• Nicola Mills (4/5): Could do with some TLC - Location is a nice quiet area. Rooms were a lovely size. No staff to greet you on arrival. There was a number you had to contact for them to tell you where your room key was. The pub was shut for refurbishment and wasn't aware as a guess, which i think is poor, considering we book in advance The room wasn't very clean, so I had to clean the bath myself before using the facilities. Some of the lights were not working. The rooms could do we some work.

• Wayne (4/5): Give it a miss if you can - Paper thin walls. could hear the couple and dogs in the adjacent room all evening until late. All a bit cheapo american motel feel about it. Any bed in a storm so this had to do. Youve gotta wonder why it was the only place with availability on Hotels.com in the whole of east yorkshire. Big clue huh!

• Tracey (8/5): Great place for a short break away - The food was really good (a little too much for me) but really tasty and fantastic value for money. Staff were really friendly and helpful. there were a few thing not working in the room such as lights and we were unable to find a remote control for the TV in the bedroom so we couldn't use it (not able to find a member of staff to help as the pub was closed). Unable to find a spare blanket as the room was quite cold and not sure how to use the heating.

• David (1/5): Dissappointing, so much so we left - Leaving Middle of no where, rooms look dated. Bathroom mould on tiles rotting window frames. No security' locks on windows beds felt very unstable wobbled as though they felt like they were likely to snap. The bar closed at 845pm on a Saturday and as we arrived late that gave us no option to eat there. We just left the site, posted the keys in the reciption and booked into a b&b in Beverley 20mins down the road. Waste of £80

• Joy (6/5): Lovely area with country walks - The stay was 50/50. Good-comfortable bed with nice clean bed linen and towels . Bath and toilet clean. Plenty of milk and coffee sachets. Walls recently painted. Bad-curtain hanging off curtain rail. I took the rail off and hung the curtain up properly. Toilet seat broken. No soap. Soap dispenser over bath not working. Stains on carpet. No breakfast on site. Information on website a bit misleading. We thought it was a hotel booking. However the accommodation was in a basic chalet, one of 11 joined together.

• DEJohnson (6/5): Mediocre at best - Mediocre at best. Went here for Sunday lunch today and everything on the plate (apart from the gravy) was stone cold. It must have been sat for ages. The Yorkshire pudding was like an ice hockey puck, the roast potatoes were pathetic. Really disappointed for £16 a head.

• Paul (4/5): for this money you can do a lot better in the area - breakfast was only available at the garden centre which opens at 10;30 on a sunday the room needs you out by 10:00 so if you want a breakfast you have to sit in your car for half an hour, think it needs a little thought the room was very tired looking and the bathroom did not have any soap to wash hands so take some with you

• Mick (2/5): Poor! - Bed hasn’t been changed from the last guest! The bed has visible signs on the right hand side of being slept in and the left was stained, the main building was closed up when I noticed once I went to go to bed. I’ve had to spend the night on top of the duvet.

• stoney1979m (4/5): Not the best stay - If you are looking to stay somewhere and you need to be online this is not the place for you, from the second you pull into the carpark until you leave you are in a signal dead spot, completely offline and cutting off from the world, they do however have completely WiFi but logging on and staying online is a constant battle between you, the other guests, the people in the pub and anyone else in the carpark, Talking of carpark the room are spread in a L shape around it so you can hear all the noise of a put carpark 1 meter from your head all night, so cars, motorbikes, drunks etc etc you hear it all. The rooms are dated and a little run down well overdue a lick of paint and a list of needed repair jobs around the bathroom, The rooms are cleaned to a high standard with clean sheets and towels on arrival but not cleaned during your stay witch isn't really a problem tbh. But the lack of constant Internet is the deal breaker for me that and hearing every word of next doors conversion through the wafer thin walls all night

Flies everywhere, had to have fly scarers on the table. No atmosphere unless you count the workmen in and out. Won’t go back in a hurry

Would not recommend, don't know when the promotional photos were taken but it's gone downhill since then. The place needs a good clean up, a lick of paint, and some more light bulbs as loads are out.

• Helen (6/5): - Nice welcome on arrival and pub part nice. Rooms are like little chalets behind main building. They are a little dated and carpet old. Tea and coffee making facilities in room. Walls are thin and could hear movement from next door. No breakfast facilities although is next door to a garden centre that was next door.

