Very convenient location...short drive (not walkable) to Star for dinner. Quiet and not stuffy. No kids at the pool. Delicious breakfast in the morning. Multiple spots to enjoy a glass of wine together. Highly recommend.

The staff were warm and welcoming, the pool/jacuzzi was beautiful, the bed was super comfy and our room came with snacks (chips, crackers, nuts). We didn’t realize that the warm, made-to-order breakfast was only available on the weekends. Weekdays provide yogurt, fruit and pastries only. The sliding door in the bathroom does not provide complete privacy from the bedroom. If you are sensitive to having your privacy when using the bathroom, you may not feel too comfortable.

- Jeffrey (7/5): Things have changed. - Very good pool and everything was very clean. This is the cautionary tale of you can not go back. We stayed at Olea two years ago and it was delightful and charming. It turns out that the property has changed hands and it hasn't been for the better. On our former visit we experienced wonderful breakfasts every morning with healthy and inventive food. Now there are cartons of yogurt and granola with fresh fruit. On the weekends, a local bakery provides a more substantial breakfast. Good, but not the wonderful breakfasts that we had anticipated. We booked thru Booking and was supposed to get a King room with balcony. Instead we got a King room with a patio under the kitchen and dining area with lots of noise (moving furniture). When we asked about the room that we thought we were getting, the receptionist told us that all the other rooms were taken and we should have made our reservation thru the hotel.

Also, liked the wine generosity--it was there when you checked in, you could take it to the pool (in plastic, of course). Snacks in the room were a nice addition, too.

In the morning, ate the complimentary breakfast with a mimosa! Awesome service, and beautiful property. Super clean room too. Seems to be a lot of couples staying there, and the hotel is very quiet- for those looking for that type of getaway. We stayed there over the holiday weekend, and although they said it was fully booked, it felt like we had the place to ourselves pretty much! Only thing I'd note is - we went to the Glen Ellen Star for dinner and walked there. The walk back was scary at night.. cars going really fast with no sidewalk and no street lights. But it's only a 5 min walk (0.3miles).

The breakfast the best I’ve had in any hotel or B&B. The grounds were really lovely. The one thing that was bothersome was the noise from the unit upstairs. When we stay again we will ask for top floor unit. The noise was understandable the first few nights because the hotel was completely booked. when we stayed on and the hotel was almost empty, it was disappointing that the room directly above us was booked when there were obviously other choices.

- Halfdecaf (10/5): Always Beautiful - Never Disappoints! - Whenever we plan weekend getaways to the Napa Valley area we stay at Olea. It’s quiet, exquisitely appointed, and welcoming. It has two charging stations - one of each type - which is nice. We’ve stayed in every type of room/cottage, and you cannot go wrong. They are fresh, offer quality amenities, have comfy beds and linens and I love the touch of shutters on the windows instead of shades. Food: muah! Incredible. They have recently shifted their menu from full breakfasts but what they offer is plentiful and delicious. Because Olea is off the main drag of wineries it has an elegant retreat feel: the setting is natural, the view of the mountains is gorgeous, the rooms are quiet, and it doesn’t feel at all like a typical hotel. But you know what it’s close to? The Glen Ellen Star!! A causal-vibed Michelin star restaurant that is amazing. It’s right down the street and worth a stay at Olea just for that.

- Nolan (2/5): This was a terrible birthday celebration. - I will preface this negative review with a note that we were reimbursed for one of the two nights' stay. 1. We suffered through 2 nights of heat in the room of over 80 degrees. We could not turn it off even though we tried. We complained after the first night and we were offered to move rooms - but we did not want to take the time to do so and miss out on our dinner plans. We turned off the heat - or so we thought. The second night was no better. Our room had no windows that opened, so that was not an option. We were on the street, so could not leave the door open. This was unbearable. 2 - There was no happy hour the second day, as the person at the desk had to leave early. No great loss though. 3. Breakfast was not a full meal.....the "buffet" had minimal pastries, no fruit, yogurt, not much else. We were given a tray to take our food to our room...there did not appear to be anywhere to sit. 4. The hot tub and pool were not available.. 5. We were still charged the full "resort fee." We were not sure why??? We did have access to the fire pit. 6. Our room was under the "office, reception, and breakfast area. You could hear heavy footsteps above. 7. The relatively new renovation/decoration was not at all user friendly. Not enough lighting and not enough place in the bathroom for toiletries.
- Daniel (9/5): Perfect location to explore Sonoma/Napa. - It was quaint, clean, off the beaten path, and no children! The staff were all very friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Weekend breakfast was perfect for filling up before a long day of exploring. It’s not very sound proof. If you are noise adverse, I recommend staying on the second floor, so you don’t have to listen to walkers above you.

The hotel has changed management and sadly there are no more 3-course gourmet breakfasts available, which was one big draw to the locale. The hotel room we stayed at is starting to show its age (e.g. malfunctioning power outlets, scraped painting, etc.). Overall is still good but not as spectacular as it used to be.

