air Conditioning and hot water. Friendly staff. Actually in Israel there are a lot of things to do during the day and night so you just need a nice place to rest or sleep with a reasonable budget since Tel aviv is Expensive.
- Ceris (10/5): Lovely family run hotel - Lovely hotel, run by a couple, clean, air conditioned and very close to the beach. Good breakfast selection and helpful staff. Would definitely use again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Breakfast is delicious. Great location and friendly staff. Easy walking to the beach and dizengof and the Carmel market. Garage off premises about a block away made loading and offloading the luggage difficult.
- Dorit (10/5): Very comfy place and great location - Hotel is on a quiet street two blocks from either the great beach or a Main Street Ben Yehuda with lots of cafes and shopping. Easy 29 min walk to Dizebgiff Center or Carmel Market and Shenkin shopping area. Lots of buses on Ben- Yehuda, too. Terrific breakfast on lovely rooftop with nice views. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was adequate size for two with nice amenities - coffee pot, frig, dates, halva and water upon arrival. Clean bathroom - only watch to close shower doors completely so no flooding. Lobby has nice lounging area, library, piano ,24-hr. coffee, tea and water bar: cold drinks, gifts to purchase. Special dinner theater available, too, on lower level. Quiet room in back, good AC. Highly recommend - reasonably priced.
- donnale (8/5): Great locationNo parking - This hotel is Centrally located and close to the beach.
Breakfast is a great way to start your day.
Rooms are cozy and clean but no view whatsoever.
There is NO parking which was a disaster. Trying to find parking inTLV is the worst experience in itself so for a hotel not to provide it is a big hassle. Just be aware.
- roseka (8/5): Good location hotel near the beach - We spent 7 nights at hotel gilgal and it was very enjoyable. Just two points to mention 1) hotel was advertised as having a restaurant with 15% per person per day discount - the restaurant was closed 2) the hotel opposite was very noisy at night with people shouting and talking loud till early hours and dogs barking this happened for 5 out of the 7 nights we were there!
- ELIYAHU (8/5): - Hey
Its not my first in Hotel Gilgal
I very like the hotel
But this time i needed to check in after around 3 hours !!!
The room missing blackout curtain
I needed to whait long times and call again the reception to know when she fixed him
The toilett not completly clean i do by my self in the bross
The remote missing cover and not work so correctly
The last sorry to complain but you have one receptionist all your asked to him she negative answer
She work evening the same day
Thanks
Zisman Eli
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderfully attentive staff, amazing breakfast, comfortable beds, very clean, and artful
- Benjamin (10/5): The Ideal Hotel - We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Gilgal. In every way it fulfilled all our requirements. The breakfasts were amazing, truly delicious, and went on until quite late in the morning. The Hotel was a stones throw from the beach and we were able to swim before breakfast without any great time pressure. The Hotel had an informality about it that meant we did not feel uncomfortable walking through the foyer in our swimming attire. It is also well placed for walking to the main streets of Tel Aviv and is within a half hours stroll to the old town of Jaffa. The room had a kettle and fridge so you could be self-sufficient, although complimentary tea/coffee was also available on the ground floor. Important facilities in the room worked well e.g. the shower and the safe. There is a cool and sheltered sitting area on the roof of the Hotel which offers great views of Tel Aviv and the sea. A comfortable breeze keeps the temperature down. We were in an economy room which although perfectly comfortable was a little tight for space so next time we stay we will probably opt for something a little larger. We would have no hesitation returning to the Hotel Gilgal in the future.
- MARIO (8/5): One block from the a great Beach in Tel Aviv - Great Location and good service. Fantastic Breakfast and great view from the breakfast area outside to the sea.
- Dojo (10/5): Great location, walking distance to the beach - loved the staff, good decent size rooms. the only things it the showers are a bit smaller but it's ok.