Room 6 the toilet didn’t flush so we were left to fill the waste paper bin with water and pour it down. A week later on the hottest day of the year room 9 radiator was stuck on full heat, but only in the bathroom, so the door got closed. Half a toilet roll. No soap, shampoo etc. Good job I bring my own. Just a liquid soap dispenser in the shower. Not at the sink. Only one sachet of coffee. Plenty milk. Tiny coffee cups. No tea mugs.

We had no bedding. Not enough towels, drinks bottle on the side wee in the toilet, spoken to staff. Didn't really care

• Mike (6/5): Pleasant - Not a bad location really close to the main road so easy to access. Pub on site is nice and the staff are very attentive. Food was good too. Curtains in the room need lining or to be thicker.

• Steven (6/5): - It has a new Menu, but not impressed as certain meals are cooked different, ie Hunters Chicken. It was not hot in the middle of the chicken. The sirloin Steaks has gone and replaced by a T Bone Steak, which is not a patch on the earlier menus.

The walls of these units are paper thin so we had to listen to loud drunken men either side to us shouting and swearing etc etc until 2am. If you have children find somewhere else more suitable as you can hear every word said by neighbours

Definitely not worth the amount that we paid for the rooms. One room was far too hot (think the eye of Sauron) the other was far too cold as the heating was not working (it was -2 degrees outside). The carpet was damp and the towels were damp.

• Sistertwister (4/5): Disappointed - Friendly welcome.Starter arrived fairly quickly. Not much choice for vegetarians. Waited 1 and a half hours for main course. Food arrived but was over cooked. The staff that served us were lovely and the pub atmosphere was inviting, decorated for Halloween.

• Steve (3/5): Very disappointing, the experience does not match the appearance - The location was spot on for what we needed, room was spacious enough, good size bathroom, nice and warm Stained towels not good, the room did not appear well cleaned at all, no shelf or cupboard for toiletries in the bathroom so they had to go on the floor or stay in the bedroom. The room was not cleaned or towels replaced during our stay, this is not a self catering accommodation, you enter the room directly from outdoors so clean floors are essential, they were not clean, my feet were dirty when showering and my socks were only off whilst in the room, so I kept them on after my first shower..

• Emma (1/5): Grim, bad rooms, bad service. Avoid!!! - There was nothing I can report that I liked about this “Country Inn”. This room was £70 a night and we had booked for two nights, and whilst I wasn’t expecting luxury I was expecting the room to be clean and to have a decent night sleep ahead of a family funeral. Having driven 8 hours from northern Scotland, all we wanted was a clean room and a decent nights sleep to be rested ahead of the funeral. The first morning we were woken at 6:30am by a delivery van arriving, reverse warning beeping followed by 15 minutes of clattering and doors banging. Then at 8am a road sweeper arrived followed by an hour of cleaning the car park. The following morning we were treated to a 5:30am delivery wake-up call. Spoke to the manager - she sympathised but nothing was resolved. Given the dire state of the room we chose to have a few drinks in the bar. At 9:30pm as we were chatting, the chef appears and announced that the bar was closing. Thinking that this was quite early, we asked what time it usually closed, his response “11pm, but there’s nowt doing and we can’t keep the lights on and staff here just to serve you. But you can take your drinks back to your room” Bedroom Duvet was too small for the bed, it just covered the top of the mattress, no overhang. Only 1 bedside lamp for a double room Cobwebs, clearly been there a while which were full of dead flies Neither wall lights worked, even if they had worked only 1 had a bulb. Carpet was covered in grit. Walls paper thin we could hear very worm on the to next door. Bathroom Only 1 hand towel provided for 2 people No soap provided for the sink Sealant and grout full of black mould and split Hole in wall Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall No soap provided for the sink Paint peeling off the ceiling.

