- Niall (10/5): Amazing - Incredible people really looked after well. The guide at the front desk was the kindness most helpful person I have ever met.
- Elisabeth (8/5): - Impresionant relació qualitat/preu. Habitació gran, llits cómodes. Bon esmorzar. Personal molt amable. A prop d'activitats. Servei de bugaderia a preu raonable. Habitació antiga però repetiria.
- Sapna (10/5): - We had such a wonderful stay at Hotel Cipreses! The staff were so warm and friendly, and really made us feel at home. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast each morning was delicious and filling. They were also very accommodating with our plans, which we really appreciated. One of the highlights was the night animal tour with Ellie. It was fantastic! We saw so many animals and the kids loved it. Highly recommend this hotel for a cozy and welcoming stay in Monteverde.
- Guest (9/5): - Charming little hotel, clean and good breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful. PURA VIDA HOTEL CYPRESES.
Encantador hotel, limpio y buen desayuno. Los chicos/ empleados muy amigables y serviciales. PURA VIDA HOTEL CYPRESES. Limited TV stations for news and other info.

- Kaylee (10/5): - Hotel Ciprese was a last minute choice for me and it was the best I could have chosen. It was clean, safe, near town, had a delicious breakfast, and the staff was excellent for recommending local events and tours and helped point me in the right direction. I would 100% stay here again!
- Gabriel (8/5): -
- maryann (6/5): - Very basic hotel for a quick one night stay. Bed was comfortable. Staff was awesome. Hotel itself was mediocre, but it was cheaper than everything else so all things considered was a decent value.
- Mike (10/5): Would definitely stay here again! - Beautiful room, almost entirely wood. Just a gorgeous property. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty. NOTHING!

- Wendy (8/5): Cloudy visit - It was a great value, room was small with minimal amenities, staff was great
- Brett (8/5): - Staff and breakfast was great. Bed/sleep quality and the sound coming through the walls front next room was bad.
- Patil (9/5): Very beautiful experience ! - Break fast is decent to get you started for the day !
- Louise (10/5): Mémorable, - The welcoming staff, ready to help Nothing
- Ricci (10/5): Cost benefit, near to everything, clear and beautiful view - It was really clean and the staff was super nice, gave us nice recommendations, they could book us the tour for us and the hotels owner is lovely!
- Pavan (8/5): Good location, breakfast and staff - Good hotel to stay nice location, breakfast and staff, room needs fan or air conditioning
- Amrish (7/5): Good -
- Sarah (8/5): - Hotel Cipreses has a great location and was wonderful for our 1-night stay in November, extra convenient to Santa Elena Cloud Forest and Selvatura Park. We were traveling as a family with 2 teens, 2 adults and 2 grandparents and booked 2 rooms. Both rooms were spacious and clean, with a lovely enclosed balcony/porch. One note - every room’s balcony is connected (only divided by a small railing) so our teenage son was able to sneak next door and enter the other room from the balcony and scare his sister - this gave us a common sense reminder to lock the patio door!
The front desk staff was incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was yummy and generous with pancakes, toast, eggs, rice & beans, coffee and juice.
The only downside of our stay was a slight issue with the bathroom/plumbing. There was a pretty bad smell emanating from the drains in our bathroom. Not sure if it was just normal for the plumbing in the area or if our room had a specific issue. If we had been staying longer I would have brought it up with the staff to see if there was a possible fix. And would absolutely stay here again, and definitely recommend the hotel as a clean, friendly and safe option.
- antoniap4477 (8/5): Comfortable, happy stay! - Really lovely helpful reception staff! Fantastic location walking distance to shops and town centre and a 5-10 minute drive (or very cheap taxi ride) to all the Monteverde activities.
Lovely comfortable hotel reception/ lounge area to relax in. WiFi in the rooms that worked really well. Decent hotel breakfast.
They don't serve dinner but doesn't matter as many great restaurants and cafes very close by.
Cleanest hotel rooms for our stay in Costa Rica.
Not so great sound protection - we could hear the people in other hotel rooms talking - I'd bring earplugs.
Even though the kitchen was closed the Reception staff let us get cups of herbal tea in the evenings which I really appreciated.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (9/5): Superb - Staff were lovely. Very helpful. They booked a tour for me and communicated with shuttle bus driver when I was unsure of pick up time. I had breakfast once. While generous not so good for vegans. The garden and out door seating, with friendly cat was great. It would have been good to have a kettle in the room.
- Penelope (10/5): Great views, clean rooms, helpful staff and delicious breakfasts! - Great views from our room, it was clean and tidy. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast was delicious and the best we’ve ever had while traveling! Nothing
- Martha (8/5): The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good. The place was a decent value but a bit dated and ru - The gardens and common areas and the location Bad smell coming from the bathroom plumbing
- Alexis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norma (8/5): Very good -
- Jillian (9/5): Superb -
- Coastal601599 (2/5): Icky place, old, loud, musty, worn don’t stay here. No amenities. Very noisy - This place is horrible. It was very old and musty. Towels were old and they didn’t even give you a wash rag. No blow dryer. No ac. Very noisy, thin walls. The sheets and coverlets are very worn. Motel 6 is better. Sleep in your car first. There is a very nice hotel next store.
- Ramprasad (8/5): Great stay - - Good hospitality and welcoming.
- Decent room would've liked a bit more spacious room
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naudain (9/5): Superb - Delicious breakfast. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating for our early departure. Loved the resident cat. Easy location to get to town. Bath towels were ready to be replaced.
- Callie (10/5): They were super accommodating! We needed breakfast before they were technically open, due to timing of a tour, and they -
- Bryan (10/5): - A beautiful, well run property that is hyper close to town center. The staff were incredibly helpful in making local recommendations and the breakfast was perfect before an adventurous day in the cloud forest!
- Kristin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel was perfect for our stay in Monteverde. It was close to town and local attractions. Breakfast was delicious.
- Deborah (10/5): Very enjoyable stay, would recommend to everyone. - Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Close proximity to the main town that we could walk to have dinner and to attractions in the town.
Gardens were well maintained & encouraged birds to visit. The walls between units were quite thin, we could hear our neighbours talking.
A small cupboard on both sides of the bed would be helpful.

