- S (1/5): Overall the worst experience so far - I had an extremely distressing experience at Sherlock, and it was one of the worst stays I’ve ever had.
I was traveling with my 10-month-old baby and my 60-year-old mother, and the room provided was completely misleading compared to what was shown on Booking.com. This was very disappointing and concerning.
What made the situation worse was the behavior of the staff. The front desk receptionist, Anthony, was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I raised my concerns, he raised his voice at me and was dismissive. He continued attending phone calls and ignored me, despite clearly seeing that I was traveling with a young baby and needed assistance.
Given the circumstances, I felt very unsafe at the property. This is a serious concern, especially for families traveling with children and elderly members.
Overall, I found the property to be highly misrepresented and the service unacceptable. The entire experience caused significant stress and discomfort.
- Jacob (7/5): -
- Hoegaardenn (9/5): -

- BRADFORD (10/5): Away from the hustle and bustle. - Sherlock is uniquely old school. It was very peaceful, with beautiful gardens and great views. The road to get here needs improvement.
- Pramod (10/5): Highly Recommend - Evrything about the place and the amazing complimentary breakfast! Restaurant price could be made a little more reasonable.
- Sai (10/5): -
- SUBRAMANIAN (10/5): -
- Lewis (10/5): Luxurious peacefulness - The staff are amazing! Right from check-in they brought us a lovely hot lemon tea after our long delayed journey. The Indian food at dinner was delicious and the welcome chocolates to our room was a nice touch. The service was like staying in a 5 star hotel! They even brought us hot water bottles for the cold night. The room was nice and the garden lovely to sit in. Also a very scenic walk to tea plantations and the Sri government gardens.

- Sarita (8/5): Excellent Place to Stay and Relax - Great Property. Awesome Food. Staffs are polite and helpful. Excellent service especially Mr Sanjay and Rama. Overall great experience, would like to repeat the stay in our next visit. Last half km to the resort can be improvised (off roading). And the tariff also needs to be reduced a bit as per the facility.

- H (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful stay at Sherlock. The ambience was superb. Rooms were also clean and well maintained. Staff members were very helpful and friendly. Would certainly recommend it to friends and family. Access was an issue as the road was quite narrow and untarred at places.
- Tony (10/5): Lovely old period house - We had one of the rooms in the garden, which was very nice with lovely views. Very decent size with everything we required.
The main building itself is very querky and laid out like a British country house. The staff were very nice and very helpful.
The food in the restaurant was very very good.
I would recommend The Sherlock if you find yourself in Ooty. Bring your own beer though as they dont have a bar. One of the staff David was a great help on this and arranged for beer to be delivered to the hotel for us.
- Nasar (5/5): It is good. Rate is not reasonable - Nice Rate
- Ajit (8/5): Very good -
- Balakrishnan (8/5): Stay at Sherlocks - Excellent staff. Extremely warm and welcoming. Bala and David made our stay comfortable. My pets were very happy 1) Do not take the mountain view room. The garden view room is what you need to take here.
2) The ventilation in the Standard room is a little poor.
3) Only the mountain room and the garden rooms are pet friendly. However, the staff was very accommodating when it came to our requests with the pet. They allowed our pets in the standard room.
- Trilok (7/5): Good -
- Richa (9/5): excellent - exemplary staff - V good food- comfortable n clean rooms- modern bathrooms.
lovely garden to bask in the sun.
i hate to take names so i won’t but everyone down to the cleaning lady are so customer oriented and pleasant. approach road v narrow- difficult for suvs when car comes from opposite side.
ok in daytime but restricts movement to the town at dark.
- Dr (6/5): Not value for money, rooms not spacious - Its clean , good location , friendly staff and good breakfast too Not value for money , room is nit spacious enough for the per day charge . No room heater in high end room , standard room needs to pay for room heater , its ooty …too cold also!… we got rooms in different places as we four of us has to stay too far , children and us .
- Ranjit (9/5): Superb - The staff was great they had an excellence to amaze the customer's, we came late but they made it up for the service in the morning. MR DAVID ,MR Sanjay , the chefs Vignesh, and Balaji were ready to help and bring a good satisfaction to us during our stay through their services. Stay timings
- Murialdo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Richa (8/5): Good views and good food but needs improvement in room facilities - The view from mountain view room are excellent. Rooms are big and well lit . Staff is good and food is lip smacking. Beautiful place overall Little more maintenance is needed in rooms and bathroom. The linen needs to be cleaned or changed . Furniture looks old and tattered . Bathroom faucet was leaking . No heater in room in cold weather
- Alison (9/5): Quirky hotel in the hills above Ooty - excellent service! - Very quirky hotel set in the hills above Ooty. The gardens are immaculate and beautiful and the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
The meals were good and the hot water bottles much appreciated. It would be even better if they had Sherlock Holmes books / showed the films. And had the fire lit in the sitting room so you could get cosy around it in the evening.
It’s really cold - blankets in rooms would be great.
- Dr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Saha (5/5): Passable - The lawn was small but okay. Cleanliness. Pet owners were trimming their pets in the lawn. Not a good sight to see. There were many stray cats in the property. Felt little unhygienic.Breakfast was not upto the mark.Orice being quite high, these things should be handled better. Rooms were very dingy.