• Departure55634425353 (2/5): Would not go again - This place is filthy, disgusting & is tatty Furniture is thick dust & cutlery was stained We came on Sunday, had lunch but was not great Meat was tough, gravy was watery & veg rock hard My freind had a pie this was no better, at best cheap stewing meat in tasteless gravy and rock hard pastry Won’t bother going again either, I should have read reviews before going as they seem to have 2 trip advisor accounts, with lots of rubbish reviews Not for us sorry
• Adele (1/5): Do not book. - Nothing We were extremely disappointed with this place. It looked nothing like the pictures at all. It was worse than basic. The carpet had stains all over it. As well as hair grips all over the floor The cups were mucky, and the tray was full of stains where it hadn't been cleaned from the last guests. There weren't any towels when we arrived so we had to go and ask for them. There was no soap in the bathroom to wash your hands with. The floor wasn't fully clean. Just the centre of the floor. The edges were mucky. There was a hole in the wall of the bathroom that I had to report so that I wouldn't get charged. The door of the room was thin and let the cold in. It only had a basic latch yale key, so we didn't feel safe and secure that it could keep anyone out that we didn't want to come in. This resulted in me not getting any sleep at all. The curtains were see-through. Not what you want when you are on a romantic weekend away and there being loud guests outside. The mattress was lumpy and resulted in us both being in pain with our backs. The Internet was of no use. Couldn't get any in the room or in the pub. We went to have a drink and couldn't put anything down as it stuck to the table. Every time we picked up our glasses, we were worried they would break as we had to pull hard to get them off the table. And to top off the experience. I had booked for bed and breakfast as I always do. I was informed that they had stopped it. It is not worth the money at all. You can get a room with breakfast included for a lot less. I only chose this place as it was close to where i was taking my fiancée for a date. Unless they do a full renovation, I will not return at all. It was that bad I did not return for my second night stay.

• colint474 (2/5): What's the point of booking if......! - We decided to give the venue a try for Sunday lunch and booked a table for 3 pm. We arrived early at 2-45 to be told there was no Sunday roasts available and no pie of the day. At least one other party turned away without eating and there were others arriving after we left also without eating. Im sorry, but to run out of Sunday fayer by 2-45 is rediculous, I dont know about having decent chefs and support staff i suggest they stop Mickey mouse ordering the food and get someone in who knows how to cator for a venue that opens until 18-30hrs on a Sunday! You failed miserably

• Russell (5/5): The room was basic and clean with all amenities one needs for my short stay. - In an open country environment The pub itself was very shabby & all the wooden furniture was tacky to the touch. I had a meal there after arrival which was fresh & well cooked so that was the only positive aspect about the place.
• Jennyf6 (4/5): Poor experience - Booked to go for a meal, we were the first to arrive for lunch soon as the pub opened. The tables and seats were dirty, you could see left over food on them even though they’d been set for new customers. We moved from our table because it was unclean then we watched a member of staff clean the table we moved from with a spray and cloth, the cleaning spray went over the knives and forks laid out and she wiped round things and left the original cutlery on the table which would have got chemicals sprayed on. Most staff were polite, but one young lady was quite rude and confrontational. This made our visit feel quite uncomfortable The food was ok, the veg was not cooked, the peas were hard and inedible. This was not a case of wanting slight crunch to a veg but a real hardness. I would not recommend this place, it felt run down, rough and dirty.
• Nick (8/5): Useful TPT route position, generous food portions which we needed to boost calorie/energy intake! - We didn't have breakfast at Gardeners - cycled to Hornsea instead to finish TPT Nothing significant other than shall we say country agricultural odours in your beer garden from surrounding fields one suspects

• Nigel (6/5): Lovely setting, nice experience, good value for money, friendly and helpful staff - The location was perfect for our particular purpose, the setting was fine and pretty, the room on first sight was very lovely, spacious and with a separate bedroom upstairs, far bigger than we were expecting for the money. The rooms were on two sides of a courtyard to the rear of the pub, which allowed us immediate access to our vehicle and an easy departure the next morning. On further inspection of the room, there were certain things that required attention, such as a missing light shade on the main light, red wine stains on the carpet, marks on the wall, and the handrail up to the bedroom was very sticky. Tbh we wouldn't have really thought too much about these except for the £100 damage disclaimer I had to sign on arrival - however this prompted us to photograph everything immediately! The bathroom had been cleaned but the floor had not been mopped dry and was therefore dangerously wet and slippy, and we had to use a towel to remedy this. Would just like to add that these things didn't detract from the pleasantness of our stay at all, we just had to note and remedy them which only took a few minutes.

