Guest Reviews
- Ian (8/5): - Property was fine. Perhaps greater publicity as to the TV room downstairs as we only found this on our departure. Nice overall thanks, Ian
- Cindy (6/5): - The room was smaller than expected.
- Rollie (10/5): - We had a nice stay here. Loved Westport. Easy to walk downtown from the location. Many great options for restaurants and pubs. Room was too hot with no way to control the heat, but were able open the windows to make it comfortable.
- Janice (6/5): - Lovely, comfortable lodge. Offering daily change of towels, soaps and housekeeping. Instant-coffee, tea and biscuits along with a kettle were provided in the room.
This lodge was not in a convenient location if you wanted an easy walk to shops and restaurants/ pubs.
After hiking all day, we were a bit weary to walk the 15-20 min into town and back for an evening meal.
Breakfast is not provided so one would have to walk or drive into town. There were no facilities to make your own. A 15-20 min walk would normally not be an issue for us but our time was short.
- S (6/5): Check in - Lock box check in, emailed instructions on morning of stay, instructions stated room on first floor, however the room was on ground floor
- Pam (4/5): Good reviews and rating are misleading. - This room was grossly overpriced and the previous good reviews were extremely misleading. There was no breakfast which we were informed about by email once we had already confirmed and paid. The key was in a key safe so we never met the supposedly wonderful and helpful hosts. The room was clean and the beds not uncomfortable but the shower was terrible. A tiny cubicle (approximately 70 cm square internally) and very difficult to control the water temperature. Noticed too late that the rave reviews were all from 2023 or earlier. No reviews at all in 2024! These old reviews should be removed from the website as they do not apply to what is currently on offer.
- brian (8/5): - Comfortable bed and bedding.
- Morgan (10/5): - Great place, comfortable and quiet, gracious host, fantastic location in one of the best towns in Ireland
- JACK (4/5): Confused management - We reserved a room and we were emailed the room # and code to get in front door. When we arrived at 8pm the room was given away even though we had a reservation and had paid and a room code etc. then they found us a different room upstairs that was difficult to lock. The room was fine but quite noisy and small. No breakfast. We were there two nights.
- Gretta (8/5): - Enjoyed the location very much, easy 15 minute walk into Westport. Our room was clean and stocked with coffee and tea. Patrice provided us some excellent dining suggestions.
Our only issue is the plumbing in the bathroom. The toilet was tricky, the hot and cold taps on the sink were reversed and the shower was slow draining.
Having said that we would stay again with the understanding that we did not book a 4 star B&B, nor did we pay the price for one.
Overall good value for the money.
- Laurie (10/5): - Hosts were amazing
- Brian (10/5): - The Woodside was a very quiet, peaceful place to spend our night in Westport. The owners were very friendly and affected suggestions for the area. The rooms were clean and well appointed, although there was a crack in the bathtub that was a bit disconcerting. The breakfast was top notch and checkout was a breeze. I would definitely recommend this site for a relaxing getaway in Westport.
- Susan (10/5): - My hosts were friendly; kept a clean and comfortable guesthouse; served a good, sustaining breakfast. My room had a good bed and satisfying shower. They were flexible with breakfast time to meet the needs of my tour driver. Having no evening transportation other than my feet, I found it to be a bit far out of town, but it is a straight shot from the main business area and ultimately walkable. I would recommend this guesthouse.
- Linda (10/5): - Quaint B&B!! Phenomenal hosts and food was awesome!!! Very gracious hosts!! Loved our stay here!!! Would definitely recommend!!!
- Martyn (8/5): Westport stay - Enjoyable stay here, with fabulous breakfasts each day. Cosy breakfast room, allowing everyone to chat to one another with ease.
Westport is a fun town to stay / visit. Plenty of shops alongside pubs and bars with great atmospheres.