6. Have toilet and food facilities for drivers. 1. Can stay here only if you have your own vehicle
2. The food taste was average.
- Rajitha (8/5): Beautiful - The cottage is beautiful.
Scenic beauty. Loved the cottage and nature theme. Ooty weather is cold. The bonfire in cottage should be given as complimentary rather than charging for it. As we are already paying a good amount for cottage
- Kenneth (8/5): A place in the hills with a Bhritesh feel - Staff is good ..location is great. Breakfast is good The Fire that they put in the room gets charged . We were not communicated about the actual price

- G (8/5): Very good -
- Sriram (6/5): Okayish - Some spots within the Hotel premises were good for photos. Breakfast was decent. People with pets may find it suitable. The hotel premises is clean. The road to the hotel is definitely challenging. You'll most likely get lost if you try reaching there at night. The hotel should try to improve the last bit of road within their premises. The food items are bit costly.
- Nilay (7/5): Good -
- Rakesh (9/5): Superb - location , garden , hill view , staff , service . bed ( mattress ) was bit uncomfortable

Sherlock's is a great place to have vacation and good times with your family or friends. They have variety of rooms for the purpose as well.Pet owners can have Garden view or Valley view cottages/rooms and their is plenty of space for their morning and evening walk and relieving routine. They do provide pet food but I preferred steamed rice and curd bowl as I was carrying Pedigree gravy sachets.
Rooms and cottages are clean well maintained and the best part is their garden and lawn which is lush green and has plenty of beautiful flowers. Its a paradise for photography lovers.Food menu is short and simple with selective items across Asian/Indian cuisine but you can ask for our of the menu specially curated items as well like we requested for simple Sambhar Rasam Papad meal one night after having Asian and continental continuously for 2 days.
Now about their breakfast spread, its the best thing that can happen early morning and sets the right beginning to your day.The spread is well thought and changes each day with lots of items on the serving while you can request for hot dosa's and variety of omelettes as order to prepare items (included in buffet).
They also arrange for bonfire, snacks during evening time on request and charge basis while drinks/smoke you can carry your own.
Staff is well trained to take care of customers and everyone is polite and ready to take care of you.Special mention of Bala the property manager and Mr David the resturant day time care taker who were very helpful in making sure we had a memorable vacation. One star less for reachability. The way to hotel is bit challenging with very narrow and steep roads at some places which gets tough if another vehicle comes from opposite side.
- Ankit (7/5): Decent Stay - Service was good and prompt. David was extremely courteous and nice Standard rooms are extremely small and dingy.
- Deshmukh (9/5): Superb - Good environment good food
- Amarnath (8/5): Very nice place to stay for few days, especially if you want some peace and quite. - Location was very peaceful, scenic place, hotel kept spick & span, staff very friendly & always smiling & eager to help. Garden was the best, we spent hours on the lawn, basking in sun, reading, chatting and working. Food was high quality, service excellent. Dining was a pleasure here. Reception made it smooth for us and were ever helpful. I have to appreciate service of Mr Bala at reception who was very helpful always, Mr David, senior steward very seasoned, experienced, smiling taking care of us, Mr Hasmath Ali, youngster, steward, very mature for his age smiling and served us well and Mr Ashok, housekeeping, for his ever helpful nature, attended to all our requirements and more. Service overall is 100% with well trained staff The bedroom and bathroom was bit of a dampener. The bedroom was dark without windows with no sunlight. The room was however very big and spacious, enough for extra bed, plenty of space for movement. It had a nice fire hearth and the staff even offered to lit it for us in the evenings.