Staff attentive and pleasant Food reasonably priced, lacks varied veggie option Hubby had the sea bass and thoroughly enjoyed We visit about once or twice a year Carpets, tables and toilets are looking a little shabby but food quality over takes
• Michaela (7/5): Comfortable stay at a reasonable price. - Last minute booking at a reasonable price for the summer holidays. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking spaces, restaurant/bar/Park on site. Plenty of space for a family we never left on top of each other. Stayed during August with two children under 6. Some of the facilities could have been better. Shocking WiFi. The only place you could get WiFi was in the bar/restaurant at that you never had full signal lucky to have 3 bars. Jacuzzi style bath, bath it self was was lovely. The jacuzzi setting did not work. Two televisions but only one remote and not universal advised to download remote app onto a mobile which we did after speaking to a member of staff from the bar as we were out all day and returning back to the hotel after the hotel staff had finished for the evening.
• 465barbarac (2/5): Charged in full for overcooked, inedible food - Worst pub meal I've ever experienced. £15.95 for an overcooked steak pie with hard, dry pastry is just one example of what you may experience. Send it all back and you'll still be billed in full (unless you query it and you'll be offered 10% off)
• Hayley (3/5): Poor - we spent the day in hornsea on the thursday and returned that night about 10pm, we couldn't work out how to switch the electricity on and because the rooms are a seperate building we went over to the pub (where the reception is) to find it all in darkness, nobody around, no instructions on who to contact and the place has no signal, wifi or even mobile data to call anyone, went back to the room to see if there was a welcome leaflet with at least instructions on how to switch the electric on - NOTHING Myself and 2 young children had to sleep in the pitch black. sofa bed was like sleeping on a sheet of paper so we felt the metal frame all night room was filthy, cobwebs everywhere, dust, radiator falling to pieces and dirty, carpets had stains everywhere no complimentary toiletries Do not come here unless you like sleeping in the dark with spiders!
• James (7/5): Very very average, would not stay again. - There was NO breakfast facility......very disappointing A small fridge would have helped, especially since it was very warm.
• Devon (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Rude manger with a serious attitude problem. I was left without any keys to my room even after the s - Nothing Was staying here as attending a wedding which was during the day, Spoke to someone over the phone and asked for early checking which I was told wasn’t possible. They advised me that they are able to leave a key in box for me for when I get there which I said would be great. When I arrived in the late evening there was no key left for me and no way of contacting the place. I ended up having to pay to stay somewhere else at last minutes. When I went back to following day the manager called me a liar and that her staff wouldn’t do that. The mangers attitude was disgusting and condescending.
• Rebecca (2/5): - Arrived after midnight and collected key from unlocked deposit box, room was spacious and ideal for 3 of us, but electrics in the property were not working (only the lights) so not able to charge phones, watch TV or use kettle facilities. Left over eggs and out of date bread in the draw, which upon calling today to report issues I was told they were not there yesterday when room was made ready for us, and cleaners have found them today. Manager was adament they were not there yesterday and assumed they were ours which means someone must have been in before we checked in an put them there, why would I randomly bring eggs and hot dog rolls knowing no cooking facilities. No pillow cases for sofa bed. Also told today electrics all working fine and no issue. Not able to offer any type of compensation for not having working plugs or to be able to make a drink as all is in order apparently. Service appalling and no emergency number to call if there is any issues during the night as no staff on site at all. Would not stay here again as been made out to be a liar and spoken to rudely.
• Tinylittlepea (8/5): HOT FOOD GOOD - Hotter food would have been nice. The side dish was lovely and hot but the main meal sadly wasn’t. Food was tasty. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars if food was Hot. Well situated and family friendly with seating outside and an outdoor play area
• Derek (4/5): Miserable cold stay - Not enough cups no tea no milk or sugar freezing cold cold no heating given a dirty broken electric heater, no bath towels.
• Jodie (10/5): a lovely lovely stay, food was stunning, fabulous owner who was really kind and welcoming to me - would highly recommend - very easy to find, lovely atmosphere from all staff! i ordered some food last minute when i arrived and the food was stunning! Bedroom nice and spacious with comfortable beds! nothing
• Wain (6/5): Value for money, but bed was very uncomfortable - Friendliest of the staff The best was very uncomfortable and the mattress needs replacing due to its age
