- Alexander (6/5): An OK Hostel with English speaking staff - This is a hostel perfect for backpackers. As such for families especially young family, it would be just ok. The hostel is close to the JR Takayama station and the map provided by the receptionist is extremely helpful. The inn is probably run by English speaking operator so language should not be a problem. Our room was bunk bed of 4. Be careful the room is slightly either elevated or collapsed at entrance which can be an ankle hazard. Otherwise really ordinary room. Would look elsewhere if good alternative is available.

- Joanna (8/5): - Hostel is very close to the Nohi bus station, 3 minutes by walking. However we find that the requirement to remove your shoes at the hostel entrance and bringing them in a plastic bag to the room is a bit inconvenient. Need to make up your own bed even staying at a private ensuite. It will be good if there is chair in the room. Overall a good choice to stay in Takayama.

- goMac (6/5): If you wear socks it is not that bad - When entering into this hostel, guests must take off their shoes and put into one of the plastic bag provided at the entrance, and then change into their in-house slippers which were shared by everyone. I wonder how often staff would wash those slippers! I would avoid using the slippers due to hygienic issue.
- ibuythings (6/5): terrible design for guests to suffer - The location of K'house was convenient which was about 5 mins walk from Takayama bus station and ten mins walk from the beautiful old town. Staff were nice and helpful. There was a fully equipped kitchen on ground floor with everything you need for self-cooking. Paid laundry was available too. Free bottled water or kettle/mug was not given in the room therefore guests must travel to kitchen to get whatever you want. The room was very small but the most annoying thing was the raised floor in the room as shown below, it was a terrible design and easily got your ankle twisted since it was not noticeable. This room is definitely not suitable for elderly people or handicapped.

- Doreen (10/5): - I am very satisfied with K's House Takayama, in fact I love all K's House Hostel. It's very clean and homely. It has lovely lounge and dining place which makes us love to dine in. The staff is extremely nice and friendly. They have also provided great service when I have requested a delivery of my lost item from the other K's Hse branch. I highly recommend this place. Will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Takayama.
- Mark (10/5): Great hostel in a really good location. - The location is great and the facilities are excellent. The rooms are clean and a good size. This hostel has a good clean kitchen and sitting area with a full private bathroom attached to each room. More like a good hotel than a hostel.

- Vanessa (10/5): Great location and value for money - I booked this place because I had heavy luggage and it's very close to the station. Location was ideal could get everywhere easily by walking. I stayed in a single room, best value for money I've seen in Japan so far. Only a little more expensive than a dorm room, well worth the money for privacy and your own bathroom. The room is small, of course, but for a solo traveller it's perfect. Staff are friendly and give a really thorough explanation of things to do and recommendations when you check in which was great.

PROS: 5 min walk from the train station, close to everything, very well maintained common areas and kitchen with the usual (stove - microwave - fridge - utensils), separate luggage storage room. Also, private bathrooms in the rooms! CONS: the room is tight, just enough space for the suitcases and you, but that's very normal for Japan. Otherwise no problems at all, will happily stay there again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Good place to stay but don't get the platform room - A good place to stay for a couple of nights. We had a double bed room which would have been okay except for a raised platform on the floor that filled the entire area next to our bed except for a 15cm gap between the platform and our bed base. One had to be constantly aware of the gap to avoid hurting one's foot/ankle when one got in and out of bed. Much cursing To make matters worse the matting on the platform was slippery. We ended up sometimes crawling up from the narrow walkway at the bottom of the bed to get into bed. The platform might be a Japanese design feature but practicality wise in a small room it was a total nuisance. Another room with a double bed had a normal open floor - we wished we had been given that room instead. It would also have been great to have had a miror in the room for when one blow dries ones hair. There isn't a power point in the bathroom. On the positives the staff were friendly and helpful and lent me an extension cord - needed as the power point is high on the wall so it meant one's phone was left dangling when charging as mine has a short cord. It was great to be able to cook for ourselves after 10 days of bought restaurant meals. Sauces are supplied which was very helpful. Having an English newspaper in the lounge with a brewed cup of coffee at breadfast was a great way to start the day. All in all recommend K's House but try and avoid getting our room - we were very glad to say goodbye to that platform when we left.

- Charles (10/5): great experience! - The staff were friendly and welcoming, gave me a thorough yet concise introduction to the place. The place is compact with common room (free coffee, wifi, computer). The individual room was clean, organised, comfortable. Locations within 15min walking distance to the station and right next to restaurants and other shopping streets.

