Guest Reviews
- Shambhavi (9/5): - It has great location in the heart of the city close to everyone tourist attraction, great staff, clean and safe The rooms don't have ac or fan however it does get pretty chilly so they are not necessary but it still causes the room to get quite stale
- Alim (8/5): -
- Janani (7/5): Ambience and food were good - The restaurant food is good. Property is maintained well. Our room view was good. Need to improve the check-in service. While checking in some guests were given Welcome drink and we were not given welcome drink. Also, the rooms did not have refrigerator. Room we stayed had lots of noise from out side road. So could not enjoy the balcony.

- Sreeja (8/5): Must Visit Again - I stayed with my family, the resort is higly accessible yet quaint overlooking Ooty. Everything was good.. Will visit again
- arjun (9/5): Stay at KingsCliff - Quaint old Bungalow tastefully done up with modern bathroom. Rooms have retained wooden look and feel but are comfortable. Nice lawn overlooking the valley. Excellent restaurant and bar. They need to do more to keep flies out of the breakfast buffet area
- Paul (9/5): -
- Gabriella (10/5): Great place to stay!! - Beautiful property, carefully put together with lovely garden and views. The staff were lovely and really helpful especially the bar staff who mixed great cocktails!
Food was also excellent. Nothing
- Mithun (10/5): -
- shilpa (6/5): Good but could do with some improvements. - Good location. Leak in the bathroom and noisy room to begin with (which backed onto the kitchen) however was changed on request.
Breakfast variety could have better. Service was slow at times.

- Pritesh (10/5): -

- Clare (9/5): Memorable stay in a beautiful, peaceful location with fabulous food. - Gorgeous, utterly peaceful location, up on the hill and out of the hustle and bustle of the town. A prefect place to chill. Our room was enormous and very comfortable and had a sunny, glassed in verandah which we used a great deal. Earl's Secret Restaurant was sensational, (not cheap, by local standards, but worth it) and we ended up eating there every night. We also loved the cozy bar. Decor and the open fire in the restaurant made us feel part of a bygone era. We enjoyed the add ons, like the nature walk, complementary biscuits and tea at 5pm, chocolates and hot water bottles delivered to our room, and the breakfast was extensive and delicious. Gardens are beautiful too. Our room was lovely, but looked a little tired and needing a bit of a spruce up. But that's a very minor point.
- Kathryn (8/5): Room with a view - Rooms with a view, a comfortable bed, a terrific shower, and hot water bottles for the bed. There is a woodburner in the bedroom. Gardens are beautiful, and plenty if places to eat, including a log fire in the main dining room. There's a bit of a walk into Ooty.
- Julia (9/5): - Beautiful property, lovely rooms and balconies. Gardens and restaurant food lovely Alcoholic drink prices quite high.
- David (9/5): It was a pleasant stay after an 8hr car journey from Kochi on the hairpins over the Ghats! - A raj era bungalow style accommodation, located in the hills above St Stephen's Church, giving it nice views across to other hills. Once there however, you won't be able to walk around the town of Ooty. On arrival there is a welcome cup of tea and biscuits which they call "high tea". A very good breakfast is included. The kitchen also provides a tasty dinner, if a bit expensive, which is a good thing since you can't go anywhere else. There is also a free guided walk up the hill behind the house at 7:15am. The staff are efficient and pleasant. We asked for a heater for the room and it was delivered immediately. There is a bar also which is cosy but we were less than impressed with the G&T - almost 500 INR a shot and a can of tonic charged separately to mix yourself and no limes! In a Raj inspired bar it should be the best!
- Barbara (10/5): Just perfect - Superb heritage hotel above beautiful Ooty. Staff looked after us exceptionally well (special mention to Mr Sekar who provided us with a hot water bottle every evening). Setting is beautiful and we also really enjoyed the fabulous nature walk the hotel provides and the complimentary afternoon tea every afternoon- lovely touches that makes this place memorable. Highly recommend staying here!
- Vanchinathan (7/5): - Good food, prompt & service oriented employees
- Richard (9/5): Home from home - Lovely nostalgic feeling to the property. The staff were first class, particularly Shaker who went the extra mile to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. He even provided hot water bottles for us. The food was excellent as were the cocktails. The only fly in the ointment was that I felt the music a little inappropriate; gangster rap and dance not being my favourite genres.
Apart from that a perfect stay.