- Robyn (8/5): - An easy place to stay in Westport
- nancy (10/5): - Helen and Patrice are lovely hosts. So many wonderful choices at breakfast. We haven’t seen a breakfast menu like this anywhere else. Please don’t miss out on Helen’s delicious scones and Patrice’s omelettes.
- Sandra (10/5): - You must have Patrices’ omelette for breakfast. Absolutely superb! We would recommend this accommodation to family and friends.
- Mr Andrew (10/5): - We stayed at this lovely bed and breakfast and everything was very good. From the moment we arrived there was a friendly welcome and the breakfasts were fantastic with plenty of choice. Home made scones were on offer every morning!
- Heather (8/5): - Property was tucked away. So cute and clean. Only drawback was the water pressure was not great. Beds however were very comfy
- Susanne (6/5): - Friendly, good breakfast but property was out dated and bed was hard.
- Sheila (10/5): - The hosts were generous with their time and breakfasts (great homemade scones)! We loved staying for three nights in such a clean, quiet place run by patient, helpful, down-to-earth people.
- Gordon (10/5): Lovely place - Delightful B&B with fantastic breakfast
- Kevin (10/5): Great breakfast and close to old town. - Bed was comfy and room was nice. Very friendly and great breakfast. Can walk to town. Very convenient.
- Marlene (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay very much -- the setting is quiet, beautiful, calming. Our room was spacious, clean, elegantly furnished. Breakfast was delicious, attractively presented. Highly recommended.
.
- Ryan (2/5): Wiser eating grass - This b and b is run by a husband and wife. The wife is nice the husband isnt very bright. I paid in full when i arrived. But i had to leave early due to a allergy i had. I did not expect any money back as it was me leaving early. I explained to the husband my situation. bare in mind it was him that took my payment in the morning. Then he had the cheek to charge me full payment again there is wiser eating grass. I was told by the nice lady when i rang that i was getting a refund but still no money in my account
- Anthony (10/5): - We loved our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer! We were met with a friendly face and check in was super easy. The room was spacious and comfortable. But the best part of the stay was the breakfast! Everything freshly cooked and delicious. Homemade buttery scones were out of this world. Everyone went out of their way to take care of us. We will be back!
- John (10/5): - Wonderful place! The owners couldn’t be more accommodating. Delicious home cooked breakfast and very close to town. We stayed in their family room with 2 kids, it was perfect!
- Peter (10/5): Westport Stay - I was only at Woodside for one night, but was thoroughly delighted with my stay. The lodge is just a 10 minute walk into the town of Westport - which is an absolutely beautiful small town on Ireland's West Coast.
The room and bed were extremely comfortable and the breakfast that Patrice and Helen prepared was absolutely fantastic - great hospitality! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this a landing spot in Westport.
- Eveline (10/5): - Great location and excellent room. The beds was lovely and the hosts were great
- James (10/5): - The Woodside is a chaming and welcoming place, a 10 minute walk from downtown Westport. Our accomodation was a family room for four and everyone was comfortable. We had a wonderful breakfast and conversation with our hosts.
- Steve (10/5): - A gorgeous house, and nice comfortable and clean room. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and there was a good tasty breakfast. The walk to town is about 15mins at a leisurely pace. Thanks Patrice and Helen for keeping our things safe while we enjoyed a day out before leaving.
- Norman (10/5): - The wonderful breakfast and family thoughtfulness
- Alix (10/5): - Wonderful breakfast and great location from town.
- Skye (10/5): - Owners were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was magnificent!
- Peter (10/5): Fantastic place and location - The place was perfectly located and the owners could not have been more friendly, the breakfast was fantastic and my children loved their dog.
- John (10/5): Convenient & clean - Near enough to the town centre to explore on foot (about 10 mins-ish) which is useful as it's paid parking on the streets, even in the local Supervalue. I found it to be simple but spotless. My bed was super comfy. Breakfast was tasty, just don't have the full Irish if you're planning to do Croagh Patrick. Yes, I enjoyed my short stay here. I'd happily stay again.