- Ming (8/5): Nearby the station, good location - There are 2 hostels under the Quality Hostel K's. We were booked at the Quality Hostel K's house. But we went to the other Quality Hostel K's Oasis by mistake. Its about 10 mins away. Our arrival was late, ie. after 9pm. We called the hostel informing of our late arrival. Since their reception closes at 9pm, they provided us the password to enter the building. Our key was left on the counter. The place is really cosy and has a lift to go to our room. Nice fully equipt. kitchen, with cooling oil and sauces etc. for use. Fresh coffee available from 7am. Our double room (bunk bed) has our own tiny bathroom. The size was ok. Enough room to put our bags down, comfortable. I hope they can provide curtain for the window, as the light from outside was shining through the window. Hair dryer available in room. Walking distance to the morning market and old district. Family supermarket nearby. Good location.
- shez (10/5): They don't call it 'Quality' for no reason - Okay, so it's a hostel but its a posh hostel. I was bit nervous taking booking this place with family (including small kids & elderly parents). But it exceeded my expectations! Loved the communal facilities & super comfy beds! Having the towels changed daily & limited house cleaning was just like staying in a hotel! Great location near the station & sites around town. Super recommend!
- Josh (10/5): Best hostel you could ask for! - I've stayed and lived in many hostels over the years and this is by far the nicest I've ever visited. It's impeccably clean, the staff are incredible, and the room was extremely comfortable. The location is also quite convenient, just a couple blocks from the old town in Takayama. The staff have a map with excellent recommendations for nearby stuff, but be sure to ask for the parking map if you have a car as the lot across the street does not have a daily maximum and you can end up paying a lot more than other nearby lots. Definitely recommended!

It is a pity we didnt join their free dumpling making gathering. You can always feel free to use the common kitchen and computers. - Rachel (8/5): Brilliant Location, Good Hostel - The staff here are fantastic, they have great English and are super friendly and happy to make suggestions about things to do/places to eat etc. The room was fairly basic and small but clean and therefore fit for purpose (its not anything to write home about but its a good hostel so definitely not bad). The location of the hostel is fantastic, super close to the (train/bus) station and the old town. They were also happy to store bags in a locked room prior to check-in which was handy. We stayed in a semi-double bedroom which was fine for a couple but would have been a bit cosy otherwise!

It was only a short walk from the railway station and close to shops and the old part of town. The staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. Our room was comfortable and clean with attached bathroom. The kitchen was modern, clean and well equipped with some free food such as butter and jam.

- JP (8/5): Great hostel with great hosts - The hostel was really nice. There was a great vibe going on, with nice common areas. It really is a backpacker inn with small rooms that only include a bathroom and bunk beds, but everything was clean. The common areas included computers, books, a dining area and a kitchen. There were photo books of guests and activities, so I guess if you stay there for a longer time there is stuff to do! We only stayed for one night though. The hostel is located less than 10min away from the train station.But Takayama is very small and you can pretty much walk everywhere around the city. A few parks and landmark to see, lots of small shops. We had a great time here. After spending a week in Tokyo, this really was a change of pace. Small beautiful quiet town.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Very friendly staff, well equipped common area - staff are polite & friendly, especially the lady staff, her english is good. room & bathroom are clean. kitchen & the common area are well equipped. they even serve coffee in the morning. they place some travel info that u can get, and write down some restaurants nearby on the board. warm & cosy. but the room is too small. and wall is thin, u can even hear the sound when your neighbour opening the door & having shower. when u want to take shower, better avoid the "rush hour", becoz the water pressure is not good. as it's a hostel with low price, I would accept for these. hostel location not far from station. along the street, u can find cafes for breakfast & restaurants for dinner. overall is pretty good.

The hostel has all the amenities you could hope for in Japan, including a private washroom which is very appreciated, and a kitchen, lounge and more. The hostel was spotless, and the price was super affordable. I highly recommend K's house Takayama or any other K's house for that matter!

The beds are comfortable the room size was good. Remember this is a hostel not a motel. But better than a lot of the motels we have stayed at & paid a lot more money for.

The staff were lovely and very accommodating and since it was our honeymoon even left sake and chopsticks in our room as well as a kind message. Very sweet! They were also always available to answer questions and point things out on the map and provide recommendations. The rooms are great with a comfy bed, super clean and the ensuite was also small, but very clean and efficient. Overall, highly recommended!

- Roy (8/5): Great first hostel experience - Very convenient to Takayama Station, it was a great first experience at a hostel. Very nice and friendly staff who explained everything to us (including the making of your own beds) and guided us through the common facilities that we could use (sitting area, computer area, dining, and kitchen, too). The bunkbed in our room was a bit challenging but was sufficiently strong and enough head height in it to sit up (almost) and work on a computer. Typical small self contained bathroom was adequate but as a hostel, there were no complimentary toiletries other than soap / shampoo / conditioner (which was fine by us). Wish there had been a chair or a small nightstand or something, but overall, it was a good experience. Wish we could have stayed another day as it was definitely interesting to talk to fellow travelers and their adventures too. Would definitely come back here and highly recommend it for hostelers!