The bathroom was too big without shower screen, and there was a kind chillness due to the size. The water was hot very early morning but by 7.30am it just about luke warm and taking bath was chilly affair-luke warm water and chillness due to the size of room. Shower enclosure would be the answer and better heating required.
They expect 100% advance payment on check-in, bit strange, especially when its exclusive.
- Vinod (10/5): Exceptional - This was an amazing stay and staff was the best, especially Mr. David who took amazing care of us. Thank you the incredible stay at Sherlock. Nothing
- Charanya (8/5): Very good -
- Charanya (8/5): Very good - Awesome views, well-maintained and landscaped garden and superb hospitality on the part of each and every member of the staff. The Bed could have been more comfortable.
- Vishnu (1/5): Bad -
- Kulkarni (10/5): Exceptional -
- Baskaran (9/5): Superb - Good staff
- Ashuli (9/5): Beautiful Boutique Property in Ooty. - Sherlock is a really pretty and quaint property just a few mins way from the bustling main town of Ooty. We really enjoyed our short stay here, the room was clean and with all necessary facilities, the team members Bala, Ashok and even the cleaning lady who made our room including the other team members on property were extremely warm and accommodating. The food is excellent as well, we enjoyed our evening tea and snacks along with dinner too. Overall a fantastic city getaway for peaceful staycation.
- Aditya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Royalrr (4/5): Disappointing - Location
Vintage look
Service by staff esp by Ashok, hasmat and surjit
Expensive, costly and no value for money
Would look for other options rather than stay here
No value for money very overpriced Rooms were disappointingly small
They charged us for firewood which should have been provided at no cost considering ooty's climatic conditions
TV was not working
Intercom phone not working
Hot water boiler should be on 24x7. Need to inform reception to start boiler in morning and evening
Food is disappointing - sweet and lack of options thereof - same repetitive options
Basic dental kit not provided
- Monzur (8/5): Very good -
- Swetha (8/5): Happy stay - Rooms were decent
Employees were friendly Roads to resort was difficult
There was no control on hot water in bathroom, even in cold pipe it was boiling water.
- J (10/5): Cosy stay at hilltop
Sherlock - Has a wonderful stay at Sherlock along with our pet. Great hospitality starting with Mr Bala at the reception and good service by David and Hasmath Ali. Chef Prem was exquisite with his culinary skills. Even our pet food was made exactly in the same way we wanted it and our pet had a adorable time making the best of the garden. Would surely recommend this place for a quiet get away in Ooty especially if one has a pet. Approach road could be made better
- Abhilasha (3/5): Not a worth stay - The garden was well maintained and the staff was courteous. Food was bad and really expensive. In room dining brought food in dirty trays.
"Cottage" had two shared walls with other rooms with lots of patch work and switches and lights in almost about to fall off.
Uphill Single & gravel road to the property.
No exhaust in washroom and hot water was ocassional and had to request for it. Doors hinges were barely closing after lifting the door.
The room doesn't have a door bell.
In room tv didn't work, it was there for the sake of it.
Dental kit, room sleepers were not provided until asked for twice. Room facilities don't match the room price.
- Srikanth (8/5): Very good -
- Sudharsan (7/5): Good - Rate of cost is high for some reasons Price rate
- Joseph (9/5): was worth it - architecture, view , lawn the road to the property
- Arjun (5/5): Food was ok ok and not that great .Hot water is an issue have to wait for longer time as the geaser capacity is less .Bo -