- Karen (10/5): Very special hotel- we loved it - Amazing heritage hotel in a great location. The staff treated us like royalty. The food was great and the antique building well preserved. The garden and views are excellent We loved it, but it is an old building so hasn’t got all the conveniences of a modern hotel, but it has great character and style. It gets cold at night, so wrap up warm and enjoy the log fires.
- Alan (8/5): A pleasant stay in a place full of character. Relaxing environment and a good breakfast. - A good location in a green environment, lots of character, friendly staff, good breakfast. No concerns.
- Karen (10/5): This was my 2nd visit in 10 years - once gain it was a wonderful tranquil experience - Location was wonderful! Lovely food and really helpful staff. Sekar went out of his way to make our stay comfortable ensuring we had hot water bottles each night and fresh fruit. In such a peaceful location it was a pity that there was music playing near the outdoor eating area which intruded in to the peacefulness of Nature

- Premchandran (8/5): - Very good .
- sreelakshmi (10/5): -
- Gangadharan (1/5): - We stayed in a room called Avon in Kings cliff.
Such a disappointment we had. Below points to highlight.
1. It was mentioned Delux room but very difficult to accomodate 2 Adults + 1 kid.
2. Room was very small where it was very open towards the entrance.
3. Completely waste of money. We paid 12,500 per night for a 10 x 10 room size.
4. No Brush, toothpaste, room slippers, no bornfire even during this cold winter.
5. Very limited menus for morning breakfast.
6. Comparing other resorts no much space for Gym, sports and club activities.
7. Can add more but would highly recommend not to choose Kings Cliff and check for other resorts with this budget.
- Seymour-Eyles (9/5): - Breakfast was good. Staff lovely. Hot water bottles and chocolates at bedtime. Bar was under construction...no beer or anything available

Buchung bzw. Bezahlung war etwas umständlich.
- Neeraj Kumar (6/5): Not worth the price - It’s old world charm Room ( Standard Room type) was too small and it looked shabby
- Mohamed (8/5): -
- Jasminder (8/5): - Good food as well
- Jerry George (10/5): A wonderful experience - Homely, no stairs, spacious rooms, excellent food, very friendly and thoughtful staff.
They provided bedtime chocolates, hot water bags and heater for the room. There was hot water immediately available in the taps and shower
- Vedant (10/5): Great food, heritage hotel - Food was excellent, extremely tasty
The place was understaffed but the staff was really hospitable, especially Mr Shekhar who has been working there since a long time Food
- Katherine (8/5): -
- Kapoor (8/5): Good - The room initially allotted was very small and dingy. Not value for money. Then I asked for a change it was given. A fresh room was given with additional charges. Drain of the wash room was not functioning properly
- Roy (8/5): Very good - The look and feel of place is excellent. The front garden is excellent place to be in, perfect for photo session. The site needs some maintenance to be done to increase the experience level. WC was not cleaned well, especially the area behing the cover joint - out of sight, out of mind. Food taste can be better. I stayed in Destiny Farms by the same company during the same trip, and the food taste was far better there.
- Ravivarmaraj (8/5): Very good - Great view from dinning area Hair dryer is missing there and if portable heater could be there then it’ll awesome. may be if i asked to reception they might be give but if it should be randomly then its awesome i think.
- Neha (8/5): Excellent location, great staff, comfortable rooms, but not value for money - Location Not well maintained as it’s vintage
- Tumkur (4/5): Disappointing -
- Ravi (9/5): Superb - Overall it was good Nothing
- Dennyson (9/5): A nice boutique hotel - Excellent spread for the breakfast, friendly staff, nice glass house dining area on the cliff, nice dining experience near the fireplace on cold evenings. Prices during peak season can be exorbitant.