- OllieM (8/5): Cheap and cheerful, great for budget travel - I only stayed one night here, in hindsight I should have stayed for 2 since Takayama takes a while to get to from Tokyo. But for the price, you can't argue with this place at all. The staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The location of the hotel is great, close to the train station and not too far from all the sights. There's a nice common area, a kitchen area with a fridge, tea and coffee, etc.; though I didn't use any of them if you're staying for a few days these would have been great. The room was somewhat small but I wasn't expecting anything large, and for one person its more than enough. Overall, for the price, you're getting a great place, and if you're on a budget this place will be hard to beat.
- travelingtexan (8/5): Near to train station, welcoming staff - Just as described. Easy to communicate w/ staff. Comfortable bed, WiFi dependable, room very clean. Common areas are well organized if crowded sometimes, with labeling system for your food placed in the refrigerators and shoe lockers as you enter the foyer / slippers supplied. We had a private bedroom and bathroom, so cannot speak to the dorms or baths. Japanese seating in the room, but dining area offered both Japanese and western seating options. Two full service grocery stores within easy walking distance. The kitchen well supplied for two stoves, two refrigerators, two sinks, so two groups could cook, clean up at the same time. Easy walking to market and to exploring opportunities. Scenery lush and very pleasant train ride to / from Nagoya.
- CJBT (8/5): Great location and friendly hostel - Easy 5 min walk from train. Not cheap for a hostel but had all necessary facilities and was clean and comfortable. Free tea/coffee in communal kitchen and use of shared fridge and cooking facilities. We had ensuite bunk room which was small but functional. The aircon was quiet and efficient. Staff were very friendly.

- Kiwi Bloke (10/5): Fantastic Service - Most satisfied in every respect especially with the level of service that my partner and I have received during our short stay at the hotel. One particular staff member, by the name of Tomo has been especially awesome. My partner was not feeling well when we got to the hotel, however, we had arrived well before checkin time. After explaining the situation to Tomo, she hurriedly arranged for one of the rooms to be cleaned so she could check us in early. Thanks for her effort, my partner was able to have a good rest and recover sufficiently for us to enjoy the wonderful sites of Takayama. All the staff are english speaking and very helpful. Highly recommended.

- Wai Nam (10/5): Cosy hostel, easy to find, friendly staff - I stayed at K's house for one night. There was a party that night, and everyone was invited (free food!). I didn't join, but I got back for the after party talk with Tomoe, Nick (from JR Hoppers) and Izam (fellow guest, hope I got her name right). Even though I only stayed here for one night, it is the best guesthouse that I stayed in during my 10-day trip in Japan. The beds are comfortable, there's a shower room in every room, which makes things very convenient. Washing and drying machines are available also, just right beside the kitchen. The staff are available and ready to help in any questions I had. As a solo traveler, I think K's house is a great place to stay!
- Spencer (10/5): A Great Hostel. - It is a hostel not a hotel and I have rated it as such. I stayed with partner and two teenage children. Nicely decorated room, own bathroom, quiet, spacious, comfortable futon, warm in winter, no view. Well equipped kitchen and a dining area. These do get busy during peak times. Wide variety of people from every corner of the globe staying - families, backpackers - generally friendly vibe. Staff are very helpful, make good use of them for ideas on sights and travel. Asakusa is a wonderful location with old world Tokyo visible down the side streets.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and offered numerous useful suggestions for making the most of our stay. Having a kitchen is a nice touch and though we didn't make use of it, we noticed it was always spotlessly clean. Free coffee and tea making facilities were much appreciated.
- Char Bennett (10/5): Excellent location - I wasn't prepared for it's being partially "Japanese" as far as the decor. I can't sit on the floor and while we had a regular bed, there were only flat cushions on a slightly raised platform for a sitting area in our room. The common areas had regular chairs and tables, though. The computers were on the floor, though, with chairs with no legs. But they very thoughtfully came up with a little stool for me to sit on while I used it. But it's a great place, the staff was very helpful in advising us with restaurants, etc..... the people couldn't have been nicer! And the kitchen facilities were fine. Plus we could walk everywhere from there. All in all, it was a great place to stay!
- feedback (6/5): Check in counter/ reception does not operate 24 hr - the room is nice but the reception does not operate by 24 hours! I didn't expect I cannot check in when I arrive at the hotel at 9pm (as no one was there) The entrance was locked and I can't go in without a password! It is very disappointed. Luckily the door was opened by other guest who stayed in the same hotel. You cannot find anyone from the hotel at night. With this service, the price is overcharged.

- DC (10/5): Great first stay at a hostel - Very satisfied except for the noisy group of commuters waiting at the bus stop early in the morning (our 2nd level unit was directly in front of the bus stop). The standard in-unit bathroom was like most bathrooms found in budget/business hotels. In fact, it is slightly larger than the bathroom in the hotel in Nagoya (which we were at after Takayama).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hostel, lovely staff, good facilities - The staff were very friendly, with a good level of English. We were given a quick tour around the common areas when we first checked in. There's a traditionally-styled lounge with three free-to-use internet connected computers and some sofas, a large kitchen with two work areas (the staff also make sure to keep a pot of coffee going until about 10am to be used at will) and a dining area with the standard Japanese light jazz playing. The room was lovely, if a little small, and included a large TV, a table and a nice bed.
