- Rocco (10/5): - Fantastic stay. Our room was comfortable and quiet but no lift. The restaurant served delicious meals for both dinner and breakfast. The area is quaint and full of character.
- Ian (10/5): - Charming older style hotel overlooking a delightful town square, with a very nice restaurant on the ground floor. However, access is only via a very narrow staircase which can be challenging if you have large luggage. Car parking is off-site but only a short walk away.

Une belle chambre très propre et bien équipée pour un séjour de quelques jours. Nous avons adoré l'atmosphère et très bien manger au restaurant de l'hôtel. Et nous avons été vraiment choyé, nous avons reçu un très bon petit déjeuner pour apporter car nous devions quitter très tôt le matin. Notre regret, c'est de na pas avoir pu prolonger notre séjour. Un coup de cœur pour le beau village Portaria, la vue sur Volos et les environs à découvrir. Encore merci pour tout.
- MIchaelHB-uk (10/5): Fantastic hotel with amazing food and lovely staff - Needing to catch an early ferry from Volos and not finding anything suitable in town, we decided to stay at Hotel Kritsa in Portaria having seen other good reviews online. We were not disappointed! The hotel and restaurant are nestled on the main square in the centre of the village. Our room was comfortably furnished with a little balcony overlooking the square. We had a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and air-conditioning (a must when temperatures are in the late 30s) The staff were really friendly especially Elein and we ate at the restaurant in the evening. Food was fantastic. With a very early start we didn’t get to sample the breakfast which everyone raves about however they kindly made up a pack-up for us. Great value and a lovely hotel
- Michael (10/5): - Perfect for a night or two if you don’t want to stay in Volos or if you are exploring the Pelion. Lovely location; really comfortable room and great food in the restaurant. We had to leave early so missed breakfast but they made us a pack up which was delicious!

- Didge1 (8/5): Lovely traditional hotel. - We stayed here for one night enroute from Thessaloniki to the Pelion. A lovely traditional hotel …very clean with a comfortable bed but rooms are small. We had a room overlooking the square, this could be noisy but we were so tired after our early start that we slept through a music festival that was taking place in the square. The staff are very friendly and immediately helped carry our bags up to our room. The breakfast was the best we’ve ever had in Greece …and this includes five star hotels in Athens. We will definitely return and stay a couple of nights to explore the immediate area .

- 455mf (8/5): Beautiful hotel in the mountains - The hotel and area is beautiful and breakfast is wonderful! There is no elevator, so climbing to the second floor with luggage is challenging. If this is an issue for you, ask for a room on the first floor when booking.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely Hotel - The breakfast buffet here is amazing with a wonderful selection.. We are gluten-free vegans, and we still had a large amount of choices. The staff was very polite and helpful. There is no elevator so if you have issues with narrow staircases, request ahead of time a room on the lower floor. All in all a pleasant stay.

- Meyerz (10/5): Lovely Hotel and delicious greek kitchen! We loved it! - We stayed one night in Portaria and enjoyed everything about Kritsia gastronomy Hotel. The room was very clean and lovely, we had view to the villge square. The food was incredible delecious, great wine selection and the staff was so lovely. We had to leave very early for the ferry and they prepared for us a breakfast bag. What a lovely and kind gesture and it was a very delicious breakfast.
- romants (10/5): Hotel managers very very considerate - I was obliged to cancel my trip to Greece because of the rocket bombing of Israel.Hotel management agreed to wave cancelation fees.I am very grateful for this. Next time when situation will be better I will make an order again to this hotel.
- catherine162018 (10/5): Beautiful hotel with warm hospitality - We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful hotel and were extremely satisfied by the level of cleanliness of the room (especially with in terms of covid considerations) and by the warm hospitality of the owner. Despite the hotel restaurant not operating due to covid restrictions, the owner made sure we had warm and delicious food every day. The breakfast which was included in our room booking, left us feeling full and energised for the day, the highlight being the daily Greek traditional pies and variety of choice. Definitely recommend, and we will be going back for our summer holidays.

They were very kind and helped us with a nice restaurant in Volos because in Portaria everything was closed due to covid. The room and bathroom were fine and breakfast in the morning was absolutely perfect! We could arrive and leave anytime we wanted and got a very kind homemade marmelade gift when we left. Would go there again 10/10!