- Sathish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sengupta (8/5): Enjoyable...good service - Overall a good property, good location The rooms and amenities should be improved as it's a very old property.
- Makarandh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ramya (7/5): One with views and it’s an experience - The location
The room The service
The food options
- Youlton (6/5): Pleasant - The lobby, restaurant and surrounding area was beautiful, staff friendly. The room was basic and not well kept, we didn't have wifi or phone signal or a window to open.
- Bhardwaj (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Gwyneth (8/5): Very good -
- Marty (9/5): Superb -
- Nilesh (2/5): The cumulative effect of these issues left me with a negative impression of the property. - The restaurant staff were very courteous in their service. Front desk staff were very rude and unprofessional. Once I was finally checked in, I was directed to my room, which was not up to the standards advertised on your website. The room had no cleanliness, broken fixtures, faulty appliances, etc.], which made my stay uncomfortable.
- Shashi (1/5): Bad -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Lovely location, quirky colonial feel, comfortable and clean, beautiful garden and views. Staff helpful, Concerned as there are some bad reviews, at the end of the day its not 5 star but it’s not 5 star prices. Wouldn’t rave about the food but it was fine.
- Shilpa (8/5): Very good -
- Praveen (9/5): Superb -
- Subhadipghosh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amit (2/5): Good in parts! - Good food albeit the pricing did not make any sense whatsoever
Good location with well kept lawns and ornamental plants
Great breakfast buffet with very helpful staff and very likeable chef and his team
Courteous staff Beds are downright awful with getting any sleep being next to impossible. Considering that's what people need badly after a long and tiring day, this made it very difficult to enjoy our stay.
The table lamps in all 3 rooms we booked were broken. Attention to detail is missing.
- Sundar (9/5): Superb -
- Suresh (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location. Staff. Very cooperative. Food top quality. Surroundings very nice. Breakfast had lots of variety. Nothing
- Vinod (8/5): Very good - The staff were really nice !! The place was well kept ..I really enjoyed the property
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel Maybe I booked the room in the last minute that's why the price was little high, I think not sure..
- Pravin (9/5): Superb -
- Reetha (8/5): King's Cliff is a great place to stay, The food, location and staff are all superb. - We had booked 3 rooms. But when we saw the rooms they were very small, so Manoj the manager on duty happily upgraded us to better rooms with a sit out and a lovely lawn in front, with a view of Ooty. These. rooms were very good and comfortable, The staff were very helpful. The 2 ladies who cleaned the rooms were very good, unfortunately I do not know their names. Shekhar who was on night duty came and gave us hot water bottles which were so welcoming, he was also very helpful. The food was superb we had most of our meals at the hotel. The initial rooms we had had booked very nor very good, but that is not really the fault of the hotel. It is what I had booked on line. The rooms we changed to were excellent. Because of the cold weather the food was getting cold. But again not the fault of the hotel, for example the soups were being served piping hot but were cold by the time we finished.
- Vinay (3/5): Avoid King's Cliff. Not worth the money. - The Ooty weather was nice.
The lawn and flowers inside the main heritage building are nice. The room given to us is right next to the main thoroughfare to the hotel. Vehicles are constantly coming and going just outside the window and door. Stayed at room number 12 (Arcadia). There is so much noise. Autos, cabs, and private vehicles all park outside the window.. Could not open the windows as there was no privacy. It is quite a distance from the heritage property. More like an outhouse. None of the drawers opened in the bed side tables or chest of drawers. Asked house keeping staff to fix it on both the days. They did nothing. The restaurant staff are not well trained. There is an endless wait for a dosa or an omlette at the breakfast buffet. The waiters would just forget what was ordered and serve the wrong order at the wrong table. The food quality was very mediocre. If you are not staying inside the heritage property it's not worth it staying in the so called 'club rooms'. Room 12 is the worst. Definitely not value for money. Not going back again. Just too commercial minded. No concern for guest comfort.
- Nipin (9/5): Superb -
- Olive (10/5): Fantastic place but expensive - Location and beautifully decorated Food is expensive
- Pushpendra (9/5): King's Stay - Built in 1900s and frequently visited by britishers This hotel will win your heart the moment you enter the gate.
It has a very good ambience and positive vibes for relaxation.
The breakfast buffet has a lot of options to choose and fill your tummy. The staff is also very friendly and cooperative.
- Mrinalini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sabaha (5/5): I think I can get better property and service for the money I paid here - Location was awesome but the money they took for room and food was not worth Staff service was very poor. They delayed getting everything.
- Bylappa (1/5): Bad -
- Bharti (9/5): Superb -
- Harikrishnan (6/5): Decent stay but over priced - Staff was helpful especially Shekhar. Location was wonderful. Good breakfast Flush in bathroom was not working well. It took lots of time to refill.
No coordination during dinner, we got wrong orders multiple times
Cleaning of rooms can be better
We feel that the vessels weren't cleaned properly
Over priced
- Rohit (9/5): Excellent Stay!!!! - Front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. Manoj from front desk is very helpful. Hotel will arrange cab or auto for you if you are interested in local sightseeing. Food quality is excellent. Must Try - Continental food and Kabab . Breakfast spread is decent includes Idli, Medu Vada , Paratha, Poha etc. Food is bit expensive. Room required little make over.

- Barbara (10/5): A peaceful stay with a slight touch of britishness - Good and quiet location, well maintained, well trained and friendly staff, a slight ‚touch of Britishness‘, fireplaces which are still working (!), tasty food in Restaurant - even suitable for sensitive european stomachs - you can even eat the salads there! Special thanks to staff member Shekar who provided a perfect turn down service at evening time. Bringing sweets, lighting fire in fireplace and bringing hot water bed bottels. Nothing to complain
- Muhammed (9/5): Superb -