- John (10/5): - Room door key didn't work at first, had to replace it twice, but staff was very good about it. Cleaning staff was also excellent. Desk staff called a taxi for me to take me to the airport. That was excellent and made my day that much easier. I hope to come back later in the late fall for several days again. Thank you, John
- Team Coll (10/5): - The best hotel in town, great customer services at the reception desk, breakfast is spectacular, also coffee and tea all the time in the lobby make a great differnece when you get tjo the hotel tired and need to be spoiled, plus walking distance to the beach and restaurants rent a car and US embassy is a plus for this treasure in Tel Aviv, planning to come back next year, about size just perfect for a couple, if planning a family trip ask for a bigger room, they definitely will accommodate you, staff is awesome , already recommended to my friends that planning a trip to Israel in September. Definitely will come back to this little piece of the land of promise " Gilgal" in summary a highlight in our trip to Israel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Delicious breakfast - A lovely location, comfortable bed and room and awesome breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Greatly appreciate their service. Great breakfast!!
- Ieva (8/5): Location location location - Hotel is located very central and just minutes to the sea, great for those who are looking for a comfortable stay. Staff was very friendly and helped us out a lot to arrange our visit. The hotel itself is not in the best condition (which appears to be normal in Tel Aviv), but still supports comfortable and quiet stay. It had a lovely roof terrace and fresh breakfast with a view and plenty of food places around the corner for lunch and dinner.
- Anabel (6/5): Great staff! - The staff was very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in need of an update, specially the toilets, which were very small and dark but overall was a nice stay.
- Noel (10/5): Best hotel - I have one of the best experience friendless of the staff Victor, Jonathan...the art décor, the rooms, the libraries the spiritual side of Gilgal is a plus for me. The location of this hotel is incredible 3 minutes walk to the beach.
- Peter (8/5): Don't miss breakfast on the roof terrace! - Good value - especially the breakfast. Plumbing worked (no bath). Bed comfortable (fridge noisy - unplugged it).
Some rooms have terrible views of the building next door - but who cares if you're just staying one night?
Great location 100m from the beach.
- john (8/5): Good location close to beach. - Overall it is a very pleasant hotel. The bed was comfortable as was the climate controls. The staff was professional and personable. My TV had only 1 English channel coming through, which was disappointing, but I didn't go to Israel to watch TV. I didn't make use of it, but their are washers and dryers at the lower level with complimentary detergent if you need to wash your clothes.
- dave (10/5): Week in Tel Aviv - Not that impressed with Tel Aviv. Hotel good, breakfast was amazing. Jerusalem was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel in the city center - Rooms are in good condition, everyting is working, only in the WC I found hairs in the sink, on the walls near the sink and the toilet had a smell of p.....
Everything else was OK. Really good breakfast. Perfect pillows, comfortable beds.
- toshiaki (6/5): Not so good. - Not so good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This hotel was very satisfactory in all aspects ... location, cleanliness, good breakfast, accomodating staff. It was, in our mind, a bit improvement over another hotel that we'd stayed at earlier, which was located down the street. Would definately recommend this place to any friends or relatives should they be seeking convenient accomodations in Tel Aviv.
- Karen (8/5): Nice Hotel Near to the Beach and Attractions - I was there for nearly two weeks, starting the last week of October.2017. I had an economy room on the fourth floor, which was very clean and adequate for my needs. The hotel is located on a side street, in a part of town that is old, and much of it is either under construction or renovation. You need to really pay attention when walking in the area.
There are two convenience stores, a pharmacy, and places to exchange or purchase currency within a block radius. The Thai restaurant a few blocks away was very good as was the Landwer's Cafe on the promenade. There are buses and taxis close by, and many attractions either within walking distance or accessible by a short and inexpensive bus ride. The beaches and beautiful promenade is one block away, and there is a lot of construction taking place along the beachfront drive.
Breakfast is served on the top floor of the hotel, and has a good view of the beach.
- Christopher (10/5): Tops! - Great!