- Eamon (10/5): Top B&B - Great hosts, lovely comfortable room and excellent breakfast in the morning. 2 minute drive to town centre. Definitely recommend a stay here.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Wonderful westport. -
Relaxed. Very comfortable an excellent breakfast with relaxed hosts.
Patrice and helen enjoy their work and it shows.
Hot Fresh scones and fresh fruit with yogyurt were a real treat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms was big and comfortable to walk around.
Location was ideal, just few minutes walk to the centre.
- Brendan (10/5): - Friendly.atmosphere - fantastic breakfast
- John (10/5): - An absolute pleasure to stay here. Fab pillows and quilt on bed. Even with Covid restrictions clean towels daily. Helen could not have done more- even gave us sticks to climb cr. Pat. Breakfast - utterly amazing- wish i was going back this weekend. Helen & Patrice thank you for making our weekend so special. John & Caroline Limerick-
- david (8/5): Lovely B&B - Lovely B&B in great location. Great breakfast to help you along the greenway or up Croagh Patrick.
- Ralph (10/5): - This was a great property in a quiet location. The hosts were great the the hot breakfast was a great way to start the day
- Molly (10/5): Stay at Woodside - You'll be happy you did! - This was my second time staying at Woodside Lodge. It was at least 10 years between my two stays, and the place is still as charming and comfortable as it was then! The owners are lovely and helpful. Breakfasts were delicious. Rooms were comfortable. Our only minor complaint was the headboard in the room we stayed in was either loose or something and any time one of us turned over it would bang the wall, so it was a bit noisy during the night. Other than that, we would definitely book here again for our next trip. Recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Woodside was the perfect place for visiting the Westport area. Comfortable room, terrific breakfast and friendly owners. Would highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to town and very clean. Helen was very welcoming.
- Julie (6/5): - It was not a very welcoming place. Honestly we were glad to move on to our next location.
- bernadette (6/5): Stay. - My stay was short.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hard to find the street, but once there everything about it was fabulous. We recommend it most highly!
- Rich (10/5): Nice place to stay in Westport - Solid B&B with nice hosts. You're not in the center of town, but Westport is hectic for a small town, so being just outside town is nice.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Detail to attention. Excellent prompt service. Breaking amazing.
- marcella (2/5): B&B - Old house need to be modernised bathroom old style bedroom hot no air conditioning. Wooden windows only open on top. Breakfast room small tables to close no display area for cereals . Fruit on display still in cartons no effort made tables to small no room for bread on table. Wouldn't want to be to big sitting in this breakfast area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Helen was excellent, helpful and friendly. Loved the location. The room was smaller than I had thought it would be. The town of Westport is beautiful. The breakfast was made to order and delicious.
- Elizabeth (6/5): - I was a little dissapointed that the meal was in the bar as opposed to the restaurant as it was a special anniversary and i got dressed up for the occasion and felt a little cheated. It was still a beautiful hotel anx would highly recommend. The staff were unbelievable
- Randall (10/5): - A very nice B & B located just outside of town. Owner and his wife were very nice and made our stay exceptional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Patrice & Helen were excellent hosts & accommodated us after Augusta Lodge cancelled our reservations after having them booked for 2 months. Their place is clean, has everything you need, provides a fabulous breakfast - the smoked salmon eggs are spectacular & has lovely gardens.
We are 4 Canadian teachers in our 50s & shared the “family” room. It was perfect. We walked into town, had dinner & later drinks at the pub & walked back. Patrice gave us excellent advice on where to go! Highly recommend them!
- Kae (10/5): - The room was spacious and clean. Plenty of parking. The hosts were helpful and hospitable. The breakfasts were beautiful and delicious. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location.friendly family run business.Would stay again.
- Pauline (10/5): - We had a lovely stay. My husband was taking part in a race and had a very early start (5am)! He was able to use the kitchen for that much needed nourishment, Patrice and Helen left out everything for him. So very accomadating and friendly.