- ShropshireOldfart (8/5): Great staff the room could do with being updadted - The Krista Hotel is right in the middle of the village square, as we were there out of season this was a pleasent location, not too noisy and parking whilst difficult was not impossible (on the Sunday we had to park 1/2 mile away). If it was mid summer goodness knows where you could park. The room was a little small and old fashioned, there were no coffee tea making facilities, the view from the balcony was great. On the positive side the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant (we ate there 3 nights) was excellent.

The rooms are not large but more than adequate and very clean. We had a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast is fantastic and the restaurant for dinner is the best in the area.

The dining area is in a garden setting with 1000 year old trees surrounding us. The included breakfast was beyond expectations of farm to table fair presented in a most charming manner. On arrival were warmly greeted and even given a choice of rooms. The breakfast spread was simply outstanding (we were simply spoiled for choice) and if you felt like an ommelette they were more than happy to oblige. We can't speak too highly of this hotel. It has left an indelible mark on us both.

- MajorFoodie108 (10/5): One of Our Most Favorite Places - Ever! - Twenty plus minutes up the mountain from Volos we came upon Mt. Pelion’s enchanting village of Portaria. This is the land of the Centaurs, a lesser known destination in central Greece with skiing in winter, Portraria offers a cool respite from the hot hot Volos summer with its cool mornings and evenings and ice cold pure spring waters. One of our favorite spots in Portaria is the charmingly beautiful Krista Gastronomy Hotel and Restaurant, right on the square, with air conditioning as well as an old-worldly quaintness and imagination. There are balconies and fireplaces in some rooms (and we had an anteroom) and it is one of the most wonderful places we've stayed. The uber-friendly and professional staff are beyond generous, presenting us with many surprises (an ouzo and tsipouradika pairing at the gate; oregano spice as a parting gift; fresh fruit after dinner.....).The restaurant, featuring fresh and delicious traditional Greek fare (our personal favorites a luscious eggplant in tomato sauce with feta - we ordered three - and a Pelion Salad with apple) is now famed, with fruits and veg fresh from their organic farm (also offering cooking classes). It may be unparalleled in this region, perhaps beyond, with family recipes and positively scrumptious food at the vanguard of alternative tourism in Hellas. Their breakfast is an overflowing cornucopia of all homemade savories and sweets - a Babette's feast for the body and soul. The wonderfully welcoming venue is a vision of homey original Alpine decor with a hand-carved art nouveau fireplace mantel by an Egyptian sculptor, fir tree and pine cone motifs and eight idyllic guest rooms. Our stay was pure sublime perfection and lush sensory delight- on all levels!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous stay…fabulous food! - Hotel Krista is a gem of a Greek hotel! The staff are just fabulous and make you feel like you are settling into their home for a visit. The hotel has great character and the food at the hotel's restaurant was the best we had in Greece! It was also a great help to have great staff that walked us through what everything on the menu was and made great recommendations. Breakfast was just amazing. I wanted to stay for hours just to try all the delights they offered! The room has all the basics and a very comfortable bed. Our room had a little balcony that led onto a larger deck where you could sit outside and enjoy a coffee or a wine. Perfect! We loved this hotel but it is best suited for those looking for authentic Greek accommodation experience. For example: no pool, stairs - no elevator, and limited internet.
- Paul B (10/5): A glorious autumn outing in Pelion - This was an autumn break in an area of Greece which we had visited fleetingly before. We went expecting it to be a lovely location. We didn't anticipate just how beautiful it was. Pelion is a peninsula dominated by a mountain range which rises to over 5000 feet. Unlike much of Greece it benefits from a regular rainfall (though not while we were there) and the mountainside is covered in the most magnificent deciduous forest - chestnut, walnut and, above all, the most splendid maple/plane trees. The mountains are dotted with small villages of great charm and on the Aegean side, there are a variety of good beaches. The city of Volos is just 20 minutes away, reached by a rapidly descending road which is a bit of a test of car and driver - multiple hairpins and Greek drivers who assume the road belongs to them. Volos - like Athens - has some pretty unattractive industrial suburbs but there are some charming streets with good bars and restaurants and there is a fine waterfront lined with places to eat and drink.