- Stephen (10/5): - The stand out feature wa the friendliness. The reception area was relaxed and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good on the rooftop terrace. Overall there was an atmosphere of peace and welcome.
- Felix (10/5): Clean and Close to everything - Spent 3 nights at this hotel and we're very satisfied with all the personnel we've encountered, the cleanliness and the location. From my reservation to the Tours we've booked, Shirley has been very responsive to all my emails and updates. The hotel has a huge lobby with ample sitting, coffee or espresso machine and a fridge where you can purchase sodas and beer. The rooms are immaculately cleaned daily with fresh towels. The breakfast on the 6th floor is always the highlight of my day with so many selections. The location is only a couple minutes from the beach/boardwalk and about a 30 minute walk to Old Jaffa Port. I'd like thank Shirley's team, Viktor, Jonathan and Max for making our stay a relaxed and happy one...

- graham (10/5): homely feel - Had a delightful 2 week stay here. Room/bed very comfortable. Breakfast plentiful and good choice. Staff polite and helpful particularly front of house staff
- Brian (8/5): Excellent location - Staff made you so welcome on arrival and quickly got you to be confident in the Hotel and surroundings. Breakfast excellent and available late to allow a lie in.
Roof terrace gave excellent view of the beach but would have benefitted with a bar for effect.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The rooms in this hotel are absurdly small. Certain members of the staff were decidedly rude.
- Derek (10/5): A great city centre hotel - We have just spent 6 nights at the Hotel Gilgal and thought it was a great hotel and very well located for exploring Tel Aviv. The rooms, lobby and breakfast room are of a high standard, and the staff were all extremely helpful and professional. Breakfasts on the 6th floor were full of fresh and varied food, and complimentary tea and coffee was available at all times in the hotel lobby,
- Sandra (8/5): I would return to this hotel. - Very helpful and friendly reception. Room very small not modern but lots of cabinet space. Bed comfortable. Internet is good. Location excellent for the price. Great roof top but unlike picture, it is now partially blocked by a new high rise. building. Nice free snack and great coffee machine in reception. For the price I would feel comfortable returning.
- Justin (8/5): Great location and staff, but needs maintainence - Staff are extremely helpful and polite. Great location, great breakfast, great views, but the hotel needs some maintainence. The wifi didn't work in my room (which the staff apologized for by giving me a fruit basket and bottle of wine) and the drainage pipe for all the bathrooms and showers went through by bathroom, so it was loudly and annoyingly apparent whenever someone in another room would use the restroom or shower. There were some other minor issues with the room that reduce comfort, but if you're willing to tolerate them, the location and price can't be beat.
- JOHN (6/5): Waiting in Tel Aviv - Got there early. Sea clerk sai we could get in the room in 45 minutes, so we waited in the lobby. More than 2 hours later we got in our room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Beautiful lobby! - Fabulous breakfast buffet, very close to beach, and walking distance to the Shuk!
- Snezana (10/5): Gilgal hotel have great location and lovely views - Nice hotel for reasonable price. I will choose again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel - Close to the beach. Staff was very helpful. Good breakfast on a terrace with a sea view. Had really good time there!
- Ron (8/5): Gilgal is awesome! - Great little hotel; pretty, comfortable & within walking distance to the beach. Breakfast is amazing! Delicious & served on top of the hotel with nice views. the staff was very helpful & friendly. Would stay again for sure!
- londoner (8/5): Nice friendly hotel - Got to hotel early and they found me a room hours before check in. Staff great. Free coffee and tea and internet in lobby all day. Small but tasty clean breakfast. Try the eggs. Beach one block away. Most places within walking distance. Value for money
- imdeelightful (8/5): Great location hotel - Great location - easy walk to beach or shok. Staff was always willing to help. Clean rooms. Dinner was not being served the 3 days I was there so I am not able to rate the dinners. Breakfast was not the best I had in the different Israeli hotels I have stayed but it was plentiful. Definitely will book again when I plan to stay in Tel Aviv