- David (10/5): Perfect. - This is a perfect B&B. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Quiet. Lovely, clean and spacious rooms. I would venture to say that the breakfast here is the best you will ever have - absolutely fabulous. We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Too noisy; not only could I hear man in next room urinating, could also hear him farting(!)
Loud party arrived 3AM, continued for next hour. Owner explained he’s unaware of such noises because his residence is not attached.
Only several channels worked in room. No chair.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good bedroom, braekfast. The owners were cety symptic and show us some typic point to sea around newport.
- HELEN (10/5): - Everything was great. No complaints. The room was spotless
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was nice. It’s rated as a four star facility, but the bed and bedding wasn’t four star. The shower was a bit odd and water got all over the floor. The toilet ran forever. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t four star
- Sandra (10/5): Beautiful country escape - Extremely pleasant and comfortable
- Hugh (10/5): Very friendly.... - Warm welcome - nothing was too much trouble
- frances (10/5): - Great location. Short stroll to town. Helen and Patrice friendly and helpful. Great break.
- Henri (8/5): Friendly - The owner's recommendations for for restaurant were spot on.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The breakfast was very good, and the location was fine (good neighborhood, walking distance from the town center). While our room was clean and comfortable, it needed some basic repairs - one of the bathroom sink faucet handles was broken (inoperable and loose) and on the chest of drawers and nightstand some of the drawer pull handles were broken or missing. Not terrible, but disappointing given what they charged.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Darling guesthouse out of the town center area. Quite a bit of street traffic noise in front bedrooms, but overall charming accommodations. Great breakfast & wonderful dinner recommendations.
- Lynn (2/5): Awful experience, owner now stalking pregnant woma - We waited 40 mins to checkin, even though we could clearly hear people in the back, they did not respond to the bell or knocking. Then the owner was agitated during the brief checkin. There were problems with the room: it was exceptionally hot, far hotter than outside, with very limited ventilation. There had been no attempt to cool the room before our arrival e.g. leaving doors and windows open (as we saw in every other B&B that week). Also despite booking a double bed, the room had 2 single beds shoved together. I rang the bell in the lobby about 9pm to ask the owner about cooling the room as I am pregnant and worried about the baby (it's important to not allow yourself to get too hot during pregnancy). He immediately became angry, repeating 'what do you expect, it's the weather', I politely pointed out that the other rooms in the house including shared sitting room were much, much cooler and he after shouting again about the weather and walked off. My husband came down at the sound of shouting, but the owner had taken the bell away. For 10 mins no one responded to us calling for assistance. Then we contacted Hotels.com directly. It seems the owner only responded to their calls once (to say he would do nothing to help) before becoming non-responsive. I almost passed out, so my husband found another b&B, but we had to drive 20mins, it was very difficult. The owner has since telephoned my mobile 19 times, including 3 times between 1am and 2am, even though he knows I'm pregnan
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location about a 15 minute walk from town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is run by a lovely couple, who serve up an amazing breakfast! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent B&B 10 minute walk to Westport - Lovely comfortable B&B in Westport, a lovely town in western Ireland. Rooms were very comfortable and breakfasts were excellent. Helen was a lovely host.
- Stephen (10/5): Good Balue in Westport. - A very friendly place to stay and an easy 10 minute walk into town, good breakfasts and helpful hosts - French and English spoken. Shower room fittings have seen better days but ok. Comfortable bed.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice bed and breakfast in Westport - Our family of four stayed one night. Owners were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Had a hard time adjusting hot water in the evening, however in the morning there was plenty of hot water for our family. Mattresses seemed somewhat flat.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Will not recommend to friends - Was not impressed with this place .. It felt cheap and over priced... Breakfast was ok ..
- Delia (10/5): Convenient and comfortable - Lovely old house in a quiet area. Lovely gardens, convenient to town and tourist route. Rooms are basic but clean and plenty of towels and clean linen.