- Vacation18725914025 (10/5): Súper cute - Awesome location. Minute walk to the downtown for food and shopping. People are very nice. REALLY NICE WEATHER COLD. awesome laundry service super cheap. Gets really cold, doesn’t have air conditioning or a safe but it’s very tourist friendly. Feel very safe. Feels like a movie, really the experience of the mountains
- Sean (8/5): Very good - Perfect location, great staff and comfortable stay.
- JoAnn (8/5): - Nothing fancy but fine for the location. The biggest problem was the tile floors were dangerously slippery and they used the same tiles in the room as the shower. It was a bit noisy. The check-in lobby was a nice place to sit and enjoy the sunshine pouring in the windows. The breakfast was fine. There's nice areas outside to sit also. There's a brand new hotel next door that had a fantastic bar and restaurant. Both were GREAT. Also, Bon Appetit, a very good local Italian restaurant is a 3 minute walk away. Make reservations!! Also, it's a short but steep walk into the town of St. Elena. The front desk arranged for our guide to the Cloud Forest who was just so-so. Overall, recommend the place.
- Don (8/5): Stayed 1 night. Perfect for our canopy tour day - Location was good .steep walk back from town. Staff was very friendly Beds were good . So my only under 10 score. But fine.
- Hannah (7/5): Lovely, comfortable and super friendly staff! - Little friendly kitty!
Lovely gardens
Comfortable room
Super helpful staff The wall between the toilet and bed was super thin so you could hear everything
Breakfast was 7-9, we went at around 8.30 the first two days and they’d already packed it away and had to remake something for us because we were last - they were really accommodating but it felt super awkward and like we were late and inconvenient 😬
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Janice (10/5): - Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was included and was excellent….much better than most complimentary breakfasts.
Short distance to many restaurants, shopping, bars, activities.
- Lisa (3/5): Would never stay again. Ad was very deceitful. Was woke up at 5:30 by the people next door. - Nothing No fan or continental breakfast as stated
No restaurant as stated
Paper thin walls
No front desk staff over night
- Yecv (8/5): Value for Money - Location, Cleanliness Toilet easily getting blocked. Power outage.
- Crystal (6/5): Pleasant - Clean and great staff. However no AC and paper thin walls. No wash cloths, no phone to call the front desk. Poor construction so it was hard getting up the uneven stairs.
- John (6/5): - The property and room were clean. Staff was excellent both friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were dated. Rooms would benefit from a widow screen or two to allow airflow without worry.
- Darius (8/5): Very good - Place and hositality Sound isolation between the rooms
- Christy (8/5): Very good - The bed was very comfortable and big. The facilities are a but run down, the breakfast wasn't the best.
The room had a very strong smell and you couldnt open the window because there was no net and buga would come in.
- ellenc108 (6/5): An old building with no heat or AC - We happened to stay in Santa Elena on a cold, stormy, very windy night. Imagine our surprise to find no way of regulating temperature.... no heat, no A/C. The wifi was spotty, and there were no glasses in the room. To his credit, the night manager brought us extra blankets and an electric heater. Beware of things you take for granted!
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gerald (5/5): Touristy - Free shuttle to Selvatura Park Further from center of town.
- Victoria (8/5): Very good - Nice staff, comfortable beds, good breakfast for $11. Bedrooms could use furniture/benches to put suitcases on.
- Nazim (8/5): Very good -
- Xin (9/5): Very pleasant stay. - The breakfast was delicious, the location was very convenient. The staffs were super helpful and provided us with many information on tours. The rooms wasn’t very soundproof, and it could get a little noisy.
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- satheesh (6/5): - Overall place and staff was good, the room i got did not have a mirror in bathroom, no hand soap. I could not shave :-).
- Christina (10/5): - Well situated, decent place to stay to experience Monteverde. The front desk had wonderful preparation to help you learn about things to do in the area. The front desk also was very good at arranging tours, even at the last minute. I was very impressed by a restaurant recommendation they gave, which was, inexpensive, local, and delicious. The Wi-Fi worked, but not for video streaming. Plenty of parking on premise.
- Sanjeev (7/5): Good - Room was good except for below. No ac - was cold at night w no heating
Strange smell from toilet
- Sudipta (9/5): Superb -

It had a good atmosphere.
- Castro (10/5): Exceptional -

- Erick (10/5): - The friendliest and nicest staff you will find. Great help finding tours and very accommodating. Delicious breakfast. Nice rooms. Will come back for sure.
- John (3/5): Poor -
- Lauren (8/5): Very good - The location was great. We went ziplining the next day only 10 minutes away. The receptionist was the sweetest and breakfast was delicious. There were shops near by that we walked to and got some cute souvenirs. If you don't pay for breakfast prior to your arrival it is $5 cash. We had to go to the atm in town. There was a 5 min shower limit per person but honestly it wasn't a huge issue. There is no AC but we just left the windows open because it was cool out in the beginning of August up in the mountains.
- Michael (8/5): Nice Place - The women who were working the front desk were very helpful and welcoming.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