- 347AS (10/5): Perfect getaway! - Our one night stay at the Olea Hotel in Glen Ellen was outstanding! Catherine was a gracious and generous host - accommodating all our requests (and more!) when we decided to take a last minute trip from San Francisco to Sonoma for some much needed R&R. Our (upgraded) King Hillside room - #16 - was gorgeous, with a fireplace, balcony, vaulted ceilings, and luxury bathroom with heated floors. We delighted in the snacks provided and the lovely view of the hills. My husband and I also indulged in two spa treatments - the Swedish massage for him and the Cocoa Butter body scrub and wrap for me. My husband said the massage was one of the best he'd ever had; and my scrub, massage, and wrap was decadent and provided by Catherine - an expert masseuse. We also enjoyed the hot tub for a night time soak, and the song of the frogs in the surrounding hillsides was a beautiful and soothing accompaniment. The grounds are lovely, with lots of tucked away spots to sit and enjoy the ambiance. I really can't say enough about how perfect our time at the Olea Hotel was - we will surely be back and tell our friends!
- Brent (8/5): A clean and friendly boutique hotel. - Our cottage sweet was very nice, clean, and spacious. Looks fairly new and the heated bathroom floor was pleasing. I want a heated floor in my house now. Walls are thin and noise can be heard especially the busy roadway and neighboring houses. This small hotel in located within a neighborhood with residential homes surrounding. I’m not sure if it was on the hotel property or next door but at 8am we were awoken to construction sounds of hammering for about 5 minutes. Driveway onto the street is a bit sketchy also.

- jocelyn (10/5): A lovely getaway in Glen Ellen - We had a lovely one night stay in room #11 underneath the lobby and dining room. The staff were very welcoming and professional. Lots of treats to eat and drink. They provided a sweet welcome gift for our anniversary and let us check in early. The only criticism I have is the pillows were too bulky and there was a loud motor running at night that was located in between our room and the cottages near the pool. It's best to keep your windows at night.

- Mbr29 (8/5): Very good - Charming boutique hotel, very centrally located. The snacks available all day in the lobby were a nice touch. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and very well made and presented. The drain in the shower didn't work properly so you ended up in an ankle deep pool of dirty soapy water. The bathroom has no counter space of shelves to put toiletries on.

Nestled hillside and quiet except for a herd of deer making the evening walk through the backyard! Awesome. Easy access to Glen Ellen and all the sites in and around Sonoma city and county. We didn’t get to sample the all day free wine and very nice snacks, outside seating and fire pit, hot tub, or pool!!! We needed at least another day or two.

- Lpalmor (10/5): Exceptional - The perfect spot for anyone who needs a quick getaway to rest and recharge. I stayed for one night solo. The staff were incredible, so kind and understanding. I was thrilled to have a glass of wine upon checking in, and I enjoyed the peaceful hot tub and pool area. The property is spotless, idyllic, and well maintained. I ate my dinner around sunset under the beautiful trees on the back patio. The hotel breakfast was delicious and nourishing (mini frittatas with asparagus, dill, salmon, and goat cheese), and after checking out I enjoyed a hike around nearby Jack London State Park. I can’t wait to come back for another peaceful weekend.

Check in is very strict after 3:30PM which makes the stay very short when you have to checkout at 10AM. At checking the person made a comment about us (a same sex married couple) booking a room with one bed that made us uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Spacious Hillside Stay with wonderful staff - Nestled on the Sonoma hillside with new and clean finishes. Nice room size and wonderful service. We were delighted to have such a nice option that accommodated a large pup. Breakfast was prepared to order and the chef openly prepared a plant based breakfast that was delicious! The outdoor common areas and firepit are peaceful and well kept.

- Cynthia (10/5): - I was going to a concert in Napa, I was not ready for this delicious find of a property. I’m stunned at the gorgeousness of the rooms, the cleanliness, the amazing breakfast. Being welcomed with wine at the reception desk but every morning having coffee and pastries included in the price of the stay. The pool was cozy and quiet. There was room to charge my EV. The beds were soft and sturdy, even the air had a certain something about. My only downside, my only complaint is that I did not stay here longer! From check in to check out seemlessly easy, welcoming and did I mention the breakfast….

We also appreciated the bottle of water in the room and bottles of wine at the front desk. We arrived with bottles of water (and wine) and wish we had not.

- geoffreyh2022 (10/5): So relaxing ... - We had such a relaxing stay at Olea for the second half of our California vacation. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and modern. Excellent bed and bathroom. Breakfast was top notch gourmet fare in a relaxed environment. The courtyard in the back has several pretty seating areas for reading and resting between events. The little town of Glen Ellen is quiet and centrally located. There are excellent restaurants and countless wineries within a short distance. The staff is so friendly and helpful. And as a complimentary treat, they had both kinds of drinks in the lobby at all times: coffee & wine. We will be back.

- TruthReviews4 (10/5): Wonderful Glen Ellen Hotel - Glen Ellen is our favorite place to stay in Sonoma area due to the local restaurants, market and Saloon, and our nights spent at Olea Hotel only made it that much more enjoyable! The rooms are clean and comfortable with added amenities like the in-room snacks, and the hot tub and afternoon wine made it more like a relaxing resort. However, the breakfasts included were simply amazing and one of our favorite parts - local fresh ingredients with such flavor! We will definitely be coming back here when we visit Glen Ellen again!

The staff friendliness and property did stand out as positives. I was disappointed by a very long wait for the breakfast one morning, waiting over one hour for two courses that were very small in quantity. I also did not like the sounds of traffic from the road; the hotel obviously cannot control it but I had expected the property to be more relaxing and noticed the sounds of cars driving by while in my room as well as at the pool area which is very close to the road. Overall, I would recommend this property but it was a bit disappointing to me for the price point.
